Went here on a first date with a hipster douchesack who suggested the location more than once because "it's never let [me] down." Fair enough. Not really sure what that was supposed to mean, but hey, I've always had trouble translating douchesack. The food was fine. Not great, not terrible. Good menu variety and portions were average to filling, but not absurdly large. The service was incredibly attentive (almost to the point of being annoying - water was refilled after every other sip, etc., not a lot of "space" to just enjoy a quiet meal, despite the fact that the place didn't appear to be in a rush to turn over tables). Who knows, maybe the server was one of the things about the place that never let him down. Dunno. Don't care. Quirky and cheerful interior, with a fair number of disconcertingly bad works of "art," was pleased by the variety of beers (draft & bottled) - I'd probably go back sometime, if not for the risk of running into The Prince of Ick on his BMX again. Metered parking outside seems to turn over pretty quickly - no problems finding a metered spot or wedging in to street parking nearby.

Well the site says they are open until 11. No one really greeted us, avoided eye contact. When I asked where we could sit, was informed they close at 10. Alright then. Maybe post it that way?

I went for a late lunch today with a friend. I really like this place. It is so cheery and colorful inside! Our server was very friendly and attentive. I got the Lou Lou Pizza. It's my kind of pizza. And super tasty! And enough for lunch leftovers!

Cafe Lou Lou is one of the most DELICIOUS restaurants in Louisville. The HIghlands location just RENOVATED THE BATHROOMS, so there is really NOTHING to complain about now! 1. If you have never been into either of the two locations, just walking in is different and delightful. The color scheme is bright and very playful. The art on the walls is not only unique, but it is LOCAL art. In fact, a lot of the paintings on the wall are for sale! 2. The staff is fun and lively! They are also well trained and educated on the food menu as well as the drink menu. 3. TRY THE SPECIAL! If you are ever in doubt, or you can't decide on what to order, try the special. The chefs are fantastic and very creative when it comes to creating new dishes or putting a different spin on an existing menu item. 4. THE BEER LIST IS REALLY SPECIAL. that's it... if you like beer, you will understand. 5. MLB Baseball package. I know it's not for everyone, but I love baseball so the fact that I can watch ANY GAME that I want to is a bonus. Overall, the food is consistently amazing, the service cannot be beaten, and the atmosphere will keep you coming back to try every menu item. For now, just try some of my favorites: Shrimp and Grits, Scallops and Orzo pasta (only certain days of the week), Pasta Carbonara, Pasta Jambalaya, Pork Tenderloin Sandwich, Chicken Portabello Roll, or the Lou Lou Pizza. Jam on, Lou! Jam on.

I've only been to this restaurant a handful times but after trying something different every time, I can confidently say that it's mediocre. I dont mind eating low quality food if its super cheap, however the prices here are quite inflated. A small salad priced at $6 is absolutely outrageous in my book. Add to that, the sandwiches are greasy and the pasta dishes are all under seasoned and overly cheesy. The pizza isn't terrible but It certainly is not the best in town.

Great location. Parking not so great. So for those counting carbs not such a good place however they do have salads. Menu options include pasta, sandwiches and pizza. Extensive beer list. The experience was just ok. Don't think we need to hurry back anytime soon with all the other really great local restaurants in our city. Not sure what all the hype is about. We ate dinner and walked next door for dessert and more drinks.

Although Cafe Lou Lou does not make a traditional meatball hoagie, it does offer up a tasty and trendy alternative. Enter the Cafe Lou Lou meatball sandwich (see pic). First off, this sandwich was big enough to split with a friend or save half for later. The meatballs are made fresh everyday and they were juicy & flavorful. The focaccia bread was different and worked well with the other ingredients. The garlic aioli came on the sandwich and was interesting. Overall, this meatball sandwich, although different from the traditional meatball hoagie, was very good. I still feel like Anselmo's makes the best meatball hoagie in the Louisville area. My current meatball hoagie/sandwich rankings for the Louisville area follow: #1 - Anselmo's #2 - Cafe Lou Lou #3 - Ghyslain #4 - Diorio's (not good) The search for the best meatball hoagie/sandwich in the Louisville area goes on. Send me a message if you tried one that was great.

