Review Update: I had reviewed this place 2 stars on my initial visit due to service, but I have been back here a few times; most recently on 8/14/2015. I had to go a few times before this place earned back a better review. This is a place we like to take out of town company. The food has always been good. And the beer has always been great. My favorite beer on the menu is the Wildcat Wheat.

We love little Apple..we go here with family we go here it's a date night while we go to unwind after working, or just to hang out. The staff is great, the food is out of this world. Tonight we experienced one of the best cheese plates I've ever had

We went for lunch on a Friday afternoon. It was not too crowded and did not have to wait for the table. I had the Chipotle Chicken Club sandwich and the Pulled Pork sandwich. The chicken sandwich was the better of the two. The chicken was moist and the bacon was crispy. I was not wild about the fries--seemed like the typical freezer fries. The German potato salad seemed home made and was served warm. I might have added more seasoning to it but it was good. Prices were pretty reasonable and there was plenty of parking. They have their own brewery on site so there is certainly a "hoppy" smell to the restaurant. Service was good, our server was pleasant and prompt.

The food was good, but the beer was great. We were with friends who live in the area (we do not), and we all ordered a meal. The meal was adequate, but we had beer flights and they were tasty. We asked about IBU units, and my wife quipped "It means International British Units" - the waitress was clueless, but agree that must be what it meant. We all laughed, and our friend said "You just made that up didn't you?" (The term is International Bittering Units - so my wife did well...) The point is - the beer is fun, tasty, and the reason to visit. We ate the food, it was fine, but nothing memorable.

3.5 stars but rounding down since I thought the food was really pricey for Manhattan, Kansas! I think this is one of the more expensive restaurants in the city, but they don't have huge portions, so not sure I would fork out the cash to come back here again. In any case, we came in on a Saturday night around 7:30pm, and there was no wait although the restaurant was 75% full and the private room was being used. However, it was a game night, so I'm sure you'd likely have to wait if coming on a normal Saturday night without reservations. We tried: -Certified Angus Beef Slow Roast Prime Rib (Served w/Truffle Fries [+$3.99],Salad Bar, 8 oz, $21.99, yelp.com/biz_photos/litt… ): Good, but nothing special. I'm glad they were able to give us a truly medium rare piece, and that it was seasoned well. However, the truffle fries were gross (not crispy at all, and the truffle flavor tasted off), and I wouldn't pay extra for those. -Rib Eye (Served w/Mashed Potatoes, Salad Bar, 12 oz, $28.99 + Green Peppercorn Sauce, $1.99, yelp.com/biz_photos/litt… ): Again, good, but not amazing. The rib eye was also cooked a good medium rare though, and the green peppercorn sauce was really good (recommended). However, the mashed potatoes were lumpy and flavorless, so skip those. -Salad Bar ($6.49, yelp.com/biz_photos/litt… ): Decent selection of salad fixings, but I didn't like any of the dressings they had available. However, it's definitely worth it to opt for the salad bar versus ordering any of their salads. I also tried a few of their beers: the Koln Kolsh was a little too flavorful for me, but I liked the Wheat, which was light and refreshing. I also tried the Stout, which I actually enjoyed despite not liking stouts much- this one was very smooth and easy to drink. Our server was super friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive, and really improved the overall dining experience. Parking is also easy to find since the lot is really big.

In town for the night, sampler always works at these places. Stout and wheat are very good. Got the meat loaf of beef, veal and pork wrapped in bacon with portabello mushrooms and the 5 cheese mac and cheese. One of the best meals I've had in a while.

Love the food, the beer is just okay. If you're in the mood for steak, but don't want to shell out the bucks for a whole steak dinner, get one of the steak salads...they are fabulous! :) We've been here several times now, and the service is sort of hit or miss (but so far hasn't been terrible). Their brews aren't great - kind of boring, but not undrinkable. We'll definitely keep going back, though!

These Kansas folk sure know how to cook a steak! Melts in your mouth...the way God intended it to be! Despite being off the main highway, I highly recommend this place on a cross country road trip. They never disappoint. The service is great and the laid back atmosphere makes for a Win, Win!!!

