Alright. I'm a bit sad about this place now, and I feel the need to update my review.... We went back for another round of takeout, and this time my food was barely edible. Don't get the fried rice with your bento box, my dear yelpers. It's literally fried rice: Oily rice without anything else added is not very appetizing. The sesame seed chicken was chewy and hard, kind of like it was microwaved. My salad was steam wilted in the styrofoam box. My husband ordered beef this time, and he was also underwhelmed. The spring roll was still pretty good. So sad....

Fusion done fast, fresh and on the cheap. Asian Bento Express is located across from the busy hospital cluster on Dutchmans. It is part of the same building that is Senor Iguana's; but it is a completely separate operation with its own entrance. The interior is small, with seating for about only about a dozen people. I'm sure it does a lot of carryout business considering where it is located. The bento combos come with the main item + fried rice + egg roll + green salad. For an extra 50 cent, you can sub edamame, seaweed salad or crab salad. Their prices are pretty cheap: about $6 for lunch and only about $7 for dinner. You can find all of the standard Chinese, Japanese (hibachi, no sushi) and Thai items on the menu. I saw that they have udon and could not resist ordering it on this chilly day. My order of beef udon came out fast and hot! The big bowl was full of chewy udon noodles, veggies and small threads of beef. While I enjoyed most of the ingredients, I thought the broth was too sweet for a Japanese dish. But this is an Asian fusion place so my expectation is not high. The prices are more than fair. I will be glad to return to try other items.

I visit this place 1-2x a week. Its clean, they are so friendly (unlike their competition that practically yells at you when you order take out via phone), the food is reasonably priced, and tasty. I appreciate that they offer steamed options with sauce on the side, and tofu substitutions also.

This was an interesting place to review, while I am NOT giving it 5 Stars saying its the "BEST FOOD OF ALL TIME," I can say, this is one of the best places for quick food that is delicious AND cheap. After a long day at work/school, this is my favorite place to call on the drive home. I know that the order will be ready and hot, within 10 mins of placing the call. The food is MSG free, quality meat, AND super cheap. I love TJ's frozen curry, but this place has a lunch Special of Red Curry, WITH rice, egg roll, and salad for the same price! And it tastes great! Not sure how they do it but it has become one of my favorite places for a quick and easy meal

This was OK, but nothing to rave about. I am always trying to find Asian food around Louisville, but this was not a good experience, food was average, but this I believe is a restaurant where you need to know what to order. Someone told me the noodle soup is the only wonderful thing about this place.

Apparently this restaurant is out of business. I went past it the other day and there's is a new sign out front with a different Asian restaurant name and signs on the door. When I got home & called the phone number I had for it, a recording said that the business would be opening middle of June. Too bad, I really liked it!

I have been curious about Asian Bento Express, and came here for dinner. It is a very small place with two tables and an eating counter. The restaurant is very plain, and there has been no real attempt to decorate. The menu offers a wide variety of Chinese, Japanese and Thai entrees, all priced around $6 for lunch or $8 for dinner. The service was efficient, if not particularly enthusiastic. I ordered General Tso's Chicken Bento ($6.15 at lunch: $7.85 at dinner), which also came with fried rice, egg roll and green salad. The chicken was freshly made and tasty, but with zero spice (although it was displayed with a "spicy" chili pepper on the menu. The Fried Rice tasted fine, but was very plain. There were no vegetables not egg, so it was basically rice with a little soy sauce stirred in. The egg roll and salad were good. In summary, Asian Bento Express was good, not great, and a decent value at the $8 price for dinner.

Excellent quality for the price. I also like that all bento combos come with green salad in addition to rice and egg roll. My favorite thing, though, was being able to sub in seaweed salad, spicy crab salad, or edamame for the usual sides of rice, egg roll, and green salad for just 50 cents per subbed item. They were very nice, to boot, and the health grade is an A. I look forward to trying a pad thai or curry lunch bento next time!

I went there on a whim because I had passed it many times wondering if their food was decent - which it was not. Goopy and doughy crab ran goon, lifeless egg roll, and perhaps the worst Pad Thai I have ever had. Another oriental restaurant that had no roots, thinking China = Japan = Thailand. The only thing good is that I didn't have to pay much. So if you find yourself with only $6, at least you can get a full tummy until your next paycheck.

It is what it is. If you want your generic asian cuisine, this is your place. Don't expect anything more than that. You do get a generic ginger dressing salad in the Bento box which would be nice if it didn't mingle with your hot food and become soggy. Hot food that is put in so hot sometimes it burns the styrofoam. The Pad Thai was an unfortunate adventure off the traditional list. It actually tasted like nothing!

Ok noodles not bad but not the best good taste, now the spring roll was 5 hot tasty rolls of yum yummy, could have ate 5 more the dressing on the salad was very tasty and could have devoured a huge bowl, or maybe just drank the dressing.

We ate here for lunch on Sunday and it's definetly a place we will go back to. I had the hibachi chicken which came with fried rice, veggies, and miso soup. The serving was large and the chicken and veggies were very flavorful. For only 5.95, I was very impressed. The dinner serving is under $8. My husband got chicken pad thai which came with fried rice, an egg roll and salad with ginger dressing. It was also under $6. My husband thought the Pad Thai could be spicier, but thought it was good none the less. This place will definitely be making our two-can-dine-for-under $20 list.

Great bento boxes at great prices. Fast service. Has quickly become my go to meal choice when I am in the Dutchmans Lane area, such as catching a movie at Village 8.

AMAZING. they've only been open for about two months and I was disappointed to not see more people in here. The food was DELICIOUS (and MSG free, which is an excitotoxin found in most fast Chinese restaurants, it gives me a massive migraine!). The food is so cheap too, you can get a massive dinner for $8. If you love Chinese and high quality, come here!

For some tasty hibachi in a hurry, this is the spot. The wife and I stumbled onto this place while visiting Louisville and I'm glad we found it! Don't be put off by the minimalist decor -- the food is terrific.
