We went to this restaurant and loved it, the food was delicious . the wine was great . the owner came by and chatted with us. I wish this restaurant was in Chicago, I would eat there on a regular basis

Provence is our go to special occasion lunch spot. Today's visit met our usual expectations and more. The bread, always delicious, was today warm and fresh from the oven with the fragrance of it noticeable through the restaurant. I got my usual-French onion soup-which is not to be missed. A large crock filled with piping hot broth and melt in your mouth onions, topped with an impressive chunk of bread and an even more impressive quantity of gruyere. I get the soup because I must save room for dessert and the magnificent coffee. You really don't have a bad option on the dessert menu but La Tropezienne, the cheesecake and the creme brûlée are our favorites. If nothing else, come here for an afternoon coffee and dessert. The service is always superb, appropriately attentive but allowing for relaxing conversation.

stopped by on a whim. Good menu choices, reasonable prices, Mondays are half price bottles of wine :-). Chris was our waiter, and did an excellent job. We will be back! easter special looks good, too.

I came here for lunch and it was amazing! Their fresh bread and olive oil is some of the best I've ever had. I couldn't stop eating it. We started with olive & mozzarella pizza, then had the ruby trout (Thursday's special) and triple berry mousse for dessert. Everything was incredible except for the salad that they served with the trout. That was bad. But everything else was so good I didn't mind!

Few places in this city have me dying to come back. This place is amazing every time. The wine selection is to die for, and reads well for someone like me who isn't a wine snob. The menu is perfection. I haven't even made a dent in the offerings but I'll be sure to report back when I have. So far, I've had the honey lavender pork twice and it's been perfectly cooked and seasoned each time. I've sampled the mussels, fois gras, and steak and been pleased with each. The service is always friendly and the perfect amount of attentive where you don't feel imposed upon or ignored. The owner has been present each visit and has made sure my table was properly taken care of. I can't wait to keep coming back for the food, wine and service. Definitely perfect for a special occasion or a good glass of wine with good company.

Made my reservation on Open Table, arrived right at 6:30 and was seated promptly since the place was nearly empty. We were rushed from the moment we walked in and an hour later we were sent out the door. It was not pleasant. The food was good--especially the mussles but I felt so disappointed by the experience I wrote an honest review on Open Table. Not even a bad review, just honest. A few hours later--well past ten o'clock the phone rang and it was the owner of the restaurant. He was furious. Asked me if the service had been so bad, why had I left a 20% tip. "Because if I hadn't, it wouldn't have been interpreted that the service was bad, but that women don't tip well." The owner replied, "but you liked the food, why the bad review?" I continued, "I wrote that the food was good but the service was not. It makes a difference." He continued to battle with me over several details and I grew tired of defending my opinion. He came back, in a hostile tone, one final time: "I see you like wine." We had ordered a bottle. "Come back and I'll give you a bottle, maybe that will shut up you," was his last response as I simply told him good night and that we we're interested in his offer. I don't know whether to be disappointed in Open Table who obviously supplied my private telephone number or in the rudeness of the owner--or both. Both.

The staff at this restaurant are so personable and friendly unlike some other stuffy French restaurants in town. Love coming by with the dogs to dine on the beautiful patio. Steak fritters a r e especially good or you can get nice appetizers like mussels, salads, cheese and meat assortment or fresh tomatoes in summer. Half price bottles of wine on Monday .

Staff very competent without being intrusive. Onion soup very good and large. The chocolate cake looked good but disappointed.

My wife and I had a quick meal here on our way to an event and we were pleasantly surprised! The food was great and the service was even better. Our 8 month old was fussy and hungry, so the wait staff and chef made sure he had something to appease him. After making him several dishes, fresh green beans did the trick! They went the extra mile. Highly recommend dinner here.

I love eating here! The pate and scallops are some of my favorite apps. The duck and steak are awesome! If you go for lunch, try the swordfish sandwich. It is pretty tasty. The rice and lentils are great sides, I could make a meal out of them alone. Great ambiance, yummy food & dessert, and the staff are all very friendly. I would recommend Brasserie Provence to everyone that wants to try authentic French cuisine!