Usually a good experience but I've noticed over the last 2 yrs the wings are have become smaller and blue cheese runnier. Bummer! Pricier beer and wine, but good selection! 3 GF cider options. Service is also good.

AWESOME! This place gets my vote for best food for the money in Louisville! Must try the chicken portabella roll, BBQ chicken pizza, Greek salad! Amazing beers on tap. Great art on the walls. Friendly, knowledgeable staff! I take all of my out of town guests here. If you want local flavor at a great value, Lou Lou is the place!

The smoked "chicken" and Marsala bowtie dish only contained 2-3 small bites of chicken. Additionally, the dish had a flavor more similar to dog food than creamy Marsala.

So glad I live walking distance from this gem. Pastas are made to order and my mom could request that a normally spicy pasta be a little less spicy! Amazing cheese calzone! Can't wait to go back!

This place is an over priced Fazoli's. The only catchy thing about it is its location, the food I got there was sub par at best, and the bread sticks were very under done. This is one of those restaurants that people think is good just because it is on Bardstown rd. So if you like Ramsi's, you will love this place.

Cafe Lou Lou's is my current favorite dining spot in the Highlands. Their pizzas are robust and full of flavor. The BBQ Chicken pizza and the RATT pizza are my current favs. The Grilled Chicken salad with their unique Sun dried Tomato Vinaigrette is a great lighter choice. The atmosphere is fun and friendly. The prices, especially for drinks, are a little on the high side, however this is a great place for a really good meal.

The vibe is fresh, the artwork is funky, and the service is friendly. I highly recommend the artichoke and spinach roll and the calzone is easily enough to feed two for lunch. All in all, it was a good place for a Saturday lunch with friends. That said, it wasn't necessarily special enough for me to seek it out again over other restaurants in the area but I'm glad I went and checked it out today.

I am so sad to only give 2 stars. Really. We have gotten A LOT of takeout and spent a lot of money, here and have always been huge fans. But, the last 6 to 8 months there has been a significant lack of consistency. Rolls that come w fries, have like 4 fries. Wedge salad is laughable how small it is. Other items are also inconsistent to size and flavor. The only saving grace is the pizza. Lou Lou's pizza is the deal, and thankfully it the only consistent thing we get. So, now when we really just want convenient take out ... We only get pizza. No more salads (the price versus product is a joke). Come on Lou Lou....get it together...you use to have solid and delicious food EVERY TIME.

Finally gave this place a try tonight. I must say, this is now my new favorite Louisville eatery. The food and service were great. We ordered the Cajun crawfish pasta and a California pizza that had olives, avocado and goat cheese. Yummy! We also split the most delicious bread pudding I think I have ever had. Also we had an app of black bean and zucchini cakes. Everything was very, very, good.

I used to really love this place--4-star territory love this place, but the last two times I've been I've been disappointed. Maybe I need to stick to the St. Matthews location because my negative experiences both occurred at The Highlands. This used to be an automatic stop for me anytime I made it to Louisville, but now I wonder what I'm missing out on. I became similarly disenchanted with Lynn's Paradise Cafe. Changing of the guard in Derby city, I guess.

The Highlands has many great casual restaurants. This is definitely one of them. Italian/Cajon/Mediterranean fusion. The Lou Lou pizza is fantastic. Great wine list and heathy menu options as well.

Their soup selection is always unique -- last visit I tried the crab bisque (or some such title) which was a creamy, nicely spiced treat. I still haven't settled on a main dish item that I love though.

