I thought all hibachi places were about the same: fancy hibachi tricks + passable food = decent entertainment/food. This assumption proved to be wrong at Fuji Asian Bistro. While I cannot comment on the sushi since I did not order it while I was here; I can say the hibachi was just not a good experience. The chef did not perform any of the tricks I've come to expect from a hibachi table: no onion train, no egg cracking, no shrimp toss. He did set the table on fire a couple of time...that's it. And the food? Meh...to yuck. The salad dressing tasted mainly of mayonnaise. My entrée of steak was undercooked yet chewy. Hubby's chicken was way overcooked and drowned in soy sauce. The chef kept spraying the food with more and more soy sauce...I wanted to reach out to end the chicken's misery: "you died for nothing!" And the service? Meh, also. They charged us 20% gratuity for our group of 8, which is fine for me if we did receive the level of service. But we barely got our drinks refilled and dishes cleared. The food was so salty everyone needed refills way more often than was offered. It is safe to say I will not be back. There are many better choices in Louisville.

Within the 15 minute drive home I have experienced food poisoning from undercooked scallops and shrimp. While at the restaurant the floors were sticky abd the cook interested in entertaining us instead of cooking. The chicken was left unattended to burn, vegetables were served last and were either mushy or undercooked steak was inedible. Haven't had habich in a long time wish I didn't have yours now. Will not be back.

First, I want to start by saying I am so happy we finally got sushi in the South End and it's not from Kroger! Second, I am totally spoiled by another sushi/hibachi restaurant that only takes me 10 more minutes to get to. Overall I would give Fuji a 3-3.5 rating (3.5 for hibachi & 3 for sushi). The hibachi was good and I would definitely get it again. The shrimp, rice and veggies were typical to most hibachi restaurants I've tried. The Sushi was ok but not comparable to my favorite place. I recommend anyone in the area to try Fuji out. I would visit more often if I lived a little closer.

Deelish and entertaining! Even kids love eating here and not just because of the entertainment, but because the food is yummy!

Huge portions of food even if you sit in booth and order from kitchen. The kitchen food is incredible too. This place is as good as shogun with a 2 min drive. The sushi is excellent. We've been going here since they opened and we've never been disappointed. Friendly staff and sopporo on draft deal for happy hour. Full bar, wine and sake. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed!

This is the most overpriced, tasteless sushi I've ever eaten, and I have eaten at my fair share of sushi. The rolls were small, poorly made and not made correctly, as one was missing an ingredient. We didn't come for hibachi, but that appears to be the only reason I would ever consider coming back.

It took forever for our family to find a great sushi place near our home- this place surprised us with it's beautiful atmosphere, extraordinary staff and wonderful menus items. It's a little pricey, but worth it to me. This is my go to date night restaurant!

I ate at Fuji Saturday night with my husband and some family members. First I would like to start with several months ago my husband and I went to Fuji and waited up front to be seated for probably 10 or 15 minutes and were never even acknowledged so we left. They weren't busy and there was a couple already waiting and another that came in behind us. This past Saturday they were a little busier and again we waited forever to be seated. There were 5 of us (me, my husband, my brother and his wife and their daughter) and not one of us left there happy. After finally being seated a waitress took our drink orders. We all ordered alcohol except for my 13 year old niece. Her coke was brought right away. My brother wanted red stag whiskey over ice and had to explain several times what he wanted because she had no idea what red stag is. He even pointed out the bottle behind the bar and said, "I want that in a glass over ice". She brought my husband's beer out and said our drinks had to wait because the only person who could make mixed drinks was the guy that seated us. Apparently he is also the only one who clears dishes, sets out new plates, seats people, and sweeps the floor which is what he was continuously doing. We really considered leaving at this point but my niece really wanted the soup, rice, and to see the onion volcano they typically light at the grill. My sister in law and I finally got our drinks and they asked my brother again what he wanted and he explained, again, what he wanted. He even said he would make it himself if needed. So she went behind the bar and brought him a shot of whiskey. He said I want a glass with ice and that in the glass. FINALLY she brought him his drink. Then here comes our guy to make the food. He didn't do any tricks or anything fun except for toss rice to us to catch in our mouth. No fire smiley face, no onion volcano, nothing. Then when he served our food he skipped right over me with the veggies. Granted I had plenty to eat but it just added to the evening of disappointment. The only good thing I can say is the food tasted amazing. But we will not be returning to this location. We live on Dixie so that's why we ate here. We will make the drive to Westport roads Fuji because we have never had one bad experience there. They should have just made Hobby Lobby bigger by taking over the space that is Fuji because it's a waste to keep that restaurant there.

Passable experience. The yellowtail was bad today, but the spices tuna was yummy.

I've been here 3 times now and every time I get the same dish. Time number one at the hibachi it was delicious! Times 2 and 3 were at the table and both times my dish has been awful. The rice was overcooked and the chicken doesn't even taste like chicken. I'm giving up on this place now.

