Not a bad place by any means and the staff was very friendly. The food... just ok. It was a sandwich like I could have made at home. But, I will say, it was cheap for lunch downtown. Only $4 for a sandwhich isn't bad at all. All in all I would go back for the sake of taking a walk (4 blocks from my work) and saving some money.

What do you do when you are traveling with exchange students and have to find a place for lunch? Stop at a friendly place like this! It takes time to read a menu and translate and explain various foods to foreign students. The people here are kind, friendly, and patient. There are many regulars who eat there and are addressed by name as they come in. Food is good American deli food. Nice fresh made sandwiches. Our students really enjoyed the split jumbo hotdogs stuffed with sauerkraut. I had a nice Reuben, and my wife got the "Piled High." Sandwiches are not as big as a New York Deli, but fair priced. Definitely will stop by again the next time we visit the Louisville Slugger Factory and Museum.

We stumbled upon this place looking for a place for lunch. I had the chili dog. My wife had the Chicken Salad with a side of potato salad. The Potato salad was TOP NOTCH. The Chicken Salad was good. The Chili Dog was good. Nice little place to grab a bite to eat and had great options and prices. Would definitely go back

Ehhh. Maybe I missed something, but this is the most unimpressed I have been in a long time with trying a new place. My husband and I picked this place for a quick lunch based on Yelp reviews and it was nearby. I won't hold the fact that this place is empty against them since there was a nearby street festival going on that may have affected their flow that day. We walked in, cute little non-fancy place. We both love sandwiches so we were excited. I ordered the Derby Club and my husband got the Ruben. He got some of their potato salad but I opted for chips. Here is where things went downhill. The sandwiches...mine was....the most boring thing I have ever ordered, so disappointing. It was literally a sandwich I could make at home and wasn't even all that good. The qualify of the meats was nothing special and the bread was not good. I was so bummed. My husband's ruben looked better but even he was not overly impressed, same with the potato salad. Thankfully, the meal was cheap or I would have been upset. I guess this could appeal to people who work nearby and need a fast lunch and are too lazy to simply make a sandwich at home? Sigh. Also, they have a sing that boasts they have been in business 30 years, 20 years at that location. Why aren't there more reviews?

Very friendly and nice staff, love the shop itself but I don't think I'll be coming back. Not very big portions, potato salad taste like just flat pickles and it's kind of grungy and dim lighting. Not a lot of toppings for sandwiches. Not to impressed.

Good sandwich! I ordered the derby club and I like the way that they toast your salami and make it crispy.

Hard to beat their Reuben and Burgoo. This place may not be the best on the eyes, but they make a mean sandwich and soups. Everyday has a special, but always have soups. The sandwiches are all made while you wait, kind of like Subway, but better.

Stopped in for lunch. This is a great little sandwich place. I love the atmosphere. The food was great and filing. The flavors were awesome. Best part was the prices. Can't be beat for what you get. I'm coming back!

For those looking for quiet lunchtime solitude with free wifi, let me recommend Another Place. One of the main draws for me is the ample space without all the loud music you might find in other places. Foodwise they offer a good lunch menu, which includes hotdogs, which seem to be popular, Reubens, and an array of other sandwiches and daily soup options. Recently my usual has been the Derby Club sandwich. It comes on a roll or on wheat, with turkey, cheese, and salami. The thing is that they fry the salami till it reaches a bacon-like crispness. This added crunch makes the sandwich. The chili is good, and I usually pick up a cup along with a sandwich. Their burgoo is also good, although there have been times I thought someone went heavy on the salt.

So... my office is a hop, skip and a jump away from this sandwich shop. Otherwise it might be another sandwich shop. But I've got to say, I'm happy this is the one I got. It is somehow a pretty well kept secret. There are always people there (because it's good food), but there are never more than a couple of them in front of me in line. I dig that in a work lunch spot. Many of their sammiches and such are hot and tasty off the griddle. You can get a multitude of sizes, so feel free to check out 2 mini subs for a mini price. Grab a breakfast muffin or piece of fruit for a side. Never hit 10 bucks. That spells win for me. Well, not literally, but you know what I mean. In a hurry, grab a bite here. Between this and Main St Eatery, you'll be well taken care of downtown.

As other people have stated its serviceable food but nothing to write home about. The chicken salad is ok... The fresh fruit was the highlight. The mix at the time of eating was grapes, melon and pineapple. The quality and portion size could be better. The staff is friendly.

My wife and I were in Louisville (from Virginia) to check out a famous bat making place and decided to grab some lunch. We were walking down main street and saw a sign for Another Place. I am glad we did. This place was super cool. I ordered The Derby Club. The fried salami is something to talk about. It was great! I also got a side of the potato salad. I could have eaten a ton of it. It was a horseradish based salad. Wow it was good! The staff was very friendly and I will go back there when we visit again!

