I was visiting a vendor here in Louisville for a quick one nighter. Not sure if they don't have many places to eat in this town because our host took us to the same restaurant on our last visit a few years ago. Come to Lousiville and order the fish? Whatever, it was late...we were tired....we were hungry.....they had reservations.... OK, I'm in. The place was packed but our table was waiting. The staff was super friendly and efficient. The host turned us over to the drink staff who made way for the waiter....all very professional. Our waitress suggested several cocktails including one concoction made with gin-infused cucumbers and mint, like a mojito. Not my thing, but the guy who ordered it thought it was awesome. I went for the Kentucky Makers Mark. For apps, we had a seared aji platter and the bang bang shrimp. The aji was perfect with a tangy sauce. The bang bang shrimp was a little overdone for my taste but the few lighter pieces I found were quite tasty. Nice spicy sauce, too. Three of us ordered the orange roughy special which was a breaded fillet topped with crab served over mashed potatoes with a side of succotash. I pretty heavy meal but it was delicious. One of us just told the waitress to bring us her favorite dish, completely blind. She obliged with a salmon filet with an Oscar crab topping and asparagus. Fabulous. The bananas foster thingy for desert was incredible. For a chain, this place really delivered with unique dishes and wonderful service. See you in 3 more years.

One of our go-to restaurants in Louisville. Wife and I have been to the Bonefish Grill perhaps 5 times in the last two years and always have a wonderful experience. Food, drinks and atmosphere is always enjoyable and worth the wait (usually a crowd when we arrive). Strongly agree with other reviewers that the Bang-Bang shrimp appetizer and the Talapia Imperial are perhaps two of the best dishes on the menu.... I've never had a bad experience/meal. It may be a seasonal cocktail, but try the Woodford Reserve bourbon infused with apple....you won't be disappointed. NOTE: I've been to other Bonefish Grills (In Allentown, PA most recently) and they don't seem to measure up to the quality of food and service that's the norm here in Louisville.

Surprisingly fresh and flavorful. I ordered the Wolf Fish which is some ferocious sea creature that eats lobster and shrimp, hence giving it almost like lobster taste.

My hubby & I went to the Louisville location having both been to the Atlanta one. Our experience was wonderful from the service to the food and drink. Of course we had the bang, bang shrimp and my entree was delightful. The two items that impressed me most was their version of fish n' chips. Best ever. Crispy, crispy crust and a fish so perfectly cooked succulent is the best word I could think of. Then there was the cocktail, The Bee's Knees" I think it is the true answer as to what the nectar of the God's is. Pricing reasonable and great atmosphere.

The atmosphere was great. The service was good even on a busy Friday night. The drinks truly had enough alcohol in them and weren't water down. The food was the best. It was pricey, but it was worth every penny. I would definitely go again.

It's hard to come across restaurants that offer both spectacular food and service- which is exactly what you get when going to Bonefish grill. For what it is, it's great. If you want a seafood or steak dinner reasonably priced with a somewhat nicer atmosphere than your typical chain restaurant this is the place for you. I have had the bang bang shrimp(a must- have!), fontina pork chop, seafood specials from their daily menu, the filet, and their sides of potato au gratin, green beans, and a zucchini vegetable medley. All have tasted great. The bang bang shrimp is breaded and fried, covered in a spicy mayonnaise sauce served on a bed of lettuce. The combination of the fat based sauce and lightness of shrimp is divine. The fontina pork chop is also tasty. It typically comes served with a Marsala wine sauce covered in fontina cheese, whole roasted garlic cloves, and mushrooms sitting on the mashed sweet potatoes with the fresh vegetable of the day. I personally find the sweet potatoes to be a bit too sweet for my taste and I opt for the potatoes au gratin every time. When mentioning the food one also cannot forget the bread served with pesto. I haven't found another restaurant that serves pesto with bread and it is a nice change. Service here has always been great. The staff is very attentive and always seems to think about even the smallest things. On my last visited when I asked for au gratin potatoes instead of sweet the waiter asked if I would like them served on the side because the dish is generally composed served on top of the potatoes. I hadn't even thought of this and would have been irritated if they had poured the wine sauce all over the pork chop and potatoes. Little things like that I feel are hard to come by from servers now-a-days. As a plus, if you sign up for their emails they will also occasionally send you free appetizer coupons and $10 off any purchase. Go here if you haven't! You will not be disappointed.