If you like the Japanese style cooking experience where things are prepared in front of you, and the dinner is also entertainment, this is a very reasonable place to eat. We hosted a dinner for 20 here, and the bill was under $20/person including drinks. They also have sushi, though I haven't tried it.

I'm in KY for a business trip. I came here looking for lunch and wanted something other than Waffle House or some deep fried fast food chain. From the parking lot, I thought this place was closed ... when you first walk in, it feels more bar than restaurant. I ordered take out and they had a full menu (with a page of lunch options) and a separate selection of sushi and rolls. It took almost 15-20 minutes to get my teriyaki steak lunch box - which for $8.00 was an awesome deal. It came with steak, tempura, veggies, rice and California rolls. For whatever reason, I got both fried rice and a side of white rice with my order. Pity I had to throw it out. I didn't end up eating till almost 3 hours after I picked up the food so most of it was cold and soggy. The California rolls were decent. The steak on the other hand had no teriyaki sauce ... just cubes of beef with no flavor. That was disappointing. The steak itself was fine - but without the teriyaki sauce it sort of misses the mark. Not everything moves at the pace at which this type A Cali girl moves so I won't judge it by those expectations. Looks like they had a teppenyakki grill so it might be worth checking out again.

Don't let the outside fool you. Once through the doors, there is a beautiful Asian restaurant inside. On my first visit, I felt like I entered into Bizarro World, but in a good way. I could not believe the hidden gem that I had found. They have several hibachi tables with performing chefs. There is a full sushi menu with basic roll starting around $4 and specialty rolls topping out around $16. There is plenty of room for large parties and the service is always efficient. I try to visit Fuji at least once a month to cure my sushi fix and I have yet to have a disappointment. If you are near, never fear. Give Fuji a try and you just might find your new hidden gem.

So, let me set up the story and ending. Driving 20 minutes from Fort Knox, KY to go see the Karate Kid and starving. What ended up happening? We saw the A Team and ate sushi. Where? Fuji! Granted it was right next to the BWWs and i really wanted chicken wings but sushi is always first in my heart. Well, right next to HIMYM. So we buy our tickets for the 7:20 show and it's 6:54. Not only did they have $1 Miller Lites from 3-7pm but they were a hibachi place too. But all we saw in our sites was sushi. We had 26 minutes, give or take. The atmosphere was relaxed and but was really empty. The waitress and the seating system of this place is weird. It's like they didn't even want us there. Moving on, all us 5 ladies sat down and instantly jumped for the sushi menu. None of us got any of the special rolls. They were around $10.95. So all of us got at least 2 sushi rolls per person. The Philly, Boston, New York and California rolls were bought. Yep, we love America. Others got the Sweet Potato, Spicy Tuna and Alaskan roll. I got the Spicy Tuna and Alaskan. It was ok. And that's why it's a 2/5 star. Total? $11. I also got the green tea. NOW THAT WAS AWESOME. The sushi took about 23 minutes to come out. That. Was. Bullshit. We were the ONLY people in there and it took so long. Unacceptable. The Alaskan was not very flavorful and it was just ok. The Spicy Tuna was just ok. It had some kind of crunch in it but the sauce was not SPICY at all. I was so disappointed. I feel like everything about this restaurant either pissed me off or was just mediocre. Not for me. (PS. Sweet potatoes was the best. Yep, the one without the fish)

I went there with a co worker on a business trip. The hotel mentioned this was a good place to eat and even though I am a bit skeptical sometimes when a hotel recommends a place I decided to try it. The famous roll is the Kentucky roll. It is deep fried. Go figure. Everything in this part of the country is fried, so why not sushi. It is very reasonably priced for Sushi and it was good. I would go back if i was looking for sushi in the area.

Let me start by saying that I am looking for the quiet Zen of traditional. This is not it. This just fills in my sashimi crave until I can find the right place. Its clean, bathrooms too. Its trendy and very loud. Been here a couple of times. Service is always slow. Menu is limited. No quail eggs. Rolls are always too big to bite. Not alot of the more traditionally Asian rolls. Very pricey as most Japanese places are. Only "deals" are on domestic and -once in a blue moon- Japanese beer and that days' sushi roll. Management is condescending, waitstaff is slow an has trouble with english- Hispanic, not Asian. Has a sushi bar. The booths around it offer NO privacy. Most of the noise comes from the TableShow area. I guess thats where i missed the mark. The tableshow seems very popular. I'm just not into eating with strangers. I just find the whole experience to be slow, loud, and intrusive. NOT what I go to a Japanese place for! The last time I went, I sat down. Waited 10 minutes and had to go get someone. She (speaks no English- I had to order in Spanish) brought me a menu and took my drink order. She came back in 5 WITHOUT my drink, informed me they had NO sparklers available and took my food order. I ordered from the sushi menu and a diet coke. Instead of turning my order in, I watched her take 5 or 6 checks to the pos system, figure all the bills, then chase everyone down to give them their change WITH MY ORDER STILL UNDER HER ARM!!! I was ther 20 minutes total- parched. I got up and left, never to return.
