At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.
Later in 2007, IHOP Corp. now known as DineEquity, Inc. acquired Applebee's and began their journey together to make Applebee's the world's largest full-service restaurant chain. Today, Applebee's serves at more than 1,830 locations worldwide. The Applebee's menu ranges from Appetizers and Salads to heavy meals consisting of ribs and steak. I just walked into this applebees with my two children to watch the royals game. In before is was a couple who wanted to do the same the host begins to sest the away from where the tvs are and the couple request to be sat where they could see. The host (a high school student) informed the couple they were unable to be sat there as there werent servers in that area. So the couple said ok well I guess we will go somewhere else. As we were there to do the sameni told the host you seriously are willing to lose business over a tv...he said sorry we dont have servers there...the manager who was just walking in the door came over after seeing me with host I explained to her how she was losing business over seating she was very nice willing to buy our food and serve us herself...I did nit want to stay there knowing Saints was a block away...we ended up ay saints pub down the streey only to find the other couple there as well..they even have the sound on at saints....you would think you would do better to provide customer satisfaction with so many competitors at arms reach....

I needed a place to eat that was open around 11 PM, close to my other place of business in KS, and had low calorie options. I wanted to stop at Town Topic on the way through downtown and get a greasy, delicious, cheeseburger. But I had a blood test in the morning, so I figured I shouldn't push my cholesterol up any higher. I saw the roadside sign for Applebee's and figured that was better than Denny's. I ended up getting the Creamy Parmesan Chicken and a wedge salad to go. The grilled chicken was actually very flavorful. It was served with steamed spinach and an onion rice pilaf. All quite good for a low cal meal. Would hit this place again for a similar meal.

Amazing service. Candace was very busy but always was on top of getting our food to us hot. Kept our drinks filled. Candace very personal with all of the guests. She will be the reason I come back and recommend others to this Applebee's.

The food is Applebee's. Consistent and fine. Came in a couple nights ago and back today because of the service. Bartender Mike is what every neighborhood pub should have. Knows your name, drink and story. He takes the time to introduce you to his bar full of local neighbors. We will be back often. This is where I will come to watch the game or unwind after work. Having been in the industry for a long time, I appreciate a great server. Thanks Mike for making us feel welcome in our new neighborhood.

Not a fan of this Applebee's. Every time we have gone, something comes out wrong. The last and final time we went, the cook managed to present a burnt sacrifice instead of a grilled cheese sandwich to my daughter. Not to mention it was served 10-15 minutes AFTER the adult meals arrived. Any parent will agree: Bring the little kids meal first. Happy kids=happy parents. Because of this Applebee's our family has boycotted this chain altogether.

I've always liked Applebee's but tonight's meal was sort of a nightmare. My husband and I ordered the 2 for $25 and ordered the spin dip app. I took one bite and burned the roof of my mouth so bad that half of the skin literally melted off. I like warm spin dip but this was ridiculous and quite painful. Also, the tortilla chips were burnt. My husband ordered the bourbon steak and said it was just okay. I had the double crunch shrimp and, although they tasted ok, the were on the small side and were smashed down & limp. Not crunchy or plump like I expected. Our waitress was good so that's why I gave 2 stars.

We sat for 10 minutes before I had to get the manager to have someone take our order. People that came in after us orders had been taken and drinks served before the manager sent our sever over this place sucks

This location is no longer a corporate location so all of the weekly specials have changed however are not advertised or reflected on their website or at the establishment. No kids eat free on Tuesdays or Sundays. Late night happy hour doesn't start until 10pm and not all of the appetizers are included. If you are a regular at this location for kids eat free or late night happy hour check with your server before you order!!
(2)Lenny L.
Pleasantly surprised! I went to this Applebees location with coworkers and the service was excellent. We mostly ordered the lunch combos and the food was hot and fresh. The server was very attentive and checked on our table several times. Thanks and I will come back again!!
(4)Jessica N.
We love this location. Even if we do not get our usual server most of them are better than Legends Applebee's. As for food, it's always how we ask for it.
(5)Stephanie P.
I'm not much of a chain restaurant person, but this a great Applebee's! Everything comes out correct and great! The servers are efficient & friendly. The bartenders are great! Very friendly and knowledgeable. The seating is a little strange, but as a whole it is pretty good!
(4)Rick S.
Poor service stale fries and chips. This place Needs a real makeover and the waitresses would be best served to take Care of their customers instead of chatting with friends about their days events and etc. will not be back. What a shame. Bar tenders beard should be covered or needs to get rid of it before it ends up in Some ones drink

I've been a fan of Applebee's for a long time but my last few visits have been a bit disappointing. Looking for an inexpensive dining experience with a comfortable environment, four of us decided on Applebee's last night. The setting was comfortable--of course it hasn't changed in over twenty years and could probably use some updating. But food and service fell short. Our spinach and artichoke dip was bland and the chips were oily. My pasta was overcooked and the Alfredo sauce lacked flavor. My Boulevard Wheat beer was flat and seemed a bit diluted. Our server was adequate but seemed mostly interested in selling desserts. I think I'm about done with Applebee's.
(2)Claudia S.
I overlook Applebee's a lot because I like to try different places, but we've gone a couple times recently just because it was close to home and open late and enjoyed it a lot. Their late night specials are fantastic and the 2 for $20 is a great deal too. Love those boneless wings... yum.
(4)LeAnn A.
Their "perfect margarita's" are really almost perfect. (lil pricey, but worth it). Suggestion: if you order a steak order it undercooked. Never really had bad service, usually if they mess up the managers are on top of it to fix the problem.
(4)Katia S.
We ate there late on Saturday night around 11 pm. The food was terrible. I have eaten there before & it was good, so I don't know if it was the cook or what? The service was mediocre.
(2)Noelle W.
This one has been remodeled in the last few years so it is much more up to date than a lot of other Applebees Lots of TVs Great Bar It gets a little crammed if you have large groups but the servers are really nice/ accommodating
(3)Chris G.
It's actually a 2 1/2 star review.... Food is hit or miss; but my last carry out was just perfect. Service is hit or miss, too.
(3)Trisha L.
We left Johnnys because bartenders didn't seem to want to work , with 15 minutes till the game we hopped into Applebee's . $5.99 pitcher of bud light and a very awesome bartender ! Mike made our experience amazing !
(5)Cathy R.
Got Applebees to go order! Ordered a grilled chicken Caesar salad. It came with no cheese like they give you in the restaurant and not even a whole chicken breast. Was really disappointed and won't order it again.
(2)Kalli F.
Good service, good food. Been coming here for a while and don't have any complaints yet.
(5)S K.
Do not go here!!! Every bit of our experience at this place was a disappointment. The place is obviously understaffed and poorly run. And the food is a disgusting joke. We walked in on a Saturday night to see 4 unbussed tables that stayed that way for quite some time after we were seated. The hostess was confused as to where to seat us and after leading us to a table walked us back and made us wait again (only a few minutes but this little thing added up with the rest of the bad experience). The waitress brought my 2 children their drinks with no straws. No biggie, but it took forever to get the straws, as well as a cup with a lid for my 2 year old. Who also gives a 2 year old a bottle of milk in a restaurant? McDonalds! But at least you're not expecting good food or service there. And both my husband and I's sandwiches had very little meat. My sandwich was mostly wilty lettuce. My advice - don't waste your money or your time at this establishment!!! Never again!