I went here with my coworkers and the food was definitely good. I ordered the Steak Frites (medium rare) and it was very tasty. I had them substitute green beans on the side instead of fries - I'd recommend this. The green beans were good. I also ordered a flight of beer that was pretty tasty. I'd definitely come back again next time I'm in Manhattan, KS.

We went here for my birthday with a large group of family. There were about 12 of us and we were seated fairly quickly considering we hadn't called ahead. Service was great and the food was good, but nothing special. Truffle fries are my favorite, normally I don't eat fries at all, and theirs were okay. The beer selection is smaller than we're used to seeing at breweries, but adequate overall. I didn't care for their wheat beers, which is about the only type of beer at breweries I like after growing up in a rural area where Budweiser is the heaviest beer on tap. My boyfriend loves trying any and all beers though and he enjoyed them, but not as much as most other breweries we've been to. It's not our top choice because of the beers, but we'd happily go again if friends wanted us to.

Bottom Line Up Front: Try the truffle fries with the curry ketchup. Check it out if you like micro-brews. Decided to stop in after reading about how awesome the wildcat wheat beer was. Tried it and was not impressed, Leinenkugel's sunset wheat tastes much better. Ordered two items, the truffle fries and the mussels. The fries didn't LOOK special but they were cooked perfectly. The curry ketchup was amazing, wish I could just buy a bottle of it. I will come back here just to get the fries again. The mussels on the other hand were okay. The sauce was very tasty but the mussels were way too small, not worth the price. I've heard the steaks here are pretty good, maybe i'll try it next time I am here indulging in the curry ketchup.

Came for a retirement party. BIG disappointment! The wheat beer was horrible. It was cloudy and tasted like urine. All the beer arrived warm, which seemed off. The appetizer was very small and the hamburgers were RAW. Sent them back to be cooked and they arrived with a burnt bun and the meat still as pink as a my little pony. We told them to take it off our bill as we hadn't had a bite. The server was friendly, tried to get the cooking staff to help. No beans though. Needless to say we won't be going back. Djornos before this place!

Delightful place with a menu ranging from steaks to sandwiches. .. something for most everyone. Amazing Microbrewery PubFare is the norm. Their beers brewed on site are phenominal and they also have a full bar service as well.

Atmospher is nice; staff was nice Salad bar was okay. Clam chowder was very good. Spinach dip was very bland. Food was meh for the price. Steak was cooked right but no flavor Pork chop was small for price and slightly over done. Not sure why it's a local favorite; must be for the beer, which we did not sample and can not review.

I've never really had a high opinion of this place. I've eaten there several times over the last 15 years or so, but the last time sealed it's fate for me in my mind. I ordered the catfish to try something different for a change. I'm usually a chicken strip or burger sort of guy, but I was dressed up more than usual and felt the need to be snobby. So out came the salt with a side of catfish. Holy catfish batman, did I mention the salt? I could not come close to finishing due to the high dosage of salt. There had to be 2000% of the allowed daily value of sodium in that catfish. As far as the beer goes... I tried something, but can't remember what the heck it was because I was highly unimpressed with that as well. Customer service was lacking and they treated us like we were a burden. Ask a question at your own risk. Prices are out of this world ridiculous. With all the new additions in Manhattan this place won't be around forever. It's been on a steady downhill decline for years. The only reason it has survived in my opinion is due to a hundred absolutely loyal customers that refuse to give up their hope that they can relive the 90's by still going here.

If you want a local place with good food and good beer, come out here... If you want to hang out with some cool people that stink after their run, come out on Tuesday. They will be dress in running cloth. If you like margarita, the tequila is strong in them... If you love gravy on your chicken/biscuit; DONT order it. The gravy is just there to look pretty and it is make to order. If you want music, come out on Monday or check the website.