Nice time, decent food, and pretty decent wine list. ....more of a 3.5. I may be shaded by the fact that I was with very dear friends, but we had a nice time. I really think it's a little pricey for what you get. I won't repeat because of that, considering a comparable menu in a true café in Paris has a tastier menu for as much and frequently less, but I don't really know the food and pricing landscape in Louisville because I only visit here. It was a one time good deal I suppose. Had the hang. stake btw and it was good. cheese board a bit pricy for what you get however.

Brasserie Provence is a relaxing upscale restaurant with fantastic food. From the goat cheese tart to the French onion soup, quiche, steak, sandwiches and everything else I've sampled I am impressed. I think the atmosphere is comfortable and beautiful and I will visit often!

I've dined here twice. I would highly recommend the Lamb. Cooked perfectly! Excellent wine selection. I definitely liked sitting at the bar versus a table, but that's just my personal preference. I also recommend the French onion soup but it is quite a LARGE portion. So if you are ordering an entree plus the soup, know that depending on your appetite, you may be taking most of it home.

I've been looking forward to trying Brasserie Provence for several months now and was excited about their special Easter brunch menu! For $32/person, they offered a 3-course meal where you select from a list of options for each course. There were three people in my party. I had the salad, coq au vin, and L'opera. Others had soup, salmon, lamb, croque madame, and dessert cheese and flourless chocolate cake. No complaints at all about the food...everything was good all around, especially the dessert (which looks like it came from Ghyslain). They also kept the crusty French bread flowing, which was great to soak up the remaining bits of the meal. Our server Thomas was very attentive and helpful. One thing that stuck out to me was someone who I believed was the manager or owner. He seemed a little overbearing to the staff, but not to customers at all; he was very friendly and helpful to customers. He snapped at the hostess when she tried to seat us and I felt some tension when I observed his interactions with the wait staff. Other than that, this was a perfect visit. We'll definitely be back.

First of all i went with $40 worth Groupon paid $21, worth money as not even in chili's you'll pay $21 for two and feels an impressive hi end dinner night even without the money... excellent service to perfection manners... great taste, perfectly cooked everything!

If you like French food, this is the go-to-place on the East side of town. The food is very nice, though not cheap - $15/plate and up - but the quality is first-rate. They do a different special each day; Wednesday's is Leg of Lamb, which I recommend. Portion sizes are reasonable for upscale, and the Proprietor - Guy (pronounced "Gee") is a hoot. I hope this place does well; every time I have been there it has been almost empty, but then I tend to avoid peak times.

My husband and I went there recently for our anniversary and had a wonderful meal. We went back a week later with several friends during happy hour and the experience wasn't so good. I ordered the fish soup. When it arrived, they brought an additional dish of toppings for the soup at an additional charge of $9.00, so the bowl of soup now costs $18. The strong fish odor was offensive to everyone at the table, and after one brave taste, I told the waitress that I couldn't eat it, to please substitute another soup, which she did. When the bill came, I was charged for both soups and asked that the fish soup and toppings charges be removed, which they did. After paying, the chef came to find me, not once but twice, almost following me out the door. He was angry and let me know that in his restaurant, if you order an item and don't eat it, you are expected to pay. I told him I understand and that I wouldn't be back. He then followed me to the door and told me again. I told him the soup was inedible and that I wouldn't be returning, then left. There are too many good restaurants in this town to be treated this way. I won't be going back!

Have been here twice. Both times food and service were excellent. My wife had the the hanger steak. It had great flavor, but was a little tough (thus 4 vs 5 stars). I had the special both times: braised short ribs and bouillabaisse. Both outstanding.

  • Tara S.

