I am sorry to report that I became ill from eating at Eggs Over Frankfort. Ate their two mornings ago, couldn't leave the house the rest of that day or yesterday. I am certain it was their food, unfortunately- I had a cup of tea in the morning and then their breakfast sandwich with turkey sausage and a couple of hours later (well, I'll spare you the details). I rarely get sick like that and it set in right after eating their food so I know that there was something very wrong with something they fed me. It's unfortunate because the place was fun and the sandwich was actually delicious (it was then). Can't go back.

I'm fairly convinced that this place is only popular because it is on Frankfort Avenue. The restaurant is very small and understaffed. The only place to wait for a table is out front on the sidewalk. That is fine when the weather is warm and sunny but I can't imagine what the place will be like when it rains or is cold out. Once we were seated at a table the wait for our food was at least 30 minutes. During that time we noticed that only one table in the entire restaurant had food. The menu is basic breakfast items and is comparable to most southern greasy spoon diners. If you are looking for anything creative look elsewhere. I ordered an omelet and cheese grits. My boyfriend had the breakfast burrito and breakfast potatoes. The omelet was seasoned but overcooked (brown and crusty). My cheese grits were so thick that they were served as a formed scoop on the plate. They tasted fine but the extremely thick texture was unexpected. My boyfriend really liked the breakfast burrito. He said it was very moist and flavorful. However, his potatoes were bland and under-seasoned. There was nothing really appalling about this breakfast but I definitely wouldn't make a special trip to come back.

DELICIOUS FOOD. What more needs to be said? I went to Eggs Over Frankfort this past Sunday for my birthday breakfast. Admittedly, it was my second choice. I really wanted to go to one of my favorites - Toast on Market, but I was worried with Forecastle going on at the Waterfront that they would be jam-packed. I think this ended up being for the better because now I have another breakfast favorite. Let me tell you, Louisville is not lacking in awesome breakfast/brunch places if you're willing to search a little. I originally was leery about going there because I was afraid I would only be able to get savory breakfast options. There are no diets on birthdays after all, so I wanted some dessert, I mean french toast, for breakfast. :) This place did not disappoint. While they didn't have some of the unique options Toast would have, the good old fashioned French Toast from Eggs Over Frankfort was awesome. My boyfriend and Dad both got the Breakfast Burger which impressed them both - not an easy obstacle to overcome. My mom got a build your own omelette and my sister got waffles. In the end we all left full and happy. I will definitely be returning in the near future.

"This is a very good restaurant that serves excellent breakfast food at a fair and reasonable price. Those who claim to be dissatisfied are likely concerned with petty nonsense. There is an item on the menu called the Everything. It is $10. I suggest you try it. The breakfast burger is also good." --My friend, Ron Swanson i.imgur.com/mOw7acG.jpg

I went for brunch on a Sunday morning. The atmosphere is great and the workers are so nice! We waited about 20 minutes to be seated and a longer while for our food, but the waitress explained that the kitchen is small and a group of 8's food was put in before ours. No big deal. The coffee kept pouring while we waited so that was fine! I got the breakfast burrito (which I failed to take a picture of) but added the gravy over top with fresh fruit on the side. It was so great and filling. I'll definitely return!

Meh.we decided to go here instead of wild eggs because we knew the wait there would be long. Well, the wait was equally long at EOF and the wait for the food was even longer (45-50min)! I had 3 cups of coffee while waiting for the food and I had to turn her down on my 4th refill. I really wanted to like this place but it's ok for what it is. My omelette was good from what I remember but I scarfed it down along with my small side of fruit in 3min. Shoulda went to wild eggs ...

It definitely has a home cooked feel which was fun! My husband had the scrambled eggs with cheese and loved them. I got fried eggs and was a little disappointed. BUT we both thought the FRENCH TOAST was delicious! I would come back just for French toast and the service was good.

The wait here is unrealistic on the weekend. Not going to bother coming back until they have a better seating situation.

