On our recent trip to Topeka, my husband and I had a wonderful lunch at Monsoon Grill. While neither of us prefers buffets, we decided it would be the easiest way to sample a variety of their dishes and we're really glad we did! It was all absolutely fantastic. I can safely say this is the best Indian food I've ever had, as usually there are just one or two things that wow me at an Indian restaurant and I was wowed by every single item I tried at Monsoon Grill. The dal was blowing my mind here. Their kheer was the meal's shining star though -- so often it's powdery and tastes like it came from a mix (I can do that myself at home with ease!) and theirs was so creamy and amazing, nothing like the others. Nice small salad bar available as well, and I loved the way they kept the entrees, rice, and naan hot inside chafing dishes rather than an open air buffet. The price was a bit higher than expected for lunch but given the comfortable, spotless dining room, attentive staff, and high quality food, it was WELL worth the price.

Very excited to have another Indian place in town. Great food, decent prices, and friendly service. Ordered the saag paneer with garlic naan and a pint of Taj Mahal lager. Portions are generous and I got to take home leftovers because I couldn't finish it all.

First trip to Monsoon tonight and everything was wonderful! All the food was very flavorful and the medium spice level was just right. The entire staff was so charming, helpful, and attentive. Our server John was great!

An oasis of flavorful, fresh, healthy, and stimulating food. Extremely friendly staff and clean modern dinning. Lunch is served as a buffet, but do not be dismayed, every dish is freshly prepared. Outstanding quality of food for a minimal price tag.

This seems like a new place for topeka. I was up front and told my server I knew nothing about Indian food and she was patient and informative. That said, I wish wouldn't have been sat with the employees standing behind me wrapping silverware and training. My appetizer was delish and I would have it again. It was the mixed sampler. I had the chicken tikka masala and it was a generous portion full of flavor. I will be coming here again and glad there is another Indian food joint in town.

This is a charming restaurant with exemplary service and the best Indian food in the Midwest! The Naan was fresh and so delicious! The main courses were piping hot with just the right amount of spice that you choose. The wait staff was considerate and right on target with refills - the decor is wonderful. This is truly a gem of Topeka to be discovered - I cannot wait to go back!

A friend brought me here a few weeks ago. We tried their garlic naan, the chicken tikka masala, and another entree that I cant remember. The food and service were good. Nothing spectacular. Standard Indian fare, although I wish we ordered our food to be slightly more spicy. I think the what stands out the most was I've never been to an Indian restaurant with no Indian worker or patron representation. I noticed the same thing at a Tex-Mex restaurant in Manhattan, KS called Coco Bolos with no Mexicans in it, but then again this is Kansas, where there is smaller ethnic minority population. At the same thing time, it's still ridiculous. C,mon, an ethnic restaurant with no ethnic workers?

This place is great! I was pretty surprised since I haven't seen/heard/ate at any good restaurants in Topeka. My work colleague and I stopped here after a work training session and it was SO GOOD! We stopped in during the lunch buffet and I'm happy we did! The food was AMAZING! They had everything I loved and more! The naan was fresh and they had this cabbage that is so good and I've never seen it served at any Indian buffets. The rice and chicken tikka masala were awesome as well! The only downside was that it was so good, that all the chicken in the tikka masala were gone and didn't refill it as soon as they should have but that didn't stop me! The Gulab janum was delicious as well! The servers also walked around and asked each table if they wanted fresh naan! Nice touch! I can't wait to come back to this little gem the next time I'm in Topeka!

I eat here every week and the food is without exception fresh and delicious no matter what time you go to the buffet.

Authentic. I lived in India for 6 months and in Nepal for almost 3 years...and my husband is from Nepal. This place is legit! Kind of over priced but we will pay it because it's the only Indian/Nepali place we've found that's this good. Yum!

I'm a big fan of Indian food, and I've eaten it in many cities. The food at Monsoon was not just "good for Topeka", it was GREAT! My friend and I ordered Chicken Tikka Masala, Aloo Gobi, Dal, and a Peshwari Naan. The portions were VERY generous. We could have skipped one of the entrees, but I'm glad we didn't. All of the food was delicious. Service was also very good. So glad I skipped the chain restaurants. I will definitely go again.

This place can do better, if they think of adding few more items like having some Indian breakfast items, veg Biryani for vegetarians. Honey cauliflower was too good of all the items I had. Chicken Biryani was not hot and tastes different than a Biryani... place is neat and ambience was good... staff were friendly ...

I had an amazing veggie curry dish called spinach kofta. It was served in a delicious cream sauce with a side of rice. I also ordered a basket of garlic naan. The waiter provided excellent service by being attentive, personable and helpful when ordering and serving our meal. I hope to return, the next time I am traveling through.