Great wine list. The service was good, but for some reason I struggled to hear our server and the lovely manager (owner?) who came by several times to check on us. It was like that noise level where it's not too loud that they feel like they need to speak over the din, but loud enough that it drowns out a normal speaking voice... I felt like an idiot after the fourth time I said "What?" when they were speaking to us. I tried the salmon, it was good, it was very fresh and the preparation was beautiful. The interior of the space is very nice, and the bar looked like a great place to grab a drink after work.

502 restaurant week lunch meal. Chicken sandwich was very good. Salad was just leafy lettuce. Dressing was good. Vinegarette was good.

Disappointing. Lovely restaurant. Chris T. was an excellent server; informative, attentive, & humorous. Food was just OK. Vegetables were good & so was seared cod. Half chicken okay. We were perplexed that the owner visited & conversed with people at all the tables around us. He did tell me "Bless you," when I sneezed. The only other time he spoke was when we were leaving. We were dressed nicely & acted appropriately, just didn't feel very welcome by the owner.

My family and I went to Brasserie Provence this Saturday night for my birthday. My husband got the honey-lavender glazed pork chop and I got the three course dinner with the French onion soup, the moules frites and the cheese course. The portion sizes were surprisingly generous and all of our food was cooked absolutely perfectly and tasted delicious. The standout being the gratin dauphinois, a potato gratin dish. Can I just say that I don't know what kind of magic pixie dust they put in there, but I could eat it all day, gluttony be damned! Seriously, I would have been happy to pay for an enormous plate of just that. It was THAT good. Anyway, I particularly wanted to mention that this upscale restaurant has a kids menu, right in the regular menu. You don't have to hide your head in shame that you would dare to bring a child into the establishment and ask if there was anything that they can make for kids, because it's right there! Not to mention that their kids items were delicious and large enough that my two girls could have easily shared one. They also provided crayons for them to write right on the table that was covered in white paper. It was such a breath of fresh air to be able to take the girls with us for my birthday dinner and be treated so graciously. We really had a wonderful time.

I love French food. I go to France regularly for business and vacations, and I look forward to good food every time I go. Brasserie Provence does a great job of creating food that adheres to French standards while being approachable at the same time. I read about this place in the "11 Cool Restaurants Insiders Frequent" list at Insider Louisville and immediately wanted to try it. Turns out that my favorite bartender's boyfriend is the chef de cuisine. Small world, and a great way to snag a good table on a Saturday night! We were immediately greeted and seated upon entering, and a waiter quickly appeared to provide menus and a wine list. He went over the specials while I perused the extensive wine list. I ordered a beautiful Côtes du Rhône and some mussels as a starter, then we pondered the menu. While we were deciding on dinner, the owner, Guy, came over to introduce himself. We chatted briefly about the south of France, and it turns out his son went to high school in the town where I routinely worked. The mussels arrived in a fragrant, velvety white wine sauce, and the mussels themselves were cooked to perfection. Plump, tender, and not overcooked. For entrees, I had the tuna steak, seared rare, with an heirloom tomato salad and a side of asparagus. GF had the grouper and scallops over polenta, surrounded by a moat of tomato beurre blanc. Divine... As we cleaned our plates, there were a lot of accolades flying around the table. We decided to have the cheese plate for dessert, and it was ambitious on our part. Although the French blue, the Camembert, and the chèvre were all delicious, we were too stuffed to put a dent in the plate. We'll definitely be coming back to Brasserie Provence!

My wife and I decided to visit Brasserie Provence to celebrate our anniversary. Brasserie Provence is tucked one of the nicer strip malls on Hurstbourne. Despite this, the restaurant has a nice ambience. Once inside you would never know you were in a commercial plaza. The hostess provided us with a friendly greeting and quickly seated us. We didn't have to wait long before Tommy, our server took our drink orders. He was very outgoing and efficient. He provided my wife with an excellent wine pairing for her meal. Our meals were delicious and well presented. I had the French onion soup as a starter and the pork chop, I recommend them both, but especially the onion soup which had all the ingredients perfectly balanced. My wife had the Mistral Salad and the Goat Cheese and Tomato Torte, both which she enjoyed. The prices, while not cheap, were definitely reasonable for the quality of the food and level of service. Overall, I highly recommend the Brasserie Provence. The staff was charming and knowledgeable, the food excellent, and it has a very comfortable atmosphere.

