This is our go to lunch sushi place. We always get the sweetheart roll. It's a hidden gem. Can't get it anywhere else. Fantastic. We love the ginger salad and the philidelphia roll is awesome. Great service and always good food.

We were sat at the grill with two others whose party was not complete. Their party was not complete for awhile. When they did show up, they could not make ups their minds. To compensate, the restaurant started our order in front of them and rushed through cooking. The food was not up to the standard that I had previously enjoyed at this location. I doubt I will return in the future.

We ended up here since Papalinos was so busy, they couldn't get us in. We were at the hibachi table, 3 individuals were there, and my party with multiple people was there, we were just waiting for 2 more. Since my friends hadn't gotten there, they wanted us to move to a different table entirely. We didn't move, our party arrived, but that just got us off to a bad start. They were very prompt with our orders, but things were forgotten. I asked for veggie fried rice, which never came. My sushi was okay, not great. I asked for chopsticks and never got them. My friends thought it was okay. Definitely, I've experienced better.

Hate to rate this place a 4/5 but the sushi just didn't do it for me. The service was spot on, don't get me wrong. No issue there. Place was clean and we were greeted and sat immediately. However... If you go for sushi, you want sushi. Am I right? While theirs wasn't horrible, it was just more on the bland side. My wife ordered a pretty decent roll but mine just seemed like an average roll, and for the price, I guess I expected a little more.

Came to this location on September 8th for lunch. Upon arrival I noticed this restaurant was empty at lunchtime. Me and a co worker had hybachi grill. The steak was pretty good but like many of its competitors way too much salt on the food. Not sure if it was the teriyaki sauce or mustard sauce but everything had a very salty flavor. Service was decent but slow. 50 /50 on if I want to return.

We tried this place for the first and last time this past weekend. I ordered hibachi and my husband ordered sushi. The sushi was decent but my hibachi wasn't good at all and there was eggshell in the rice all throughout! How do you miss that? They took it back and brought me another plate but by then my husband was done and we were just waiting for my food. The waitress was nice but didn't check on us for refills until the end and she took others order who came after us before ours....won't be returning.

If I only had this as a choice as far as Japanese steakhouses I wouldn't mind but it isn't. There are far better choices out there. Go to Kansai or Kobe if you want some flavor. Granted they all pretty much have the same show but the taste of the rice and meat is what makes the difference. If you aren't close to the other 2 it isn't the worse option.

Great sushi and friendly staff. Recommend this for folks on the east side of Louisville. I usually sit at the sushi bar and have fun with the chef(s). Hibachi tables are always good for families or people who like their fish "cooked" :)

For a suburbia sushi japanese steakhouse, Fuji is a very good tasting and moderately (albeit slightly more expensive than surrounding restaurant) priced placed. The quality of their fish is very good and fresh - and all prepared by actual japanese sushi chefs at the sushi bar. I've had a selection of menu ranging from their appetizers, to rolls, to nigiri, to hot food - including: rainbow row, dragon roll, spicy tuna roll, salmon, eel, tuna, yellowfish nigiri, and unadon. My recommendation would be to skip the miso soup, go for the spicy salmon cocktail appetizer. stick to your nigiri (fish over bed of rice - try their salmon, tuna, eel, etc) sushi and avoid their rolls as i've found the rolls to be of smaller quantities of fish and not as well seasoned/sauced compared to sushi in larger city restaurants. I've never had their steakhouse - but it looks very promising and I would certainly try it sometime soon. All-in-all, this is a great place to go for sushi in suburbia. However, I wouldn't rank it up there with the best sushi ever restaurants.

***3.5 I didn't rate this as a 4 cause I think I need to try it one more time to become a fan. Place was clean and loved the wood decor. Service was ok, could have been better since it wasn't busy when we came in to eat.. We ordered 4 rolls and I was disappointed. - Rainbow Roll: Had all avocado on top! no Sashimi, is that even called a rainbow roll with no sashimi? I think we where jipped. - California Roll: Average, its a California Roll don't think anyone can mess that up - Salmon Skin Roll: Now I'm a sucker for a this roll and this wasn't even in the menu I had to special request it. Out of all the rolls we ordered me and hubby liked this one the best. Had texture and good flavor. - Unagi Roll: (Eel Roll) This was ok as well, no real fuss about it. All their sushi's where drizzled in some kind of sauce, I wish they wouldn't have because it ruined the taste of the sushi. I understand maybe the Unagi...could be drizzled but the others no... - Happy Hour: Now love this, they had Sake for $0.99 that's super cheap served warm. Maybe if I drank this first I wouldn't have minded to much on the sushi.

My favorite Japanese steakhouse/sushi bar in the entire city of Louisville. I spent an entire week in San Fransisco a couple of weeks ago and the sushi their couldn't even touch the sushi produced by the master sushi chef's at Fuji. Super white tuna so white that I was snow blind, fish so fresh I'd swear they keep a 800 foot salt water Aquarium underneath the building. If your in the east end of Louisville and looking for a fish fix, Fuji is the place to go, hands down.

Visiting Louisville, KY on business and went to a local Japanese Hibachi place near my Marriott. Sushi was alright as an appetizer but not expertly made when you see too much rice on the outer layer. Ordered up a Filet and Shrimp from the grill and was treated to a good performance. It's hard to mess up cooking vegatables and meats on the grill unless you burn it but our chef was all for the entertainment. Excellent showmanship and tricks. Not the average flaming volcano moves but the prolonged knife demonstrations and the egg acrobatics were a sight to see. When you see the consistency done at other tables, you can tell these Hibachi chefs are pro's! You know what you are getting with Hibachi - large portions of food first soaked with butter and doused with an abundance of sauces. Not the most technical or high quality offering, but truly hits the spot. Fuji is a viable, value option for the visitor crazing for basic Hibachi.
