I mean, what can I say that's not already been said? I ordered the Chocolate Chess Pie; it was PRETTY good. I say that only because, compared to my wife's Reese's peanut butter cupcake, I struggled with food envy the whole time. We brought our two kids (2,1). They split a kid's double scoop of Green Apple Sherbert. It was *deliscious*. Tasted like a green Jolly Rancher. Needless to say, they devoured it. We purchased all of these scrumptious delicacies for a fair price($9.57). Will I come back? Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Did I say yes, yet?

Some of the best ice cream I have ever had. Customer service was amazing and the staff was so friendly. I will be back here again real soon. If u love ice cream this place is a must .

Every year we pick up upside down cupcakes for my daughters birthday. She gives them to all her teachers. Her kindergarten teacher has been getting one every year for the last 7 years! Always a hit. Thanks for being awesome!

A good variety of flavors, but my favorite part is the bakery. An upside down cupcake? YUM.

Really disappointing. The pies looked amazing but looks we're deceiving. I ordered a slice of peach and cherry to go. I have to say the crust was very good, but the fillings were sub-par at best. I'm sure the peach filling had some apples mixed in, probably to cut costs. The pie definitely had an apple taste and texture more than peach. No excuse with the abundance of fresh peaches in August. The cherry filling was mostly a jelly substance with very few cherries. Bottom line, It's what I would expect from a truck stop but not from a place with "pie" in their name.

I went to this place in early October shortly after I moved to Louisville. They had excellent pies. We tried the following which were all delicious - Chess, Lemon Chess, Chocolate Chess, Pecan Chocolate Chip, Dutch Apple. I would give this place 5 stars if not for the bad service we got that day. The guy that served us was not very pleasant, looked so serious like he was working at a funeral home, didn't talk or make any suggestions and was almost patronizing. That ruined our experience and made me wonder if I should ever go back. Thankfully, I went to the Frankfort Avenue location and the guy's service at that location was so good it redeemed the chain. I didn't want to give this place bad reviews just based on one bad employee's service.

Not a big fan at first, but now I love it. Chocolate chip cookies are the best if they aren't over cooked. By far the best thing they have is the Reese cupcake!!! I thought it might be too much, but it is now my favorite thing they make. Cupcake with any icing is a sure thing as this place but the Reese is the one you will make a special trip for in the future.

Wow wow wow.... I'd heard good things about this place...but wasn't ready for what I experienced. This place is AMAZING! So much so that, we got to Louisville on Friday, left early Sunday morning, and managed to go get snacks from this place twice. That's right...I'm a fatty. The first night the wife and I hung out there. Great atmosphere, booths and an outdoor section to eat at. Night one I got a piece of Oreo Cheesecake and the wife got a piece of Apple pie covered in caramel with ice cream. She and I both were in food heaven. Night two wet just stopped in for a snack to take back to the hotel to eat while we watched a movie. She got a caramel covered yellow cupcake. Seriously, this cupcake was dipped in caramel...Fully! (Wow). And, I got a giant ass chocolate chip cookie which could smack the shit out of any mall cookie (Which I love). All in all, I would go back to this place on a day trip just to get a small bit of another cookie...so very very good.

Holy COW was this place awesome. It took me a good 15 minutes to decide which of the delicious treats to try. Location is great - lots of places to sit-down including a kid-sized old fashioned table, which my 2-year-old adored. Ice cream, cookies, cheesecake, pies, OH MY! To cut back on decisions, I decided to get pie AND ice cream! The dutch apple caramel pie was TO DIE FOR. I am not kidding, this stuff was heaven. Topped with praline ice cream? It's like a little bit of heaven. I'm glad I'm not from the area because I'm sure I'd weigh 350 pounds if that place was less than a 5-hour drive.

I've already reviewed the location in Springhurst, so this will be short. My mom and I split the "dirt cup," with chocolate mousse, oreos, and whipped cream, and it was the best thing I've had on earth! Amazing! Also, I can't attend, but they're having a 25 cent cone day today. Y'all come out!

Clean location, friendly staff, great pies, cakes and ice cream. My loss of star is that they use boxed cake mix. I mean same kind you can buy at kroger. With that I do not know of their icing, pies and ice cream I don't know what is "homemade" or what else is from a retail box.

I am giving it 1 star not based on the food --because I NEVER got to eat any!! I am giving 1 star based on my experience. Today on a Friday lunch I arrived at 12:20 and there was only one person behind the counter to take orders, make the food, be the cashier, etc. She was alittle overwhelmed due to the 3 ladies placing their order had questions about the menu. Finally the one person working called to the back for help and another girl came out. But intstead of asking who was next she just went to the first perosn she saw. It took 15 minutes until someone was ready to talk to me and this is what was said: "Just to let you know it's gonna be at least 7 or 8 minutes until I'll be with you because I have 3 sandwiches to make." I just said forget it because I had an appt at the salon/spa next door at 1:00. I never dreamed a deli type place wouldn't be able to get me in and out within 40 minutes!!! What in the world are they thinking? A busy lunch spot on Friday at 12:20 and one person to do it all!!!! I just moved to the area a couple of months ago and have seen these all over the area--I was excited to get to try it, but wasn't given the chance due to not enough help!!