J'adore French food and Brasserie Provence is the real deal! I am a woman on a mission to dine at every French establishment in town until I work my way to France next May. First of all, the atmosphere is very nice. Dim lighting, a beautiful bar, live music playing softly and a patio option for nice days. We were greeted with a warm smile and "Bonsoir." I was delighted with the wine list and chose a bottle of French Beaujolais for $32. There is an option on the menu to do a 3 course dinner (limited options) for $29.99 and my husband and I went with that. To start I had the mussels appetizer with a rich, creamy sauce to dip my crusty French bread in. Great flavors. My husband had a house salad with pine nuts, dried cranberries and a light vinageratte. Lamb leg was the special of the day and I ordered that for my entree and the hubby got steak fritters. The lamb came with haricot vert and a lovely skillet of scallop potatoes. The potatoes were out of this world good. The lamb was tasty, but a bit chewy for my liking. My husband's steak was PERFECT! Nice and pan seared on the outside and juicy medium rare inside. After taking of bite of his, i knew he had ordered better than me. For the third course, I chose cheese and he chose a house cake. The cheese was amazing and the server recommended a great glass of wine to pair it with. We finished off our bottle already- of course. Overall- I would say the experience was a 4 1/2 star rating. The service was a 5 for certain. They do have 1/2 price bottles of wine on Mondays, so I will go back and order something new to taste and maybe that will take Brasserie Provence to a 5 for me.

My fiancé had wanted to try this place since it opened. Well he went tonight to get a drink and dinner at the bar. The bartender rudely asked if she could "help him," and when he asked for a drink menu she said "Um, can I see your I.D.?" He handed it over and she just rolled her eyes and walked away. Needless to say, my fiancé got up and left. As Stephanie Tanner from Full House would say "How rude!" There's far too many restaurants with great service in the area to put up with that crap.

We had the pleasure of eating at this restaurant this evening. I must say this place is spectacular from the beginning to end. The food was fantastic and the wine and dessert was equally good. I had the lamb chops and they were cooked to perfection. They had lots of non gluten food so my wife didn't have a problem eating. Escargot was wonderful however louis le francais in new Albany had more flavor.

First visit and we definitely return. We took our time (3 hours) and were never rushed. Our server knew when to present himself and I felt he kept an eye on us from afar. The Cosmos were excellent, very cold. We started with mussels and the tomato-goat cheese tart. Both were delicious. I had the lamb and my spouse, the pork chop. Potatoes augratin were served in a mini cast iron skillet. Our pallets were in heaven. The lamb consisted of 3 very lean chops with a wonderful rosemary sauce. It was the restaurant's anniversary and we were treated with a chocolate torte and glass of champagne.

My husband and I just had dinner there. Impeccable service!!! Our server guided us through the menu like a champ, exuding knowledge and charm, and maintained the patience of a saint with the several other tables and their many, many other questions. We had the three course meal, sharing mussels, French onion soup, and steak and frittes, followed by dessert. Along with the ambience and live music, it was a perfect dinner date. Go and enjoy a lovely time.

I attended a 5 course wine pairing dinner here last night. It was $63 per person and it was well worth it. We started with a light white wine that was accompanied by some passed appetizers (a caramelized onion flatbread, fried goat cheese and some smoked sausage on bread). The other 4 wines were reds. Each of the 4 food courses was delicious and wonderfully prepared. The portion sizes were normal menu sized portions making the $63 price tag really reasonable. Standouts included the pork. It was amazingly tasty and moist. I had to double check the menu that it wasn't beef, it had such good taste and texture. The flourless chocolate cake dessert was very good without being too much or cloyingly sweet. It was a very well organized event and I will definitely attend the next one. Bravo, Brasserie Provence!

