Very good pasta primavera, the wine sauce really popped. Bruschetta was excellent, large bowl of tomatoes and cheese. I was pleasantly surprised, service was good, but a little clumsy, topped it off with a cannoli, wonderful. $60 including tip, I thought it was a pretty good value actually. This restaurant is better than the italian place in the JW Marriott in Indy, and less expensive. We just have really good restaurants in Louisville, and the chains have to keep up, to the delight of all.

I bought a gift certificate from WDRB's Be Our Guest morning show and was sooo looking forward to some cocktails before a concert. When I grab the certificate it had expired by 12 days... I thought well they are a professional place and would hopefully let me use it so I called and the Hostess asked the Manager Taylor if they would honor the certificate and I was told "no, they wouldn't." Very disappointed!

We went here before prom at the Galt House and I was pretty disappointed for how much I paid. I got the parmesan chicken and I have to say, I can make better. Heck, my local Olive Garden can make better, and that's an incredibly sad thing to say considering Blu is supposed to be a "genuine" Mediterranean restaurant. However, the portions were huge and the service was descent. I think the best thing I had eaten that night was the little chorizo corn dog they brought out to you before the meal. All in all, I was disappointed with the amount of money I dished out.

Rather high prices, but the service, atmosphere and food were very good. The antipasto plate was excellent, and I especially liked the Chocolate Mint Julep martini. My friends enjoyed the pasta primavera and the margherita flatbread. We arrived near closing time but were treated well and never rushed. We got stamps for the Urban Bourbon trail even though we were in the restaurant section.

I like to think of myself as a bit of a restaurant snob, especially when it comes to seafood. I eat a lot of seafood and I know when it's good. BLU's seafood just didn't ring my bell. I ordered the Seafood Risotto which was generous with the risotto and had four different types of seafood on the platter. However, only two of them were good. The lobster was so tough, I couldn't even eat it. Disappointing for the price. The service was alright, just a little on the slow side. The atmosphere was wonderful and it made my meal and my company much more enjoyable.

I had the distinct displeasure of dining at this restaurant after attending business meetings there for the past 2 days. The service was slow, the food was tasteless, and the restaurant nor its staff showed any acknowledgement or apology. It started with a fork that looked like someone had just eaten from then put it back on the table, followed by a 15-20 min gap waiting for someone to take our drink orders, which were wrong too! Ahh, and the food, which took close to an hour and was still wrong and tasteless (i informed the waitress of food allergies and someone must have forgotten). No one dared say anything for fear that they'd get some additional seasonings from its preparer... The decor was nice, but there's no way I'll EVER grace this place again....

I had the pleasure of dining here twice since we moved down the Louisville. Both meals were fantastic. Our first visit was during restaurant week. Of course all the entree's were fish and chicken themed. I'm not a big fan of either. The Chef was nice enough to make me a short rib dinner. It was delicious. One of the best short ribs I've ever tasted. On my next visit I ordered a Rib eye steak. It was top notch!!. A great cut of meat cooked to perfection. When my friends from Chicago start trickling down this summer, Blu is one of the first places I'll take them. The food, decor and service are all 5 star worthy.

Stayed in the Marriott for a business trip so was lucky to eat at Blu for lunch and breakfast. The bison burger was perfectly cooked. Was so mad I didn't get a chance to finish it. (Meetings to run to.) Stopped in the next morning for breakfast and that didn't disappoint. My eggs were perfectly fluffy and the hash browns were divine. Friendly helpful staff too.

Had an excellent experience here for dinner! It sounds weird to rave about the bread, but this place had the best bread I've ever had at a restaurant! We got the mussels which were just OK - a little fishy and not the best I've ever had but not terrible. I got the filet and lobster mac and cheese and it was AMAZING. I highly recommend it! The staff was friendly and we had a great experience. It is in the marriott hotel and the atmosphere was great! I would definitely come back!!

Chocolate Mint Julep! We stopped in the bar after a baseball game because I read about this drink in the Urban Bourbon Trail book. We ordered one drink in case we didn't like it. We quickly ordered another one after one sip. I didn't think there was any way bourbon and chocolate would taste well together but it was fantastic.