3 1/2 stars. Pretty good. I have yet to try the icecream, but I've had several of their cakes, and the yummy banana pudding. Nice that this place is within 1 miles of our house :)

This location is okay. It's generally a good experience. I have a bone to pick with the consistency. Many a time, I've sent my husband out to get a slice of my favorite (Chocolate Meringue), and it's come back with the pudding part completely inedible. There were 'bubbles'? I don't know. But it wasn't the smooth consistency of chocolate pudding that it should be. Sometimes they let a last piece of pie sit in the case and get stale- then you get a piece (because they sell it) that has air-hardened edges, yuck. This location is run by teenagers. So sometimes, you get a complete deformed piece of pie do to the person not being able to get it out perfectly, so they just slosh it in the box- I guess they figure if it's "to go", you won't notice, or it won't matter because you won't be there when you eat it. In the summer, the place is so crowded, the line goes to the doors practically. One day I saw a middle-aged woman, I guess she was eager to avoid the line, STEAL a box of Valentine's cookies off a promotional table. I was appalled. I guess I would say I've had better overall experiences at the original Pie Kitchen at Bardstown Road and Taylorsville.

I finally made it here and why did I wait so long. I enjoyed my mixed berry pie with a cup of hot chocolate. Delicious. I enjoyed sitting in the high ceiling, industrial feeling, yet old timey shop on Lexington Ave amongst the other shops at the Vogue. Just to come in here for the smells was well worth it. The only complaint I would have was that the server could have been a little more engaging with the customers. Probably being so young and probably it being their first job, I would expect some shyness, but perhaps they just needed some time to warm up to the customers that are as warm as the wonderful pies they make.

Yummy! Very good. All flavors are great. I can never, ever decide which one to choose. The pies are also good, but I just stick to the ice cream. If you haven't tried it yet, go!

They have lots of dessert choices and a very friendly staff. The ice cream had a creamy handmade texture and the apple pie was delicious. This place is a great spot for an afternoon treat or an evening dessert.

We had a chocolate chip shake and it was delicious! The atmosphere is fun with the old theatre chairs and oldies music in the background. I wish the prices were posted on the chalkboard so it was easier to determine the cost, but you seem to get pretty generous portions with the ice cream so all is well!

Homemade Pie and Ice Cream Kitchen will deliver on whatever sweet thing you are craving. The atmosphere is one of an old fashioned ice cream parlor combined with grandma's kitchen. Everything is good! I usually judge the quality of a place's ice cream by their mint chocolate chip, so naturally I had a scoop of that. I wasn't disappointed! It was delicious and my boyfriend's creme brulee ice cream was tasty as well. Definitely go to one of their two Louisville locations!

When I walked in they have this huge old movie projector that kids just run to wondering what it is, and of course you can't touch it. Its out of place and is a accident waiting to happen. My son whom is 3 tried to run and just figure this out. They need to build an actual structure around this if they are going to make it center attention. My kids had the chicken soup and grilled cheese which was common and nothing special about it. I noticed that there was a lot of dust on the HVAC pipes and I was not close to them. If I could see that they could too, it would look nicer if the place was clean. The parking is really odd as its a quick turn into a forced line parking. I understand that this is the position of the place but its just not easy unless you know exactly when to turn. My gps and google maps could not figure it out perhaps a road sign would help out.

This place makes me wished I lived in Louisville again. Oh my goodness, it is delicious! I really don't know what says "Welcome Home" more than their Dutch Caramel Apple pie. Thick, fudge like caramel tops off the best apple pie I've ever had. Flaky crust with just enough crunch and deliciousness. We stopped in to grab a slice and sit around to share. Though I wasn't really in the sharing mood, it's hard to eat a whole slice because this pie is so rich and tasty, you can get full quickly. The only trouble was they were not keeping a good eye on the coffee bar and supposedly there was an issue with a handicap path to the bathrooms. Though I did see them working on clearing the path, I'm not 100% sure how that worked out. Order and carry out was available and they had plenty of pies waiting for last minute Thanksgiving sweet tooths.

They always have a line, even during the winter months which indicates just how popular this place is! Not a long wait or anything though, so this should not prohibit your going. Dutch apple caramel, French silk, chocolate chess, and yellow cake with caramel frosting are some of my personal favorites. This location has a really nice storefront and outdoor seating.