Husband and I went here on a Saturday night and it was very good and had a nice atmosphere. Would recommend the goat cheese and tomato tort appetizer. The pork chop was great, but the duck was not our favorite. Good wine selection and service (they even moved us to a nicer table upon request so we weren't in the bar). However, it is pricey, and we would probably not go back without a Groupon.

I was looking forward to French sauces, Bearnaise and Hollandaise at Brassiere Provence and at a recent visit discovered this restaurant had neither sauce. I was disappointed and wish I knew ahead of time, as I would not have dined here.

This was my first time at Provence. I was greeted right away by the hostess and seated in a quaint area in front of the fireplace which I found awesome. The entire ambiance was great, not too loud but yet energetic. Yes, Ill agree I was not sure what french cuisine I would find on the menu, but it was quite the menu and very elaborate. The beverages were amazing as well. The bread was nice and warm and my entree was delicious. Tried some new foods I was not sure I would like, but they were awesome as well. The service was excellent, from the server to the small conversation that was had with the owner. I will definitely return for another dining experience.

It was our first time visit, and overall had more misses than hits. The place itself is elegant and inviting. Menu encampses wide range of French country cuisine as does the wine list. The owner came over several times and was charming and apologetic when called for. It all went downhill once we met our server, who was totally unprepared for the task. Poor knowledge of the menu, food in general, and basic serving tasks. Once we ordered our food (3 adults ordering salads & entrees), he practically disappeared for the next 45 minutes. No one elses attended to us until almost an hour passed from the time we arrived. We were then informed that the Sea Bass in one of our entrees had fallen apart, and they were re firing. Food and drinks review: let's start with the good stuff: the french baguette and desserts from Gyslain were fantastic. Nothing else was. The drinks were weak and skimpy. Salads unimpressive, small, drenched in some cheap vinegar. Entrees - Sea Bass - very small portion ($35), and bland - as were all the entrees. Roast chicken - flavorless, one dimensional. Mussels - pedestrian. Desserts, as mentioned, were excellent - as was the tea service.

Wonderful French cuisine for an amazing low price. The owner who use to manage the Brown hotel did not cut any corners with his menu. Fresh all around, delicious, taste explosion. We went with 5 other people and shared appetizers and entres so I was able to try a variety io offerings. Great wine list too.

I've been to Brasserie Provence twice, once for lunch and once for dinner, and I've been very satisfied with everything that I have gotten. 1) The service is amazing. The wait staff is attentive without being overbearing. I felt like they were available if I had any requests, but they did not hover over the table. We loved the bread provided before the meal and the waiter knew that, so when he boxed the uneaten portion of my lunch, he asked if we wanted to take the bread to go. It's small but things like that make a difference. Both times we went, we used some sort of coupon (groupon and a mail coupon), and the wait staff were super nice about it. 2) The ambiance is really nice. It is in a strip mall, but once you walk in, you forget that immediately. Its well decorated and spacious. 3) The most important part-the food! When I went for dinner, I got a shrimp dish which was delicious, because of all of the herbs that they used in making it. My husband got the steak and fries. The fries, which Im guessing are fried in duck fat, are perfectly crispy and seasoned. The steak was accompanied with a delicious herb butter. The steak wasnt crispy on the outside, but it was soft and juicy. For lunch, I had a salmon red pepper cream pasta dish which was sooo good, it was just slightly underseasoned, which was easily be remedied with the sea salt that's available in every table. My husband got a sliced lamb sandwich with a red onion marmalade, which was amazing! The red onion marmalade added such a delicious "umami" flavor to the sandwich. The bread that they give at the beginning of the meal is also great, the crust is the right amount of crispy and its great for dipping in oil. Overall, this place is a little pricey, but its worth it! Id highly recommend.

We went here for my birthday and while it wasn't horrible it seemed really over priced for the quality. Service was slow but I think that is due to understaffing.