So, its downtown. In a Marriott. So you think, oh OK, mediocre, overpriced hotel restaurant, right? NO. (well, OK it is a little pricey, but did I mention it was downtown and in a hotel lobby? Anyway, I digress) I started off with the Sweet Corn and Mascarpone Ravioli which came with a smoky, charred pepper puree. It was gorgeous and incredible and i would have been thrilled had they just stopped there. But then the entree arrived which was a Pomegranate-Honey Glazed Salmon. Rarely have I had salmon this good in a city that was not Seattle, New York or Anchorage. It came with a butternut squash risotto which was good, but a tad heavy and bland (although I've never had a "perfect" dish of risotto in any restaurant, ever, so I will let that one slide). I sampled my partner's seafood risotto, which had HUGE pieces of scallop, shrimp and mussels - and half a lobster tail! Again with the risotto, but those scallops...I could forgive anything for more of those! But how in the world does a hotel restaurant, in Kentucky of all places, serve such a dreamy, perfect Italian cannoli I will never understand. These were huge, with shells that were obviously filled to order since they were as crispy and light as autumn leaves, with that perfect sweet and tangy ricotta filling and just enough mini chocolate chips and pistachios to make my old Italian grandmother shed a tear (er, if she were still alive, that is). My friend got the zeppoles which were awesome and came with a chocolate sauce. But the best was when I ordered coffee - you get a little tray of goodies so you can customize your coffee any way you want (mine came with cream, a raspberry whipped cream, a cinnamon stick, a chocolate curl, and a piece of rock candy. Amazing! Add to that a lovely seating area and top notch service and I will think of Blu whenever I am meeting someone downtown or am having a desperate need for cannoli :)

I ate here while I stayed at the Marriott. The breakfast buffet is delicious! So many options and beautiful decor.

Ironically, I have had many mediocre meals recently at the supposedly cream of the crop Louisville restaurants. Then I read these review and think, "oh is it about to happen again here at Blu!" Well, I m happy to inform that my meal was extremely good and would have been excellent if it were not for the lobster being overlooked BUT the shrimp, risotto, mussels and scallops were perfect! My husband throughly enjoyed his steak. Another in our party claimed he broccoli soup was excellent. Service was great, he was attentive and personable (sorry I do not render his name) Of course what is not to love about a Chocolate Mint Julep - pricey yes but not overly so based on. The fact that it is in a hotel in downtown Louisville and actually not as high priced as the surrounding steak house that I have been disappointed in....

My friend and I came for a great meal. We were sadly disappointed by our moody waitress and terrible food! The gluten free chicken Parmesan was less than appetizing. The sauce was so thick it was difficult to eat. The gluten free pasta was not hand made and was disappointing. My friend got the filet. For $40, you'd expect a decent steak. The steak was not cooked well and was lacking in flavor. The service was terrible. Our waitress acted like she was annoyed to be there. The wait staff, chef, manager, etc. all hung out on the side of the kitchen instead of attending to us. Considering they were overstaffed and only had about 10 guests eating, there was no excuse. It was extremely disappointing considering the other reviews on Yelp and TripAdvisor that gave it a great rating. Bottom line, don't waste your money! There are much better, more amazing places to enjoy in Louisville!

This is a terrible restaurant. Three of us (two lawyers + one expert witness) ate here. No one enjoyed it. The wine list was weak. The Caesar salad tasted bag-fresh. I have had better pasta on an airplane and/or from a can. Strongly recommend the Marriott replace this with anything better.

Good food. Good prices. Good service.... ... all of this taking location into account (downtown hotel). I wouldn't go out of my way to go, but wouldn't mind eating here again if I were back in this neck of the woods.

Great bourbon selection. Very good live music,. 2 stars for ripoff prices, even for a hotel bar. 2 ounce pour of Blantons is $25, which equates to $350/bottle. Holy corn mash! This is a good bourbon, one of the best, but retails for around $55-$60 for a bottle at a liquor store. 6 times is just a ridiculous markup, absent of some phalangeal services.

We went to the bar at Blu on a Sunday night as part of our mission to earn an Urban Bourbon shirt this week. It is a small bar. The bartender Matthew was fantastic! We were all happy with our cocktails and very happy with the service.

We got far more than we had hoped for when we wandered in to this place, which appeared to us to be a soulless hotel bar. This review is for the bar only, as it was one of our Urban Bourbon Trail stops, and we would not have ventured it had it not been on the trail. We were lucky to have an awesome bartender here. He walked us through some of the many fantastic bourbon options. Even better, he told us about several neighborhoods we would not have explored or even known about had he not given us the local tips. It really made a huge difference in our whole trip.

Good food and high prices, this is what you would expect from a restaurant in a high-end hotel. Don't get me wrong, the food and service were very good, but not great. The seafood risotto was covered with seafood, but not packed. The risotto portion was good, but not great. I would order it again, but I did expect more in for the prices. The highlight of the evening was the coffee service. It comes with a nice tray of cinnamon stick, chocolate shavings, whipped cream and rock candy. Very nice touch. The canollis where very well presented and hit the spot with the coffee. All in all, if you have the money, stop and enjoy a good meal.