I had to give this place a four. But ONLY because of the bathrooms. They are located outside of the restaurant, and for good reason. They stink, like, well, exactly how you'd expect a stinky bathroom to stink. The rest of the restaurant gets a 5 though. Actually, mostly the bread pudding gets a five. Maybe I should explain myself. See, I'm on a quest. Not for the holy grail. But for something equally as glorious. I'm on a quest for the Best Bread Pudding in Louisville. (can I use an acronym? k, thanks, BBPL) So, BBPL, where are you? Every single time I see bread pudding on a menu, I ask for it. Sometimes, even when I don't see it on the menu, I ask for it. Some places are sneaky like that (read: Hillbilly Tea). This bread pudding is in the top 3, possibly even top two, but I'm having a hard time narrowing it down. Other contenders are BBC on 4th Street (NOT on Main) and Varanese. It simply melted in your mouth. The glaze was rich but not overpowering and the texture of the bread pudding was perfect, with a very slight crispy but soaked crust to it. Oh dang, I supposed to be reviewing the whole restaurant, not the bread pudding. The DAD (down and dirty): Waiter = great, super knowledgeable, friendly, a bit over-attentive. Decor and ambiance = again, great. exactly how it sounds, a cafe. bright green colors, cool pictures on the walls, dinette chairs, etc. The Name "Cafe Lou Lou" = you know what, I'm not going to tell you what it stands for, because you should ask yourself. The answer is interesting, and not at all what I expected. So that's that, Lou it up at the Lou Lou.

Off Bardstown Road not Shelbyville. Make no mistake, the name says Highlands because there are two locations. I choose this restaurant for its convenient location, diverse menu, beer selection, and reasonable prices. Unlike other Bardstown restaurants, this one is located a little further north enough that there is typically no wait. We had a group of 10-15 with reservations, but plenty of surrounding tables were open on a Friday night. I now have a new craving dish in my rotation. I devoured the Chicken Portabella and Spinach Wrap. This healthier alternative was a delicious toasted flat bread wrap that kept me on my calories watching path while satisfying my appetite, and only costing me $8 with included side. This location also delivers to nearby Bardstown residents, which has already proved beneficial for me. It was a hop, skip, and jump to the next Bardstown stop. I'll be lou- lou-looking forward to heading back

Went here on a Saturday evening - right before going to,paint at Uptown Art (shameful plug here). First time at Highlands location. Quirky is a good description of this location. The entrance is inside an office complex hallway - kinda strange. Food was good, very large portions. Service attentive & not intrusive. Prefer the St Matthews location for parking & ambiance.

Mrs. V: AMAZING BBQ chicken pizza. Mr. V: Their BBQ pizza has been called "crack pizza". I can't tell you about anything else on the menu, as there is nothing else I would have.

HOLY!! I just bit into a "bleu cheese polenta" dish... and my tongue is thanking me. As is the babe in my belly. I've been so hungry for the past two hours, so finally having a plate of food in front of "us" is heavenly. Thought I was having a meeting at work today and I'd be ordering-in some Cafe Lou Lou's take-out, but it has been postponed and I find myself down the road from my work at the actual place... so far listening to a mixture of The Cars, Bowie, Zeppelin, The Cure, Phoenix, The Clash, The Doors and enjoying every single bite of my beautiful food. Before the plates hit my table I was thinking, "Are you kidding me?! I'd come here just to take in the freaking music selection!" ... but then I bit into the polenta dish. Awwww yeahhh. ~ twenty-five minutes later ~ ... okay, I can see I'm not going to finish the "four cheese" calzone in front of me. I've not yet finished the polenta dish (as I'm slowly savoring it), and my stomach is already quite satisfied. The calzone is HUGE. And it's awesome! This thing is definitely for two people... unless you are a 300 pound man. The cheeses are lovely: mozzarella, fontina, goat & ricotta. The marinara sauce and the "crust" are befitting a hungry pregnant lady... but, alas, Ill definitely NOT be able to finish the task of eating the behemoth. Looks like my sweet husband & I have some leftovers to enjoy tonight and tomorrow. The bartender guy says I can just pop the thing into the oven and it'll be good as new. Yum! Eat here. Don't be a big dummy. Good God... they've just played Muse, Peter Gabriel, Lou Reed and "Under Pressure" by Mercury/Bowie! This place needs it's own radio station!! The shrimp & grits appetizer is rockin', too! Definitely something to try!

