Color me unimpressed. Why design an experience that begins with SCREAMING your order to a guy that is standing 10 feet away from you and has the memory of a field mouse? I got so tired of repeating my order to the 5 or 6 people as I passed through the assembly line, I finally snapped when one guy asked me for the 4th time if my order was "for here or to go". I found the steak sandwich to be quite flavorless despite having it cooked with the seasoning, peppers, onions, and mushrooms. The only part that was actually pleasant was when you got a bit with cheese. Their cheese is pretty good. I also tried the nachos. They were better than the sandwich, but the chips could be better. I won't have plans to return unless someone else is buying.

Food was good. I had a Chicken Burrito. Wife had a Philly Cheesesteak. We both had fries. All was good. What was not so good, I TRIED to order a side salad. The iceberg lettuce had turned brown, and when the nice manager asked, "do you want me to pick the green lettuce out and serve you that?"..I declined my salad. That is food quality 101...when lettuce is out where the customer can see it...IT HAD BETTER BE FRESH!

Order the chicken or steak cooked in jalapeno juice (Fireball?) delicious!!! Lots of healthy ways to eat here. Love it. Especially the salad or rice bowl with black beans and hot salsa! They also have great ranch dressing for cheat days!

Ok so KC has not been known for Philly's until now!! I can't compare to the real Philadelphia phillies, but this was the best I've ever had. Steak was tender and well seasoned peppers and onions set it off. You can even get it spiced with jalapeños. I didn't try the rice bowls or burritos but they too look great. Lots of condiment choices. I'll be back to try the rest real soon!!!

The food was OK but the place was too dirty. We won't be back. This is a fairly new location. If it's that dirty where customers can see I don't want to think about what the back looks like. I just hope we don't get sick.

Very good steak Philly. I've found the best combo for me.......onions, mushrooms, and jalapeños with the steak. At the sauce bar add one ladle of sweet Asian sauce. A little messy, but umm, umm good.

Not many places to choose from for a steak sandwich around here. But pepper jacks is a good choice. Large portions, all extras on the sandwich are included in price. They have the philly sandwich, salad, rice bowl and children's menu items. If 2 people want to eat for under 20 you can do it here for 2 sandwich, 1 order of fries and share a coke. Sandwich and fries are very large servings

I decided to come here after hearing decent things about it, but I was extremely disappointed. I don't eat phillies, but I came here for my mom. I got a rice bowl that was disgusting. They have extremely low quality product thus low quality crap. You would think with a small menu that everything would be good, but thats not true. I got chicken in my rice bowl, which was a mistake. The chicken didn't resemble any chicken I know. They throw a round piece of processed meat on the grill and chop it up. The employees were unfriendly and you can tell they are burnt out and going through the motions. Also, some employees were sweating profusely. I understand they work behind the grill all day, but that doesn't excuse the lack of cleanliness. I would give this place zero stars if I could.

I am a big fan of the steak Philly. I got all the toppings, jalapenos, peppers, onions, and mushrooms in mine. I even got it "fire Bombed" where they soak your meat in jalapeno sauce. The Philly was awesome tasted amazing and cooked perfectly. The queso was good I dipped my fries in it. Only issues where there weren't any cheese options, (pepper jack would be idea for this) and the fries were not done soggy and soft. Great new addition to Shawnee, the line took a bit long even though I went at 3 on a Sunday but I understand it recently opened and is new.

Make sure if you go that there is no water on the floor. They don't seem to care about everyone's safety at the store. My 2 year old did the splits and the mgr came over without saying sorry just said it will be cleaned up! No apologies nothing. Everyone in the store knew something happened because he belted a loud scream.

BEST. CHICKEN. PHILLY. IN. SHAWNEE. I can't say it's the best one ever but for lil ol Shawnee, it's where you need to go for a good philly. There's not much more to say than just go try it....Fire ball style (if you like hot stuff). Enjoy!

This Pepperjax location's food and service is touch and go; it primarily depends on the manager and staff on duty. Problems experienced have included long wait times, extremely filthy grills, dirty tables and floors, failure to drain vegetables that are going into wraps (which makes them soggy or watery), wrong orders, and writing down our credit card number, expiration date, and 3-digit number on a piece of paper for the world to see when their credit card processing machine was down. It is notable that the latter isn't even legal. The credit card processing company should supply them with a manual machine and slips in cases like this, and these slips should be placed in the register after being filled out. I've complained a handful of times to their corporate office, which is responsive for the most part, but the problems continue. At this point, I'm not sure if I'll go back.

