After eating out all week at $40 a shot restaurants, we just wanted a low cost dinner before going to the hotel. This was a nice surprise. Two dinners for $11, and the food was very good, we said we need to do more of these types of diners

I went there for the first time with family. This place is AWESOME! The food was delicious, the bathrooms very clean and the murals on the bathroom walls were so cute! The staff was super friendly. I instantly loved this place!

I try to frequent the Frontier at least 2 to 3 times a month, mostly on weekends for breakfast. They have all the traditional breakfast foods, and a nice lunch menu. Service is good, but be prepared to wait a little if it is crowded inside. It has a family owned feel, with a hardcore local customer base. Everyone working knows all the customers but are still extremely friendly to newcomers. You may even get a hello from the cook at the pickup window. I'm still waiting to get one of those. The decor is a mix of coke cola wallpaper, decretive dishes, cozy booths and traditional diner tables. It kind of made me feel like I was at my grandma's house, but in a good way. If you are in the area, stop by for some good eats!

Joe S. sums it up great. Yummy, fresh diner food. Clean and friendly. What more can you ask for? And yeah, I meant to post this last year...

Frontier Diner is a "down home" country diner that does a just a few items, but does them very well. I can not think of a better place to get a comfort food breakfast, no matter what time it is, and they also have rotating lunch specials that are excellent. I have not tried anything there that I have not not liked, but a couple of my favorites are the biscuits and gravy, and ANY omelet that they serve, especially the Western omelet. The service is very friendly, and the prices are good. It is a smaller place though, and since is has a large underground following, it can be very crowded at times. They are also closed Mondays and they do not stay open late on any day. If you are looking for breakfast food in south Louisville, this IS the place to go.

Old school breakfast. Nothing more, nothing less. Good stuff.

Very small independent diner. Definitely worth a check out. Most of the menu is inexpensive and the food is really great. These guys know how to make a mean omelette.

Locally owned. Very small. Proper diner. Reminds me of Mayberry. Everyone knows each other. Nice vibe. Super friendly. Good prices. Tasty food. Went to the bathroom. Walked in on a man taking a poop. He didn't lock the door. Why didn't he lock the door? Our eyes met. I scurried away. Apologized. He came out later. We didn't look at each other. Awkward. Didn't ruin my experience. Still 5 stars.

This is a five star diner. As I told my daughter, you know, the one who says I'm a bitch in these reviews, a diner is compared to other diners. A Ramsi's is compared to other similar places. This is among the best of diners. The food is not greasy. The eggs are light and fluffy. The hashbrowns, as the name would suggest, are brown! The coffee is surprisingly flavorful (many diners seem to serve tepid brown water). Service was above average and this place is sparkling clean. Well done! This is another south end find that should be stealing away the hoards on Market (aka "Brunch Row"). Of course, the wares off the back of the Sysco truck up there can't compare to home made goodness from real cooks.

Nice little diner, a place for regulars and where tourist would love to come across, I had lunch chicken enchilada, ehh, not the greatest, but sounded good at the time. I got fried okra, which was true- not greasy- fried okra and mashed potatoes, which was a rounded scoop w white gravy, pretty good. Not too many diners this cute and authentic. Staff is great and decor is homemade. I try to stop in now and again.

May seem like you're stealing a regulars seat if you sit anywhere but that's the feel! Exceptional food, thick cut bacon and far better than any chain diner in the area. If you're driving down the Dixie hwy and you need that comfort breakfast this is the spot

I'd been wanting to try Frontier Diner for some time, as I live not far from this local breakfast hotspot, and I've gotten tired of Jerry's as one of the few restaurants along the Dixie that you can actually get a decent breakfast. I was not disappointed. Frontier is cozy and spot on as diners go, Coca-Cola wallpaper, bar stools the perfect height for my boys, and just the right number of tables. I suspect it can get crowded but I don't know that I'd want it to be much larger and lose some of its charm. And the service is oh so friendly, the type of friendly you can only get at a diner, where the waitstaff and cooks crack jokes and make lively conversation with the customers and locals, making you feel welcome and just part of the family, The food, at least for breakfast, is good, with enormous portions. The triple stack of pancakes is a plate-sized stack of super fluffy cakes and even the simple biscuits and gravy is pretty substantial. Flavor-wise, they're pretty standard and maybe slightly bland but based on the sheer size of the omelette someone ordered, I've got to come back for that and soon.

Wow. Stepping back in time. At first I thought the menu prices (placemats under glass on the tables) were a joke. $ 3.95 for a burger. Adorned with Coca Cola art and memorabilia, it's a true diner. A handful of burger and sandwich options, daily special, and breakfast all day. Our server showed us good old fashioned southern hospitality, even calling me "sweetie". Seemed truly sincere and very pleasant. Mid afternoon, and the few folks in the place were all "regulars" on a first name basis. My colleague and I each ordered the meatloaf special. 2 sides. Bread large portion, $7. All homemade, delicious, and cooked just right (moist not dry). If you drive by, stop by. You will be pleased

Switched it up and did the lunch menu today. My fiancé got the the burger. (She actually got the last one as they sold out of the burgers as everyone says they are great!) I talked the waitress into making a Rachel sandwich as they had the Reubens and also a smoked Turkey sandwich on the menu. Food was great! Burger was juicy and the Rachel sandwich was perfect. The side of fried Okra was delicious as always!

Came here looking for a diner on the southside, and got just that. Reviews were decent and gave me a good idea what to expect. The coca cola wall paper is a bit much, but definitely diner-refic. There isn't a ton of seating and it can fill up fast. The food was nothing out of this world but got the job done, especially for the price. I ordered a coffee, a few eggs over medium and a single flapjack. The eggs were not cooked properly, they were more over easy. This is a common problem in restaurants around the country. Very difficult to find someone who can cook proper over medium eggs. The flapjack was good, but could have been a tad sweeter. The coffee, I actually thought was pretty darn good. I wanted to ask what it was, but didn't for fear they'd come back and say it was Maxwell house and then I'd have to admit I liked Maxwell house. All of this for $4.90.
