.I tried the steak for the first time today and it was so good. I was greeted as soon as I walked in and of course was told to have a nice day when I left. The food was hot and made just the way I asked. Friendly customer service is hard to come by and I felt good when I walked in and good when I left. I would recommend this restaurant and location to everyone

We are living a Heart Healthy Lifestyle now - so finding approved foods has been a challenge. We have slowly been researching restaurants and their nutrition list to see where we can go and what we can have. So for lunch we found Quizno's had a few items. I tried the Honey Bourbon Chicken and wow it was wonderful and filling. If you are looking for low sat fat, low cholesterol, and low sodium but high taste - choose this:)

Gold Star Chili

7563 Mall Rd
Florence, 41042
Reviews:
Chili reviews... any part of the country, you're looking for a fight. CINCINNATI chili reviews? Definitely a fight. Followed up with ice cream.... and an awkward backslap hug... with something like "geez la pete, I thought you were going to say something about the Reds & the Virgin Mary while you were at it" Since we're in questionable waters already, let's go ahead & wade into Cincinnati chili with hip boots, oyster crackers, and a pull of courage. What makes the chili what it is? Did you know there are blogs exploring this local phenomenon, whose reviews are routinely pirated by national food media? They apparently have to - besides the 250+ alleged parlors in the metro area, there are close to 40 distinct brands. Who could get a grasp on this local institution under a tight deadline? Moreover, what local could write a clean review w/o obvious favoritism to their home base? I don't know the answer - by the ghost of Nicholas Lambrinides, I wish I did. But since you want someone's opinion... I've tried enough food I've lived in enough places I've had my wife throw my shoes at maitre ds (true story) So what I'm saying... is I'm qualified. Spices - Gold star hits it. Definitely more of whatever it is. Allspice? I have no clue, being a newb to the area, but I am an experienced foodie/loudmouth and I've tried at least a dozen varieties since I moved here. This has the boldest flavor of them all. ambiance? ergh... I'm not sure how to rate this. From what I've read, Character of a chili parlor weighs heavily into nostalgia factor - if my formica is bigger than yours. Goldstar unfortunately does little to differentiate themselves besides the recipe, but what else do they need to do stay un-current? Add fully-integrated smoking sections? Add fully-integrated digestive issues like a place rhyming with rilly rime? Mountains of cheese? They all have it - I love cheese in any form or fashion, and besides the (very) marginal edge Skyline gets for the (marginally) habenero cheese, they're all the same. Call it a draw regardless of parlor. ok, so to the important stuff - what do I order? 3 star? 4 star? double-secret-star? Just go 4-star with onions. Beans belong on chili if you also believe Hagar belongs on a Beatles reunion. Otherwise you're good to go - meaty, couple choices in hot sauces, and little grease/wateriness like you'll find at other stops on the chili train. Hey - I'm digging this Cinci tradition, whether calling it "Cinci" just made me some guy from out of town. It's delicious and fun - my kids love it, and it's just one of the many things this town pours it's heart into - like their sports teams, schools, and ice cream.... latter is irrationally irrational, but I'll hit that later. If you read this trying to choose between this place & Skyline b/c you're at a hotel and the masseuse will be there in an hour - you're actually fine whichever one you go to. They're both quick - we're talking faster-than-mexican-food-fast. I'm partially kidding - flip a coin on which part. Overall - Nod to Goldstar. Skyline is still very good & I hit the latter due to convenience to where I live. The important thing about Cincinnati Chili is to try it twice. Probably thrice. And keep an open mind I'm actually a Texas chili boy. This isn't Chili... but it's a greek-based treat you surely won't forget... and an obscure culinary delight you'll relay like a town crier wherever you live, for years to come.
There are few things that are institutions of a city. Cincinnati has the Reds, the Bengals, Graeter's, LaRosa's, and Montgomery Inn. But none of these elicit such an emotional, and varied, response as our Cincinnati-style chili, mostly because there's no debate about those traditions. Not so with our chili, because you've got so many to choose from. With that said, today's review focuses on Gold Star, and on the Mall Road location in Florence (not to be confused with the one that's actually INSIDE Florence Mall). Accessibility: Not the best. There's a ramp, but it's steep. I struggle with it and I'm a healthy 28 year old. Someone with a motorized wheelchair or scooter should have no problem though. I'll let that slide. Everything else to do with that is OK. Price: Not expensive at all really. I can enjoy a meal of two coneys, fries and a drink for about $8. Food itself: I do like my chili and I'm not extremely picky about where I get it, but maybe I should be. This is SERIOUSLY good chili. They had a limited time offer on an Oktoberfest Coney which was a brat topped with sauerkraut, chili, cheese and brown mustard. Mmmmmm. Good stuff! Bring this back every year. Why didn't Skyline do this? Staff: Friendly, courteous, quick. Great people. Overall, Gold Star Mall Road gets a 5/5. Can't wait for Oktoberfest time next year to get another Oktoberfest Coney.
Gold Star Chili is 4 star food, but this location is 5 star. It nice that you get fast food at fast food prices but they that it like a regular restaurant. The service here is great, fast, and friendly.

