Fantastic. The basic requirements of a bed and breakfast is to give you somewhere to sleep and some food in the morning. You're Invited Inn was so much more, and so fantastic, that it's the perfect spot to stay when you're touring the Bourbon Trail. Easter and Alvin are fantastic hosts, and their house sits not far from the highway. Their directions are easy to follow, and GPS easily finds the address which is even more important when your flight's delayed and you don't get to the area until after midnight. They left us a note on the door, made sure we could get in, and the room was beautiful and even included some homemade brownies as a "sorry for the airlines being lame!" goodnight snack. The bed, at least in the red room we stayed in, was a king size and included a couch, supple carpet and a bathroom with a soaking tub. But we weren't interested, just interested in sleeping, which we did forthwith. Breakfast, similarly, was as fantastic as you'd expect it to be. It's the first three-course breakfast I'd ever had, and included an appetizer (coffee cake), a main course (potatoes, eggs and bacon and/or sausage) as well as a dessert. More coffee than you can shake a stick at, and flexible timing so if you want breakfast a little earlier or later, Easter would work with you to make that happen. For Bourbon Fest, and a lot of other prime leaf-viewing weekends, people make reservations a long time in advance, so get your request in early. It's one of the best spots to stay.

An oasis of culinary sophistication in Bardstown, KY... an accidental find. Turns out the owner/chef is a California transplant and graduate of an esteemed culinary institute in CA. Wonderful variety of menu items all with fresh ingredients and vegetables... hard to find on the road in that area of the country. Delicious sandwiches and great salads. The Coronado salad had chunks of fresh, sweet ripe mango and a delicious dressing. We're from New York, Miami and LA so our standards ar pretty high. If you find yourself on the road, in or near Bardstown, be sure to stop... You won't be disappointed.

I do not understand the prior reviewer, as it is completely out of character with our experiences. We stayed in the John Fitch Cottage, a one-bedroom cottage that has been modified from its 19th century days. It was a perfect base for doing the local Bourbon Trail. Everything was just lovely, and worked just as expected. The cabin was perfectly neat and clean. The large hot tub in the back room was a wonderful feature, and was maintained and had added touches like votive candles. Perfect for a getaway weekend. The neighborhood was quiet, and we heard very little in the way of traffic noise. The owners were perfectly attentive and solicitous of our needs.

We celebrated our first anniversary in Bardstown this past weekend and made reservations at the Harrison-Smith House for our last dinner in town (mainly because it was right around the corner from our B&B and looked cute). I am SO glad we did. This was the best meal (and best service -- thank you, Nikki!!) that we had all weekend. Everyone in town will recommend that you dine at The Rickhouse (which we did), but it pales in comparison to HSH. From the ribs appetizer to my catfish entree and the delicate profiteroles for dessert... even my Fall Sour cocktail! Everything was superb. To the owners: if you ventured to branch out with another location in Nashville, we would be your biggest fans!
Impeccable! Every single dish was outstanding. It's not often I experience such an all-around amazingly-impressive dining experience. But from the moment I walked onto the property of this historic building and into its entrance, every detail was top-notch. The property, building and restaurant decor is beautiful and the food itself was really extraordinary. My friends and I ordered several appetizers and entrees to share. Every single dish was exceptional. The ingredients are fresh and local (I hear the vegetables are grown in their own backyard)! The food is fresh, simple and clean, not over processed or filled with filler ingredients as too many restaurant dishes are these days. The tastes of every dish we tried were exceptional. The chef is spectacular. Funny, that during my entire 36 years, I disliked catfish - or so I thought. The chef at HSH converted me! His pan-fried wild KY catfish was outstanding - one of the freshest, best-tasting fish dishes I've had. I am gluten free and HSH was wonderfully-accommodating to my needs! Don't forget to get the cocktails and desserts. Impressive and memorable as well. Let's just say I'm a massive fan of this place. I live in NYC and get to experience a decent share of supposedly "top" restaurants. Hands down, HSH is the all-around best restaurant experience I've had in years. I will count the days until a return trip...
Delicious!! Good friendly service! Wonderful meals! Highly recommend. Both dishes were excellent - Shrimp and Grits in red pepper sauce with greens and Crispy Amish Chicken and broccoli. Wish I had room for dessert, but I ate every rich yummy flavorful bite so leaving full with nothing lacking. My husband said he hadn't had chicken that tasty since his aunt used to make it in an iron skillet. We asked how they cooked it and it is pressed under a brick wrapped in foil - who knew?? Enjoy!

