I gave this restaurant 5 stars because the sushi was very good and presented nicely. We had a nice server and food came out very quickly. The chicken teriyaki flatbread was tasty. The downtown location was an easy walk from our hotel but it's street presence lacks a little. We decided to go anyway! Glad we did. I'm always hesitant to try sushi out of town, again, that is why I gave them 5 stars! A nice place and a safe bet for good sushi!

Give them all the rubies for being the only folks in town who figured out proper ramen. While I'd really like to try other things on the menu, I literally roll through here just for the ramen.

Solid. The chefs know their stuff, the servers not so much. A couple of hiccups with the order where I would order Ikura (salmon roe) but got Tobiko )flying fish roe), turns out the server was putting in the wrong order. The Sushi itself was great. the Westport roll is better, way better than it sounds... delicious. All the Nigiri was served at the correct temperature with the eel a little warm and the scallop not freezing cold. Overall great food... even the Miso soup was nice.

Decided to go to this place with my fiance to celebrate me graduating college. The sushi was great and the place was nice and clean, exactly what you want to see in a place that serves sushi. Will definitely be back.

I've been to the Westport location several times for ramen (since it doesn't seem like you can get authentic ramen anywhere else in Louisville...) but yesterday I stopped by the downtown location for lunch. I had the sushi lunch which comes with soup and salad, 5 pieces of nigiri (Chef's choice), and one roll (I chose spicy tuna) for $13. It's a fantastic deal and plenty of food for one person. The fish was very fresh - much higher quality than I was expecting from any Japanese restaurant in the Midwest. Our server was pleasant and attentive. My friend wanted the Las Vegas roll altered and they made accommodations for her with no fuss. We went around 1 PM though, after the lunch rush. I definitely plan on stopping by again soon.

I had dinner here tonight and it was great. Tempura, Guoza, and green tea ice cream all delicious. Our server, Cherie, was fantastic.

It is shocking to me that the average rating for this restaurant is not five stars. The sushi was spectacularly fresh for in the middle of the country. While it was a slow night service was quick, courteous and competent. The fact that they had four different types of tuna represented on the menu is something I haven't seen in any of the sushi restaurants I frequent on the East Coast. Prices are good and the ambience is comfortable and pleasant. When I told the waiter that I was shocked they didn't have five stars he commented that they had a rough time at New Year's. So skip busy nights and come the rest of the time.

I have been looking for a new sushi place downtown since Sapporo closed supposedly temporarily. Friend introduced me to Hikoman. First time I went in I tried the ramen and crawfish bites which were wonderful... stopped in again for happy hour had the wasabi roll and the gyoza and a couple Sapporos of course. No complaints.

AWFUL Service I've tried going to hiko-a-mon three times now, all with reservations, only to wait 15-20 minutes to even be greeted by a hostess who then tells us she just needs to get out table cleaned off. There seems to be only 3 People staffed at the downtown location no matter what. We ended up leaving after we weren't greeted with waters for 15 minutes and we didn't think an hour And a half would be enough time to eat before our event that night. It really is a shame because they do have really awesome food, but the lack of service makes me pretty bitter about paying $100+ bucks for dinner. I don't think I will be returning.

The appetizer gyoza was good and freshly house made. The miso soup was crazy salty like it had been reducing overnight. The Hiko-A-Mon salad was great with their house dressing, a must try! For sushi I got the angel shrimp, which was fantastic, but this was the highlight of the meal. For dinner, I got the hibachi double chicken which tasted like it was boiled, then tossed in their hibachi sauce and microwaved back up along with the fried rice and nuked veggies . My dinner was a joke. Its like I ordered Chinese take out and didn't get my fortune cookie!!

Best sushi I have ever had, hands down. We went for someone's birthday dinner and we sat at the "party table" which has a fountain in it. At first the fountain wouldn't work and the hostess did everything she could to get it working and it finally did! Kudos to her, she was so sweet. The service was fantastic, there were times when the server didn't really know anything about the menu, which was disappointing but nothing we couldn't over look. The Jennifer roll was absolutely AMAZING. Plus the appetizer gyoza (I think that's how it's spelled) the dumplings served with soy sauce were absolutely fantastic as well. 10/10, I'm still craving the food! I'll definitely be returning. Yum!

This place is awesome!!! Not only did they accommodate our group of girls being late but they put us in their awesome private room! The food and drinks were amazing and the staff was great! Will definitely be visiting again next time in Louisville!

Let's start with what you should order. 1. Westport roll 2. The signature dessert (that is always out lately) I been here several time but still can't order anything that I like beside these two item. They have two location now. One located in Westport road and one downtown. Which is way closer to me! (I was excited for the new location) but I don't think it's the same as the one in west port. The udon tempura was basically a bunch of vegetable deep fried together. But hey! Anything fried is yummy. The yaki soba is okay. I would ask for light oil the next time I come in though!

Best ramen in town Excellent sushi and fair prices The only restaurant in louisville with real tonkotsu broth ramen. HUGE ENORMOUS BOWL MADE FRESH EVERY DAY FOR $12. By far the best bargain on japanese food in town. Unfortunately the downtown location is a little weak in the service department.

We were in town for the national chess championship. Living just blocks away from Hiko-A-mon and since it has some good reviews, we decided to try it. Pro: great sushi. Great fatty salmon sushi/sashimi platter. Super good "fresh prawn" sushi.... Make sure tell the waitress to serve the sushi with the fried shrimp head... And eat the fried shrimp head as whole (it has a lot of flavor and the shrimp roes are inside, be careful not to poke your mouth). I know it is weird for non Asian to eat the shrimp head but it's a part of the delicacy. These are not your average shrimp in supermarket but what we call in Japan, Botan-Ebi. Like flower blossom shrimp. It is sweeter than sweet shrimp (ami-ebi) and the chuck of shrimp meat fills your tongue with flavor. It is the best. For $3.5 a piece with the fried shrimp head, eating 6-8 of these will fill you up completely. Their giant fried oysters on half shell I also a great dish. Con: don't bother with anything habachi of rice platter dish. It is Chinese cooking and subpar. That is why it's a 4 stars. If I only rate it based on sushi/sashimi, it's a 5 stars. Nobu/marimoto quality.
