Everything is sooooooooo good here. They have crazy happy hour prices...$1 domestics from 4-6:30 Monday through Thursday with special priced rolls and apps. Best rolls...Flower Roll and Pretty Women Roll.. Calmari Pop is incredible...For an entrée go with the Salmon with mango sauce or the Combination Ramen.... As far as dessert goes I have two words for you tempura cheesecake...Heavenly..... Lots of sushi places around. But I keep coming back here.....Quality food... moderate prices and great service..

We went here because they have one heck of a Groupon deal. U eat $30 dollars worth of food for $15 dollars. We enjoyed our calamari pop appetizer, many meats and veg skewers and the spicy devil roll.

I really like this place they always have a groupon so with that we usually get 3 of the better rolls and end up paying like 25$ including tip so it's a great value and I love the rolls they put together. The black jack roll is amazing one of the best deep fried rolls ive ever had! Definitely give it a try. Also it's never really packed so the service is always pretty quick!

The best thing on the menu: phill bulgogi! I had a groupon voucher to check this place out and I was pleased by the food and service. I will definitely be back!

We recently moved into Clifton and This place is a quick walk from our new home. We were hankering for a mix and stopped down on a Saturday night. Front room had a very hip vibe, service was fast and attentive. Started with calamari pop and fire fire, presentation was clean and flavors were crisp. My boyfriend claims the Katsu Don to be the best he's ever tasted and he's been trying to find an above par serving all over town. I had the white spicy roll, again presentation clean, roll flavors good. All in all we will definitely be back. Will be interesting to see if traffic picks up as it becomes more well known.

Came with a party of three. Service was very friendly and the food was excellent. We had some sushi to start with and several skewers of shrimp, chicken and steak. The steak was a bit too done for our taste but everything else was fantastic. We will be back for sure!

Great beer and sushi. We had a few spicy sushi pieces and they were amazing. Definitely recommend if you are in the area.

I got the ramen and it was delicious. A little on the spicy side, but a very good flavor. The gyozo (sp?) is pretty good and the house salad and house dressing is very good. My wife got some sushi and it wasn't rolled or cut properly so it fell apart when she picked it up so she didn't really get to eat much of it. That was the only complaint. Eating outside at night was very nice, only thing was the smokers blowing in your face. Will go back!

I'm giving this a four-star rating, not only because the sushi was excellent, but because anyone who has been to New Orleans knows how near-impossible it is to find good crawfish outside of the city and surrounding area. It's always best if it's fresh. That said, Barcode 1758 found a way to extract flavor from (I'm guessing) frozen crawfish and enhance it with smokey goodness in a sushi roll. I have to say that their New Orleans roll is one of the best rolls I've had. Ever. The patio is nice, staff great, cocktails wonderful, though some were a bit sweet. We will definitely make this place a favorite spot.

I'm giving this place a solid 3 stars. It's owned by the same people as Osaka on Frankfort, but definitely a different experience. I came here for an outdoor relaxing evening, which is exactly what I got. The outdoor patio is large and enjoyable. The service is a bit spotty (but not terrible) and the sushi is fairly good. If I was going based on sushi, I'd go to Osaka over this. If I wanted a relaxing evening with cheap drinks and food, I'd come here. I will definitely be back, but I'm glad I understand the atmosphere.

This place is dope. My wife and I were driving around, trying to find a place to have a beverage when we stumbled upon Barcode. The thing that caught our attention was the beautiful patio and the opportunity to sit out on a balmy evening, such as the one this evening. No wind. 82 degrees. Absolutely divine. I wasn't going to order food, but decided that I had to try the "White Spicy Roll." A crab and tuna mix. The flavor was spot on. I lied to my wife, who can be a very picky eater. "What's in it?" "Tuna." "Is that it?" "Yep!" *She eats half of the roll* "Mmmmm! This is delicious!" "AH HA! It had crab in it! You DO like crab!!" Point is, it's a good place. And it's even good for people that are picky eaters. She had a Long Island Iced Tea. I had a Samuel Adams Seasonal Brew. Both of us were satisfied. They had a decent drink list. Somewhat impressed. Our server was a girl named Erin. We're fans. She did a job as well or better than you'd hope. Shout out. Great location, great patio, and delicious food. It didn't knock my socks off, hence the four stars. But it's certainly worth putting on your list and making the effort to visit.