This is the second time I have been to eggs over Frankfort. We went back because we had an excellent experience the first time but the second time was so bad that I'm not sure I'll ever be back. They over cooked the bacon so much that a was basically just ash, and the biscuits were so dry they crumbled and we were only able to eat the inside. Not to mention we spent about $30 on 3 biscuits and gravy and 2 orders of biscuits only to not eat the majority of it. Very unfortunate. I posted a couple pictures with this post so you can see what I mean!

Another great brunch place! The menu looked amazing, especially some of their sweeter fare. Their eggs benedict uses Canadian bacon rather than ham, which was a disappointment to me, but was still quite good. I'd come back and try other things for sure. The staff was very friendly and worked hard to be accommodating.

If you enjoy cold potatoes and a mediocre kitchen, this is the place for you. Breakfast for six this morning was so disappointing. Sent four orders back for heating. And then not worth the time or money.

I had been looking forward to going to this place for some time. Its close to my house AND its my favorite meal of the day, breakfast. The place is small, but its homey and cute. We walked in and were settled at a table towards the front. Our service was decent considering it was a busy time. My friend went with the country breakfast, cinnamon roll for her meal and I went with the buttermilk pancakes and cheese grits. Her breakfast was good- the fried eggs were a bit burnt, but edible. My pancakes were good, until half way through, I noticed bacon pieces that were baked into 2 of the pancakes. I'm vegetarian so I took them aside and asked my friend if it was bacon. She ate it and confirmed. I cut up the rest of the pancakes and didn't directly spot any others, but just felt so uncomfortable at this point, I stopped eating. I didn't want to create a scene, but wanted the server to be aware. When I brought it his attention I was told that the grill is used for many things, so its common for stuff to overlap and for this to happen at other breakfast places as well, and that I should have informed them earlier I was vegetarian. They offered to bring me more pancakes, but at that point I didn't even want to have any more. I know grills are used for multiple things, and I understand that. However, I did not expect to specify that I'm vegetarian for buttermilk pancakes. Also, that does not explain the bacon getting baked into the pancakes themselves. I have been to multiple breakfast places around town-including Barbara Lee's which has a pretty extensive grill used for multiple things. This has never happened to me before. So word to the wise- if you have allergies, dietary restrictions, etc, you have to tell them in advance regardless of what you get on the menu.

We had been wanting to try this place since it opened and this morning finally did! The place is adorable. Everything is mis-matched and just odd ball-- which is total foodie hipster indie chic. I would give more stars, however there was a baby spider in the salt shaker so we requested a new one, the POS system lost our order so it took over 45 min to get our food and tables who arrived long after us got their food first, and the server rolled her eyes at my wife when she mentioned that others were getting served before us when they had parties of 5+ and we were a party of 2. The manager did come over and apologize and that was nice of her. When the food finally came, we ordered a cinnamon roll to share and the inside was good but the outside was hard. Still worth trying again to see if a fresh one is as good as the other tables' looked. The other food was delicious though! We may go back, may not. The good food vs the rest makes it a toss up.

I tried Eggs Over Frankfort a few weekends ago. It was great but not memorable enough for me to remember to write the review! I gave it 4 stars because I really can't complain about it. They had basic breakfast offerings (pancakes, eggs, buiscuits and gravy, etc) and good coffee. The service was a littlw slow but it's still new and the servers were all really nice. I ordered the Eggs in a Basket and my husband had buiscuits and gravy. The food was decent and I would definitely go again but it may not be the top of my "must-go-back-to" list. That is the only thing that is keeping me from putting a fifth star... I hate to punish them for doing nothing wrong but I didn't want to reward them for being almost unforgettable.

