Falafel appetizer dish is well portioned packed with flavor. The gyro was good. The owner is a very friendly Persian man.

Really good find! Doesn't look awesome from the front but the food is killer! I will be back! Me and a friend both got the gyro and it was so good. You can tell everything was homemade in it. I'm not one asking for Greek usually but the cucumber sauce they made was amazing, cool and fresh. They also have gelato for the end! Decently priced too. The woman who runs out delivers all the food and she was very nice and helpful.

This local gem is a Great Mediterranean restaurant and ice cream parlor! Not only are the prices perfect for poor grad students, but there are several seating options! We enjoy sitting outside (people watching) or in the new addition (room on the left). The owner runs everything from cashiering to bussing tables; sometimes his younger son comes in to help in the kitchen. Cute! Also, just recently he hired a waitress to come and take orders at the table. Nice! So, you know your money is going into the community! Right on! Way to go, local business! Our Favorites Dishes: - The pomegranate chicken stew over jasmine rice - falafel in pita with tzatziki sauce!!! - eggplant appetizer - hummus appetizer - tzatziki sauce!!! My partner and I enjoy coming here when we don't want to cook after a long day at work and we don't want to break the bank. So, we come here often! Moral of The Story: Try the falafel!

We visited this restaurant for the first time tonight. I don't usually write reviews, but I had to say something about this place. We had the beef and herb strew and the pomegranate chicken stew. Both were wonderful, but the pomegranate chicken stew was amazing! The children's menu consists of a hamburger and fries with a juice, and this was plenty to satisfy our kids. The homemade gelato for dessert was fantastic. My only regret is not finding this place earlier!

One of my Frankfort Ave favorites! GREAT burger, but everything is GOOD! Perfect for those times when you want simple good food that's always fresh, delicious and healthy (at a reasonable price). The owner is super friendly; you can tell it's just a good family/local business. Recommend the gyros, kabobs, stew and burger. The hot crinkle cut fries are always a good add-on! The hummus is standard, and the paired pita bread may be served warm or cold depending on the style delivered by the food vendor that week (asked once when served the cold pita after previously getting the preferred warm style). They serve soft drinks and beer/wine as well as (possibly) house-made gelato.

My moderate expectations for Caspian Grill were met and slightly exceeded on my recent visit. It is my first visit to the restaurant since it relocated several years back from my immediate neighborhood in the Highlands. I can recommend the falafel here as one of the better ones in a town that is not exactly rich in falafel offerings. Caspian is a simple, family-run restaurant suitable for luncheons and small groups.

Nice space, but not crowded at lunch. Falafel was excellent, but skip the bland hummus. Reasonable pricing.

The people were really nice, but I don't think I'll be coming back here. The coke was really flat and the food was kinda burnt. That and they can be a little pricy. It's in between Heine Brothers and Carmichael's in a small little building on Frankfort Avenue. It's easy to miss if you're not paying close attention.

Went to lunch today here with a buddy of mine. We both had the gyro and I added a side tomato basil soup. The gyros were pretty standard and the soup was definitely on point for a slightly chilly day like today.

Repeat customers - great spot to stop, eat, and people watch. Falafel is much better than most, along with kabobs and gyros. Def recommend trying, and good for to-go

Small quaint place on Frankfort. I've only been once. I for the falafel. It looked real pretty when I got it. All decorated up. But lesson learned, looks don't matter. They were undercooked making them a little too slimy for my taste. But they do give a good portion for the price. Maybe it was just an off day.

While the atmosphere may not be that of a higher-end restaurant, and the air conditioning a hit or miss, the food is delicious. I've been here a couple times and each time find myself craving the chicken kabobs with cucumber sauce months later. In short, if you're looking to feel like royalty, I wouldn't suggest it. But if you just want some good grub, have a go. Their homemade gelato is scrumptious as well.