Incredible. I know this place gets a bad rep for being dirty at times, but I can look past that for the terrific cheesesteaks and sauces (I think the sauces make it for me). I eat here about 3 times a week because I enjoy the prices, flavors and atmosphere. Would and do recommend this to my friends!

I love phillies! So this is my go-to place for place them! I like the fact that they don't automatically come with bell peppers! I hate cooked bell peppers, so I have them make mine with jalapeños and cook it in the juice. The meat has a greasy tendency, but overall pretty good! They have many options including salads, wraps, rice bowls & sandwiches. Meats include beef, chicken & shrimp. Of course you can go all veggie too! They have great sides and a do it yourself sauce bar! Yum!

After constantly passing it up every day on Shawnee Mission Parkway, I'd been waiting (for what seemed like forever) for Pepperjax Grill to finally open so that I could go. And finally the opportunity has come! I went with my father around 3pm so it wasn't busy at all. There was ample seating (tables and booths) and a few TV's were on. There are menus right by the door for you to pick up and browse through while you wait in line. You have the option of steak, chicken, or vegetarian for the phillies. And the toppings available are onions, green peppers, mushrooms, and/or jalapeños. We both ordered a steak Philly with onions, green peppers, mushrooms, and we shared a side of fries. They cook the meat in front of you and so you can watch them prepare your order. The Philly was super tasty! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the fact that they prepare the Philly so that the cheese is on the bottom of the bread (in between the meat and bread). Because of this genius cheese placement, my bread lasted the whole meal without getting soggy as the natural juices from any meat Philly would just drip to the sides instead of soaking through the bottom. The fries were just okay. Nothing special. They were lightly seasoned, oily, and turn cold rather quickly. Hardly any taste. We asked for fresh fries and the staff was kind/polite to cook us some new fries. Next time, we will opt for a different side instead of fries. Pepperjax Grill had other items on the menu besides philly's like rice bowls, burritos, loaded nachos, and salad. I will definitely return here to try out the other meals.

Let me first say this was my first visit to this location, but I love other PepperJax Grill's. We walk in around lunch time and there's not too many people in line or eating. We order, staff is nice, helpful, and even offers my mom (who wants no meat) to scrape the grill to get the meat goo off it. This takes a minute, but it makes her happy. We pay, and go to sit down...but there was only one table that had nothing on it. It looked like the apocalypse had happened and the people vanished, leaving their food behind. I had never seen a restaurant look that bad before. When we went over to the last table standing, it was disgusting...just had the food taken away and not wiped down. We ate quickly and got out of there. The food was just like the others, but something so simple as keeping a place clean will be imparative in a new, clean area that they are around.

Went here on a Friday night at the urging of a friend. The line was LONG! But worth the wait to try this place out. I got a veggie Phillie, friend got steak Phillie, and the kiddo got a kids rice bowl. Everything is made fresh in front of you and they are generous with the meat. Everything is well seasoned which is a plus. When we got to the table I spilled two drinks. By the time id went to grab napkins and come back the manager had wiped the table clean. a+ for service!! However, I didn't really like my sandwich. Cheese options would be nice but the cheese they have (white American?) was salty. the bread of my sandwich was the perfect consistency but was soggy and fell apart by the end of my meal. Friend liked his steak Phillie though. The rice bowl was nasty. The rice was undercooked so my daughter wouldn't eat it. My fries (which are an extra charge) were really cold. Great service. Mediocre food.

These cheese steaks are out of this world! Word of warning. Don't order the extra meat... it will be way too much meat.

To claim the title of America's best philly is mighty bold talk. Considering the fact the we lived in Eastern PA where the Philly was invented, it was a challenge we couldn't pass up. We came here for lunch a couple of weeks ago. Sadly, it isn't up to what you claim. It isn't even the best in KC - more on that later. We found this store in not such great shape either. The grill was dirty, as were the floors. Several tables had trash left from previous customers. In the time we were there, about 40 minutes, they weren't cleaned up. In our opinion the best philly in KC is Lenny's Sub Shop on Sante Fe and Grant in OP.