Stopped off here for lunch while touring bourbon country with my family. Three of us ordered the Fried Green Tomato BLT, one ordered a regular BLT and one ordered the Slaw Burger. I had the Fried Green Tomato BLT (minus the mayo) with a side of onion rings. The bacon was cooked perfectly crisp on all of our sandwiches. All enjoyed their meal.
Two words: slaw burger! Sooooo good! Add some sweet tea in there and any of her awesome sides and you're set. My sister let me in on this bardstownian secret. She said she had the slaw burgers weekly when she was preggers. Lol! Def be making this a regular stop when I'm in visiting family! prices are super reasonable too!
Was in Bardstown for a wedding recently and stumbled on this place. Wow. Fried Green Tomato BLT. Blew my mind. Delicious salads too. Bardstownians, you are extremely lucky to have these sandwiches at your disposal.

This is your pretty average Mexican restaurant- great for people in town visiting, and has above average queso. No reason you shouldn't eat here, especially if you're staying somewhere with in walking distance!
The worst Mexican food I've ever had.. I told my waiter we are not going to eat anything. The manager came over apologized and proceed to give me the full bill.. no discount.. then the cook came out to apologize and then asked for my number.. Not only the worst food, terrible service but also made a single mother with her children very uncomfortable. I wouldn't even give a 1 star but yelp requires at least that...
My boyfriend and I were visiting my dad out here for Thanksgiving and we had both had enough pie, turkey, and mashed potatoes. We came here for a refreshing change of menu and it was AMAZING! Our server was so nice, very attentive, and seemed to know that we would love our food. I got the chicken with cheese and mushrooms (forgot the name) and subbed my rice for steamed veggies. He brought us out a huge piece of chicken marinated perfectly with a generous side of veggies. My boyfriend really enjoyed his margarita. If we ever get back out that way, we will definitely stop by here again. It's great.

Where else can you get fish tacos and burgers at the fast food pace for around $5.00? Who knows because this area is missing out in Yelp experiences and recommendations. The self serve root beer fountain was pretty cool and seemed to be the favorite drink of choice. The iced mugs could use some replacements though, they were chipped.

We ate here for dinner during a mini-vacation in the Bardstown area. After touring distilleries, the ambiance of this restaurant was a perfect fit and it made you feel like you were eating in one of the "rickhouses" (warehouses) at the local distilleries. The bread was unique and drenched in butter which made it excellent. I had the bone in rib-eye and I literally cut it with a butter knife. As a matter of fact, the server didn't even bring me a steak knife and said that if I needed one then she would bring me another steak! You can't beat that service!. The baked potato was good as well as the mac and cheese. My wife had the "hot brown" which must be a local food because I saw it on several menus at various restaurants in the area. She absolutely loved it and couldn't eat more than half of it due to the portion size. They also have a great selection of bourbons including great bourbon flight choices. Once you arrive at the location it is difficult to find but I believe there are several pictures on here that will give you hints on how to find the entrance,
Had a wonderful experience with Amanda! The steaks are delicious and do not require a steak knife. I had the 12 oz ribeye...mmm mmm good. Be sure to go hungry because dinner started off right with the rolls. They are drenched in butter. We then had the shrimp & grits appetizer which was another 5-star dish. Then the steak mentioned above...I finished mine because I couldn't leave any of it on the plate. But I did leave some of my sides, mac & cheese and green beans, which were also delicious. Dessert was to-go. The food would've been worth the trip but Amanda made it supreme. We will be back!
Our party if four dined here last night for the first time while staying overnight in the Bardstown area. We were beyond impressed. From the food to the service and ambiance, we were impressed at every turn. The food: first, their homemade bread is the BOMB! We had 3 servings :) the crab cake appetizer was excellent. They fell apart from having little breading which is just want you want in a good crab cake. The dipping sauce was delish. Our group ordered 3 steak entrees and one salmon. The blueberry bourbon BBQ sauce that came with the salmon was divine. We all ended up dipping our steak in it too, which was tender enough to cut with a butter knife, literally. I highly recommend the scalloped potatoes or mac & cheese side. As for the service, it was friendly, and consistent. At some point during the meal I developed heartburn and asked if they could bring some baking soda (a homemade remedy!) and while they didn't have it, they brought white vinegar and said that one of the kitchen staff said it would work. Sure enough, it did (who knew?!). Making a reservation for a Friday night was easy and accommodating even with only 24hrs notice. I highly recommend this place for anyone wanting a filling, delicious upscale meal at a reasonable price. My only regret is that I didn't leave room for dessert!