Ice cream. Pie. Cookies. Cake. Sweet goodness. Okay - really how could I not give it 5 stars. In my book - you would really have to screw up sweets in order for me to knock you down. I have loved every flavor of ice cream I have ever tried and the staff never gets impatient with me and my "sampling". The cookies are AWESOME and they can make just about any custom shape or order you want. If you are feeling adverturaous I would suggest trying one of their cupcakes ... they ice is upside down and it's to-die-for. I have seen the sandwiches on the menu but honestly I always opt for a meal out of ice cream instead - but I do hear they are fresh as welll.

I keep trying so hard to find something here that I like but really it just isn't happening. The chess pie just tastes like fat. Like the batter left in a bowl that you lick, but not even tasty. And the apple pies are just so underwhelming. The butter pecan ice cream is so sugary. Definitely prefer any brands over theirs. Big fan of the banana pudding though. Staff are patient with giving people samples and are always friendly.

What's not to love about homemade ice cream and pies? In fact, all of their desserts are delectable. The ice cream here is nice and creamy. All of their baked goods taste fresh - I love their chewy cookies with mounds of icing. My all time favorite is the dutch apple pie with caramel. I get it warm with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream. It's a little slice of heaven. Everything is very rich and you will leave in a sugar coma - but it's definitely worth it!

Pie and Ice Cream. No better combo. Love places that support local farmers and keep ingredients simple and none artificial. Not to mention their selection of cookies. Try the Reese's or Chess pie with Cinnamon ice cream.

My dad and I walked in, waiting for someone to help us, but then some white women came in behind us. One of the employees ran over to the white people first, while we were there before them. Anyways, my dad made a big deal about it, but I honestly didn't even notice because I was too busy looking at the choices! I got the chocolate chip in a cone. The ice cream was very sugary, but it was good. And my dad got "diabetic cheesecake", after the guy kept telling my dad to get something although he has diabetes. I liked it though. It's in a good area and they have a good variety!

Stopped in on our visit to Louisville. Strawberry rhubarb awesome, mixed berry was good as well. Carrot cake was nothing special.

Can't go wrong with homemade ice cream and pies!!!! This is a place of pure joy and happiness. My friends got pie slices to go and they were mighty delicious. Decent sit down area, lots of ice cream and pie varieties. I saw they even had a few kinds of ice cream pies in the freezer.

Love this place! Great selection of ice cream, pies, cakes and cookies. Decided to have cinnamon ice cream that was delicious. Daughter had a sugar cookie that she loved. Of all the pie kitchens this one has the most character. Love the location that is part of the old Vogue theatre center. This is a place that you actually want to hang out at and enjoy the vibe. Price is great! Ice cream was under $3 for a generous one scoop cone.

I was greeted with a smile and a delicious piece of warmed chocolate pecan pie with homemade butter pecan ice cream. How bad could that have been?

If you have a sweet tooth, this is the place to indulge. There are all sorts of cakes, pies, cookies and ice cream to enjoy here for a cheat day. I love the chocolate-chip, pecan pie and, of course, the Caramel, Dutch Apple Pie. The servers here are great and you're bound to leave a happy camper.

Great ice cream. Some of the pies have too much on them like the Caramel Apple. Is the old fashioned caramel too. Sticky sweet. Teens are always the staff members and they are pleasant enough. I think they should rotate a special of the week.

The dutch apple pie with caramel is amazing as they say. We had it warmed up and alamode, and now I'm addicted. Others in our group had a variety of other things - ice creams, cookies, cakes, and not a soul wasn't pleased. Staff was friendly, prices fair, nice seating options.

This is an update: Thank you to management and owners who really care about customer service. Original post: I had raspberry fudge ice cream and it was delicious!!! We went in with a big group of 10 people and we all loved the flavors we got! The small size was huge so I ended up getting the junior size which was just the right amount of yum! When I'm in town I will definitely visit this place again!

This is by far the best ice cream I've ever had. I went with the chocolate chip in a waffle cone and it was delicious. My family got some pie and ice cream too and they ate every bit of it. The ice cream is homemade, hence the name, and the texture is unlike any other ice cream. A must try in the highlands!

I grew up on Graeter's, but when a branch of the Ice Cream and Pie kitchen opened up close to where I live, I definitely earned my Conehead badge on Yelp with my frequent visits. If you're in the mood for pie, the chocolate chess and Caramel Dutch Apple pie cannot be beat. Totally worth the calories, and the Caramel Dutch Apple is enough sugar to give you a toothache! The chess pie isn't bad, but I prefer the chocolate chess when I'm here. I usually don't try any others since I have found my favorites, but I imagine it would be difficult to find a bad thing on the menu Ice cream is smooth, fresh, and delicious. The kind of melt-in-your mouth heaven that not every ice cream joint can replicate. Try one, try them all -- you probably won't be able to decide on a favorite. I'm a fan!