Great feel to the place, but the food is more diner quality which is a shame Grits plain and need doctored, potato no flavor needed a lot of salt and pepper as did the scrambled eggs. Country Benedict was good and filling, but again no salt. Cinnamon bun was pretty good, little hard on outside ring but inner layers were great. No need for more than one, plenty to share. Bacon pancakes were very good, couldn't tell if it was candied bacon but definitely bacon and pancakes mix well. Huge portion of pancakes plenty to take home. Grits were huge disappointment, this is why most people hate grits. Not as bad as cracker barrel, but close. My recommendation goto wild eggs for grits of the day....that's what people want. Overall they have some potential, feels like highland morning but food is not there yet. A few changes and I could see them being around for a while. Bill was similar to wild eggs, but food was not worth that price yet. Second trip back the biscuits were extremely hard and the omelette was just not good. I really wanted to like the food but everything just fell short. I will say the potatoes did have some seasoning this time, but the poor quality of the omelette was very disappointing. I wish the guys from Super Chef made the food here, it would be a great combination

So happy to finally have a local breakfast joint in the neighborhood! A warm, welcoming atmosphere with an old-fashioned vibe. Great menu with all the classics offered and a few twists without going too far off the traditional breakfast path. Cheese grits are a must-have and the eggs were cooked to perfection! Looking forward to trying the 'Sweets' section of the menu next time. Price was very reasonable - $18 for two large plates, oj, and an extra side.

As many before have said, the food was decent but not really memorable. Good coffee and good variety on the menu. I think what might be the issue is that there are just so many outstanding brunch places in Louisville, and Eggs Over Frankfort just doesn't stand out like some of the others. Again, nothing wrong with the food, but just not as memorable. I will say that the service was excellent and I was very impressed with the staff. The location is great as well.

Had the garden omelet and fresh fruit. The omelet had feta, asparagus, caremelized onion, and tomatoes. Fruit was fresh cut. Pretty good breakfast.

Great to see a little breakfast nook open in our neighborhood. Staff was very friendly, service was great. Menu was very simple but everything we ordered was delicious including the coffee. I ordered the veggie omelet with goat cheese. My fiance ordered the "everything" and we were both impressed. Most of the breakfast menu items run $6-8 with the Favorites section running around $10. We ate outside at a table and were continually checked on and well attended to. Will be back.

Great addition to this neighborhood. Put your name in and then grab coffee and shop around next door while you wait. Atmosphere is nice and the staff is friendly. Reasonable prices too, under 30$ for 3 people! Get the Country Benedict or Breakfast Burrito, you won't be disappointed. Add cheese grits to complete the southern twist on your dish.

I was excited to try this local breakfast place. It was a total disappointment. My omelet was rubbery. It was supposed to have bacon, and I didn't find a piece until I had eaten half of it. My daughter ordered an egg over medium, and the yolk was hard. My husband and I ordered a pancake and it was rubbery and tasted like pure flour. The coffee tasted like Folgers, nothing special. The only good thing about it was the home made strawberry jam my husband got for his toast. Bottom line there are better choices in town, and with First Watch coming in town I don't see them having a long future. How do you mess an egg in a breakfast place!?!

Meh. Much better places around town for brunch. Standard breakfast food IMHO.

  • Melanie L.

Great food. Well done menu. Kitchen is sloooooow. Why have more tables than you can turn food out for? Once seated and having ordered on a Saturday 11 am, took 30 min to get food? Try harder. Will go when open ended day.

Didn't meet my expectations! I had high hopes for this cute little breakfast place. I got an omelet and it had way too much goat cheese and I love goat cheese! My boyfriend got the classic and his eggs weren't cook to his liking. Although, the cheese grits were very good! On top of that I think it was over priced for what you get.

The breakfast was awesome. Everything we chose (French toast, breakfast potatoes, bacon, eggs, fruit, coffee and chocolate milk) tasted great without being too greasy. We were served in a timely, yet welcoming fashion, and we were in and out despite the fact that this spot was packed on this specific morning. I would definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a delicious and substantial breakfast. It's also great if you want to support your local businesses!

After waiting a really long time to get our food, we were really disappointed when it finally arrived. I ordered the Everything breakfast and the eggs were over cooked and the biscuit was over baked. It was really hard and crunchy on the outside and dry in the middle. The French toast was the worst I ever had. Very small piece of thin bread and very dry. Since it was just placed on top of everything on my plate, I thought it was toast. The server brought me another plate to put it on. Had to ask for butter, syrup and jam. It wasn't automatically brought to the table. Oh, and everything was cold like it had been sitting for awhile. My daughter had an omelet. The eggs were over cooked and brown and crunchy. I think the cook needs some cooking lessons. Won't be going back. There are so many good breakfast restaurants in Louisville. This is not one of them.

