Great BBQ. I LOVE the ribs. Huge portions, you will not leave this place hungry.

Food is good but new menu makes this very expensive place to eat. Use to eat here several times a month no more.

Lunch with 4 coworkers, seated promptly, good service, not bad BBQ but kinda underwhelming. I liked the sauces although there wasn't a huge difference between a few of them. Kinda small servings, although it was the $5 lunch specials so maybe they shrink the sandwiches and sides compared to the regular menu. I'd say Frankfort Ave Beer Depot blows them out of the water in terms of quality BBQ'd meats and tasty sides.... but then again, Famous Dave's is on the cleaner and less "divey" side of things. Basically there is nothing wrong with this place, just nothing that makes me want to return either.

Love love looooove their ribs. I can't really compare this place to other rib places because I haven't been to any, but this place is good that I don't care about trying out other places. I like to get their ribs naked because they have like 5 different sauces on the table for you to dip. When the ribs come with the sauce, and you dip them in other sauces, it's just too much. Get them naked so that you can dip them in whatever flavored sauce you want. Half a rack of ribs are around $16 and full rack is $23. They come with a cornbread and 2 sides of your choice. Pretty good deal. Join their P.I.G. newsletter thing. They send you a buy one get one free entree for your birthday. The staff is friendly and very attentive. Highly recommend this place if you haven't had ribs before, or even if you have. Yum yum yum. Oh, when you come here on the weekends, try coming around 6 because after 6, you'll be waiting for a while.

MR says... sorry MARKs FEED but im switching to FAMOUS DAVES for BBQ MRS says... blame it on the FOOD NETWORK where they featured FAMOUS DAVES as one of the BBQ RIBS PARADISE plus the cook-off episode of best BBQ in the nation. i've been an apple bee's and tony romas kinda BBQ gal but since we've moved to Louisville i've been fortunate to taste marks feed store bbq but since we've found famous daves... i have a change of heart. it was our first visit so we were given a sauce test 101. the short demo gave us a bit of understanding on which sauces goes well with what. food was served promptly and service was spectacular i think.

When in the mood for a good chain restaurant, this is one of my favs. Good bang for your buck: Most meals come with corn on the cob and cornbread. You have your choice for two additional sides. The barbecue at this restaurant is not prepared on the meat--you add it yourself at the table. I like this because a variety of about five sauces are in bottles on the table... anxiously awaiting your squeezing fingers! Chicken on the bone, chicken strips, ribs, pork... it's all here. The atmosphere inside is that of a regular chain steakhouse. The whole family is welcome and anyone should feel comfortable here. It's a fun place. It's a theme restaurant. You'll feel like you parked your old '62 pick-up truck next to an old service station and crawled out for a bite to eat. Cool place.

I really liked so much of this restaurant. The meat was really good quality and tasty. I had the baked beans which were some the best I've ever eaten. The meals come with a lot of side items so it does offset the higher price. I went on dave's day so got my meal free because of my name. Really good experience. You should try it out.

For a BBQ place as a chain, this is actually quite good. After my recent exposure to the succubus that is Mark's Feed Store, my roommate recommended Famous Dave's. I would be sitting at 4 stars just because it is VERY good BBQ for a chain, BUT the service got me. Service started out very nice and sweet. I ordered the 2-meat dinner with 2 sides with cornbread. My brisket wasn't the best, but it was good/decent. They had a variety of BBQ sauces you could try and fit your style. I liked Texas Pit and the Sweet and Saucy(which I believe is their signature sauce). The meal got me with the hot links, very well done and delicious. Reminded me of back home when I used to get some of the best hot link sandwiches. The french fries, were sub par but the mac and cheese was tasty as well. It had a jalapeno spice that gave it that little extra kick. Their Texas toast was decent but just bread with butter lightly toasted. The service was not bad, just nonexistent. Every time our server left we felt like she took a 15 min break. Our 30 minute visit took twice as long due to wait times. Although they were very nice and helpful when present. Another downside is that I received less food for the price I paid for it. Overcharging for that amount was a little over the top for me. But like I said above, the food was pretty decent, service was good when there. So 3 stars seems great for this chain.

Mediocre food, inattentive service and way too loud (can't carry on a conversation with your dinner mates).

My new go to BBQ place. I knew they had good sauce from what I bought in the stores, little did I know they have pretty good food overall too. Good value and good food for a chain. Not the best I have ever had but atleast you know what you are getting and you will leave satisfied.

All major BBQ meats are represented. I had a strong urge for BBQ and was disappointed by some of the local smoke houses. The food was great and the staff was friendly.

Another better than average chain restaurant. It is not the best BBQ in town, but it is tasty, in fact, everything that I have had at Famous Daves has been good food, and plenty of it. I am a fan of Wilbur's Beans, and have taken to buying the Hellfire pickles by the jar at Kroger's. The Devil's Spit Burger is one of the better hamburgers in town. The ribs, while tasty, are average, but the BBQ sauces are all good. The smoked sausage has excellent flavor, and a satisfying "snap" to the casing. Service is good and friendly, with Famous Tiffany being my nominee for best waitress.

I love Bar-B-Q so I was really looking forward to going here to try it. I'm glad I did. The brisket is very good, not Memphis, but good. It was tender, juicy and flavorful. Sides of baked beans, onion rings and a cold glass of iced tea and I was good to go. Service was good and friendly. Also very clean.