I've only been into the restaurant a few times but both have been less than memorable in terms of the food. Like other reviewers have emphasized, it's a cool atmosphere and interesting local art on the walls. The real sell of this place is in the fact that they deliver and they make killer pizzas with locally sourced ingredients. Goodbye Papa Johns. Unfortunately, they're not usually very quick about it. A friend known for having people over to her house every weekend always orders a few pizzas from here for a cheap, easy and delicious dinner before any festivities. She definitely got me hooked on their pizzas. The Mediterranean is where its at--love that they add roasted eggplant to the more common ingredients always on Mediterranean pizzas. This pizza is also where I made the discovery that chunks of roasted garlic are actually pretty good. Even though my rating says 3, it's really a 3.5.

I've been to Cafe Lou Lou three times now and I'm just not impressed. My first visit they crammed five of us at a small hightop bar table, strike one. Five adults ordering meals not just drinks just do not fit comfortably at those tiny tables. I ordered some sort of pasta dish and I don't clearly remember anything about it except that I had leftovers and didn't bother to eat them later. My next visit I ordered a calzone. It was ok. Not bad but certainly not the best I've had. My last visit I ordered a buffalo chicken pizza which again was ok. Not great not terrible just not particularly memorable. On this visit our server was also somewhat rude when we weren't ready to order right away and I actually think she went on her 15 minute break while we were deciding because I never saw her once between the time she first tried to get us to order and the time we finally did order. Overall I probably won't return. Too many other good places to go!

It is a fun spot with a great vibe. I love the artwork and how it is incorporated into the menu. That being said, I've been here 3 times for dinner and always enjoyed it, but never been, oh wow, I have to bring friends here. The food is pretty good, best bet is the pizzas, and the prices are reasonable. My first experience was a 4 star (I really liked the BBQ Pizza) but the last two have been closer to 3. The service was great. Super pleasant waiter. I had the mushroom/shrimp ravioli. Half of the mushrooms were great, but the other half were too tough to cut with my butter knife. I realize they are shiitake and a bit tougher in general, but that was a bit of a turnoff. And I liked the sauce, since I looooove mushrooms. But if they aren't one of your favorite things ever I would probably avoid this dish as that is pretty much what the sauce is. I do still have to try the Potato and the Hot Brown pizzas. All in all - Worth checking out. Tip: Half price bottle of wine Wednesday! The pasta servings are big, so generally the smaller one is plenty!

We made reservations for Cafe Lou-Lou on New Years Eve. They were packed when we arrived however, they were organized and got us in right away. We ordered the Cowboy..so good. The Italian meatball calzone was excellent. The only negative I have for Cafe Lou Lou is the wine portions seemed a little on the small side. Food was great, service was great...drink before you dine.

I discovered Cafe Lou Lou shortly before I moved to Albuquerque, so every time we go back to Louisville to visit family, we hit it up. The location, decor, and atmosphere make me feel like I've walked into a secret. One of those off-the-beaten-path neighborhood bars that only the locals know about. The service has always been exceptional and the food is pretty good. Some of the dishes are average, but the meatball sandwich is pretty bomb.

Went to my first Meet-up event at Cafe Lou Lou.Dug the interior with the funky artwork. Upon entering, the hostess directed to where the group was seated,it was 6:30p on Wednesday and the place was already buzzing. It must have been the half-priced bottles of wine. That right,half-priced bottles of wine! There were about eight people there and the server took our drink orders. Wine all around!Of course, they just sold the last bottle sauvignon blanc I ordered or I had to go with a New Zealand Sav. blanc. It was okay for the price. The server was friendly, helpful, and never got flustered even as some of the group was still arriving as singles. He explained the specials and took everyone's food orders while taking the late arrival's drink orders. Food came out promptly and everyone enjoyed what they ordered.I got the pizza special of goat cheese, sundried tomatoes, garlic and basil. The dough was crunchy and chewy, very good. They are a fun group and it is a good place for a fun dinner.I think I'll be back, especially on a Wednesday!

