I recently moved from Topeka to Kansas City, and miss Saigon every time I'm feeling some chinese. The places in KC don't hold up against this place. So, so good.

Perfect place for lunch... I have been to this place for a lunch with my colleagues and one of them suggested for general chicken and was perfect as he said... fried rice could be done much better and egg roll was missing that strange taste but the soup was good and I didn't see the soup doing good in most of Chinese restaurants...

This place was great. The staff is so friendly and the place is very clean. The food is amazing I can't believe I waited so long to try this place out. I might try the Vietnamese next time. I thought their crab Rangoon was the best I've ever had.

I tried to call in an order for carry-out last night. I had only been there once previously a long time ago and was unfamiliar with the menu so I looked it up online. It seemed to be about what youd expect...I wanted a stir fried rice noodle dish and spring rolls, so I found what those items were called on the menu and commenced to place my order. When I called in and started placing my order the guy on the phone said he had no idea what I was talking about when I said the names the menu had listed. I told him I was just ordering off the online menu. He then enlightened me on the fact that 'apparently' some unauthorized individual, who had quite possibly never eaten at that restaurant, had posted a fake menu for them. Weird. That struck me as odd...but ooooh-kay. I tried to explain to the guy what it was I wanted again. Stir fried rice noodles, veggies, tofu blah blah blah. He seemed confused and then suggested that I speak to the owner. Uum, alright. The owner was helpful and was able to assist me in placing my order very quickly. The only problem was...nobody ever was able to tell me what the rice noodle dish I ordered wad called! It tasted very much like 'singapore noodles' and was pretty good. The previous time I went there I remembered being confused as well, due to a vague menu, and specified wanting the same thing, but this time the rendition of the dish I got was VERY different. Makes me wonder how easy ordering from there in the future will be. I also ordered some shrimp summer rolls which I really liked, actually. They also come with some thick, sweet peanut sauce (quite good in small quantities). I dont know if this is going to be an accurate representation of this place overall, due to menu and consistency issues, but as of now I like it alright. Its a bit unexceptional, what do you expect in Topeka? I will go back and give it another shot. I really would like to give this place about 2.5-2.75*, but thats not an option.

A cold winter road trip meant that my family wanted something warm and filling for lunch before hitting the road again. Saigon Restaurant was the only Pho place to show up on the Yelp search so we really didn't have a choice. The food was average but the lunch price made the deal a little sweeter. Both my parents ordered the Szechuan beef lunch combo. It came with a small bowl of soup and an egg roll. A fair amount of food for $6-7. The girlfriend and I ordered the lunch pho. The pho was decent but the portions were small and came with nothing else compared to the egg roll and soup for the other lunch combo. Saigon Restaurant is a decent restaurant but go for the stir fry combos because the pho is average and is rather small.

Finally got around to checking this place out. Both good and OK on the same plate. i.e. somewhat bland and delish.I feel like they need more consistency to move up to four out of five stars. Quaint kinda place and will definitely come back at some Ipoint. Just gotta find that one killer dish that they do that no one else can touch.

I have loved this place since they day they opened. I have eaten here many times and the food is always of very high quality! I can't recommend them highly enough. I love their pho, their noodles, there bun, you name it. My all time favorite food is their fried dumplings. They are to die for! The staff here are very friendly, very helpful and so pleasant. I always love to bring new people here to try the food.

We came here around 2pm on a Thursday and were the only guests at this small restaurant. The staff was very friendly; one complimented me on my parking because he thought I was practicing driving (I'm terrible at parking and I guessed it showed). As an appetizer, we got the summer rolls, which were spring roll wraps with rice noodles, shrimp, and cilantro. I didn't think they were anything special but it was my friend's first time trying it and she liked it. We also liked the peanut sauce that came with it. For our entrees, my friend got pho noodles with beef and I got noodles with beef (bun thit nuong). The beef on my dish was kind of tough (I think it was overcooked); my friend said the pho broth was plain (she added a lot of soy paste). Overall, I think the food was average. Nonetheless, we enjoyed the afternoon here, chatting and eating as Vietnamese music played in the background.

Came for lunch and was good but I have had better. Nothing outstanding about service. Hot & Sour soup was not the best. Main course was ok but not as good as I expected based on other ratings. Pepsi products. I personally would try other places before I would return.

This is my favorite place in Topeka and manhattan to get pho! I always get the spicy seafood pho with the Saigon rangoons. I can't get enough of this place!

Had a craving for Vietnamese this week and this was the only place I could find in Topeka. The restaurant is a little small, and very plainly decorated. The staff was friendly, and the menu was mostly chinese based food with a page dedicated to the Vietnamese cousine. I ended up going with the Pho with beef. The taste of the soup was wonderful. It came with a plate of toppings including bean sprouts, parsley and Lettuce. The bean sprouts were a little old, as some of them had black tips, but the parsley was fresh. They have a great lunch special if you are eating chinese. For $5 you get a bowl of soup, fried rice, an appetizer, and the main entree. For the vietnamese side, all you get is the bowl of Pho with meat. Overall this place was good, but I have been to better vietnamese restaurants. I will have to come back again to try the chinese food some day.

I have went to Saigon several times and order meals totaling $50 or more each time. Mainly through the drive thru. Because of the lack good service. I love pho period but theirs is not the best. It is just the only one in town. The reason for the 1 star is the customer service. I noticed a lack of service to blacks. No greeting, no thank you, or the amount of service given to others. So if your black please know that they don't appreciate your business and it will show in the service.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