My boyfriend and I each got the 12oz ribeye cooked medium. I got fries and he got the red potatoes. We both got salad bar. While I was unimpressed with the salad bar choices, it was still a decent salad I made for myself. The steaks came out and were delicious and cooked perfectly. They really know how to cook steak there. We also got a seasonal dessert that was bread pudding with a whiskey caramel sauce and it was good but I thought it was a little too sweet. I like how the tables are covered in paper and you have crayons so you can draw on it. I doodled a TRex trying to eat a cat.

This place is not nearly as good as some of the reviews make it out to be. I took my fiance here for his birthday and I left wishing that we had just gone to our frequent stop (Blind Tiger). The beer is mediocre at best. We did the taster and settled on our beers. Since we had another couple with us, we decided to try a few different appetizers : Onion rings, spinach & artichoke dip, and wings. I will agree with other Yelpers and say the onion rings are really good, wasn't really a fan of the wings and the spinach & artichoke dip was just OK. The prices for steak were absolutely insane, I don't care if the cows are grass-fed -- I can still buy grass-fed steaks and cook them myself for a FRACTION of the price. I ended up getting their beer battered fish. It was disgusting.. Absolutely disgusting. Mushy and hardly any fish in the batter. Our waiter chose not to ask me why I hadn't eaten my dinner. My friend got the salad with steak and blue cheese and it was mediocre. She let me try it and I felt like the steak was pretty dry and very bland. My friend's husband got the meatloaf -- It's supposed to have three meats or something in it and a great sauce. To me it tasted like bland meatloaf smothered in plain brown gravy. Nothing special about it at ALL. My fiance got the reuben, mainly because he felt like everything was overpriced and what we had experienced thus far was incredibly underwhelming. We won't be making the drive back to this brewery, ever.

This review is based strictly off of the beer. Having read the reviews for food, I was a little hesitant to try it, so we ate elsewhere and stopped by here for a beer afterwards. This is a nice little micro brew. I enjoyed being able to sit at the bar and watch someone in the back room brewing a batch. We got the seasonal brew, which was a peach wheat. It had a really nice light smooth finish with enough peach to taste, but not to overpower. The other beer we got was the brown ale. This was delicious. It was nice and dark, full of flavor (hints of chocolate, caramel). It was also surprisingly smooth for a brown ale. Most are a lot thicker and heavier. If I was a local I would stop by frequently for a nice cheap ($3) small crafted beer of great quality.

Best brewpub between KC and Denver. Beer is spot on, I am always pleased with the offerings. Food is excellent, and there is a lot of it, but in all fairness ... the salad bar is not top-shelf. But who goes to a brewpub for a salad? Come on. If you have a big party, call WAY ahead, or prepare for a hassle. A member of my party accidentally threw a beer across the table ... the staff fixed his drunk mess quickly. Well handled, thanks. Highly reccomended.

A staple in the manhattan area. Great staff and great food. Kind of pricey but you can tell they care about what they serve. Their rotating beer selection is great and their classic brewed beers are awesome as well. Can't say enough good things about this family owned place.

We have been many times. Today I ordered a ham a and swiss sandwich that was on special. It was really good and made with local ham. The beer is only ok, but the food makes up for it!

I make it a point to visit every brewery/brewpub that I can anywhere I go. I've been to around 85 different places around the country that brew their own beer, so while I don't know everything, I feel like I have a decent handle on the scene. The beer here is not great. It's average at best. I've tried four of their brews, and nothing has struck me as being above average. That doesn't mean bad, it just means that you shouldn't get your hopes up. The food, on the other hand, is bad it is also overpriced. The first place my wife and I ate when we moved to Manhattan was Little Apple Brewing. I paid 30-some dollars for a steak the likes of which I've seen bested in diners at $7.99. Absolutely no doubt that I could make a better, cheaper steak at home. As per the benefit of the doubt, we went once more and had a similar experience.

A fun restaurant to go to, and the food is good. definitely one of the better places in Manhattan.

  • Alex W.

Food is usually great, although a bit over-priced or under-portioned at times. The beer was always very inconsistent when I went. Their "beer club" alienates most customers. My experience with the entire staff was mixed. Sometimes you will get great service, but they really started to act snoody before I stopped going. I no longer go here for personal reasons, but I would say its worth trying. I would not recommend anything on specials menu because they were very pricey with very very small portions.

