Perhaps the kitchen staff has changed since the previous two reviews, but our recent take-out experience was wholly underwhelming. We ordered steamed dumplings, chicken skewers, hot and sour soup and garlic chicken. The dumplings were fairly standard but overly gummy/starchy. The soup was easily the blandest rendition of hot and sour I have ever sampled, and I have sampled at least a couple dozen throughout the years. This version was almost entirely broth and wasn't actually "hot" OR sour. Their crab Rangoon are heavy wanton wrappers with hardly a whisper of crab flavor in the cream cheese filling. The skewers were decent, but subpar to most that I've had elsewhere. Finally, the garlic chicken was the best dish of the lot, but it was still too sweet for my or my wife's tastes. (This is a dish marked as spicy on the menu.) Just like the soup... no heat or spice. Overall, I can think of no reason I would return here unless I hear that things improve significantly.

This place is just awful. Chicken was low grade and crab rangoons were hard as a rock

Not a bad little place to stop in for some take out. I'd prefer they didn't use the dining area for storage, but it seems kind of normal sometimes for this type of set up. They were friendly and fast. The food was good, it wasn't earth-shattering, but it was good and a good price. I was there at night. Their parking lot could use more lighting. It was pitch black. Maybe the lights just weren't on yet since it's winter, but it made me nervous navigating their curbs and sidewalks with very little light to help guide me safely back to my car.

This is the closest Chinese carry out restaurant to us. I typically stop by once a while on my way home from work. I ordered the orange beef, not spicy. They informed me the chefs accidentally made it spicy and asked if it was okay. I told her we're not able to eat spicy food. The cook made a comment and wasn't happy with my refusal. After less than a couple of minutes, my food was ready. When I got home, the Orange beef looks like a soup sandwich. In short, they washed the one that was made and toss more sauce on it. I can still see the red peppers in it. I tried one piece and it tasted soggy from my 5 minutes drive home. I will not go back to a restaurant that refuses to re-cook something they made a mistake on. The (assumed) owner's son was also cursing up a storm at his tablet while sitting at a table, which I found funny. Considering he is around grade school age.

When I first moved to Shawnee and saw how close this place was to my house, I thought I'd have trouble not eating here. Then I tried the food and found that it wouldn't be an issue. Service was quick on take out, but upon eating ALL of the fried food tasted like it was cooked in old/bad oil. It's possible this was a one time occurrence, but no one in my family found the food edible and I actually threw all of it out (which I don't think we've ever done before or since). Given our experience we won't be dining here again.

We eat here at least once a week. Both my husband and I are eating healthy and they are always happy to accommodate our requests by putting the sauces on the side or doing steamed instead of breaded meats. Clean kitchen and kind people. They remember my order better than I do (and remind me when I forgot to add something). Love this place!

We love their General Chicken. The prices are good and they are always quick and helpful. Definitely take it to go. I would never eat inside, nothing special.

Food is always tasty and fresh. Friendly staff adds to the appeal of this neighborhood mostly-carryout restaurant. Try the Hunan Chicken.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly.