I found this restaurant confusing. It is nice inside, with super-friendly staff and a decent bar (good beer selection, good cocktail possibilities although on the sweet side), but the food is all over the place. So many things, instead of focusing on what is really good. There is sushi. I tried a roll with avocado, tamago, and surimi, which was pretty good, but it was huge! There is ramen. One of my dining companions had the vegetarian ramen with tofu, and she said the flavors were really good. There are skewers, which do make for great bar food. The bacon-wrapped asparagus was very tasty. Oddly, the sauce on the skewers involved something white and thick, like a cream sauce, but not. It was tasty but I thought was too much. Usually those skewers at Japanese restaurants allow the flavor of the vegetables and meat through, but that sauce was really overpowering. The rice that came with the skewer plates was fried. This, above all else, screams that this restaurant does a good job of serving the main demographic in the neighborhood = white peoples. That said, it was really tasty. The agedashi tofu itself was pretty good, but instead of coming in a broth, it came in a thick brown sauce. Tasty, but weird and too much flavor. I know, that sounds weird, but that dish is usually much more delicate in flavor. The staff was so nice, and the ramen tasty enough, that we will likely go back. But we will be very selective with what we order.

I am already a fan of Osaka and Barcode 1758 was opened by the same owners so I had high expectation and they were definitely met! I like the decor and the bar area. It feels a bit higher end than Osaka. They also have a great patio for sunny days. I can't wait to sip cocktails outside this summer. The drink list is unique and the beer is cold and inexpensive. On Sunday they had $1.50 domestic cans.Perfect for chasing my hot sake. :) I had the steamed shrimp rolls to start and they were light and delicious. Next, I went with the cucumber salad. Great flavor and a huge portion. For dinner, I tried the fire dragon roll because i dig spicy sauce on my sushi. Loved it! So fresh and the sauce was fantastic. The menu offers a wide array of skewers, dumplings, salads, soups and sushi. There is a lot more to try so I plan on returning soon.

After running around in Louisville all day, we found ourselves hungry at 9:30pm on a Sunday. Oh no! Luckily, this place is open until midnight. We're so glad we found it! We sat outside, so the ambiance was perfect with the festive lights at the restaurant and across the street and nice music playing. We had miso soup, the kimchi roll, yellowtail roll, avocado roll, and the love tuna roll. It was all fantastic! The rice was great, which is an important part of tasty sushi. Our server was lovely. I didn't catch her name, but she was very attentive and pleasant. We'll definitely visit this place again next time we're in town.

We are huge fans of Osaka - so when we heard about Barcode, we were pretty eager to check it out. My mom purchased a groupon and handed it over to my partner and I as a gift. We walked in, a little after 5pm on a Sunday. It was dark and empty - but with updated decor. Still - very dark, and were quiet. The food was good - but there were lots of little things that were a little offsetting. We were the only people there for the first 5-10 minutes. As we were walked to our table, I noticed that the sushi bar was still wrapped up, in plastic - not well lit, no chef ready to go - just sitting there. Being the only people in the restaurant, I felt like the waiter was hovering a bit. There was a candle on the table - but he didn't light it when we were seated. We asked for a minute to look over the menu and he disappeared - literally -- going somewhere else in the restaurant-- we were the only people in the entire dining room. When He came back, we ordered a soup - which he cleared without asking if we were finished (we weren't). We ordered 4 sushi rolls and a tofu skewer platter. Shortly after, he came back to the table to tell us they were out of spinach .. So they couldn't make the spinach roll. We ordered a veggie roll to take its place. When the sushi came out, he just sat it down -- didn't tell us what any of the rolls were. During dinner, 3 more couples and a single man filtered in. Even with more people, the restaurant was awkwardly quiet - almost like you had to whisper to have a private conversation. I'm sure the waiter was just trying to be attentive - but it felt like he was staring at us while we ate. I also noticed that he had one end of his earbuds plugged into his right ear when we came to the table. I thought that was a little unprofessional-- you're at work, you should be talking on the phone or listening to music -- especially when you come to the table. When the server brought the bill, I pulled up the groupon - he left the table for about 3 minutes - with my phone. I didn't care for that. I thought he should have written down the number, or at least ask me if it was ok for him to take my phone to the counter. The ambience was awkward, but, the food was quite delicious. Even the "cheap" veggie and sweet potato rolls -- very flavorful and nicely played. The menu featured some of the same rolls as Osaka - but we wanted to try something different. (I can't find the menu online, and the server didn't introduce the rolls -- so I can't remember the names of what we ordered). The food definitely saved the experience. I thought the prices were reasonable and the portions were decent. I'd maybe do carry out in the future, I didn't love the dine in experience. Maybe going on a Friday or Saturday would have been different. 3 stars for experience overall. 5 if only judging food.

This was a great new addition to the local sushi scene. Came on Thanksgiving Eve and there was hardly anyone there so we didn't have to wait very long. I was impressed by the draft beer selection. Usually, in sushi bars it's bottle only. The volcano roll was my favorite, but all the rolls were very tasty and fresh.