The night we arrived in L-ville on business, we were too tired to go outside the hotel for food and decided to try this place because the menu looked alright. It was around 7:30 or so that we sat down and the restaurant was maybe half full. The service was terrible. We sat for at least 15 minutes before our existence was acknowledged and our water glasses were filled. Our waiter seemed harried and distracted and didn't know anything about the daily specials. I felt like I was inconveniencing him to ask. We waited another 15-20 to see him again and place our orders - we were getting ready to leave and go to the hotel sports bar, but we could hear the terrible music they were playing and decided to skip it. I ordered a specialty salad (I think it was named after the restaurant) that had mixed greens, nuts, cheese and a yogurt-type dressing. It sounded good, but was disappointingly mediocre in taste. My fellow travelers ordered flatbread margherita pizzas and said they were OK, not great. The bread was the highlight of the meal. It was warm and fresh and tasty.

Unfortunately, not a very good place. The service was poor; I had to ask for menu and wine list at the bar. The bartender's opening statement to me was "would you like to put this on your room?" WOW. I ordered spaghetti and meatballs with a salad. Salad was fine, meatballs were dry and past overlooked. It is a nice looking place but ......

Located inside the Marriott Regency in downtown Louisville. I only had the minestrone soup which was only $5 for a very generous portion. What I liked about this soup is that it was not too salty, which it seems a lot of restaurant soups are. The music and ambiance is super modern and cool. It's a great place to be, although pricey. Maybe I will return to try an entree.

We ate here twice while staying at the downtown Louisville Marriott. Their drinks were top notch. And they have an excellent Bourbon selection (this seems to be a theme in Louisville)! Also, gluten tears me up. So I was thrilled to find a gluten free menu w several choices. The staff is also very friendly and careful to check w the kitchen to be sure things are made properly. We went pretty late, but out waiter didn't try to hurry us out. And it was very quiet. All around a very good experience.

There are many good restaurants in the Louisville area. This one is good if you're staying at the Marriott Downtown and don't really want to venture out. They do have very nice pasta and seafood selections as well as steak. I had the seafood pasta which was very nicely prepared and certainly enough. Service was good.

What is it with bars that don't include prices on their cocktail menu? It's not like they're serving market value liquor. While BLU is an aesthetically gorgeous bar, it wasn't my favorite stop on the Urban Bourbon Trail. Perhaps I was expecting more since it was featured on the TV show, "Drinking Made Easy." As our group settled in to one of the tables, two couples were each handed a drink menu, while our third couple went ignored. The server walked right by and continued to place drink menus on empty tables. When she returned to take our order, she seemed bothered than Couple #3 needed more time to decide. When we pointed out she forgot our menu, she retrieved one from an empty table and scoffed, "Typically, this table only gets two menus." I looked around, baffled. We were the only customers in the bar area. What would be the logical thought here: process and rules, or making the customer happy? I ordered a Muddled Marmalade Bourbon. For something so sweet, it certainly had a bite. I was expecting to be served a smoother bourbon. Instead it made my face crinkle. BLU is lovely place to look at, but it didn't live up to the hype. Fortunately, when the bill came, our unpriced drinks were still affordable: $10.00 each. We were a bit worried we'd mistakenly order a $50.00 shot. C'mon, would it be that bad to put prices on your menu? You're still fancy with $10.00 cocktails.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Greek Cuisine

Greek food is a fine melody of the finest pressed olive oil, fresh fermented bread, colorful vegetables, juicy meat, sea food all cooked in spices and fresh rosemary. The people from Greek were great scholars who aimed to excel in everything they do. The results are quite visible in their food as they are the inventors of olive oil which is beneficial to health. Greeks also made different type of wines from the best quality of grapes fermented in controlled environment.

Today, you can find hundreds of restaurants offering authentic Greek food or popularly termed as Mediterranean cuisine in New York city alone. People wait in line to taste the exotic Greek dishes like saganaki, taramasalata, souvlaki, loukoumades, spanakopita, moussaka, and many more. One thing which most people like about these authentic Greek dishes is abundant use of lemon juice, olive oil, fresh rosemary and sea salt. A smart mix of few ingredients can virtually take you on the pebble streets of beautiful city of Greece.

For those who don't have time to enjoy fine dining should try tasting the famous souvlaki with pita which is type of meat dish, also a trademark Greek fast food. For those who are vegetarian, or vegan can try different versions of Greek Salad. So, if you wish to enjoy a hearty yet healthy meal that tastes divine then try dining at the best Greek restaurant in your city. Greek cuisine not only tastes good but also help maintain your body in a natural way through healthy diet.
