Stopped by this GREAT place for their lunch buffet. I can't remember a restaurant where the waiter was so attentive to his customers. The atmosphere was perfect (CLEAN), several of the patrons were of SW Asian descent, and the food just GREAT. The dishes were not on the spicey side and the naan nice and hot.

Another great dinner! The Indian food is tasty and the service is great. When I'm in town I always enjoy dinner here.

Visited this place couple of times, but never had authentic Indian biryani but rest of the other items taste spicy and sweet. Chicken tikka is always best at this place along with vegetarian items taste real good... at times this place is full of people so make it early if you want to have buffet at this place... Last but not least mango ice cream do not not forget to have scoop of it before leaving this place... can do little better

What a great Indian restaurant! We have stopped here for lunch on several occasions while passing through Topeka (in fact if we are anywhere close to Topeka we will make a point to detour to have lunch here). Everything is good, hot, and fresh! What makes me shiver with delight is the ... Mango Ice cream!

One thing I like about the buffet at this place is that they're not afraid of spice. That being said if you are sensitive to spicy you may want to tread lightly here or ask questions before filling your plate with some of the exotic goodies they have. Their buffet has some standard selections like tandoori chicken, and a tikka masala dish. There are also usually some vegetarian selections to keep the meatless folks happy. Sometimes they run out of items on the buffet which can be inconvenient but just ask for them and they'll bring more. The staff is friendly and helpful here.

Definitely worth a try! Tasty food, nice owner, and great prices! We tried chicken nan, garlic nan, lamb vindaloo and chicken tikka masala! They are all good!

So good. I have never had Indian food until I started downtown now this place has me hooked. The food is amazing and the owners are great and helpful. Highly recommend this place to people who have never had Indian food and for the experienced eaters as well!

We eat here a few times a year. Always the lunch buffet. It's good but not great. There are a couple dishes on the buffet that I like very much but wish there were a few more choices.

My favorite restaurant in Topeka! I'm from San Diego, and always craving flavorful cuisine, the food here is amazing. So many Indian spices in each dish, your palate is electrified! Take advantage of the buffet, it's $10.95/person (there's coupons available on their website too) and has a wide assortment of traditional Indian dishes such as chicken tikka masala, tandoori chicken, samosas, vindaloo, and a great selection of vegetarian dishes. Everything is wonderfully tasty, the service is super, and the atmosphere is simple and clean. A must do if you if you are sick of fast food, pizza and barbecue!

Very good and authentic Indian food! Nice surprise to have a place like this in Topeka.

I'm glad it's here and it's a solid three star. Some dishes are well executed (I'm thinking about the "chicken tikka" - which is actually a half decent butter chicken), others leave one scratching one's head (beef biriyani?) and slightly disappointed. Seeing beef at all is weird - presumably the proprietors aren't hindu. Regulars to the convenient lunch buffet will be at the mercy of the chef. Some dishes are nice surprises, others less so. Other highlights include the fried onion pakoras and the mango ice cream. Boned chicken dishes are just fine. Biryanis generally are on the weak side, with insufficient goodies mixed in and on top (cashews, raisins, fried egg...but I digress, it's a regional thing and these guys perhaps don't have the knack). Some dishes have a nice spice kick to them, although these may not be marked. Overall, a workman-like, serviceable, and convenient lunch stop. Come early and get first crack at the food. Besides, Topeka. So don't be super picky, OK?

Food is great, staff is kind and courteous. Food was pretty nice and closer to actual Indian food.

This is a small (apparently family run) restaurant. We stopped in for the lunch buffet. I'm a vegetarian. This is the only place I've discovered near downtown Topeka that serves vegetarian fare. My wife, who was with me, had both vegetarian and beef/ chicken Indian dishes. Buffet was excellent! For my taste, the level of spice in all the dishes was perfect, not too much, not too little. I like spicy food; none of the dishes were bland. This was my first visit to an Indian restaurant, but I guarantee I'll be back to eat at this one again! Large variety of dishes, both vegetarian and otherwise, all fresh and hot. Buffet was kept fresh even though it was around 1:00 pm. Cost with tax was $23 for 2 people, so pretty reasonable for the value. It's basically a self serve restaurant, but the staff does keep your drinks filled and used buffet dishes promptly removed. If you're in downtown Topeka and unfamiliar with Indian cuisine, this would be a great place to stop in. With so many choices on the buffet, there's plenty of room to experiment.

I live in San Francisco and eat Indian regularly. This little gem in Topeka Kansas is ad good as any bay area Indian I've had. You're lucky Topeka. I'd give it 5 stars, but they don't have beer, and that's a bummer.