Great food, tremendous service, reasonable price. Half priced bottles of wine on Mondays, and the selection is very nice. We tried two apps, split a salad, two entrees, split dessert and a bottle of very nice Sauvignon blanc all for about $100. We will definitely be back. The food is rockstar quality, and so was the service. Take my word for it: get the mussels, you will be glad that you did.

This is a genuine delivery of a French Brasserie concept. Anyone and everyone is welcome here to whatever style they feel comfortable dining in. I've seen people where everything from suits by Jack Victor to their favorite jeans and flannel shirts with boots every time I dine here. A brasserie is after all a brewery, you would see all types in a brewery, I think. I have never had a poor experience with service at this restaurant. Guy Genoud (Owner), a native of Cannes, France, strives to employ staff who are very serious about learning his menu and being able to explain it well, and Chef de Cuisine Edoardo Bacci (native to Trieste, Italy) is at the helm to make sure the entire menu is presented beautifully on the plate before it arrives to your table. All of the servers have a charming ability to work with their customers but to also retain a great measure of efficiency, and know when to be there and when to be a "ghost" as it were, and to let you enjoy your meal. The ambiance and décor are stunning from the mind of Stacy Duncan, (Genoud's wife and Co-Owner of the establishment), who puts her high level of expertise to work when decorating the restaurant both inside and out, letting us as guests know this is a very high-class establishment, but also includes images from Genoud's childhood past to remind us that this is in fact a family restaurant, and he likes to run it like one. Most importantly however is the food. The best pork chop in town, hands down, and Chef Bacci's favorite meal on top of it. An exquisite plate of grouper and sea scallops as well, not to mention cold-water Scottish salmon cooked in parchment paper, mussels from Prince Edward's Island, gorgeous Seabass cooked on a bed of coarse salt (one of their specialties in fact), beautiful shrimp on a bed of rice...do you understand? The list continues, and that was only the seafood getting the spotlight. If you're not a pork person then you absolutely must try the Ribeye, the Lamb T-Bone Chops, or if you and your loved one are out, enjoy the large Chateaubriand prepared for two, and meet Genoud himself if you haven't already when he comes out to carve it at table. (Or perhaps his son, Gaelan; as I said, it is in fact a family restaurant). So go in. Take a seat, and start with Vin D'Orange (an aperitif that Genoud makes in house from a genuine French recipe), or a bourbon if you must, it is Kentucky. And once you've looked through the menu enjoy. If you took the time to read the lot of this, then please take the time to go. Brasserie Provence. Stunning, beautiful, extraordinary. It's enough said. Santé.

Absolutely excellent dining experience. Fantastic food, wonderful service, and a great atmosphere. Their wine list is extensive and the menu is full of deliciousness. Being located outside the hot spots of Frankfort Ave and Bardstown Rd. gives Brasserie Provence a level of comfort not afforded to restaurants lined up competing for your money. This is a place we will definitely be coming back to more often.

My wife and I had dinner with three other couples at Brasserie Provence Saturday. The restaurant has an impressive menu with many good starters and main courses, one of the best diverse menus I have seen in Louisville. The staff at the front and our service staff were all courteous. Our server helped us select items and did not choose the most expensive items, rather he had a conversation with us to determine the best choice. The restaurant is large, but broken into small areas to make it seem more intimate and improve the ambiance. Selections from our group for starters were salads and French onion soup. The French soup was declared a winner, most salads were good, but one salad had too much dressing causing it to be limp. For main courses the choices were: salmon, mussels, shrimp, pork chops, steak & frites and beef stew. All main courses was declared to be good. Main courses of special interest were the pork chop, seared, cooked nicely, moist and flavorful and the mussels, small, but a good amount with a very good sauce. A few minor issues: the steak was a little tough, the rice wasn't very warm and the gratin potatoes were sub par. The overwhelming opinion was the meals were very good, the ambiance was nice, great service, and a way above average menu. All couples said they would return to Brasserie Provence,

as a group of 8 we knew service might be a bit slow... but not THIS slow. over 1.5 hours to get our entrees from the time we were seated until they came, in spite of asking our waiter to hasten the service due to younger children. other tables [2, 4 and 6 person] seated after us were done before we were halfway through the meal. food was mixed. some was lovely [e.g., the tomato tart] yet the oysters had been pre-shucked which left them dry. the waiter himself was great [not so the owner who told us - in a rather preemptory fashion - that we should expect slow service with such a large contingent]. and, of course, the mandatory 20% tip was added... being the holidays, I left it. Food 3.5; service 1.5. would I return? No.