Had the seasonal Pasture Peach, it was delicious . The Reuben was great as well, fries were ok. Service was great as well . I'll be back again to try some more things that sounded great on their menu!

In summary, I would recommend this restaurant to people who live in Manhattan. I've eaten at the LABC 3 times and I will probably be eating there again in the future. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very comfortable and relax. The beer that they brew is pretty good. Not as good as the micro brews you'll find in Colorado, Michigan, or California, but not bad nonetheless. The reason why I'm only giving this place 3.5 stars (rounding down) is because although the food is decent it's expensive for what you order.

    (3)
  • Charlene J.

I HATE beer but I will drink the flights as LABC in a heart beat. The dark ale is so good and I could have drank it all day. I have not been since our last reunion but plan to get me a bar stool on our next one this October and get me several drinks.

Portable mushroom & steak kebab was very flavorful. An enjoyable balance of meat to vegetables. The salad bar wasn't anything amazing, but it was a nice accompaniment to my meal. The server was friendly. They didn't try to rush us out at the end our meal.

  • Chris B.

Have to go 5 stars on LABCO, not for our experience tonight, but for our overall experience over the last 5 years. Food, beer, service is consistently great. In probably 50 visits we have never gone away disappointed. Great for date night, casual family night or to meet friends. Down side: sometimes it's hard to get a table (are you surprised?)

Good Brie and Mushroom Burger, ok red beer. Service was friendly to indifferent. Atmosphere is cross between strip mall steakhouse, greasy spoon, and bar- seems incoherent.

Stopped in on a whim mid afternoon on a Saturday. Really good appetizers, to include the truffle fries and the potato cakes with smoked salmon. Smoked salmon dish was delicious, but needed more capers. Obviously an execution issue, because the flavors were great! All of their beers were tasty and seemed like they had a very professional flavor to them. The dessert special, a brownie with salted caramel and stout ice cream was fantastic! Service was attentive and friendly. We will be back!

Excellent small plates, especially the scallops and polenta! This place is better than Harry's. I was so happy to find out about the small plates; Midwestern giant helpings of meat and potatoes don't impress me, but good cooking does.

Called to confirm patio was pet friendly, and after driving 30 minutes to restaurant we were told we couldn't have our dog on the patio. Would have been something to mention when they told us that yes it was a pet friendly patio but ohh wait we don't actually allow pets.

    (2)
  • Brice R.

Nice people and a good pub vibe, but sadly the beer falls quite flat. Everything is one-note and tastes like fermented flavored water. Tried the flight, and only one of them had any developed flavors. Guess I've been spoiled by the Colorado craft scene.

  • Greg S.

Got the steak nachos. The cheese was good, but we counted literally 5 tiny pieces of steak on the entire plate of nachos. And the teensy cup of salsa was ridiculous. The staff and food seem like they have lost their desire to please. Too bad, so much potential.

What we ordered: Truffle Fries Dads Burn Best Cheddar and Beef Hoagie Open-face Steak Sandwich KC Strip Bison Brown Ale The reviews said this restaurant was $$, which as a poor (cheap) college student, Applebee's pricing were expected. The sandwiches were a bit pricier but not too bad, however the steak prices were way over expectation. According to my friend, who ordered the KC Strip, the steak was amazing but for $40 for 12 oz. was just out of my budget. The truffle fries with curry ketchup was my absolute favorite, the hoagie was small but between the fries and the huge heaping of German potato salad, I couldn't finish my meal. The Bison brown ale is exactly what I want from a beer. It hit a little strong on an empty stomach, but had a rich taste without a bitter finish.

Surprisingly good steak. Service was as it should be. Prompt, friendly and attentive. The brews were "okay". Nothing special. I'll be back for the food but will probably skip the house brews.

