Pretty decent Mexican food. Apparently they've been through a few different owners, so things have been inconsistent in the past. It seems as though they're settling in quite nicely now. Good food, decent prices, however the service sometimes is less than desired. A couple of my personal favorites is the Pechuga Mexicana: a thin butterflied and grilled chicken breast with peppers, tomatoes, onions, mushrooms, and molten cheese. Served with refried beans, Mexican rice and tortillas. The other is their Burrito Verde, which are two burritos (your choice of meat) smothered in their salsa verde and cheese. Also served with rice and beans. The rice and beans are hit and miss. Sometimes they're bland and forgettable, othertimes they're quite good. Some inconsistency in the food is tell-tale of cooks being a bit lax in the kitchen. Their head chef/cook may need to crack the whip a bit. But generally it's not too drastic. Decent food, good portions (often taking leftovers home), decent prices. I gave them 4 stars instead of three because when they're off, it's still pretty okay, but when they're on, they're awesome.

I like fresh, hot (and spicy) Mexican food. This little place always delivers. The fiesta fajitas are very good full of flavor. Service is great and the place is always clean.

This place just got renamed (and new menus). I had been there a few times before the place changed its name, and had always though the salsa was really weak. Usually I would doctor the salsa with the hot sauce that they had on the tables. This last time the hot sauce was missing from the table, so I asked the waiter if we could have some hot sauce, the hot stuff. He came back with two condiment cups, one red and one green. After a brief Matrix like moment, I decided to take both pills, err, I mean sauces. The red was really thick, so I mixed it with the salsa for the chips. This was an instant improvement and made this one of the best salsas I've had. I highly recommend asking for the hot sauce and using it in the salsa. As for the green tomatillo based sauce, it was wonderful on my dinner. I will definitely be going back to this place after learning about the sauce!

My family and I love La Fuente!!! Never had a bad food experience and you get a lot of food for the price! The queso is amazing as well and I love cheese so you can trust my opinion when it comes to that. Indoor and outdoor seating, plus TV's for watching sports events make this place even better!!! If you like authentic Mexican food at a great value, La Fuente is the place to go!

Decide to check this place out instead of going to Rio Grande in Newport. Run...do not walk...to a different Mexican restaurant. At 6:30pm on a Saturday, five tables were seated. That should have been my first clue. Service was EXTREMELY slow, food quality was mediocre at best, and portion size was insulting. You know how a restaurant takes the food cost and multiplies by 3 to get the menu price? Yeah... the Chili Colorado (served as a child size portion) should have been priced at $.4.50 and not $11.99 and the Fajitas should be about $7.00. The Chicken Chimichangas (ya get two) were the size of egg rolls, the refried beans were watered down and very pale and tasteless, and the add-ons consisted of a small handful of lettuce, a teaspoon of sour cream, and a single slice of a small roma tomato. I think this "fuente" will dry up very soon!

I have eaten here several times and the service is fast, servers are friendly and I like the food. Not too big a portion that you are over filled, especially at lunch. I do think the salsa is a bit weak. Prices are very reasonable.

Absolutely awful & over priced. Go south & hit up El toro if you want authentic Mexican food, good food, & excellent service. We won't be back.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