All I needed was the beach outside the window instead of a view of Lowes Lumber to make the meal a 5 star!! I have not been back to Bonefish for a number of years and this has been a mistake. Start off with Bang Bang shrimp...shrimp quick fried in a tasty sauce reminiscent of Chinese Shrimp in a mayo sweet sauce, Caeser Salad was fresh with the right amount of garlic and my entree...ahi tuna with pan asian sauce was perfect. Ending the night with their macadamia nut brownie and shortbread with berries was a perfect ending to the meal. Great job and I will be back!!

My favorite restaurant! I love the sea bass pan asian style. The Raspberry Collins is always good. The side salad is great too. The bang bang shrimp is a must have. Always great

Bonefish is usually consistently good. I have mastered making the Bang Bang Shrimp at home so had to try a different app this time. We went with the seasonal Cold Snap Fire n Ice n Ice Cerviche. I have had excellent Cerviche in various countries so I have seen a few variations and this was not what I had in my mind as Cerviche. The fish was dry and the texture was not correct. Not ordering that again. I ordered the Steak and the wife ordered the crab cake (as my crab cake skillz are slacking these days). Crab cakes were good but my $20 steak n fries were not good. The cut of steak was supposed to be a fillet but I have never had a fillet like this. It even makes me question the cut. Over all a disappointing meal. At least the service was good.

Nice atmosphere, dreadful food. Want a romantic, dimly lit meal? This is the place. Want some good seafood? Keep driving.

Got takeout and had the salmon Cobb salad. I also had their corn and crab chowder. The salmon was cooked perfectly and the soup was delicious. However, the salad was mediocre and could use different greens of higher quality. The bread and olive oil was awesome!

Low lighting, very quiet ambiance for 4:30 on a Sunday. We ordered the bacon scallops, bang bang shrimp and ahi tuna sashimi. The food taste was good and the servers were very accommodating. It was altogether a pleasant experience, but the pricing ($3 for a coke?) is a bit exorbitant for what you receive. The food was nothing out of the world spectacular, nor were the ingredients, it was basic chain restaurant quality with higher food fare items on menu. In short, it's good for a quiet pleasant experience but you can get better bang for your buck elsewhere.

Bonefish has been our favorite chain restaurant for years...it never disappoints. We started off with Mac n cheese bites. They were small but with five of them they were just right for a small appetizer. We then had their delicious bread with pesto. For entrees we had the filet with the bernaise sauce with garlic whipped and augratin potatoes. I had the lobster Thermidor which was a special. It came with a side of garlic mashed potatoes and couscous. The sides were ok but the lobster and mahi mahi was amazing...it sits in a sherry sauce...so good. We didn't have room for dessert but their creme brûlée is always great too. The service is always stellar. If you like seafood or steak...this is a must for you!

Ok, I've been here with the hubs quite a few times (mostly on Wednesdays because he LOVES their bang bang shrimp) but I've never gotten a take out order until tonight. And let me tell you, I've never seen another restaurant more diligent with their take out orders. Everything was separated in its own little section in the boxes, like they created that box for that specific dish. This is something I really appreciate because when I get home (they don't know how long I'm driving) I don't want a soggy salad, or potatoes all over my fish. Tonight the hubs and I split a bang bang shrimp (the lettuce, shrimp and sauce were each separate so we could mix them ourselves), the ahi tuna starter (all sauces were separated in their own little section so as not to cause extra waste) and the trout with lemon butter sauce. The two sides were in a section and our sauce was in a container. Seriously, epic win for Bonefish Grill!!!!

