Super clean and professional. Miss a classy feel with affordable prices. Great lunch specials and the best crab Ragoon I've had.

For a decent Chinese place in Olathe- Master Wok is it! The lady who runs it is super nice and friendly and the service is always excellent. My favorite thing is the sesame delight or the triple delight. Their portions are huge! You get a lot for your money, whether it's lunch or dinner. I'm a big crab rangoon fan, but theirs is just so-so. This place is always clean too which is a HUGE plus in my book.

My husband and I both went here tonight for the first time and we'll definitely be back. We started with the appitizer sampler platter and it was great. I got the braised chicken and they made it "mild" for me as I don't do really hot dishes. It was wonderful. I got the fried rice with it. I didn't feel it was the best, but mixed with my entrée, it was good. The atmosphere was nice and the place was very clean. All of the staff was extremely friendly. We were also amazed with how low the prices were for the amount of food you get. We'll definitely go back.

Okay, I've decided over the last two visits that this place sucks. The most recent, on Saturday evening, sealed the deal. It was to go, and was served up by a not too friendly woman at the front. Oh well, I can get past that. The food, once we dug in back home, was pretty bad. I was craving some Americanized Chinese food, so I knew what I was getting, but still... Moo Shu Pork - tons of filler, very little meat. The meat that was there had zero flavor. It was seriously like eating air. Wok Pan Fried Noodles (with shrimp, chicken, beef) - Also flavorless. There was, on this one, plenty of meat, and I actually would have preferred more noodles. But none of that could make up for the overwhelming sense of "blah" Crab Rangoon - I'm not a fan to begin with, but my fiance is. We both felt they were almost stale tasting. So, I won't be returning to Master Wok. No thank you.

I can agree with those who said the decor and service are outstanding. Unfortunately, I also agree with those who thought the food was bland. One extreme reviewer on Google compared it to cardboard, but I wouldn't go that far... The ingredients were fresh, and the presentation was fine. But when you go out for Chinese food, you want it to have lots of flavor. Hot and sour soup should be spicy hot and at least slightly tart/sour. Not so at this place. The entrees suffered from the same problem. If this is REALLY your favorite Chinese restaurant in the area, I challenge you to try Fortune Palace (near 87th & Quivira). Every item on the menu there is top-shelf, and they still have the decor and service of a 5-Star establishment. One more thing about Magic Wok... The lunch menu prices were great! 6 bucks for soup, appetizer and entree is outstanding! Now - please do something about the bland food!

My chicken fried rice was greasy and bland, tasted like a frozen dinner. Probably won't be back, but i've eaten here before and it was better. The crab ragoons were good, but I've had better for less money. Also i didn't notice till i paid but the waitress had what appeared to be a big rash on her arm, just think it would be better in that situation to at least wear long sleeves.

Great food, nice atmosphere and excellent service! I didn't give it 5 stars just because I have to be blown away to give a rating like that. Solid 4 and I will definitely return!

This is the best Chinese place around! The portions are large and the food is good. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is nice. My husband and I usually go here for lunch, when you can get soup, an appetizer, and an entree for under $7. You can't beat the price, and the food is delicious!

This is the best Chinese food in the area and is not expensive. Its clean and nicely decorated. I don't agree with any of the neg comments by other reviewers. Almost 100% in my book on everything, which is almost impossible to find anywhere.

Atmosphere is nice. Service is excellent. The food is terrible. Generic Chinese but tasteless. I wish they focused as much on the recipes as they do on the decor. I won't be coming back.

We go here for lunch frequently. Nice the servers recognize you. They will alter any dish to your liking. All good food.

The Lo Mein is probably one of my favorites in Olathe (even though they use what appears to be spaghetti noodles). I do not like; however, the "fried" rice with the lunch special. To me, fried rice should have eggs, peas and carrots in it and have some flavor to it. It was plain and unsatisfying. Other than that, the crab rangoon are tasty, and the egg drop soup has some pretty good flavor. It's made it to one of my "go to" Chinese take out places.

The decor? Wonderful! The staff and hostesses? Awesome! Our waitress?? Very friendly, attentive, and fast! The food??? Really good. Hot and fresh. Came out fast. The stowaway hair found in the process of eating my meal.......... -__- It would be one thing if it was a short hair or something...like maybe half an inch...MAYBE. But for this piece of long, stringy hair to be seven or eight inches long.................... That totally ruined dinner for me....and the food was super duper good. The spring rolls and crab rangoon were awesome. It was my first time trying the spring rolls and I would order them again. For entrees, we ordered Kung Pao chicken and Cashew chicken. Good flavor. Robust sauce. Hairy ingredients..... Would I return again? Yeah. But don't expect me to get cashew chicken again.