My significant otter and I were enjoying a Saturday of museum hopping in Louisville and realized we were both really hungry as we hadn't eaten breakfast. He remembered seeing a sign from our hotel (21C) for this little sandwich shop and suggested we see if they were open. Their menu looked straightforward and we each ordered sandwiches (they also offer hot dogs and salads). The woman who took our order was friendly (I gotta say, Louisville, everyone we met on this trip was an excellent ambassador of your city) and suggested the otter try a "Derby" sandwich as he was indecisive. I like the atmosphere in the place. Booths divided under canopy-like structures. We each got sodas and a bag of chips to round out our meal. I was pleasantly surprised to find the bread was toasted. I got the roast beast and it was delicious. It tasted more like pot roast. The otter liked his Derby sandwich. If you are touring any of the nearby museums, go here for lunch.

Hey guy who just toured the Louisville Slugger factory and your three kids are whining about wanting a sandwich and dragging their feet and smacking each other with their whacking sticks. Don't settle for the Subway across the street. Another Place is around the corner and is mighty decent. Plenty of pretty good hot or cold sandwiches for about $4-5. Fast service, cafeteria-style. Friendly service. Free wireless. Different soups daily, salads, and sides beyond bagged chips or fries. Strictly speaking, there's nothing memorable. But there are no regrets here either, and for the location it's a nice option for anyone wanting a quick bite.

This is a great little spot to grab a good sandwich, cup of soup, salad, or all of the above if you're really hungry. I've visited several times, and each time I've tried something different. White chili, cheesy potato soup, the skater (turkey and roast beef sandwich), and the chocolate chip cookies. The first time I visited I was a little intimidated by the gigantic chalkboard menu, but luckily I was able to find my way to the good stuff! If you work anywhere near 7th and Main, it's a great place to walk over to and grab a quick bite. The service is always excellent and I've never had to wait in line more than 5 minutes or so.

This place is close to the Louisville Slugger Museum yet it doesn't scream tourist. Actually, I think only my group and one other couple were tourists; the other patrons seemed to be local and on their lunch break. The food is good and reasonably priced (I think? Not sure because I cannot compare to other Louisville sandwich shops). The seating is weird at first but it's quick to figure out. There's more upstairs, where we sat, that's quiet and private. The staff, knowing we were from out of town, were amused and a little prideful but it was all in good fun. They made suggestions and took their time with explanations. It's a small-ish little restaurant but it's very comfortable once you get the feel of it. If you're waiting for the next Museum tour to start, grab a bite here. You won't regret it.

EVERYTIME I go I will get the corned beef sandwich it's very good for 5$ and the ladies that work there are so nice. A real home feel.

This is a fast lunch spot with tasty sandwiches and soups. We ate here after taking a tour of the Louisville Slugger factory which is nearby. I had the crab salad sandwich and a cup of burgoo and my husband had the reuben (along with 2 drinks the total was $16) and everything tasted good. You get your food quickly and there is lots of seating if you don't mind going up or down stairs.

Tasty sandwiches made right, 3-4 soups everyday that are gourmet style and almost a meal themselves. Quality ingredients throughout- shaved ham, sharp chedder not processed kraft, plenty of spices in the soups. I usually make it out of here for $6-8 for a sandwich and a soup which make a filling workday lunch.

Another Place is a great place to go to grab lunch downtown especially if you're tired of all of the other fast food options that downtown offers. Another Place offers a wide variety of sandwiches, an assortment of soups that change daily, and hot dogs for a reasonable price (sandwich, side, and a drink normally sets me back $6-8). My favorite thing to get there is a bowl of burgoo (only served on Thursdays and Fridays). I know this sounds cliche and I wish there was a different phrase that I could use, but this is by far the burgoo I have ever had. My week is not complete unless I have had a bowl of Another Place's burgoo. Another Place's has a fabulous assortment of sandwiches that are made fresh to order. Some of my favorites are the derby club, the piled high, the pastrami, and the ruben. The atmosphere at a Another Place is very eclectic and a nice escape from your workday. My one and only complaint about Another Place is that they do not accept credit card. This is not a big deal, you just have to make for sure you have cash. Edit 2/17/11: Another Place now accepts credit cards.

The people working here were pretty nice so I don't want to be too harsh, but if you are going to operate a sandwich shop, I would hope you can make a better sandwich than I can make at home with Wal-Mart ingredients. Another place used middle-quality sliced bread, kraft mayo, and turkey breast that was almost certainly bought at the supermarket (I'm not talking about Boars Head quality either...very average stuff). The price was decent ($4.99 or so), but this was literally the sandwich that I would make for myself before school in ninth grade. I would not go to Another Place again.