A few friends and I all had our first experience here on Tuesday when we went for Tuesday Tales of Lobster which is every Tuesday. Man, what a great deal. I had lobster tail, steamed vegetables and a large house salad all for $12.50. You can get the tail by itself for under $8 on Tuesdays. And it was soooo good. It was perfectly steamed and the salad was great also. It had water chestnuts as well as kalamata olives. I would recommend that anyone that hasn't tried it yet to at least go once on a Tuesday. We arrived at 4:30 so it wasn't very crowded yet, but by the time we left it was shoulder to shoulder in the bar area waiting on tables so go early.

Went for my first visit last week for the Tuesday Tales of Lobster. This is a special currently running every Tuesday. My friend and I both had the Steamed Cold Water Lobster Tail Dinner for $12.90. It comes with a salad and a side. The food was excellent. You can also get the Lobster Tail without the salad and side or Lobster Roll Sliders + Fries - each are $7.90. Or Steak topped with Lobster Thermidor with garlic whipped mashed potatoes for $16.90 (comes with a 6 oz. wood grilled sirloin but can be served with a filet instead for an additional $6). The drink special was a Blackberry Tom Collins for $5 which was also very good. They also have other daily specials. Entrees are served with complimentary bread and pesto. The service was great and our server was very friendly. The atmosphere and decor was very elegant. We got there around 4:30 and were seated immediately but by the time we left there was a long wait for tables. I will definitely be returning in the future. Everything on the menu sounded great so if you are a seafood lover this is a great place to try.

I visit a Bonefish restaurant in Hoover Alabama often. Saw this location and decided to try it out. Glad to say the food was excellent. We had bang bang shrimp and fish and chips. The fish was flaky and the chips (fries) were baked to perfection. Great service.

I don't LOVE chain restaurants... except Bonefish. There really isn't a more consistent restaurant to have dinner at in the East End of Louisville, KY. Everything I have ever eaten at Bonefish has been fantastic. The waitstaff knows the menu (even the wine menu) and for the overall level of service dinner could cost a little more and I might still pay for it. Don't get me wrong... the main appeal for me is that it is fine dining quality without spending $75 a person. SIDE NOTE: Outback Steakhouse is Bonefish's cousin and if you purchase $100 in GC durning the holiday season you get $20 as a bonus. They can be used at Bonefish OR Outback! MAKE A RESERVATION! This place is always BUSY! Favorite Foods: Longfin Imperial Bang Bang Shrimp Lobster Corn Chowder Coconut Pie Fantastic Date Night OR Dinner with the Family (adult family that is)

A 90-minute wait on a Saturday is apparently not out of the norm, but you can cut that noise if you're quick and ready to pounce on a table in the bar. The wait staff was very friendly and even remembered what one of our party had ordered the last time they were in weeks ago. We started off with drinks, which were well mixed and the beer was... well poured, I guess. Appetizers called for the specialty Bang Bang Shrimp which was absolutely delicious. I could have ordered a couple more of those and just been satisfied. Instead, I went with their Lily Chicken; breaking one of my own rules of not ordering a dish other than what the restaurant specializes in (in this case, fish). To me, the slices of feta that adorned the marinated chicken were too thick and overwhelmed everything else. Disappointing, but I would imagine that other dishes may be excellent and I would give Bonefish a second try.

If you're thinking about trying bone fish grill, come on a Wednesday. Why? Bc that's when they have the bang bang shrimp deal. Come early during dinner hours because they do get really crowded.' I have tried most of their grilled fish items and their specials. They're all real delicious. My ink complaint is that it gets pretty greasy, and you feel like your face is oozing oil after you eat. I must say I highly recommend this place if you're not on a diet. I haven't had a single bad item from this place. They also have happy hour drink specials too. Perfect place for a date or a family dinner night. Don't come if you don't like seafood.

We have very few seafood options in Louisville, most are just fried fish joints. Bonefish is ok for seafood, but I never feel comfortable in there. The wait is always way longer than it ever should be, and the bill is usually higher than it should be. Unfortunately we have few options, so when you want seafood you know the food will be ok maybe even good. I personally don't like the setup with the dining room, only seat you can get and feel somewhat comfortable is a booth. If you wait for a booth, you might as well drive to Cincy for good seafood at Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen.