Found this place on yelp to satisfy my fortnightly craving of Indian food. After reading the reviews i was a little skeptical but as this is the only place with Indian food in Topeka went anyway. Place was virtually empty with only 1 other person eating there on a Saturday afternoon. It's either that they make their food in small batches or that i had walked in at 1:45 PM. which is around closing time - as there was only one piece of tandoori chicken and a couple of pieces of naan which they did not even attempt to replenish. The taste of the food was awesome. I was expecting them to have really toned the food down but they have remained true to the original taste that I would expect back home. The butter chicken, chicken kadai, egg fried rice were all spectacular. Even their matter paneer (peas and cottage cheese) was great. From the desert selection the Mango ice cream was delicious. Price wise i found it to be similar to what i would typically pay for a Chinese buffet ($12) so I'm not sure of the comments of this being expensive. The way i look at it is that you get limited great stuff here v/s huge amounts of average stuff in other places for the same cost. I will surely be returning here to get some more of this. What they can improve is their overall customer service experience which i found to be lacking Topeka standards - it was more of ignore the fellow that i expect in NJ, but I'm in it for the food so i didn't mind.

We came in for the lunch buffet, some good vegetarian options and a vegetable korma that was out of this world!!

In Topeka for a seminar. Dang it is had to find vegetarian fare in this town. The samosas, pakora and naan delicious. Everything else a tad salty. But quick and quiet and just what I needed.

This was an interesting spot in Topeka. The food was tasteful however the buffet options seemed a little limited. I would prefer more hot food options than random fruit on the cold bar. Not much for customer service either.

This place was OK but I wouldnt return based solely on the sign in the men's room that says "please don't flush toilet paper in the toilet" and a trash can with poopy toilet paper in it.

This hit the spot for a couple of very hungry travelers. I've never had such good eggplant. It had a smokey sweet flavor. My husbands lamb curry was perfectly spiced. The naan serving was generous. Service was prompt and polite. It was within walking distance from our hotel.

After spending several weeks without much food diversity I decided to take a risk and try something different. I am glad I did. While the physical establishment might not be very impressive. The treats that await you on the inside will leave you satisfied! Most of the usual Indian delicacies are available here in a very clean dining room. The staff did not communicate very much, they seemed solemn in fact, however there were no issues at all. Two lunch buffets came in at just over $23 with the $1 off coupons available on their website. Pay these folks a visit!

Not the best Indian food I've ever had, but not the worst either. A little pricey for Indian food, but it is the only Indian restaurant in Topeka. Buffet lunches during the week day for about $10.

I ate here for lunch one afternoon. The restaurant itself is just a square somewhat small room. Very plain decor and not much of a hint that it's Indian. No frills what so ever. That doesn't really matter to me since it was a quick lunch buffet. Items such as Korma, Lamb Rogan Josh, Chicken Tika Masala and Saag Paneer were all good. I was hoping for Vindaloo since I love heat. The naan was great. I've eaten in 30 plus Indian restaurants while living in NYC and this is pretty much on par with those type of places. It's not upscale Indian but everyday Indian. Great buffet food. The variety could be a little better but oh well. And don't expect much service. They fill your water glass constantly and that's fine for me,

Delicious rice!!! Delicious food!!! A fairly decent selection of food at the buffet table. Delicious garlic naan and samosa. The first time I went, I overate and although we came from Manhattan on a motorbike, I was determined not to waste any food. I had my leftover to go and held on tight to my doggy bag the whole ride back! I drove to Topeka the second time and got the food to go too. I went the third time with friends and turned them into Indian food believers. I drool just at the thought of it. Then again, maybe it's because that's the only Indian restaurant for miles and miles around.

Good Indian restaurant, it is not the best indian food that I have had, but for being the only Indian restaurant in Topeka, it is very good. The lunch buffet has a good selection of meats and vegetarian dishes. Make sure you try the Mango ice cream for dessert. It is very creamy and tasty. The only complaint I have is that the food is a little bland/mild, especially for an indian restaurant. But this is typical for a buffet that has to cater to a mainly american crowd. Parking during lunch hour is a bit limited and you will most likely find yourself parking at a street meter.

Decent indian food to satisfy that craving in Topeka. We tried the lunch buffet, and while it had all the basics you'd expect - it was about average. Chicken tika masala was pretty bland. Beef vindaloo was tough, but it did have some kick to it. Eventually I just got tired of munching on it. Chicken tandori was dry. Aloo ghobi, however, was very good and done just right. The home-made mango ice-cream that you had to scoop out of a big vat of orange goodness, was delicious, though a bit icy. It had just the right combination of sweetness and creaminess to it, so it was definitely worth the seconds. Overall, a good bet if you're craving indian, but don't expect miracles.