  • Natacha D.

Nice, clean, friendly breakfast spot!! They make their own delicious jam, and I had the best veggie omelet I've ever had in a restaurant- chock full of asparagus, tomatoes, and avocado. Good coffee. Friends had the cinnamon roll which was very very sweet, the egg sandwich with potatoes and Everything. Skip the potatoes- they were unseasoned, cold, and generally not good. The grits are ok but a little too chunky.

Went on a Sunday around 12:30 had to wait about 20 minutes. Place has a very rustic feel to it which I liked, however the service was not so great. We were constantly trying to flag down our waitress for everything---a spoon, cream, ketchup. Got tiring. I had the house special that day which was chocolate chip peanut butter pancakes portions were big not really that impressed with the taste though definitely could have slapped the same thing together in my kitchen. Also had a side of bacon which was a good portion and crispy. Others in my party did the build-your-own-omelette and the grits which they enjoyed. This place is over hyped.

I don't recommend this place if you're a pancake person. I was very disappointed--the pancakes were flavorless and like rubber.

    (1)
  • Chris B.

The pancakes were tough and had burnt flakes left from griddle embedded in them, they were buttermilk but had no favor. I've eaten pancakes from all over and these were by far the worst. The eggs were very average.

Great atmosphere - not a ton of seating, so I'd expect a wait if went at prime breakfast time. food was worth it though - delicious!! and the staff is friendly! excited to have a great breakfast place nearby.

I didn't want to write this the same day as I ate there, as to try and be a bit more fair. Arrived and was told 20 - 30 minute wait for a table. Was closer to an hour in reality. Was so hungry by the time I was seated I asked if the cinnamon rolls were fast to come to the table and was told yes. The server took our order and said it would be just a couple minutes for the rolls. About 10 minutes later, a different server told us that the last batch had been burned and they were making fresh ones. About another 15 minutes or so I watched food come out to a table that had seated about 10 minutes after us. Then another 5 minutes or so, I watched food go to another table seated after us. I flagged down my server and explained fairly nicely that we had an hour and a half invested into the meal and watching other folks who arrived after us eat. Our food finally arrived after another 10 minutes. And the rolls finally followed by another minute or two. The food; it definitely isn't worth the wait. Nothing special about the food whatsoever. When my daughter says my Krusteaz pancakes are better, there's a problem. I left more upset that they didn't care about us enoigh by having a manager come smooth things over and make us happy in some way, than by the wait or the food. Bottom line; if there isn't a wait, give it a shot. Waiting longer than 10 minutes, go somewhere else. We won't return.

Amazing breakfast! We ate here on our way out of town and really wished we had found it sooner. Very friendly people and very delicious food. Homemade jams were awesome!

After looking over the menu, I couldn't help myself. Ordered a full breakfast for lunch. The eggs were cooked to over-medium perfection with potatoes and bacon. I also had one piece of french toast and then a cinnamon roll...omg I ate it all, completely stuffed. It was the greatest 'lunch' I've had in a long time!

I have been trying to make it over to this breakfast spot since their opening and unfortunately am just now making it there. I had a week day off and a friend of mine and I decided to grab some brunch instead of the normal lunch grub. So glad we chose this place to spend our time and calories. I can only imagine the wait time on the weekends...but during the week days you can walk right on in and get your grub on. I ordered a spinach, mushroom and cheese omelet with potatoes and a biscuit. I also had to try a side of their gravy. The omelet was delicious! Full of the veggies and white cheddar cheese. Yum! And their roasted potatoes are perfect! Seasoned well and cooked just right. I found myself eating more of them that I normally would. That is a good thing though! The biscuit was a bit dry but I was fortunate to have the gravy to drench it with and the homemade jam (jelly) was fantastic! I asked for blueberry and I was not disappointed. Next time I will ask for a bunch of toast to smother in this stuff! They have other fruit flavors as well. The décor is so cute at this breakfast nook and our server, who was also a co-owner, was lovely to us. I enjoyed talking with her a bit. They also have pancakes of the day which I love the idea of! I was tempted to just order that...chocolate chip and peanut butter pancakes cannot be a bad thing! Next up for me...the breakfast burrito (sans the meat) and then the eggs Florentine. I should schedule some more week days off ASAP!