I love this place. It's walking distance from my house and has a huge menu of really good food. Portions are giant, but leftovers are always fun. I love the soups and sandwiches. We've also enjoyed the pastas and salads. They have also done small, customized portions for my kids. I love that.

I really like this place. They offer a varied and quality menu of soups, salads, pasta, sandwiches, calzones and pizza. The ingredients are fresh, the portions very generous, prices reasonable, and staff friendly. Most of the menu items are healthful, which is a nice change from eating out in Louisville. How can you go wrong? The interior is fresh and bright, with (sometimes quirky) local artists on display. There are a few flat-screens in the bar area, too, if you want to stop in for a drink and watch your game. They also have a full bar, a dozen or so draught beers, and a fair wine list. How can it get any better? They deliver. BOOM!

I almost gave just two stars but three seemed more fair. I used to love Cafe Lou Lou's when they opened on Frankfort Ave, and have had several good meals at both of the new locations. The last few at the Highlands location have not been so great. The food was average, the service was below average the most recent trip and the prices are too high (atmosphere is good). They do not offer a lunch menu so you are paying full price but the prices are too high even for dinner. We had two sandwiches and a lasagna for lunch for 3 people and the bill was nearly $50 with tip. The sandwiches came with 5 or 6 soggy waffle fries. There are a lot of really good sandwiches in town for much less. I really hope they can get their act together because I really like the place. They just need to get better bang for the buck and have consistently good food, like they used to. Hate seeing them going downhill.

I've been to the other location (the old one that used to be a strip joint on Frankfurt Ave. and also when it moved to Sears Ave). And though I haven't been to the Sears Ave. location in a few years, my mom said it was really hard to hear people because of the tin roof, which I wasn't aware of the last time I went there. Anyway, we went with my family and had a party of seven plus a baby, my nephew. Initially, we were in the back of the restaurant but my mom requested that we move to the bar area so that we could watch the University of Kentucky basketball game. Go figure--my mom is a huge Wildcat fan! We got a little attitude from the waitress when asking them to turn a certain TV to the game, but otherwise the staff were very accommodating. I didn't realize that Cafe Lou Lou had a limited brunch menu, as in a quiche of the day and a breakfast wrap sandwich. I ordered the wrap sandwich and had a side of steamed veggies (there were three choices and this was the healthiest, although with brunch, I would have preferred a fruit cup or something). The wrap had eggs, spinach, onions, peppers, and bacon and was good but I could not finish it because it was quite large. My mom and grandfather ordered the soup of the day, a crawfish soup with a tomato base. The soup was delicious and light and I would definitely order this if they have it when I dine here again. The vibrant colors of Cafe Lou Lou make me so euphoric. This kind of restaurant makes me want to move back to Louisville. To me, Cafe Lou Lou and other unique Louisville restaurants make memories. Cafe Lou Lou will always remind me of Sunday brunch with my family or a late night dinner with a good friend. By the way, Cafe Lou Lou should create a t-shirt based on the interior design of the restaurant. I would definitely wear it and be proud that I am from the River City.

My wife and I order delivery from here from time to time. The food is always tasty. Tonight, we ordered and realized as we were eating that the calzone we received was not what we ordered. It wasn't a big deal, so we didn't think twice and went on with our meal, not bothering to inform the restaurant. 1/2 an hour later, the general manager, Kevin shows up to our door with the right calzone and a gift card as an apology. This kind of service is what will keep me a loyal customer. Thanks Kevin!

I don't really understand why everyone seems to love Cafe Lou Lou. I've been twice and have found their food to be good, but not remarkable, and a little overpriced. Positives: the calzone is good, ambiance is cozy, and location is convenient and walkable for me. $12 for a bowl of cajun pasta and $7 for a pint of beer (that you can spend $4 on down the street) isn't worth it to me. Especially with all the great spots that have opened up nearby recently. I will admit I do need to give it another chance to see if this pizza is worth it, though!

