This is one of the better El Nopal's in town. Service is usually super fast and the food has always been great. You can't beat the price if you have coupons and order one of the drink specials. It may not be the best Mexican food around but it's a great place to eat.

You know this place is doing something right when it is busy on a weekend night, with still little to no wait and this place is a bit hidden from the main strip. I have visited a different location before in L'Ville and every experience has been mostly consistent and tasty. I really enjoy their chips and salsa and what is nice is each person gets their own small bowl and multiple little pitchers of mild and spicy, so if you want to mix them to your own strength, it is easy to do so! On my last visit, they were super fast about keeping our chips refilled! We got a couple pitchers of Dos Equis (great price too btw) and a variety of food, everyone seemed to like what they ordered but my tacos ended up really wet due to oil or something but I ate them regardless because they still tasted fine. It is still your what-you-expect chain Mexican food place but their prices are good and food is tasty. Our server was polite and speedy which was definitely noted because of how busy they were. I am sure we'll be back soon.

If you know what real Mexican food is then this stuff is pure puke. They have got to be kidding.

Although the building itself is tucked away, the location is still very easy to find and the building itself is very big. El Nopal is El Nopal any place you go in the city, if you've been to one, you've got a good idea of what they're all like. My boyfriend and I split the burrito Gigante, which is the only one that comes with cheese sauce on top. It was plenty for both of us, and we were pretty hungry. Have a good trip out there! Do like we did-work up an appetite canoeing Floyd's Fork before you go!

Happened to find this place behind the Arby's after a stop off the interstate. It is typical of standard Mexican-American fare with a few of exceptions... 1. the food that should be hot is. 2. The food that should be cold is. 3. Everything tastes fresh. 4. The service is good. Great place!

Nothing bad to say about our visit. Whole family was greeted and sat without any wait. They have cheese dip and chips so good I almost punched someone in the throat. Yes. I said it. Our meal was served quickly and without any issues. The menu was what you might expect from your typical Mexican joint but it was done well. Will certainly visit again.

Having grown up in Texas, I can tell you this was not good Mexican food. Fajitas were greasy, chopped in pieces and luke warm at best. Rice was cold. Avocados were not fresh and the salsa was ketchuppy. The service was OK except when asked if they would make enchiladas with fajita meat and they said no. The manager tried to explain it took too long which was ridiculous.

Always good. One of our regular spots. Love the burritos Mexicanos with enchilada sauce added on. Kids love it. So fast for a sit down. Stay away from fish tacos though. All else probably good.

THE CUSTOMERS: We had a total of two adults and one child that went to this restaurant. THE LOCATION: The location is right off Shelbyville Road on the west side of I-265 in front of the "newer" Wal-Mart shopping center. It is in a small retail shopping center next to an emergency clinic. FIRST IMPRESSION: Looks clean from the outside. Nice looking restaurant. Very roomy on the inside. THE SELECTION: Had all the standard far of Mexican restaurants. THE PRICE: The price came out to be around $22 for the both of us. That is with the drinks, the tax and the tip, so it was not too bad. Prices seem moderate for the area. THE FOOD: The food was delicious. We ordered from the "Combination Plates" section and we had plenty of food. Between the chips and Salsa and your entree....you should be set. It was enough to feed our little one too since we did not order her a separate meal. OVERALL: This place is good for families. Good for kids and good for groups. They have a little bar area for the "after work" crowd. They were good on the refills (which always determines our tips) and I would recommend this place to any of my friends.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
