Really great beer selection, with reasonable prices. The bartenders are friendly! Very eclectic group of patrons. Optional band in back room (on a Wednesday night). You have to pay to see them but you can hear them just fine without paying!

This place is tight. I actually go when they are open to THE PUBLIC and have always gotten great service. Moderately priced drinks, chill atmosphere, diverse beer selection. The bartenders are thoughtful, knowledgeable and witty. A step up from the other dive bars I've been to in Louisville, but also really casual. There is also a rumor that they will be hosting a food truck soon! Don't miss out on this gem.

I first heard about Kaiju from a 3-sentence writeup about the bar in a recent issue of "Wired" magazine, which featured a 1-page article on things to do in Louisville. The idea of a Japanese Monster bar sounded like a lot of fun, and the beer selection was really impressive. I finally got here on a Sunday evening on my first night in Louisville, which was probably too quiet a time to experience the place at its best. It was very quiet and kind of divey. But at the same time, that gave us a chance to chat a lot with the guy tending bar. On Sunday night, the pool tables were free as well, and I enjoyed the music. I have to say, I was a little disappointed in the decor; I felt they could kick it up quite a few more notches, and I really wanted to see more in the way of the Japanese monsters. But I really, really, like the beer selection here, and this is the kind of place that you can make as much fun as you want if you bring the right crowd of people with you. I don't know whether I'll have any more opportunities to get to Kaiju during my stay in Louisville. I'm glad I got here, but I think I'll have to bring my own crowd here to maximize the fun potential.

What an awesome bar!! Here for Louisville Craft Beer Week, and even though, I've been here before, it's still awesome! Excellent beer selection and friendly staff right in Germantown.

Limited, but unusual draft list, 2 pool tables, dart room and stage for live music in back room. Came on a sat at 10pm-already packed for a band still setting up. Variety of different crowds of people. $5-8 for craft beer, but still offer PBR for ones not wanting to spend.

5 stars for the monsters! Ive been to Kaiju multiple times for the great beer selection, music and late night games of pool. I was always excited to see what the DKD crew would do about getting a bite to eat at this joint... and now I know! Last night was the opening of their accompanying food truck parked right outside. It is a game changer! The Okonomayaki, the Karaage and the Yakisoba are all killer! If you're in Germantown or you are looking for a low key bar- sink into this place and if you get the late night munches... You're covered!

Although this is a new establishment it still has the dive bar vibe. Cheap drinks, pool, mismatched furniture. The thing I really love is having the food truck parked outside. Great snacks for long nights of socializing and drinking. The food truck is also priced towards the lower end of food trucks in town so when you are a young professional in town on a budget it is a really nice addition. The bar is generally only staffed with two people so waits can be a little long if the place is busy but not too terrible. I have been here a few times and will continue to come back. I'm really looking forward to the summer months and enjoying this place. Hopefully the neighbors will embrace this addition to the neighborhood.

Extremely disappointed. I live just around the corner and have been wanting to try this place for a while. I have noticed this bar has been quite busy on weekends so decided to stop by on a week night. Just so happened to be the very late "christmas" party for Kaiju and their sister restaurant Dragon Kings Daughter. Not only was the bar closed to the public, the group of people I showed up with, as well as myself, were instantly judged by the employees attending the get together. Someone walked passed us not even 5 minutes after arriving muttering something very nasty under their breath. Then waited until we walked away to yell "why don't you go hop a freight train and get your fucking legs cut off". Actually having friends who this has happened to I take serious offense. Needless to say I will not be stopping by any time soon or recommending it to anyone I know. .

are you kidding me, Louisville? only one review so far for this fantastic Germantown watering hole? this place rocks....literally. they often have multie bands playing on the weekend, always an eclectic mix of styles, sounds, and genres. super beer selection. pool, darts...great wall art. cool bartenders. yeah, they're still working out the food truck thing...Definitely need something to eat with all that booze flowing, but they'll get there. open late (4 am) so now there are two great Germantown bars close to each other. Nachbar and Kaiju. don't just pick one kveq the other...go to both on the same night. at least that works for me.