My first visit here happened after the restaurant across the street had too long of a wait. We saw people sitting on the patio, so we decided why the hell not. Im glad we did because now we have a new neighborhood restaurant to go to. They have an amazing large covered patio. It is the perfect place to people watch and enjoy a nice summer day without melting from the sun. They have a very large drink menu. Beers, wines, sake, and hard cocktails. All the drinks are pretty reasonable. I also saw that they have happy hour M-Th 4-6:30 that is $1 domestics, 1/2 drafts, and some discounted appetizers. And the food didnt disappoint. As a vegetarian, I cant speak for any of the raw rolls. But everything I have tried has been fresh, crispy, and reasonably priced. My favorite roll is the sweet potato. It doesnt say it on the menu, but it is tempura battered sweet potato with avocado. Its so awesome. The rolls get out fast. Usually the sushi beats the kitchen. The skewers we have tried have all been great. My favorites are the tofu, Korean rice cake, and mushroom. They are grilled and seasoned and usually come with a sauce drizzled on top. We tried the veggie udon the first time we came, but I wouldnt get it again. The noodles were a little slimy and it was super mushroom heavy. The service has been pretty great most nights. Sometimes it can be a bit choppy with the kitchen and sushi timing being off with what you had hoped. But the price and taste is right. They even have given us a punch card (7th visit get 25% off entire bill). I know Ill be filling the punch card up quick!

Found this place by chance. Best sushi I've had in years. Great beer list as well. The regular non sushi menu looked amazing as well. Try that next time. And i will be back.

Had dinner here recently with a couple friends and it was pretty good. The sushi was very comparable to a few other places in town. Drinks were good.

Cool atmosphere and great patio...only had one dish, the seafood ramen, it was good but I could tell it was an instant package with some extra love. Great place for a drink and snack if you're in the area, but definitely nothing to go out of your way for. The prices are decent and be menu is pretty diverse (mostly Asian).

God, I really hate to completely dump on this place but it was just a total waste of money. The staff was nice and somewhat prompt but they had no chance of making up for the food. I had the beef ramen which was horrible. The beef was overcooked, dry, and tough. I am almost positive that the noodles came from a TopRamen container. The broth tasted like hot water mixed with hotwing sauce. The price was decent for ramen ($10) but ridiculous for the quality. I also had a gin and tonic with dirt gin (barton's) which came out to 6 bucks! I can only hope for these guys that the rest of their menu is great. Whatever you do, skip the ramen and pregame before visiting.

Damn! I Really like the food here! But the service is just terrible!!!! Food was served to my party randomly. Waiter forgot multiple items from our order. Said that we never ordered them! Was blaming the kitchen for the bad service. Never once did our waiter ask us if we needed anything! The missing food, the drink refills or even how the food tasted! I really would not recommend this place for dinning in, maybe carry out and hopefully they don't mess that up! We got here at 8:45pm! I just got back onto yelp to edit this review to say we are still here waiting on our bills! It is 11:36pm we did not plan on staying here for almost 3 hours !

I have since revised my original review. The sushi is fantastic and the yakitori also is insane. YOU WANT THE QUAIL EGG SKEWERS IN YOUR MOUTH RIGHT NOW. This is one of the best deals on food in town if you stick to the skewers. Cocktails are also fantastic.

Tried this place out after hearing about it on a local TV show. I'm not a fan of sushi, but they also have ramen and udon dishes. The place was clean and the staff nice. However, they are a little unorganized and don't know much about the ingredients if you ask a question. I tried the beef ramen which was good, but at $10 it was very pricey. Frankly, I can make that at home for about a dollar. My partner had several types of sushi which he says was all very good. Watch out. By the time you order two or three dishes, the bill ends up to be bigger than you expect. They do have a full bar and an excellent outdoor patio. Our sake cocktails were superb. We also had the cucumber salad. This was tops in my book. The croquette was a mooshy hushpuppy like substance...tasted great but the texture off-putting. I would definitely go back for a cocktail or happy hour.

The menu is diverse but the service was lackluster all 3 visits I made. Food was good but it took forever and there are no kids options. They do have a nice patio though.

Service was very fast, especially because we were one of five tables on the deck and only had one waiter. Had the calamari appetizer, sushi, salad and pot stickers. Pot stickers were flavorless and seemed like they came out of a freezer, calamari was okay. Nothing really exciting or notable about the restaurant minus the live music spilling out louder than what I wanted.

Visited today with a Groupon that was about to expire with my aunt. I always like to try different sushi places. I really enjoyed this place. The atmosphere is good with a nice patio for outdoor dining. The food offerings were just enough without being overwhelming. Lots of different appetizers to choose from. We had the Fire Fire app which was spicy crab with a shrimp tempura wrapped in an egg roll wrapper and fried. That was very tasty. We also ordered 6 rolls and all were great. I would definitely make a return visit.