I previously has some bad experiences at other locations but decided to go back. We sat up at the bar and had some appetizers (bang bang shrimp is great) and wine. Choices were great, prices were good. Service was also good. I would definitely go back to this location!

We went to Bonefish Grill for the first time and we were not disappointed! We ordered the coconut shrimp for appetizer and they were huge and Tasty. We both ordered the lobster special- it comes with a nice size salad and a side along with the lobster tail-also they bring bread with a nice dipping Sauce. The service was great as well was the server Matt. Can't wait to go again! Sandy v. Wood Dale, Il

We went here for dinner on a busy night. The staff was very friendly and since we still needed to run a few errands after dinner, we decided to take their advice and help ourselves to a bar, high-top table no waiting versus waiting for a booth/table in the dining area. This was not our first time at Bonefish and we ordered our favorite appetizer, their Bang Bang Shrimp which was, as usual, delicious! This is an appetizer of shrimp that's breaded and fried, then tossed in a creamy, spicy sauce served on a bed of greens. We both ordered off of their special/seasonal menu: I had the seared Ahi tuna and my husband had the pumpkin ravioli and swordfish. Both dishes were wonderful and offered something different for our pallets which are used to burgers, pizza, and fried chicken...I choose to order my fish with a side of rice and green beans instead of what it came with. It was nice that this wasn't an issue, alot of restaurants' "special/seasonal" menu items are not substitutable. Their rice is white and prepared similarly to Asian rice; shorter grain and sticky versus long grain and loose. They also mixed the rice with a blend of cilantro and probably butter (or something else yummy) because the rice itself tasted great. Despite being busy, our waiter was attentive and sincere each time he checked up on us between tables. We would definitely recommend Bonefish if you up for fresh fish, new flavors, and nice people!

I love this place! The food is always top notch. The price is a little higher than the average, but it is well worth it! I loved the mango salsa that topped both the sea bass and tilapia orders I have tried. The asparagus is also a big treat; unlike other places I have tried they know how to let the taste of the food stand strong without adding too much and ruining it.

This was my first time but my husband had visited Bonefish Grill once before. We've heard good things but unfortunately we will not be going back. We did make reservations, thank goodness because at 5:00 on a Thursday it would have been a 2 hour wait. We ordered the Bang-Bang Shrimp for an app - it was OK but nothing I'd write home about. The presentation was not very good - a pile of shrimp swimming in a sauce on an even larger pile of bagged lettuce is not all that appetizing. The shrimp was OK - ours tasted like it was reheated - not freshly battered and fried then tossed in a sauce. There was no crispness to it - frankly you couldn't tell where the batter ended and the shrimp began. The whole dish was rather blah and with the exception of a couple of bites it was kind of tasteless. I kept thinking maybe it was just ours but out of the many people around us that ordered it I didn't hear anyone comment on how good it was. My husband ordered the Tilapia with a seafood cream sauce on top, mashed potatoes, and garbanzo beans. The garbanzo beans were fabulous, mashed potatoes and fish were good; however the cream sauce on top of the fish tasted like it was a processed sauce and not one made in the kitchen for his dish. I ordered the Tilapia Imperial, which was recommended by a server, with garbanzo beans and pumpkin stuffed ravioli. The beans and ravioli were very good; however, my fish really tasted like it was a processed entree that they received frozen and heated to order. My son ordered the kids grilled fish with green beans - he didn't eat any of it due to filling up on bread. However, I would have preferred that we were allowed to cut the fish at the table not receive grilled fish pieces. The service was nice but a little on the slow side. He graciously took back the house white wine which my husband didn't care for and did not charge us for it even though I finished his portion. If my review was based solely on the service I would happily give 4 stars; however, it's not - its on the food and ours simply was not that good. We walked out feeling like we just visited a more expensive Red Lobster and glad we didn't pay for the meal but bummed because we wasted money on our gift card. My husband and I both agree that this could have been an off night.

