The service was actually pretty good and the servers spoke English. I just really didn't like the mediocre food and I'm not picky when it comes to food at all. The crab ragoon and lo mein was actually ok, but the chicken was soggy and not crispy at all and it wasn't mixed correctly with the accompanying sauces. They only had one type of sushi and it was vegetarian. I won't go back again just because the food really isn't good. The service is pretty ok though and it's pretty clean.

I have to say the lo mein saved them, the biscuits were hard as rocks, the egg rolls were awful, the rice was okay and general tso chicken was decent. The other chickens had a very strange aftertaste. Not very many chinese options as the previous reviewer said. My boyfriend says 1.5 stars because their soft serve ice cream was good. The entire time we were there someone was screaming and sqealing in the kitchen. None of the staff seemed to care. Ridiculous price for what they have offered. Our favorite chinese buffet charges 8.99 they have triple the choices that Eastern House has, and superior quality. We plan on coming back to louisville, but certainly not Eastern House.

While shopping with the family we stumbled upon Eastern House. Having eating Chinese food already one time today...I said, what the hell. Decent comes to mind. Fried Low Mien Noodles. Egg Rolls where ok and will everything was pretty good. Not to say, they only had a minimum selection of Chinese. I would come here again, if I was in this part of town. Owners where super friendly and it wasn't to pricey...win, win I'd say.

I have not had a good food day. It seems I am having a karmic meltdown in restaurant choices. My lunch at a Taco Bell ended with an apologetic management giving me my money back and free Meximelts to make due for a Cantina Bowl that had a rather sizeable piece of paper towel lodged among the beans and rice, and this episode at a Chinese buffet off Dixie Highway which ended in my discovery of a long hair in my pepper steak. However, what separates these two is how it was handled. I will not be offering a review of that particular Taco Bell, the young management handled the issue well, and it wouldn't be fair to judge them on the food. They succeeded on every other level. I'll leave it at that. But Eastern House, you deserve my ire. Firstly, I don't care for buffets. Not even a little bit. But with my kids in tow, a Chinese buffet is usually one of the few places I can get them to eat a few vegetables. I'd had Eastern House before, and it's been relatively serviceable as Chinese buffets go. Tonight, it was nothing of the sort. Prior to the encounter with the pepper steak follicle folly, the food I tried that evening was barely passable, with Chinese spare ribs more akin in texture to spare tires dipped in a syrupy, sickeningly sweet sauce. The rest of it ranked as edible. But as soon as I discovered the hair which seemed cooked into a chunk of thinly sliced flank steak, dinner was over. I quietly showed the waitress,so as not to make a scene, who immediately took the plate to show the manager. He came by the table, apologized, and then made the excuse that because it was a buffet, he was not really responsible for my rather distasteful find. He said he'd give me a 10% discount on my dinner. Really?? A mere 10% on this over-priced-for-the-weekend plate of gravy-laden dog food? Thank you so much for your not-so-gracious offer, Mr. Manager, sir. You have successfully narrowed my choices along this highway of many uninspired food venues by one, possibly more, as I am likely cutting out every buffet along the way as well. - 30 - An addendum to the review above, my youngest son lost most of what he ate around 11pm that night. I'm positive the manager won't offer to pay for the clean up of that either.