Despite the 2 stars I'd be inclined to try this place again and update the review accordingly. With primo real estate on Frankfort Avenue near Heine Brothers' and Carmichael's, Caspian had been catching my eye for a while. During my lunch break one day, I decided to take a break to give this place a try. The ambience reminded me of a Greek diner, and not in a bad way. I liked how you order at a register, behind which you can see into part of the kitchen, with jars of olives and other condiments winking back at you. There was one person manning the joint on the day that I went, and he promptly greeted me and took my order. While I waited I checked out what the other diners ate, which was nestled in little plastic baskets (you know, the kind that you get chicken fingers in when you go to a diner -- I happen to think they're kind of fun) and also sneaked a peek at the gelato. I decided I'd steer clear of the gelato, it looked like it had been out for a while and was a little pricey at $3.25 for a small serving. I also thought I heard the sound of a microwave beeping in the back while the person was getting my food. Not significant at that time but I remembered it later . . . I got my food to go and had sat down at a picnic table down the street when I realized that I didn't have a spoon. The person waiting on me that day was accommodating and got me one quickly, and I returned to the picnic spot to enjoy my lunch. Except that I couldn't enjoy it. I had gotten the lentil soup and it was full of cold spots in a plethora of lukewarm. I tried stirring it, sampled again (still cold) and stirred some more. I was in a hurry and had to settle for lukewarm soup on that particular day. It had great flavor, but I couldn't get past the idea that I like my soup piping hot. So, I may give it a few months, but I'd be willing to order something else and eat in the restaurant, just in case I need to ask for something to be nuked.

The food was very good especially for the price. Service was great! I like little mom and pop places. I really liked the hummus :) Next time I'll try the tirimisu or baklava!

While it's a simple menu, it is absolutely delicious. We have had several items off the menu and none disappoint. I judge a Persian restaurant on their hummus and theirs is delish! Not too many people were here any time I have been here so get in there and support the family owned company!

I had the chicken kabob with rice and a plate of hummus. I thought the food was great. The atmosphere was boring, but it was a Sunday night.

I was conflicted between giving 2 or 3 stars on this review. The lighting in the restaurant is very dim, and not in a way that gives it a nice ambience. It felt unintentionally messy and cluttered, and had too many tables for the size of the space. I had been inclined to give a 2 until I received my dish, which was very good. I got a chicken kabob with a side of basmati rice, tatziki sauce and a small cucumber and tomato salad. The chicken was well seasoned and moist and the rice was perfectly cooked. The meal was a bit overpriced at $10.39, especially considering it was served on a paper plate and the salad was not very substantial. Cons: -Bad lighting -Cheap feeling -Overpriced Pros: -Friendly staff -Good food

I think this replaced the greek restaurant, but I may be wrong. It is definitely an improvement from the moment you walk in the door. The menu is your typical Mediterranean items but also has some things you would not expect to see, like burgers. Hummus itself was good, but pita was basically store bought and thrown in a ziploc bag....and served that way. All dishes came served in cheap red plastic baskets, cup was paper, as were the plates. Those alone took this place down a notch in my book. We had gyro and chicken kabob. The food actually had pretty good flavor, the gyro had weird slices of meat (lamb and beef it says), but it taste good. Kabob was also good. We left full but a bit disappointed. Pita needs to be either made in house or higher quality store bought. Presentation of everything needs to be taken up a notch because the product is actually pretty good.

I was on my way home from work when I decided to pop into Caspian Grill for a bite; I'd driven past it for weeks since it first opened on Frankfort Avenue and the place had caught my eye since it was a Middle Eastern/Mediterranean cafe. I was greeted by a friendly, effervescent girl who gave me excellent recommendations while not rushing me as I pored over the menu indecisively. Although a burger is the last thing I'd order at a place that specializes in Middle Eastern fare, it sounded particularly appetizing..and she steered me toward it by extolling its deliciousness. I was not disappointed - it was excellent! Hold off on handing me that to-go box to take half my burger home..in a matter of minutes, there was no trace of it. I decided to pick up some food to go. I got the chicken kabab and the ground beef kabab, both of which were great. I got falafel but i was a tad disappointed with it - it was not very crispy and was topped with a creamy yogurt sauce with diced veggies...never seen that before. The flavor was okay. They have yummy gelato that is made in-house - I tried the chocolate and the Persian flavor. Overall, I was happy with the food and service.

I agree w/ previous reviewers regarding the atmosphere and food quality. If you like a casual, diner-like ambiance, you'll be fine. If you want something more upscale, best to go elsewhere. Plastic cups, food served in plastic baskets, etc. But the food is really tasty and the service friendly and accommodating. We've eaten our way through the whole menu. I like the kabobs best, but haven't had anything I thought was not up to par. I appreciate having a burger option for my son, who doesn't go for Mediterranean fare. Unlike another reviewer, I find the prices to be quite reasonable for the most part.
