Went here for the first time last week. We had previously gone to a small diner in Paola, Kansas, for breakfast. But since we moved, it's too far to drive there. So I scoped out a place that had a similar local-dive atmosphere that seemed family-oriented. I ordered the half-order of biscuits and gravy and one pancake. The pancake did say "giant," but I didn't take it seriously. It was huge, and so delicious. I love when pancakes are "cake" and not flat like that ethiopian bread junk. The prices were amazing, and our bill would have been cheap if it wouldn't have been for the coffee. The two of us both ordered coffee, and those combined ended up being more expensive than anything else we ordered individually. Kinda hard to have breakfast without coffee though. I'm amazed at how much places charge for regular coffee these days. The woman who was running the place that Saturday morning was a cheery bag of joy, and I felt like I had known her for years by the time breakfast was finished. Very comfortable to be here. I'll be back tomorrow.

Very average diner experience. Service was quick and attentive, I give it 5 stars but the food was just mediocre. I had the pulled pork dinner with beans and fries. This is not a BBQ joint so I should have lowered my expectations. The pork must have been cooked or served from liquid, it was kind of watery. The beans were very sweet and very good, as if they had actually been baked. Fries were thick-cut and good. My husband had breakfast food. The hash browns must be deep-fried, each shred was crispy and there wasn't any potato texture left. Other than that, he said it was average.

This diner is really good with somethings, meh with others. The burgers are the best thing I have had here. A decent sized burger, with the perfect thickness. Not overcooked, but not dripping juicy. There are a ton of options and they are well seasoned. The burgers come with fries. The fries are right on, thicker meaty insides and crisp outsides. The breakfast are standard diner fare. You can't go wrong, although the white gravy is a little too white and could be more sausage. It is almost as if they stir it up per order instead of making a big yummy batch. Skip the meatloaf. I can not even describe the consistency of it, except it isn't meatloaf consistency! French dip is decent. I wouldn't trip over myself going for one and would probably get a burger instead, but you won't hate it. Overall typical diner menu and like most diners, they have their stars. Service is amazing! The owners work the restaurant and absolutely friendly. Some of the best service you will find.

The burger was thick and perfectly cooked, plus they have great pickles. But the service was on the slow side. But I am defiently coming back to try the "Juicy Lucy" which had the cheese on the inside!

This place....this place surprised the heck out of me. I walk in and see chinese restaurant decor. Which dont get me wrong, i love chinese food but its not exactly what one would expect from an American food diner. We sit down and are promptly greeted. I order the Trainwreck and my friends order some other breakfast fare. The food arrives quickly and let me tell you....everything was cooked to perfection. Both my eggs as well as my friends eggs were done beautifully. Sausage was a nice sized link with a crisp snap. Full of flavor. Toast was thick and toasted nicely. Hashbrowns were crisped grandly and the gravy was perfect and slightly spicy. Ive eaten here twice more and i will many many more times. Quality has been consistent thus far and food is cheap to boot!

My husband and I tried Downtown Diner for the first time this last weekend. The place is populated with regulars who smile at us new kids. Per the recommendations, we tried the french toast. It was really different. Crispy, not soggy. I liked it. Stan less so - said he likes his a little soggy. The hash browns were normal. The sausage links were a little less zingy than I would have liked. The eggs were cooked to perfection. The atmosphere is kooky. The building used to house a Chinese restaurant, and the tables and dishes haven't changed. My coffee was served in a small mug (likely accustomed to holding green tea) and had a slight undertone of green tea... I think. It was just a bit "off" and that's the only thing I could attribute it to. Husband ordered Diet Coke, and then happily took the suggestion that they had Diet Dr. Pepper on tap. The daughter of the owner was our server, and she was very attentive and friendly. I asked her what we should have come for and she said the burgers. And the schnitzel when it's the special. And the open face roast beef sandwich. She also pointed out that all the bread is baked in house - that her Dad loves to bake. After the burgers were listed, handsome husband asked "so, why did we come for breakfast?" We'll be back.

I dislike Olathe's traffic and noise but this place might just make me forget about all that. Homemade sandwich buns that are toasted on the grill, awesome!

Really nice and clean business. Sue and Rich treat you like family. Never tried a meal I didn't like! Rich is always cooking up something new every day in his kitchen. Great home cooked meals! The epitome of comfort food!! The meatloaf is excellent smoky goodness!!

The food was 5 stars, but the service was so slow it took more than an hour to get our breakfast. The staff was obviously working hard, but they just didn't have enough people. They kept their cool and did keep the drinks refilled, so I give them credit for that. It was my first time, so this slowness might be a fluke. The biscuits & gravy was excellent, and everyone else's food looked amazing, so I'll give them another chance. I just won't go when I'm in a hurry.

Dropped in again, for breakfast this time. Ordered just a basic plate with sausage, eggs and potatoes. All good. Sausage a little spicier than I expected, but the country potatoes were seasoned perfectly. Again, the waitress (different one today) kept up with us very well, and made the visit more like a home town experience, where everyone knows you. And her having a personality is a refreshing change from the usual emotionless robot that you can encounter in other cafes.

In our party of four, two of us found black hair in our omelettes. Waited 45 mins+ for our food. Service was very poor.

Great lunch! We ordered the Cobb Salad! It was quite large! We enjoyed the meal. All their pies are made fresh! I was eyeing the Nutella Chocolate cake!

Came in for breakfast. I got the half order of biscuits and gravy and a short stack. The gravy tasted like packet gravy. The sausage in the gravy was chopped up sausage patties and didn't have the nice texture I love with ground sausage. The pancakes had an average flavor but were not light fluffy goodness that I would expect from a diner.