Bonefish Gril is one of those chain restaurants I'm not ashamed to say I like. I've been to 3 of them in Louisville and Cincinnati. I've never had a bad meal the numerous times I've dined there. Their bartenders make some refreshingly strong, yet not too boozy or sweet cocktails I always end up getting something from their daily specials. The wolf fish has been my favorite. The texture does taste sweet like lobster or monkfish. And I always like the daily "vegetable" sides they offer. It's not your average steamed broccoli or carrots. Something unique like chickpeas with olive oil always intrigues me. I think the restaurant is designed to get you in and out efficiently. I've never felt like I should linger and chat since the dining room is very open and not intimate enough for long conversations.

My second visit. Stuffed Talapia Imperial was phenomenal. Shrimp and scallops is another tasty entree. Calamari is okay. Atmosphere is a tad noisy. I'll come again.

We went to Bonefish to celebrate a coworkers birthday last Thursday. When we arrived (thank goodness someone had called ahead for a reservation), the place was absolutely packed with folks in town for Street Rod Nationals. Despite the crowd, the service was very prompt and attentive. Our food was out in no time. The server even overheard us mention my friend's birthday and brought out some chocolate covered strawberries for the birthday girl. If I were just scoring the service, this would be a 4-4.5 star review. Unfortunately, our promptly delivered food was a little underwhelming. I had swordfish with mango salsa that was quite good. The tomato and feta salad was a major let down though. The tomatoes were tasteless and mealy beefsteaks. In the height of summer tomato season, with any number of local farmer's to provide some heirloom deliciousness, this is not okay. Not knowing about the chocolate covered strawberries to come, we ended our meal with a creme brulee. Or at least, we ordered creme brulee. We were served runny vanilla pudding with a caramel crust.

Five of us converged on this fine chain establishment for dinner. I hear this location is always packed. A good sign and it was packed tonight. We were greeted immediately and continued to get amazing service throughout the meal. very knowledgeable server. The manager also came out to greet us and spend time talking with us. Great appetizers. We all had various fish entrees prepared in different ways. They were all excellent. Great presentation, great tasting. Desserts were very good as well. It is a 4-5 star location.

I usually like the Bonefish but, this is one of the worst in the country. Food was just ok but the service at the bar was really bad. The bartender was not in a good mood. well you, GET IN A GOOD MOOD! We're paying you. The shrimp were soggy, the tuna and trout were not really fresh. It's seafood, people: it has to be fresh, fresh, fresh (unless you're the Olive Garden). The usually perfect temperature red wine was warm. I won't be going to this one again. The only one worse, is in Miami, FL.

  • Kristin S.

I hadn't been here before because I generally don't enjoy seafood, however, this was fabulous and had a great selection of items other than fish. I had the Lily's chicken, which was chicken breast with spinach, goat cheese, and a lemon basil sauce. The side was summer vegetables and a perfectly seasoned steamed broccoli dish. The dessert I split with my cousin, a creme brulee, and it was the best creme brulee I had ever had. We ate at the bar because it was so crowded, but the bar staff are very friendly, personable, and willing to give meal suggestions. Oh, and I tried my cousin's salmon, and it was very tasty, not at all like the salmon I remember my mom forcing me to eat (gotta love those salmon patties!) All I could taste on that was the wood smoke from the grilling process. I will definitely go back.

Mr says... Mrs says.... as our starter dish, we ordered one from their specialty menu - fish taco and it was delicious. the texture of the shredded fried breaded fish with their signature mango salsa was perfect. by the way, they served you a warm bread which we got after our starter dish. it was ok since we got our fish taco. we enjoyed the pesto sauce (with pine nuts) that was served with the warm bread. i got myself a cup of corn chowder soup which to my surprise need not to have tabasco (i like spicy and i put tabasco to almost anything). the corn chowder was alright. there's a subtle kick to it. i had the fried calamari and what i like about it are the two sauces: the typical red tomato base sauce and the thai chili sweet sauce. it compliments. overall its fried, crispy just the way i wanted. for the entree you get to pick a sauce (there were 4 of them) and since i enjoyed with the mango from the fish taco, i ordered the same for the mahi-mahi. if you're looking for great tasting fish where you could taste the freshness, this is the place to go.