We dined for the first time at Master Wok on 2/7/12. We visited this restaurant when it was the previous incarnation. Gimmie Sum. I believe the decor has been updated and the atmosphere is quite nice. We were one of only four tables of customers in the place and our service was quick and attentive. I asked for a recommendation from our sever and was quite delighted that she actually made a suggestion (I get so annoyed when servers give you their non-suggestion suggestions). The crab rangoon was fresh - with creamy cream cheese (not pre-fried with clumpy cream cheese like some places to do). The sweet and sour for the crab rangoon was very tasty and sweet. I ordered the Braised Chicken with a spicy brown ginger sauce. It was good, and, just as I like, full of crispy vegetables. My husband ordered Sweet and Sour Chicken - we didn't like it as well. The chicken was HEAVILY coated in thick, red goo. It was not the same sauce that we dipped our crab rangoon in. We both opted for fried rice with our meals, however, to me, fried rice implies that it comes with peas, onion and carrot. This was just rice that was fried. Disappointing. The food is very Americanized. Would I go back? Probably. My favorite Chinese food is still Fortune Wok at 135th and Quivira, but it is a bit far from my house. Master Wok is the best we've found in this neighborhood.

I could go 3.5 on this. I had a hard time deciding but finally settled on the hot braised chicken. It wasn't a "Master Wok Specialty" so I suppose I owe M-Dub a 2nd visit (which I am not opposed to since they have a pretty diverse menu with lots of appealing selections). My dish was drowning in a runny sweet ginger sauce that almost seemed "watered-down". I think if had been a little more concentrated (per se) it would have had a more distinct flavor/taste. I felt the dinner prices were slightly on the steep side given the portion size. Dining room and tables are kinda fancy-shmancy so I suppose that is built into the cost somewhat. Lunch prices, however, seemed reasonable.

The dining room has a bit of an upscale feel, but the menu is pretty run-of-the-mill midwestern Chinese, nothing really innovative or standout. The food was fresh & delicious, but I felt that portion sizes were on the small side for $10-12 entrees (no sides). We were there pretty early, had the place to ourselves for dinner, so our server was attentive to the point of hovering. I wanted to tell him to back off a notch, but there wasn't anyone else keeping him busy; maybe it's different during the regular dinner hour.

I had been wanting to try Master Wok for some time and finally made a visit. My attempts to try every Chinese restaurant in the metro area are going slowly since I've lived in the area for 18 months. I found Bo Ling's egg rolls (amongst other fabulous dishes there) and have been stuck ever since. I had quickly skimmed the reviews for Master Wok outside the restaurant and was slightly disappointed by some of them. But you just never know. I was pleasantly surprised when we walked in. Nice atmosphere and friendly people! Our crab rangoons were average...and the egg rolls average for most probably. They were the skinnier, "lighter" egg rolls - the opposite of my favorites: Big, fat and greasy! I ordered the Kung Pao Chicken and asked for it extra spicy. Surprisingly, it came just as I ordered, which is unusual for most places. I think they're afraid to hurt us! So mine was delish. My friend ordered the Dragon & Phoenix. She thought it was dry and overcooked...and I concurred. Not even worth putting it in a box to take with. Too bad. Overall I would have given this restaurant 3 stars, but the following mishap really disturbed me. As we had gotten there fairly late in the evening (close to closing time) we were witnessing their closing duties. The waitress, with no remorse at all, proceeded to take every sweet & sour and mustard container from each table and pour the contents into a pitcher. I told my friend in a whisper, "...surely she's gathering it all up to throw it away." Nope! When it was all gathered: one for the mustard and one for the sweet & sour...she put the lids on (you know, the kind you'd use to keep Kool-Aid in?) and put them at the waitress station. Now, without going into all the disgusting thoughts that went through my head...I can say I won't be going back.

I usually dont do egg drop soup, but theirs is pretty yummy. Very cute on the inside and the people I've encountered are always friendly here. For around 6 bucks, the fried rice lunch special hits the spot. Try it spicy!

We have been here multiple times since they opened. Great food...especially the crab rangoon and peanut chicken. The waiters have always been extremely nice too. They did not have their liquor license yet but they should have it soon...we hope!

Great lunch and priced well! Lunch special $6 included soup, crab Rangoon or spring rolls and entree. Can't wait to go back and try something off their healthy menu.

This place is the best kept Asian restaurant in Olathe. I eat here on a regular basis during lunch and have gotten to know the owner - Steve, the waitresses Stella, Shirley and a waiter named Owen. If Steve is working he will personally come out and make sure your experience was great. All of the employees you encounter are absolutely wonderful. The food, atmosphere and service is exceptional - Second to none. I order General's Chicken on the lunch menu and personally it's by far the best I've had in my life. I also bring in guests with me knowing that they'll have a wonderful experience. With my 5 Star rating I highly recommend this establishment!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
