I've been to other El Nopal Restaurans and they were fine but Run...do not walk...away from this one. To begin with, there was a roaming hispanic singer with a guitar who was extremely loud, I mean SCREAMING LOUD!!! Very annoying. Then the food came. Very bland and dry. Not much sauce on anything. The best thing about the meal was the chips and salsa!!! So sorry...I'll go to another Mexican restaurant next time.

Best El Nopal in Louisville. Pours are heavy. The food is cheap but great. Sometimes the customer service is bad. It can be slow and not so good. Go on Mondays and Wednesdays.

There is much better Mexican choices in Louisville. This place is within walking distance of my house, which is the only reason I visit. The food is nothing special. Everything I've tried has been pretty bland. The prices are high unless you order from the a la carte section. The service is friendly, but not more so than any other Mexican place. I've found the service is always nice at Mexican restaurants. They sometimes have good deals on beer and margaritas, so that's the only reason I've found to return.

I know there are a chain of these around town. This is the first one I've eaten. Service was fast and good. The food was great. I'll eat there again. The one thing that stood out to me the most, was how clean it that place was, especially the bathroom. I will be back.

Get together frequently with a good friend for lunch here. They have best chips and salsa & some of the hottest sauces for your entrees. I love the chicken taco salad and the chicken tortilla soup. Very good margaritas. Mon & Wed specials - 12 oz. margaritas are $1.99.

mmmm. Went there for lunch and I had the crab quesadilla lunch special which comes with rice and I ordered a half sized queso because I didn't think the quesadilla was quite cheesy enough. That made it perfect. My co-worker ordered some chicken with rice and cheese. He loved it. We both had so much leftover that we would have enough for two meals each. Service was fast and friendly.

I've been going to El Nopal for my Mexican fix since 2009. I always go on a Monday where they have their lime margaritas priced at only $1.99 each. The place is clean and the servers are very nice. They all remember us too and they already know what we're getting the moment they see us coming through the door. They greet us with a smile and would joke around us most of the time. My all time favorites here are the Chori Pollo and the Quezo Fundido. They are pretty much the same thing except that the chori pollo has chorizo, chicken, quezo and rice while the quezo fundido has only quezo and chorizo. They are both served with tortillas. I would occasionally get their beef/chicken soft tacos, which are also very good. I got disappointed the last time I went though as they have changed their recipe for it. Unlike before when it was just meaty and cheesy, it's now wet and runny with onions in it. I hope it was just a one time thing because I really like those. :( Nevertheless, I've tried other Mexican restos for Margarita Mondays but nothing compares to El Nopal!

Excellent Dinner spot. Quick with the chips and drinks. Specials almost every night. The place is very clean and well kept. The staff is friendly. They have an extensive menu. Loads of combinations. Food is very well prepared and the seafood specialties are not to be missed. Yum!

This is one of the better El Nopal's in town. I go here sometimes with family or to get take out. They are normally quick with their service. The Chicken Salad, Chicken Fajitas, and Tilapia are always my go to dishes. The restaurant is within a shopping complex, so there is plenty of parking. The prices are decent, and the lunch menu is pretty cheap.

Weird setup for any restaurant, which could be overcome with good food. Unfortunately the food fell short and ended up being below average Mexican food. There are much better places to get Mexican food in the city, some even in a trailer. Not somewhere I will be going back to anytime soon

One of my favorite places for lunch. Consistently on the spot with the food all the time. Great service and family atmosphere. Superfast service and great prices!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