Just stopped in for the first time yesterday for lunch. My friend had burned edges brisket burger and I had a burger with fried onions. Yummy and reasonable. Great waitstaff and not very crowded - made for a very enjoyable lunch. Great experience.

Definitely better than most chain restaurants. I like BBQ a lot and Famous Dave's is great. I've been many times but I tried the brisket for the first time last night and it was awesome. Sometimes brisket can be too fatty or tough which it shouldn't be if it's done right and Dave's does brisket right. It was moist and very tender. It also had great smoky flavor and I didn't even feel the need to add BBQ sauce to it! The mashed potatoes were a little bland but the baked beans were good. We also had the onion strings appetizer which I loved. The roumoulade sauce for dipping is amazing. We also tried the BBQ nachos with chopped pork as an appetizer and it was great also. The chips were a tad soggy but all of the flavors were great together. The margaritas are also awesome. I don't normally think of margaritas and BBQ going hand in hand but it's a great combination! On other visits I've had the jalapeño Mac and cheese and it is delicious. Really creamy and just a little spicy. I also love the country roasted chicken and the Georgia chopped pork. Famous Dave's is one of the best chain restaurants around.

Way better than we thought it was gonna be. Had the Georgia Pork and the brisket. Pork was delicious. Wife had the chicken and the fried catfish and they both were awesome. Definitely would recommend. Also had the burnt ends as an appetizer and the pickled onions were the bomb diggity.

Do you like BBQ? Do you love to eat? A lot? Then try this place out. Each table is equipped with numerous delectable sauces to try out. The portions are HUGE. And the food is amazing. You will be in Hog Heaven. Literally.

Oh boy. This was a hard review to write. But it must be put out there for the unaware. First understand that I love good BBQ and Famous Dave's has always been in my top 3. No question. So what went wrong you ask. Let me tell you. We arrived for dinner to a busy restaurant Memorial Day. However we were seated right away. Good sign? Well.... Our server came to the table and I noticed he didn't have a nametag on. OK I admit it's been a while since we have been able to eat here. He explained that they no longer wear the nametags. It seems that Famous Dave got himself canned for trying to sell the BBQ recipe some months back. So no more nametags (can you say what's my server's name?), no more t-shirts, just black polos (is that my server or a guest?), no more sauces on the table, no more BBQ chips to munch on. OK, I get it, new management, new rules. Doesn't mean I have to like them. Now for the fun. Comes time to order and our server (was his name Matt or Mike, I'm not sure and he didn't have a nametag on) informs us that they are out of ribs. SAY WHAT!!??? A rib place out of ribs??? OK, no problem, they have a ton of other items. While everyone else ordered I finally made a decision based on our servers (Bill?) recommendation. I asked to do a ribs plus meat dinner, but sub the Burnt Ends seeing as they were out of ribs. It took a little talking but Joe? said he would see if that would be OK. Appears the servers can't make decisions to satisfy the guest. Wait - it gets better. After he goes to the kitchen he comes back and informs me they do have ribs now! Yay! (wait, don't ribs have to cook all day?) So I change my order to the ribs I dearly wanted. Wait - it gets better. The food took forever to come out. Seems one of my friends burgers was done wrong and he had it redone. Just didn't bother to tell us. Finally the food arrives. Now for the fun part. My friends burger was overdone and dry with totally burnt bacon on it. Wait - it gets better. My eagerly anticipated ribs - cold, and tougher than shoe leather (not that I've actually had shoe leather, but you get the idea). I call Louis over (is that his name?) and tell him the problem and ask for some pulled pork. He said that would be no problem and went to put the order in. Our server returns to the table and asks if he can take the ribs back to the kitchen because it's easier to get on the cook if he has the bad meal in front of him. Really? He said that out loud? I was wondering why he left the ribs in front of me after I asked to send them back. On the plus side, the pork was hot and good. On the negative side - the only adjustment to the bill was to charge for what I got. No offer of take care of it. No offer of desert for the long wait and bad dinner. No manager ever came over to make sure everything was OK. Just a thanks, please pay me (is his name John?) and come again. As I always say - every place has problems. It's how they deal with the problem that is important. For the new improved Famous Dave's I call this an EPIC FAIL! My dilemma in all of this. The BBQ is still one of the best. But it will be quite some time before I go back. I'm going to give them time to work out their issues and figure out that maybe Dave knew a thing or two about how to treat a guest.

The food is really good. I love their mac n cheese. I don't like their shredded pork because it's pretty fatty.

I really wish I could give a better review. After all I had heard about this place I was really excited for it. Perhaps I am being harsher than normal because I was so let down. I was also a little embarrassed due to having informed my guests that this place was all the rave. The service was very fast and welcoming. In fact there are only two major complaints but they matter. One, the "famous" ribs that I could not wait to try we're very fatty and undercooked. It could have just been our batch maybe, but I have never had ribs so hard to get off the bone in my life. Not just mine, others in the party experienced the same thing. The sauces are extremely tasty. The mashed potatoes have too much garlic in them. The coleslaw and corn bread muffins however, were some of the best the party had had. Great, friendly environment, just a fail on the food.