Maybe I am too picky when it comes to brunch, but I was underwhelmed with EOF. Everything was just mediocre that I can't even remember what I had and this was just 2 days ago. I know I had the coffee, which was just "meh." Nothing exciting about the coffee. I ordered some main meal. Clearly it was so "meh" I don't even remember what it was. And I had the cheese grits b/c I was told they were good. They were not good. They were also "meh." So the long and the short of it is: I have had better coffee. I have had better grits. And I must have had better "whatever my main dish was". This place could step up its game and really give other brunch places a run for their money OR they could go for the mom and pop style, greasy-spoon if they lowered the prices.

After finding that the brunch place we planned on going to was closed on Sundays, my friend and I decided to give Eggs Over Frankfort a shot. We were a bit indimitated by all of the people queuing up outside waiting for a table but quickly found two seats at the bar. I've been hesitant to try Eggs over Frankfort because of the not-so-sparkling reviews it has accumulated but I definitely stand corrected. The prices were very reasonable and the menu selection was familiar without being boring! We got our food fairly quickly considering how busy they were. I ordered the Eggs Benedict with a side of cheesy grits. The eggs were cooked perfectly and well seasoned but the grits stole the show for me! They were cheesy and salty and creamy all mixed into a perfect yumminess. All in all, Eggs Over Frankfort had a very homey and comfortable feel about it. The food was the familiar brunch selection with a twist!

Hate to do this to a local establishment, but Eggs sucks eggs. * The food is average. Very average breakfast type food. I honestly prefer Cracker Barrel or Waffle House. * The service is *PAINFULLY* slow. You wait forever to sit, then wait forever for someone to take your order, and then wait forever for your food to come. If your order isn't right, don't bother asking for it to be corrected. It will take 600 years. As someone else mentioned, they looked around and only one table had food. I did the same and noticed the same. * The price wasn't bad, I guess. I'd honestly pay more for better food and quicker service. The one thing Eggs has going for it - it is nice in there. That's it. That's the list. Go anywhere else for your breakfast. Unless you like bland food and unusually long waits.

I have no idea about the reviews on here about this being average food. To me average is Denny's or other chain like store. We brought all the kids here so we had nearly everything on the breakfast menu. The pancakes are perfectly fluffy with a crisp side and melt in your mouth. The steel cut oats are perfect, not soggy mush like I have had at other "trendy" places, so good. We split a vegetarian sausage, mushroom, pepper jack cheese, one of the best omelette so have had anywhere. You get giant portions, the breakfast burger is huge and my son could barely finish, even with his never ending appetite. I would recommend this excellent breakfast to anyone, and we didn't have to wait in line for an hour like the places over on Bardstown road. See you here next week :)

Omelet was ok but not excited to return. It was warm when delivered to our table and got cold before finished and that took something away from the experience. Also, coffee was slow coming and not memorable, maybe because we ate at an outside table on the street. All in all, other breakfast places do as well if not better. Traffic made conversation hard and inside it was no better. WiFi is available from next door, that is a disappointment: I thought when that was said, i should just go next door. Truth is, EOF had a strong wifi signal but were unwilling to share the super secret password. Wonder who else could support their router or what they think they are protecting? Sorry EOF, there is room for improvement.

Woke up around noon on sunday morning craving a good brunch and finally gave this place a try. Got to sit outside, which is always a plus, and ordered myself the Country Benedict. 2 sunnyside eggs covered in bacon on a split homemade bisquit covered in gravy with hashbrown casserole on the side. OMG! Everything my mouth and stomach were looking for! Service and food were great!

