Overall the prices are right at Dundee Tavern, and I think it accomplishes the mission of being a solid neighborhood restaurant/bar with a decent tap beer selection (and one Cider). Personally, I think there's too much real estate inside that they could convert to patio seating. We sat outside late afternoon and the sun comes around just right onto the patio. My wife got the (slightly) deep-fried bratwurst, reminded her of how they serve them at the farmers market food stall growing up in Germany (not the deep fried part - but the perfectly crisp and browned skin part). It comes with sauerkraut, and she choose spicy fries as her side. They were absolutely delicious and we felt ketchup detracted from the taste. I ordered the lemon pepper, pan-seared Catfish Sandwich on rye with a side of Caesar salad. The catfish was served as a tender, thin fillet cooked just right. I liked it fine the way it was, but when I added some sauerkraut from the bratwurst plate, it really kicked it up a notch. The caesar dressing was delicious. But like many side salads it was very simple, just the lettuce and croutons. TIP: have the rye bread toasted for the fish sandwich, add sauerkraut and you're golden. It's times like these I wish there was a 1/2 star review option, because this was probably more like a 3 1/2 star experience.

Under new ownership... Food marginally better, service much worse. Best part of previous staff was the service. New staff doesn't seem to want to be there, hardly responsive, slow, unfriendly, etc. I could go on. I've been 4 time since new ownership hoping each time the previous experience was a fluke. I've heard similar sentiment from friends and neighbors. I won't be going back. Sad.

Food is pretty standard bar food and service is top notch. Definitely a local spot with a chill vibe. They have a good draft selection and prices are pretty reasonable. If your looking for something casual, relaxed, and some average bar food this is your place.

How can you not like the Dundee Tavern? It's a great place to see friends and eat A-OK bar food. Blue cheese kettle chips, pulled pork sandwich, bratwurst (deep fried), BLT, fish sandwich, white bean chili...I could go on but everything I have eaten here is A-OK and with a cold draft beer food is elevated to the next level. Come here because you want to see what a neighborhood bar looks and feels like. Enjoy cold beer and good bar food and maybe they will let you become part of their neighborhood family?

This is where my co-workers come each year to celebrate Christmas. The staff has always been very accomodating. The cheese dip is phenominal.

Dundee is alright; nothing special. I took the picture because I was there and to tell the truth I expected more.

Great place to watch games. Above average bar food and drink selection. Can get crowded when local teams are on the telly.

My family and I come here to watch the UofL games, and we've always had a great time. Pretty good service and tasty food. Last time I had the chili which was the perfect amount of flavor. I like that they have the option to not have spaghetti if you don't want it. I also remember their banana pudding! SO yummy :D We've always been able to pull a few tables together (or just take over a few) if we needed to, and the waitresses we've had bring out food and drinks in a pretty timely manner. For sure would come here again!

Dundee is one of our favorite easy places for dinner. The food is good and inexpensive and service is good. It is very wallet and family friendly. One of our favorite go-to restaurants.

Well above average beer selection, I chose Newcastle. While there we tried the Nachos (which were made veggie by special request) & Sampler platter (fried: mushrooms, jack cheese, chicken fingers, bean quesadillas. And chicken wings & potato skins). Nice little local hangout.

Dundee Tavern is definitely a locals place. Located just off of Bardstown Road in the Highlands, Dundee's is a great local family restaurant where everyone regardless of age and food preference can find something they enjoy for a more than reasonable cost. On my most recent visit I had the blackened chicken pasta, which I found to be delicious and piping hot. The drawback to Dundee's is the atmosphere and service. Being a small mom & pop business the environment is extremely laid back and unfortunately is shown in the service. While waiting waitresses and waiters chatted with one and failed to attend to the customers. Overall, great food and location borderline service and environment.

Love the Burgers & fries here. Tuna Filet sandwich is a healthy option. Dundee dip sinfully delicious. Wonderful beer choices & stiff pours.

Fun atmosphere, great spot for watching sports as there are flat screens all over the restaurant for easy viewing. The food is delicious from the appetizers such as the Dundee Dip with an amazing tasting queso type of dip or Supreme Nachos or Fried Pickles you can't go wrong with any of them. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. They have an excellent Cod Fish sandwich or a Catfish sandwich with your choice of a side such as their spicy French fries or Onion Rings or Baked Beans and many others. They have a nice selection of big salads to choose from such as the Tavern Salad or the Vicks Chicken salad which are both big hits. They make an amazing club sandwich as well as a Turkey Reubon sandwich. You really cannot go wrong ordering at Dundee as I have yet to eat something that I didn't love! And customers literally lick their plates clean here and it has many regulars who discovered it's laid back atmosphere and quality food and friendly staff. They have a fully stocked bar and a host a special local and regional beers on tap that are a hit for customers as well. It's a great little spot to go and relax and have some delicious food and drink some unique beers on tap and be with some friends or family and watch a game or just enjoy the atmosphere! Highly recommended !!!

Dundee Tavern is the epitome of A-OK. Decent crinkle fries, pretty good and reasonably priced drinks (cheap wine), and pretty nice folks. It is very homey and laid back, and you are perfectly fine in shorts and a t-shirt. They seem to have a decent happy hour towards the end of the week which isn't as common (none on Mon/Tues), but that might just make this a solid Thurs/Fri pre-game place. Though I feel certain I would feel a bit out of place in a dress. Can't wait to check out 3.50 Bloody Mary Sunday. Sounds like theirs has a kick!

I used to go in this place when it was across from where it is now. Excellent pub grub just as advertised! The owner Terri and Nick the bartender are the best...the staff is great. Try one of my fav's, The Tavern Burger. The blackened fish is awesome too...yum!

I stopped in with friends for a bite to eat. This was my first visit. The menu was small, yet surprisingly had a good variety... plenty of soups, salds, appetizers, and sandwiches to choose from. There was even about four pasta dishes to choose from as well. I had a turkey reuben and a cup of white chili. Both were very good. The service was good... not lacking... not over the top... just right. This was a nice tavern. The atmostphere was that of an Applebees, but with more of a local feel, of course. I would say anyone of any age would feel comfortable here. This is not a place I would go out of my way for, but if you are in the neighborhood, by all means... stop by. If it were in my neighborhood, I'd probably swing by often.

I just wanted to post and comment on the review from Casil P. on 1/3/14.... anytime you use your debit card at a restaurant when they first run the card it is preauthorized for the bill amount plus a potential tip. When you check your statement the very next morning and see PENDING transactions that does not mean the server charged additional money. when the final transaction balances you will see that it is the correct amount I'm certain. i have nothing to do with this restaurant i just hate seeing a bad review over it since i was in the restaurant business myself before. When they swipe your card it's like a pre-approval and holds an amount. when you put the tip in the server adds it at the end of the night. once it reconciles (usually a day or two later) when the charge is final it will NOT be for the pending amount!!! This is very very common and why you should NOT check your bank statement the very next day!!! i wish you'd reconsider your review after i'm sure you learned you were mistaken! As to this restaurant I have no clue but i was reading the reviews and considering going. I definitely will make in in there now!

Good neighborhood pub with decent burgers/sandwiches. The beer list is very good with many options on draft. The servers are always friendly and attentive.

Like a lot of sports bars this one has a problem with sight lines. I'm not sure I have a solution for them looking around, but you're as likely to leave Dundee Tavern with a neck ache as a feelling of satisfaction in your team's victory. Try the bar area as this isn't as big a problem on that side of the establishment. The food is passable. The overhead lighting is a problem in some areas and they're often playing music instead of the audio from the top game, which are knocks against a sports bar in my opinion.