Bruster’s Real Ice Cream

8529 Highway 42
Florence, 41042
Reviews:
Believe the hype from the other reviews. Brusters' ice cream is the bomb dot com, and so is their service. We went tonight after getting an email about trying their new Hot Apple Dumpling. Sadly, we were told that they ran out (of 6 cases!). I really had my heart set on it so I asked for an alternate recommendation. She gave me a BIG sample taste of some not on the menu caramel apple ice cream and it was outstanding. Even better, she told me that since it was raining I could get a second scoop free! Whenever it rains or snows, that's the deal. Another tip: go to their website and sign up for their email club to get coupons. They have a drive thru and a walk-up window. Very old-timey. It's so nice to sit on the benches or tables out front enjoying your treat of choice. I call this stretch of US 42 'ice cream row' because there's also a UDF, Graeter's, Dairy Queen, and Baskin Robbins within a mile. Pass all those by and go to Brusters instead, you won't regret it.
We have been steady customers for years. Daughter loves the Dino sundae and when we had our dog they used to give her a treat when we went. Great service and fantastic for families.
Great Ice Cream at an inexpensive price. A few tips: Go for Ice Cream - it is hot outside Don't eat it oustide because it is hot outside 1 Scoop = equals 2 Scoops at Baskin Robbins. Ask for extra napkins Give their unique flavors a try. I recently had the Key Lime pie - and it was really yummy - I liked the graham cracker crust addition to the Key Lime Ice Cream. I save my 5 star ratings for some of the local creameries (such as Jeni's in Columbus)... Overall it is very good and I will go there often.

La Hiro Sushi and Sweets

8645 William Haines Dr,Ste F
Florence, 41042
Reviews:
Best sushi in NKY and greater Cincinnati area! sushi is so fresh it melts in your mouth. The owners are fantastic. Been a few times and the owners remembered us and our order. Very authentic and clean place to have the best sushi!
Top quality and supremely fresh. Well worth the higher prices for those with discernible palates. The food is made to highlight natural flavors-delicate, natural, and mouth watering. Don't compare La Hiro's to 1/2 sushi (still love you 1/2 sushi!)-it'd be comparing apples to oranges.
La Hiro is located right near the Sakura Japanese Grocery store over in Florence. It's quite a bit of a drive, but we stopped by when I came back to town from my flight into CVG. I assumed that this place specialized in sweets since it's in the name, and so I was determined to try something out. We came in around 2:30 PM and they still had the lunch menu available, so that was a relief since usually dinner is expensive, though I'm not super knowledgeable about their menu or the differences to say the least. Generally, their dishes aren't too terribly expensive. I ordered a Tonkatsu and the SO ordered sashimi. The tonkatsu was about the size of my palm, came with sauce and a mini salad. All of it came with miso and salad. The SO's sashimi came with 3 pieces of each fish and also came with miso and salad. Just the way that my dish was presented, you could tell there was something a little bit different. The owners take a lot of time 'designing' and plating their dishes. You could really see and taste the 'homemade' love with an inkling of elegance. While the portions aren't excessive, and the prices might not be completely on point (speaking specifically to non-main kind of entrees), you are eating a meal made with a lot of heart. This is really the first time I've experienced this. The whole place bleeds of heart and you can tell that it's a restaurant where the owners had dreamed of opening it, where the husband wants to serve fresh fish, and the wife wants to make delicious and beautiful desserts. I was bummed that they didn't have the green tea cake, and even though it was late by bakery standards, they had many cakes and sweets still available. It doesn't seem like all of them are on the menu, so you I'm assuming she's always experimenting with new techniques and flavors. I opted for a raw cheesecake with a jello top with cherry blossoms, or sakura, imbedded. The dessert was so delicate yet rich. It wasn't too sweet and it wasn't heavy at all. I could have eaten the entire slice by myself! Overall, the bill came out to be about 26$ for 2 people, filling me up quite well, though leaving him a bit on the half full side, and with tip bumped that up to $30. It's not any more expensive than other legit Japanese restaurants, though I wish it were closer! I'll definitely be coming back to try some more cakes :)