This is the best breakfast I've had, from a restaurant, in a long time! It's not a large place and there was a bit of a wait, but it ended up being well worth it! I got the biscuits and gravy and, let me tell you, the gravy was better than my Momma's! (Don't tell her, though!) It was thick and flavorful and they didn't skimp on it, either! The biscuits were fluffy and filling and delicious, as well! I also ordered a cinnamon roll... Holy cow. Let me pull a Kanye here and say that Eggs Over Frankfort have the best cinnamon roll, of all time... OF ALL TIME! It was gooey and cinnamon-y and amaaaazing! The cream cheese frosting was just another reason why I will be going back here! Don't waste any more time reading this review, just go down there and see for yourself!!!

My husband and I went here on an overnight trip to Louisville. The interior is cute. Each table had different vintage salt & pepper shakers and there were antiques displayed on the walls. I ordered 2 eggs over medium, the breakfast potatoes (don't remember the actual menu name as it has been a hot minute), a biscuit, and the vegetarian sausage. The one thing that sticks out in my mind the most is how HARD the biscuit was. I actually tapped it with the knife to let my husband hear how hard it was. I didn't finish it. The veggie sausage was Morningstar brand, which I do like so that's fine that they don't make their own in house. The eggs were cooked as I asked. The potatoes were really bland. Our server was friendly and our check was under $20 for us both. I was so excited to eat here because I wanted to eat somewhere cute and local, but was sadly underwhelmed and probably wouldn't stop by the next time we're in town.

Had my first experience today. I was under the impression that I'd be able to come in for a quick breakfast before a meeting--I was mistaken. There were two seats at the bar and that was it; not a problem for them, just for me. This is a breakfast joint that you come to when you have time to relax. I was rushing myself and the gentleman that took my order could tell I was and I believe that he helped push my order through so I could get out on time. In regards to my order, I was served the Eggs Benedict with the Cheese Grits. It was great! I think they had a bit more vinegar in the water they used to poach the eggs than I'd used but it was very tasty nonetheless. When I was leaving, the pretty blonde lady that was working offered me a cup of water to go when I was leaving, which I think is great because I love waters to go--as well as pretty women. Here's my only suggestion: get more robust knives! Trying to cut through the wonderful country ham and toasted English Muffin of the Eggs Benedict with the non-serrated butter knife I was given was a challenge. A better knife would have created an experience that wasn't quite so labor intensive. I'm glad they are here, it is a great addition to the avenue.

Many GF options with their delicious GF bread!! All three of us enjoyed our breakfasts. I had eggs florentine on GF bread. My son had their eggs Benedict and my husband had a large eggs breakfast. Relaxed neighborhood atmosphere and very friendly

This was my 2nd visit to Eggs over Frankfort, and it was decent, but not my first choice for brunch in the area. I enjoyed my meal (country Benedict) didnt much care for the grits that came on the side. I had to add Chalula for flavor. My mother didn't care for her meal. She mentioned that the potatoes seemed to have been cooked hours earlier, and might have been good if they were fresh. She also thought it was a bit pricey. I thought the prices were reasonable. Difference in generations maybe? It is very cute there, and staff is friendly. I'm glad to see more brunch options popping up around town.

This is a nice place to get breakfast if you're in this part of town. The place is really cute, the staff is friendly, and the menu isn't anything crazy. I ate a vegetable omelet that had goat cheese inside. It was different, but I really enjoyed it. I feel like most of the breakfast places are pretty similar, and I haven't found anything that really makes this establishment stand out over the rest aside from its newness. But I suppose it's a still fairly young company, so we shall see...

I have read several reviews about food quality and service being poor. I will agree that they started off a little rough, but they gave worked out the kinks. Food is good and consistent. They offer a vegetarian gravy occasionally that is delicious. Service is very good. Owners are usually present. The only thing I don't like are the potatoes. Give it another try.

Wonderful breakfast! An old fashioned one the way grandmother used to make them. Fresh baked biscuits with homemade blackberry jam finished a meal of eggs, bacon and cheese grits.