My friend and I stopped by here on a saturday night for some drinks - they have a surprisingly large selection of beers and liquors for being a seemingly hole-in-the-wall restaurant. Their sake cocktails are amazing. We weren't planning on eating anything, but we saw our waiter bringing a plate of the skewers and other beautiful things to a table near us - I definitely had to try some. We put in an order for appetizers - pork gyoza and shrimp shumai - and our main course - chicken katsu don and a skewer combo. The appetizers came out in about five minutes, which was nice considering they were pretty busy. All I have to say about the appetizers is that they were delicious and we ate them way too quickly. Our main courses came out about ten minutes later. The chicken katsu is the best I've ever had at any japanese restaurant in Louisville. It comes cooked in an omelette with a gravy sauce over a bed of steamed rice. Eating this and the skewers - satay-style grilled chicken, steak, asparagus wrapped in bacon and with a side of fried rice - was a semi sexual experience for my mouth. In short, barcode has a casual but chic atmosphere that's conducive to a full dining experience or just having a few drinks. The service was quick and friendly, even when the place (which is not very big, mind you) was completely packed. The restaurant was clean and sharp. The sushi bar looked well stocked and professionally kept - having worked in sub par sushi bars, I can tell the difference. I will definitely be back, especially for their happy hour specials during the week.

I eat here frequently. Service is great. Go for the sushi and skewers. My favorite rolls are the Kiss Me Roll with jalapeños and siracha on top and the Double Spicy Roll. Also, the seaweed salads are terrific. Plenty of vegetarian options as well!

Ramen and dumplings are very good. Clean space inside, but mine was to go. Great patio for better weather. Liked this better than other new Ramen places in town, better flavor and more substantial. Recommended

Outside seating area is very nice when not too hot. Service was fast and friendly. We ate light tonight (small salad, edimame, spider roll). The food was delicious. We also had the cocktail with sake, lime juice and lime. Very refreshing. This was my second visit and I intend to go back again.

Glad we got a chance to eat here. The service was good and food was too. We had a pretty good sample of food. The "calamari pop " was some of the most unique and tasty calamari I have ever had. The devil roll was fantastic. Then we also had quail egg, spicy pork, tofu and mushroom skewers. All were good but the calamari and devil roll out shined them in my opinion. Also the atmosphere was very modern in style and i found the lighting very pleasant. The only reason I did not give them 5 stars was because of price. It's not a cheap meal, but on the other hand it's not cheapie food ether.

I try to give local startups a chance, even more than a fair chance. Unfortunately there was nothing redeeming about the meal which came to $60 after tip. We tried a little of everything, starting with crab cake and kani su. Crab cake was one of the worst I have had, it said pan fried, but seemed to almost be deep fried. The inside was mushy and flavorless, just overall not much to talk about we had a few bites and moved on. Kani su was not much better. Fresher and lighter it had potential but just missed on the flavor. Might as well have been just cucumber. Miso soups were up to par, hot and good flavor equal to any other sushi place. We tried the chicken.steak, shrimp skewers. Each was like $3 you get two skewers, probably 4 shrimp per skewer, three pieces of chicken and steak. Shrimp overcooked so kind of tough, steak not flavored at all it seemed, and chicken was supposed to be breast but was more like thighs to us. All three missed the mark on flavor, we got spicy, it was barely spicy and not much real flavor other than that really. Rolls were zack roll and pretty woman. Neither were bad, probably best things we ordered. All in all rolls were average at best, rest of meal left a lot to be desired. Still rooting for the business, it's early so take a good look at the products coming out of the kitchen. I doubt I will return anytime soon, hoping food quality changes. Maybe in a few months we would stop for a snack and see where they are then. Nice outdoor seating which will be utilized by the hipsters and hopefully keep them going

Uneven cut rolls...pet peeve. Great calamari pop. Very friendly service. Nigiri salmon not as fresh as should be and not worth the price. Good flavor but not Maido flavor and yes I know it's the Osaka family. Great modern remodel inside but then like lap top bag and just random junk hanging out at the end of the bar. We liked but certainly not loved.

Nice decor and outdoor seems good but the food is not so great. One of the server messed up my order and didn't get my main dish. I got caterpillar roll and 2 skewers and ended up with $20 without tip. I wouldn't recommend it

The decor was great and very contemporary and the sushi was great but the waitstaff seemed a bit disorganized and the hostess was out waitress. May have been short staffed.

I was hoping for a good ramen place in town and what i got was a bowl of hot water and a plastic package of noodles. They should be ashamed to sell what i can make at home in 5 mins. :( This is a great location and everyone seems to screw it up!