Hidden gem! It's tucked away in the corner and easy to miss but if you like Indian food then I highly recommend trying this place. Clean, flavorful and authentic Indian food!

Excellent food and the service was outstanding! John is the best waiter around, and you must try the garlic naan! Clean environment! Best kept secret in Topeka!

Today was my third visit to Monsoon since they opened and I want to say that they keep getting better, which is true, but they were also great the first time. Topeka is pretty lean on lunch buffets that are actually good and I think everything Monsoon is doing is spot on.

Outstanding food :) I was driving cross-country and was fortunate enough to be ready for dinner as I approached Topeka. So glad I stopped in here! Highly recommended.

Really well done Indian food in Topeka! As a fan of Indian food for years across the country, this food is on par with the best Indian food I've had across the country. My wife had the chala masala, and I had the chicken makhani, with samosas and a scrumptious peshwari naan. The spice balance was excellent, with an excellent flavor balance, and spiciness levels were as advertised - I requested spicy, and it was pretty seriously spicy (I like habanero sauces...). My wife's was mild, as requested. Service was friendly, and the atmosphere was pleasant. We plan to go back soon!

The grilled veggies are really just a small mushroom, a skinny slice of onion, a slice of red bell pepper and some whole milk tofu cheese. I was very disappointed, as I ordered veggies because I was trying to eat that and not deep fried cheese. The other food was pretty good though.

Love it. Seems to me lots of love and attention to detail has been put into the dining experience here. The atmosphere, the quality of the food and the staff - all fantastic. Can't wait to go back. It's not cheap, but the overall experience is worth it. Yum!

Great Indian food !! Restaurant is next to chipotle on the south side, and not directly visible from Wanamaker rd. Lunch buffet was a excellent with a decent combination of vegetarian and non vegetarian choices. Must go place when you visit Topeka !!

Just tried this place today for lunch. They have a lunch buffet that was great! Lots of different choices and all delicious! The owner also told me that they change the items on the lunch menu everyday. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I will definitely be coming back!

Indian food in Topeka!! My daughter, son in law, husband and I found this place in TOPEKA KANSAS!! Visiting from out of state so we wanted something easy that staff was very knowledgeable and very friendly. It's small but packs a punch. Naan was good, wish we had started earlier in the day so we would have had more time to try more items. But we each ordered something different and shared everything was pretty good. If you are in Topeka stop by I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

The flavors at this place are worth every bite the selection could have been bigger since we were there for the lunch buffet. I think the owners are the people running the place because their service is top knotch. The lady kindly walked me through each dish to ensure I did not grab anything with meat; eggs, or dairy. When I'm back in this area I'll visit again. The spice level is mild to medium on the serving line but if you like it hot you can get it on the side.

We were traveling from MA to CO and then did the return trip a month later... On both trips, we stopped at Monsoon Grill for dinner... This is an authentic Indian restaurant! We've been to India a few times for extended periods of time, and the food here is excellent. We felt that the medium spice was exactly how typical Indian food is prepared - subtle spices that didn't burn your mouth. The waiters were very attentive, had good suggestions on wine and did a nice job. When we do another trip from MA to CO, we'll be returning for a great Indian dinner! As another reviewer said - this is a wonderful surprise in an area full of chain restaurants.

MUST TRY the lamb naan. If unsure about this type of food ask. You'll not be disappointed. With a Professional Chef, a staff that knows the menu, & pleasant owners it'll be an enjoyable visit. When I think of Indian Restaurants in Topeka, I do not think of a place that is so clean, and the food is outstanding as it is at Monsoon Indian Grill.

I live in Kansas City and love Indian food. My wife and I have visited most of the restaurants in KC and some in other states. I totally get this restaurant. The food is Americanized in an effort to make it more appealing to Topekans. Frankly, I thought the flavors were fantastic... but not authentic whatsoever. The pakora appetizer was delicious. The chicken 65 appetizer was delicious, but it tasted like Chinese food. There were 4 of us and we each order a different entree. I ordered the vindaloo and mine probably tasted more like an authentic Indian dish than the rest of our dishes. None of our dishes were very spicy... and vindaloo is supposed to be a spicy dish. We even asked them to make our dishes "very spicy"... I would say they were half as mild as Franks buffalo sauce. My wife ordered korma and it was a little too sweet. Here is my only complaint about our food. The chicken was dark meat and it contained a LOT of fat and skin. I took one bite of my wife's korma... and the sweet flavor with a large piece of fatty dark meat chicken... it was everything I could do to swallow it. Monsoon... if you're reading this, spend a little extra money and purchase chicken breast meat. There were 4 of us and we ordered 4 drinks, 2 apps, and 4 entrees and the bill was close to $120. You're service and dinnerware are great, but you're VERY expensive for Indian food. There's no reason to throw those nasty bits of chicken in your dishes. The service was outstanding, but like other reviewers mentioned, there are no Indians working there. They were young'ish kids and didn't seem to be too knowledgeable about Indian food. They were very attentive and helpful though. Lastly, the atmosphere is really nice. I will probably go to the Globe if I'm back in Topeka and craving Indian food.