My friend and I arrived at 0800 sharp. I liked the environment and the very nice sound system (with a suitable mix of bluegrass, country, folk rock, et al). When our coffee arrived I immediately tasted the pre-ground-bitterness of coffee that came out of a Sysco bag. Not my thing and I believe the standard for a cup of Joe is far higher in our town at this late date. When our orders arrived everything looked real nice. Then I took a bite of my eggs. So much salt I believed the cap must've been off the shaker. When I inquired with our server, she informed me that salt is never used on eggs at E.O.F. My breakfast mate and I traded bites...there was a LOT of salt on these eggs. I have no idea what that was about and I think it's too bad a real answer wasn't offered. It wasn't too long after I overheard a customer at a nearby table tell the same server that his pancakes (a real nice tall stack) were "overdone." Her answer was as graceless as the one she'd offered me, and no attempt was made to replace the man's order. I'm not sure how long this place can last with bad coffee out of a bag, salted eggs to which no salt has been added, and customer observations that are politely noted but not taken seriously. The expression on the man's face told the story; he and his wife will not be dining here again I imagine. Too bad, 'cause I like the looks of this place and they're friendly enough. It's only for this reason that a third star is offered here. Hope they figure it out, if not, don't expect E.O.F. to be more than a stop gap if you happen to be on this block of Frankfort.

I had breakfast here on 11/5/14. I'd been wanting to try it out, but I knew I'd have a long wait on a weekend morning, so I went during the week. The decor is minimal, but very cute. They have old window panes hung on the walls and various cute salt and pepper shakers on all the tables. The menu had a lot of options that sounded great. I was having a hard time deciding whether to get a waffle or an omelet when the server approached. He told me the waffle iron was broken, so that narrowed down my decision. I was a little disappointed. When I go for breakfast I don't expect a new restaurant to have faulty equipment. I heard the table behind me complain about it also. The server was great though! We got our omelets and side items quickly and they were delicious. I had the potatoes and my mom had the fresh fruit. We really enjoyed the taste of the food and the prices were very reasonable. I hope to get a waffle the next time!

This place is decent. If you're in a pinch and are looking for a brunch spot, this is a viable option. You'll get lots of food, and nice service. However, there's just something about the food that was off to me. The cheese grits tasted like Cheetos/cheese balls. Take from that what you will... It makes me wonder what kind of 'cheese' they are using. I finished all mine. So, the grits aren't bad, they're just not something I'll order again. The biscuits and gravy are good, but there is something off. They are rich in a salty way. I'm not talking brine-y, but after a few bites it's overwhelming. (The biscuits are good!) The service exceeded my expectations considering the size and the number of people seated and waiting to get in. This is basically diner food with less grease, more salt, and better service. Not bad, not great.

So disappointing! We ordered the classic and country Benedict. The eggs for both dishes were cooked incorrectly with the classic having the whites come out brown and crispy on the edges. The country Benedict had one egg over easy and one well done even though the eggs we ordered over medium. It wasn't "smothered" in gravy as stated which resulted in dry biscuit throughout. The Classic came with half a slice of toast that was over cooked and the bland potatoes on both dishes were cold when they were brought to the table. We asked the owner for a napkin so we could pick up dog feces by our table. She dropped off the napkin with no apology or help to clean it up. A v-8 that was ordered never came. But most upsetting was the attitude when the owner asked how everything was while removing our partially eaten plates. We showed her the eggs and voiced our concern and she said they were training a new line cook they really liked because she showed up on time. And then she said she wished we had said something because it only takes three minutes to cook eggs- which makes me wonder why we waited almost an hour for our meal. We really wanted to like a neighborhood eatery- but the poor service and awful food won't bring us back.