No one was more surprised than my husband and I that one of our most profound experiences with Indian cuisine was found in Topeka, Kansas. We have traveled cross country moving and such no less than 4 times together, using our GPS to find Indian restaurants on the road when we are ready for lunch and dinner. I've had had Indian food all over this country, but none top Globe. I am a vegetarian and my love for malai kofta runs deep. It is hearty, satisfying ,and spicy. This dish is often my litmus test for cuisine cred. To date, no place has topped Globe's kofta in my book. I also had the paneer pakoras which were really delicious. The pakora batter was light and crunchy and the paneer fresh. Our server was extremely nice and helpful as well. Ultimately, having dinner at Globe was a tasty and positive experience. I look forward to blowing through Topeka again for some great food!

4 for being great food.... with great service... Yes, I said it! It's a small place, and persons crying that their water was not filled often enough should take themselves to a place that can actually have a "water clown" run around and fill your water. Seriously, this place is run by essentially two people... Take your grievances elsewhere. Also, about it being "decent" Indian food-- how can it not be good or great?? It is run by Indians!!! I think they would know what Indian food tastes like. Solid food for Topeka. Would have been a 5, but I've had better Indian food in downtown San Diego at similar prices. Still, a must-go for Topekans. Support your downtown! NOT Wanamaker alley.

A surprisingly tasty indian lunch buffet. I was shocked to find a beef dish from an indian place. Sacred cows always taste the best. All the usual indian favorites were here and done well. A variety of chutneys, and some lovely home made rice pudding and mango ice cream. After saying this, it should come as no surprised that the place was packed for lunch. Make sure to give it a try.

Hmmm some people seem to think that waiters do not have to do their job! Standing at the front of the restaurant staring at people with empty glasses is bad business. Being a waiter makes you a "water clown" by definition. Your job as a waiter is to serve the needs of the restaurants patrons! People who are eating spicey food occasionally may want to have a glass of water and it is your job to make sure they have it....wow Alex C you are a jerk!

This is a case where I wish there was the option to give different star ratings for food, service and ambiance. Certainly, the food alone is four star. My appetizer, Vegetable Pakoras, was very good and plentiful. My entree, Malai Kofta, was really delicious. The ambiance is OK, but fairly plain and unattractive. The service was speedy, but lacking. I think with a bit of training, it could easily be improved. It was just some little things, but they all added up and detracted from the overall experience. For example, they put a plate of poppadoms on the table, but didn't bring the pickle and chutney until after the poppadoms were long gone. I can't recall any other Indian restaurant serving one without the other (and I've eaten in several dozen different ones) It may sound like I'm splitting hairs, but I was the only person in the restaurant at the time, so it wasn't like they were too busy or distracted. Another issue was that I was given the check without an option for a second beer, more water or dessert. No big deal, I didn't want any, but if it was offered, I might have changed my mind. Nevertheless, the food was delicious and I would go back and that, to me, is the acid test.

This is an affordable, tasty little spot to hit if you find yourself in downtown Topeka and want something other than a sandwich for lunch. When I used to work at the Capitol complex I swear I ate here at least once a week. It's not the best Indian food, but it's good and fast.

  • Barbara T.

We are such fans that often we eat lunch there once a week on our day off. The only reason I'm not giving it a 5, is because, like all buffets, sometimes the food is amazingly good and fresh, and on occasion not as much, when the establishment is not as busy (which isn't that often). Even when not perfectly fresh it still tastes great! As for the ethics of the ownership, I am not one to ever believe the reporting of the media, and what's to say that poor living conditions in the US is not considered luxury living in their country. I don't know... I just know the food is great and that's good enough for me.

Delicious Indian food in the heart of Topeka. Very nice staff with fun stories to tell. They were very accommodating to my friends food allergies.

Since discovering this restaurant about 6 months after it opened, I have been one of its most faithful customers, eating there a minimum of twice a week. I love Indian cuisine, and have eaten at numerous Indian establishments all over the country--including some famous, highly praised eateries, such as the "Bombay Bistro" in the DC area, and the "Kohinoor" in Orlando. For my money, the food here is in the same class. The service isn't up there with the food, but most--excepting those troubled with obsessive-compulsive disorder--should find it adequate. My personal favorites include the various spinach (saag) dishes, the chicken tikka masala, and the egg plant (baingan bharta) but naturally everyone's tastes are idiosyncratic and you'll have to discover your own favorites. If you're in the area, give it a try, you won't regret it. Open 11:00-02:30 PM (Buffet or menu) and 04:30-09:30 PM (menu), Monday thru Saturday.

Wonderfully cheap if you eat at the buffet or share the large dinner entres with friends. The place is filled with people at lunch...unsurprising seeing as though the food here is wonderful and the manager is very kind. All of the entres taste amazing! The mango ice cream is delicious and if you go to the buffet, you can eat as much of it as you want!