Excellent food. Hot and delicious dishes. Pleasant staff. Love this place. If you like Indian food it is a must try. Lots of vegetarian options. The lassi is my favorite. I have to have it whenever I eat there. Never had a dish I didn't like (and I'm pretty picky).

Great new addition to Topeka. I was surprised by the elegant setting. Went for dinner and had the chicken tika marsala. Better than I'd ever had. I'm already planning my next three trips in. Servers were friendly and helpful with suggestions.

I really don't know much about Indian cuisine and, until this point, I have to admit that I wasn't a fan. However, I brought my mother here for a meal and absolutely loved it. It was nice to have the option of the buffet to be able to try several different things. The Chicken Tikka was the most enjoyable to me. That, some fresh naan and a mango lassi? I'm a happy girl.

My wife and I stopped by today just in from Dallas and was pleasantly pleased with Monsoon. The food was outstanding!!! I have eaten Indian food all over the world and this place did not disappoint me at all. The staff was excellent. The buffet had all my favorite dishes and then some. I was very happy to finally have a restaurant in Topeka that I look forward to visiting whenever I come back.

I would definitely go back here, but I wish the prices for the lunch buffet were a bit lower. Buffet, drink, and tip was near $20--which was a bit more expensive for lunch than I would like. However, the food was very good! The buffet had several good options. The naan was out on the buffet line so a waiter came by our table offering fresh baked naan. Service was excellent as well. All and all, a good dining experience. Can't wait to go back and try the dinner options.

I am traveling in Kansas and the hotel staff said this was a great local spot. I previousbelieve the best Indian food I've ever had is a spot in Daytona Beach where I live. I WAS WRONG! This place is AMAZING!! The spices were DELISH and so fresh. The garlic naan was the best I've EVER had. Definitely recommend for locals and anyone traveling in this area. I would drive hours for this place!!

Step into this lovely restaurant and you'll be greeted by clean interior design. The food is amazing. Our favorite was the vegetable Manchuria. We were able to try a lot of the food since we dined during the lunch buffet which I would recommend.

In an area being quickly dominated by fast casual restaurants - Noodles and Company, Jimmy Johns, Chipotle - it's good to remember that Topeka can, occasionally, have really exciting new places that aren't just more chains. Monsoon is one of those places. I've been to several Indian restaurants both expensive and cheap in my day, and have enjoyed a lot of good curry and naan as well, and I must say this is some of the best I've ever had. On my first visit I had the lamb vindaloo, spicy but not too spicy, and sampled some of the tikka masala as well. Since I went with my family, I was very happy to see that the menu explained everything very simply without too many exotic words, and the servers, although they're all very young, seem used to lots of questions and ready to go ask the cook in the back if they can't satisfy your curiosity. Although their menu isn't gigantic they do have an equally large veggie meal section as they do a curry section, so they might not have your lamb korma (that I know of) but you can certainly find something new. The dishes are both clean and fancy, the spices are perfect and the naan, if you order it, which you should, is fresh and delicious. Although it is a pricey place for dinner, their food seems worth it. Definitely not disappointed.

Went to Monsoon Indian Grill for the lunch buffet. I had previously been to this restaurant for dinner, and wanted to try the buffet offerings. There is a nice selection of entrees on the lunch buffet. Two choices for rice - white or jasmine. Naan (Yum!). A small, but adequate salad bar and dessert. I appreciate that each selection is labeled. The servers were very helpful with explaining the ingredients and flavors of the entrée selections. Very consistent about checking on our needs during lunch. Even though this is a buffet, the servers were very attentive and interested in our experience at the restaurant. This fairly new-for-Topeka restaurant is nicely decorated. Tables are close together, but not so close that you feel that strangers are seated at your table. It was not so noisy that I couldn't hear my lunch companion. This restaurant is a little bit out of the way and takes a little work to find. It is located on the north side of 21st street near Wanamaker, next to Chipotle. You have to turn into the shopping center on Wanamaker. Look for the Michaels store. This restaurant is south of the Michaels Store and the T-Mobile Store, turn left, around the corner. There is parking right in front of the restaurant. I definitely will return to this restaurant for both the lunch buffet and dinner.