I really wanted this to be better. This is a really great spot and a great idea. It took a little longer than we would have hoped to get waters for a not very busy Wednesday. The server was very nice, but I asked for no pork whatsoever on my plate (religious reasons, I didn't tell her why, I just said please don't being me any pork). My dad was with me and said he would eat the ham that came with my meal, so I said if that was ok they could just give it to him. When it came out it was still on my plate, which I know sounds like just being picky, but I can't eat what that has touched, how do I know I'm not eating juice off of it or small pieces of it? The food was bland, salt and pepper wasn't enough to doctor it up. I got the eggs Benedict. After eating mine, I asked my dad for some of his waffles because mine left a little something to be desired. They were better, but not worth going out for. He ended up stopping at a gas station on the way home for chips to "get some flavor." It seems like a nice idea, but could use some development and they really need to pay attention to special requests, especially in this area with so many different food preferences and dietary restrictions, there is a lot of competition in the area that makes it very easy to make substitutions/changes to accommodate.

Now that is the way country gravy should taste! Delicious all the way around. This was my first time here and I will be be back for sure. I love the cozy atmosphere and the wait staff was super helpful and polite! Outdoor seating is hard to find on Frankfort and the shady tables provide the perfect atmosphere for a mid day breakfast. I can't get over the gravy...sorry grandma, I got a new fav.

There was much anticipation about this place opening but I must say I have been disappointed with my few visits; the fact that it is packed in the morning probably speaks more to the overall demand for some kind of local breakfast spot in Crescent Hill rather than the specific qualities of this one. The menu is standard, the service friendly and welcoming, the coffee better than expected and the feel of the place as it spills out onto the sidewalk is relaxing. My big gripe is that the food is so dull; not bad but just unadventurous and like 20 other options around town. I had high hopes as an example of the Breakfast Burrito but it lacked any unique flavour or even a hint of its Tex/Mex origins being just eggs, potato and sausage. Chorizo, cilantro, chili or a even a hint of chipotle sauce would have brought it to life and rescued the day - and this is the most adventurous option! Crescent Hill is a pretty eclectic area so the menu plays it way too safe. Oh and please get new coffee cups; I think the current ones were rescued from a church hall 25 years ago and have more cracks and chips than I could count. I doubt I will go back but would love to if it raised its sights a bit.

A friend and I visited this delightfully rustic filled location for the first time last Friday. When we arrived there weren't many folks there, as it was around noon on a weekday. We chose a seat and were greeted rather quickly. Of course with it being our first time there, we took our time browsing the menu. I am not fond of breakfast food that often, however on the occasion I don't mind a bit of french toast, eggs, bacon and sausage (turkey bacon and sausage preferred, although hard to find in such establishments). After a bit of deliberation, we decided to share some things. We chose the special pancake (only one) which was a vanilla bean along with the classic plate with eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes and french toast. The coffee was on point, with many refills, which was nice not having to wait or constantly ask for it. A few more patrons started to arrive, prior to that the service was pretty decent, although we did notice it start to lag a bit once other's had came in. It seemed that there was only one actual waitress at that point, so understandably slower than if there were multiple. The food arrived within a reasonable amount of time, aside from the one special pancake. Apparently they ran out of it and had to make a fresh batch. At first we thought it was a nice gesture that they were making a new batch, but after nearly finishing the classic plate and still not receiving the one single pancake, we began to think they had forgotten about it. At this point we were in a bit of a hurry as I had a meeting to attend downtown. The waitress did inform us finally that the pancake should be on it's way fairly soon. After another five or so minutes the infamous pancake arrived. At this point we had to ask for the check and a to-go box due to the rush. The waitress was obviously very hard working and much on her own, although there were two other ladies behind the counter, not sure what their titles were, but I do feel they could have helped her out especially when the traffic started to pick up. The main suggestion I would make to them is to maybe be a bit more prompt with delivery and better communication. The quirkiness of the random coffee mugs brought a smile to the face and an addition to the conversation topic to the table. Any food criticisms I might add would be offering turkey sausage and bacon, along with better options for the toast pairing, the apple butter was very bitter and the mixed berry jam was not enjoyable. Unfortunately those were the only two options, neither impressive. Regardless, happy to have this place in the neighborhood! Growing tired of the blandness of NorthEnd Cafe and otherwise having to commute to NULU or the Highlands to enjoy a bite.