The vegetable soup is one of my favorite things. I've eaten here twice and love it. The cheese plate is a little pricey but very good. Great place to come with a group.

I was so disappointed with my experience at Brasserie Provence. After waiting so long for it to open and looking at what appeared to be a great menu online I was excited to go. The experience was a disappointment from the moment I walked through the door. Upon walking in I discovered a unattended hostess stand. After waiting 5 minutes with no one attempting to seat us the hostess finally finished her conversation with a other employee a d made her way over to seat us. I made reservations for 4 people, but for some reason she attempted to seat us at a table with only 3 chairs. Then instead of moving us to a table with 4 seats she took a chair from another table and we had to wait while she added another place setting. I guess reservations don't matter to them. The wine list is sad. For a French restaurant they only had a couple dozen cheap reds from France and the US, very inadequate. When the waitress brought the wine she spilled it twice while trying to pour it. Clearly she had very little training. Then we ordered 3 appetizers. The menu is incredibly misleading. We ordered fried zucchini eggplant and calamari beignets, some sort of French pizza with sausage, and escargot. The beignets we just chunks of uncooked zucchini, eggplant, and calamari battered and deep fried, it was more like tempura. They need to look up what a beignets are, because what they served were not beignets. Then there was the soggy pizza, which according to the menu was supposed to have sausage on it, was covered in canned bone filled anchovies. Finally the escargot. They were floating in oil, and tasted of dirt. That is where our dinner ended, because we weren't going to sick around and order entrées. We paid our $74 bill, which included a lousy bottle of wine, and left. I won't be going back to this place. If you want good French food in Louisville, go to Le Coop.

The resaurant appears to be doing about the same. I went with a group of friends over the weekend and the service is still pretty rough. Food was very good though. Hopefully the owner will pull it together over time. It looks like he is trying.

My family went to celebrate my mother's birthday and came away disappointed. The ambience was alright and the food was good, but little improvements would help tremendously. The lack of a coat check was a disappointment especially when it's cold outside. Also, the restaurant was a bit chilly, especially with the temperature well into the low 30s outside, to the point where my sister wore her coat for the second half of the meal. The most disappointing aspect of the experience was the inconsistency of the service. Our waiter did not bother to offer to explain anything on the menu past announcing the special and seemed to be stretched across too many tables. At one point, another server happened to hear our questions, amongst ourselves, and provided the information we were trying to figure out. This server was knowledgable and much more personable than the server we had assigned to our table. Our server seemed to rush the entire meal with little in the way of recommendations during the ordering process or checking in with general small talk that would be expected of the kind of restaurant Brasserie Provence aspires to be. The entire meal was finished in under an hour, which is fine for a normal restaurant experience, but we came with the intention of celebrating a special occasion and it was not a memorable experience. It would help if there had been more servers to adequately assist each table. Additionally, a bit more training for servers, so that they provide a consistent dining experience to every patron, would help significantly. We came away crestfallen that Brasserie Provence could not deliver on its potential to be a great, new restaurant in the area. It didn't feel like the experience you would expect from dining in a french restaurant that is already available at other french restaurants in Louisville. We may give Brasserie Provence another try, in several months, with the hope that they will have remedied the inconsistencies that are holding back a restaurant with great potential. The food allows Brasserie Provence to be worth another shot, but it will struggle if the service does not improve. Right now, there are better options to experience french cuisine in Louisville. Only time will tell if Brasserie Provence will be able to become a place to celebrate.