I was out at a bar with a patio and ordered Cafe Lou Lou to be delivered for dinner. I'm torn whether to give it two or three stars solely based on a delivery experience but opted for two. I ordered the Mediterranean ravioli ($17 for the larger portion). I was less than enthused with the result for two reasons: First, with tax and tip, my dinner cost several dollars more, and, for $20 something dollars, I was hoping to get dinner and enough for lunch the next day. Even if the pasta was homemade, which I'm guessing it wasn't, the amount of money I paid was not worth the amount of food I actually received. The ravioli was hardly "jumbo" as advertised. The meal did look great: ravioli with pine nuts, asparagus, spinach, sun dried tomatoes, and goat cheese. And it came with bread. But for only five ravioli and considering the price, I was not impressed. I kept wondering "If the dinner portion was five ravioli, what is the lunch portion? For five dollars less (the cost of the lunch portion), do you only get three ravioli? Or, if you get four, why would they possibly charge $5 for the difference?" Just a thought. Anyway, I ate all five ravioli and don't have any leftovers for lunch. Second, the brown sugar and lemon sauce was a good thought. Except my meal overwhelmingly tasted like lemon. I tried dipping the bread in the sauce but even opted against that because the lemon was on the edge of being overwhelming. Anyway, I'm not sure I'll be back considering all of the other food places available for delivery in the area.

The diversity of opinion presented in the other reviews here is interesting. Some find this place good but expensive, while others find it cheap but mediocre. Not sure what to make of it, other than that everything is relative, I suppose. Personally, my one experience here was completely positive. I had the lunch special blackened tilapia sandwich ($9) with a side of sauteed veggies, and it was delicious. The bread was a rare balance of crisp crust and soft crumb, the veggies on the side were cooked just so, and the fish was seasoned perfectly. My only complaint is that the quantity of fish was a little lacking relative to the size of the sandwich. I look forward to returning to try the calzone that others have highly recommended.

Ordered the full size shrimp baci tarragon and when I got home and inspected my order I noticed it was very small compared to the other time I've gotten the exact same thing. Called in and talked with a manager, he apologized and gave me a discount for next time! Great customer service!!! For that you get 5 stars! Great Pasta!

See, I'm not a sandwich and pasta kind of gal. This place has much more to offer than those selections, but I just found myself wanting. It's a medium-sized restaurant packed with seating and sound. I'm happy to meet here with a friend if they really love the place, but I'm not likely to return on my own.

My roommate set out to Bardstown Rd (as we normally do) to find a place to grab dinner before heading to the waterfront. When we got to Douglass Loop, we remembered Cafe Lou Lou and decided to give it a shot. My roommate had been here once and said she enjoyed it. Of course when I asked her what they had all she said was "Well I don't completely remember, but I liked the wrap I got." So going into this place only having recognized the name, I had no idea what to expect. We walked in and were greeted instantly and then sat right away. It was just after 6 o'clock so I had prepared myself to wait a bit before being seated. There was a bar at the front of the restaurant and it looked like they had a decent selection, although we did not take advantage of it. Our waitress greeted us within seconds of us taking a seat and she got our drinks to us immediately. The menu was full of things that I really wanted to try and I was STARVING, so I felt like I needed about 4 different entrees. I opted for the Turkey Delight Sandwich with pasta salad. An excellent choice for sure! It came out warm, cheese melted, and bread crispy. The sandwich was giant, so as hungry as I thought I was, I still ended up taking half home. The pasta salad was good, too, although not what I had expected. It had some sort of cream sauce and what I'm pretty sure were roasted red peppers and mushrooms. Again, I did like it but it was different from any pasta salad I've ever had. Now let's get to the reasons for the 3 stars. I loved the meal, so that's one star. The restaurant itself had a good feel to it- a different bright color on every wall, some art, and a nice flow from the setup. The greeters and the manager were all extremely friendly. So that's the second and third star. Our waitress wasn't good, so no star for that. She took our drink order, food order, and gave us our checks. Other than that- she did not come to our table at all. It seems like everyone else there is great, though, so don't let our waiting experience turn you away. And then I just didn't feel a "wow" factor while I was here, so that would be the other missing star. I would probably order delivery/take out from here, but I'm not sure that I will go out of my way to visit again. I just don't see myself having a big craving for anything on their menu.