Chick-fil-A

4980 Houston Rd
Florence, 41042
Reviews:
This is a great Chick-Fil-A location. It's always clean, the staff is polite and friendly and service is relatively fast. The food always tastes good, too. If you go during a busy drive-thru time they will have employees out working the line of cars. This seriously expedites the drive-thru process and is pretty genius. They definitely are faster when they do this than, say, if you went to another fast food restaurant that had an equally long line - even if it was McDonald's with their double line (which I just think congests things anyway). My favorite thing to order is the grilled chicken sandwich combo, with fries. Oh and about the fries - they're the only fast food place around here that serves waffle fries. Bonus!
Chick-fil-a is the BEST fast food restaurant! They're always sending out coupons for free food on their text message service. They have free kids meals on Tuesday nights. They have a breakfast club where every 6th breakfast you get is free. They send out coupons in the mail. Basically you get a crap load of free food. It's not like they even have to do that! Their chicken is delicious! The waffle fries are superb! And the lemonade is mouth-watering. I seriously choose Chick-fil-a over almost every NICE restaurant in the greater Cincinnati area.
This is the best run fast food restaurant that i have found. Staff is concerned to get you your order quickly and accurately. Food id good and welcome departure from burgers. The ice cream tastes like real home made in soft serve.

Cathay Kitchen Chinese Restaurant

Reviews:
My family and I have been coming here since the place opened. Thankfully these owners have kept up the tradition of Raymond and Louisa with great, fresh dishes prepared to order, and made it their own. The food and service is always great, menu has large variety of Chinese and Thai dishes, all of which that we have had have been top notch. Do your self a favor and check it out, you'll be glad you did.
My mom, my kids, my grandmother and I all enjoy Cathay Kitchen very much! The honey almond chicken is so good. My kids love the food here and the staff is always very nice.
Craving for the chicken noodle soup...sensational. I have not had it in 2 years, so glad I did. I had a lunch break with my girlfriend Toey. Did not know what I was hungry for, almost went to Jimmy John but decided to goto Kathay Kitchen. I'm so glad we did. I order the chicken noodle soup, that's Not on the menu. Ordered noodle stir fry...unbelievable yummy. They use the Undon noodles. Chicken n Broccoli , fresh chicken. All this for lest then $20. I'm coming back again. Eliane was a great waitress.

Stopped last night to try them out. Was very impressed with everything. All four sushi rolls we tried were excellent, service was the best I've had in a long time. By look at it now it's hard to believe this was a donut shop at one time Prices were very reasonable. I'll definitely go again!!!
This has been my second time here. The wait staff needs a little work but the effort is there and with that effort they grow on you. But the food is great and I would say the best in Florence.
I took my daughter for happy hour sushi. It was our first time here. We were amazed not only by the incredible, fresh and delicious sushi, but by the transformation that took place from the Dunkin Donut to the beautiful restaurant it is today. Don't let the boxy exterior fool you, this place is a gem, and half price sushi is never a bad idea.

To be fair, my rating is only based on my experience at Taste of Cincinnati. Simply put, we paid about $20 for unseasoned meat and dry brisket. I know this was just a sampling but I think I'll just stick with Eli's.
Great food and a great place! We enjoyed lunch there and look forward to inviting Eddie to cater for us. Don't miss out in the peach cobbler. You won't be sorry!
Mr Eddie has some of the best BBQ I've ha north of the mason Dixon line. He is a great guy, has great food, and was great with the kiddos.

Again... I. Love. This. Place. Every time we've been there, the drinks, sandwiches, wraps, sides have all be top-notch.
Went here with my childhood best friend's dad, my dad and my girlfriend one evening. Very clean modern and inviting feeling. Live local band was playing. Ordered a chicken and pasta dish that was out of this world. Awesome. Better than Olive Garden. I'm still surprised on how great the dish was. Didn't try the beer because I was 19 at the time (21 now). Hope to visit again soon.
we go to hollers often cause it is very close to us but it is really Boone county best kept secret. a true diamond in the rough. this visit I wanted to try something I haven't had so I choose the holler house burger. it was one of the best burgers Ive had in awhile. the fries was all fresh cut with skin on and was cooked very well. I had a triple IPA beer to go with it. my wife had their blackened fish sandwich which was very good as well. if you go there for first time. you must either get the pretzel with beer cheese or Kentucky egg as app. then go with holler house burger for the entrée. they have a great bourbon and beer selection.