I went to Cafe Lou Lou with a group of girls to start out the night for a friends Bachelorette party. We got there early - 5 PM on a Friday, but to be safe we made reservations. Good thing we did! While they weren't busy when we first arrived, they already had the tables set up for the reservations that were rolling in starting around 6. I got the meatball sandwich with a side of veggies. It was pretty good. Nothing stellar, but a good meal. I must say the portions are really big for what you pay. All in all, I thought everything was "okay." I won't be in a huge rush to return, but I wouldn't protest it if a friend wanted to go either.

Amazing pizza! I tried ordering other things off the menu and wasn't as happy. Stick with pizza and you'll be good to go. My favorite is the potato pizza. I had tried the chicken shawarma wrap and was disappointed. It was good, but was made with curry and was kind of spicy. Not a traditional Mediterranean way of serving it which is what I was expecting. Tip- Great Flood Brewing is around the corner. Go grab a beer and have Cafe Lou Lou deliver food to you. You wont be disappointed.

Cafe Lou-Lou is a fun, Cajun-inspired place in a great location in the Highlands. I had previously visited their St Matthews location and was glad to check out this place as well. The restaurant is tucked just behind the Heine Brothers, Havana Rumba and Graeter's near Douglass Loop. Parking just in front of the restaurant is on the skimpier side, but -- never fear -- behind the restaurant there is a lot that can be used to park your car. I've visited twice recently and was seated immediately both times. That had me anticipating speedy service, but both times it took a while for our server to bring us water and take our drink and food orders. Speaking of the food, it's very inventive and flavorful. I'd previously only stuck with the Cobb Salad when I visited the St Matthews location, but I branched out and split some dishes recently when I visited this new (to me) location. For appetizers, the Drunken Mussels are fantastic! I'm a mussels fan, and would highly recommend the ones at Cafe LouLou. The IPA gives just the right zing of flavor for the broth and is a nice departure from the typical mussels in wine. The Hummus Trio is another one that I licked clean (ok, not literally, but almost) when I visited. Finally, try out the signature Blue Cheese Polenta if you want to try something that's original and flavorful. Believe it or not, on one visit we made a whole meal out of splitting those 3 appetizers! Another meal had us trying the Combination Pizza. I wasn't a huge fan of the crust -- something thinner and crispier might have suited the pizza better. And I would recommend not getting anchovies on it; they are optional, and I like them in other dishes, but not on this particular pizza. For dessert I was thrilled to see that Bread Pudding was on the menu, as it's something I almost always order when it's available. It's kind of the ultimate comfort food dessert for me; something like a cross between a Cinnabon and Monkey Bread, with a dash of Bourbon flavor. Unfortunately, something was seriously amiss with their Bread Pudding that night. The loaf itself was less than impressive and was a little dry, but the sauce was definitely not right. It had a savory tang to it that we tried to identify before I suddenly said, "You know what? It tastes like soy sauce." My companion agreed. Instead of a rich bourbon flavor covering my bread pudding, I was reminded of Mrs. Butterworth's with a side of Kikkoman. There's enough to please on the menu that I'm sure I'll return, but I'll plan to wait and will definitely skip the bread pudding!

I love all things buffalo. Wings, pizza, nachos you name it. When I heard this place had buffalo chicken pizza I wrote it off and didn't believe that it would be good. I was right because it's amazing! Probably the best that I have had. Working down the road from them is dangerous because they promptly deliver after you order and the food is delicious. They also have a veggie pizza that's great as well. Definitely a fan!

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