You know someone has really BEEN to Manhattan when they know the Little Apple Brewing Company. They've upgraded their menu a lot since I was younger, and it's all for the better. Their burgers are incredible, and they have a lot of interesting or 'foodie' sounding foods as well, which is always nice to see. The staff are always kind and helpful. There is a ton of seating, but it gets plenty busy so there's quite often a wait around dinner times. The beer is mostly average but every once in a while there is something that will stand out among their limited or seasonals. They have cheap growler refills one day a week (I believe it's Tuesday if I remember right, but don't quote me on that). Overall, it's always a place I think about when I'm back in Manhattan and looking for a place to eat because they brew local beers and have great food.

  • Diana C.

Their rotating specials menu is great - the only thing is that they're always out of the special (swordfish, ribs, etc.) by the time I get there! Come earlier than 7:30 PM for dinner on Sundays if you want to try their specials. My favorite entree is the Krabby Patty sandwich. Delicious crabcake and remoulade on perfectly toasted bread, YUM. Service here is variable - sometimes fantastic, sometimes so-so.

    (4)
  • Courtney K.

Very good steaks. We usually go here on nits when everyone else is busy because they actually will tell people to leave if they have been sitting too long at a table after their meal is over and they are just talking (which would be a downfall if I ever had a big group). This is a good place to hold a private event because you get great service and a quiet private room. They can sometimes undercook their meat, so a great tip is to order the one up than you normally would (medium=medium rare anywhere else).

    (4)
  • Ryan S.

Those of you coming in town for any of the remaining football games need to stop by and grab a growler of wildcat wheat. Pass on Famous Dave's off Seth Child and Fort Riley, I know it's tempting but head to LABC a little further down Seth Child. The food is what you'd expect, fresh top-grade beef and plenty of beer. -Wildcat alum on the West Coast

This is the place to go in Manhattan KS if you like classic Beer recipes and delicious food. If you listen to nothing else order the Truffle Fries. They are worth every penny. Their burgers are good, and their sandwiches are delicious. This little gem is ideal if you want to take someone out to chat and sip a few beers, just order the truffle fries and enjoy the conversation with a few pints.

I went to LABco a LOT when I lived in Manhattan and I go frequently when I come back to visit. There are two reasons why I can't give it any more than 3 stars, though. 1) A lot of their beer is great, but their Wildcat Wheat is really inconsistent and not very crisp. Not having a superb wheat beer in Kansas is sort of...a problem. I once ordered a pint of it and it literally tasted like the yellow "butter" you put on your popcorn at the movies. I've tasted it once or twice since and, while not as terrible as that first time, it still just doesn't make the grade for a Kansas-made wheat beer. 2) They once screwed me over really bad with a huge party reservation that I had made months and months in advance and which I had called to confirm twice before my graduation day. When we arrived after graduation, the place was packed (naturally) and, despite my having confirmed the reservation twice, they didn't have me down. My party of 12 had to wait for 45 minutes to be squeezed into a long booth that normally accommodates 6. It was a terrible experience comfort-wise and they didn't offer us anything to make up for their mistakes. Otherwise, the brown and red beers are delicious and the food is really very good.

Truffled Steak Frites - Greatest attraction is the selection of beers they have. Regular or seasonal. Some great and some experimental but all for a try. Food menu follows the same great trend. Regular menu has great appetizers and steaks. Seasonal menu changes often too. Have some interesting new (exotic) menu items. Family dinning is for sure a good place. Not exactly a form business dinner, but great to meet with friends for casual get together.

    (5)
  • Floyd M.

Gotta give it up to the Wildcat Wheat and the IPA. Food ain't too bad either, rather tasty if you press me on it. But back to the beer...the Wildcat Wheat tastes like a summer day on a back country road in the middle of a farm! Maybe if you were to combine the Wheat and the IPA, I may have to pop in once a week. Hops are Wheat's best friend!

  • Ophelia Y.

So I went in expecting something fantastic--slightly disappointed. The reviews made me think that this was going to be the greatest thing since sliced bread, but alas, no so much. It was decent, don't get me wrong, but it was not 5 star worthy. Maybe I'm just spoiled by great food in Portland, that Kansas was a bit lacking. There was no wait for seating, which was great, but should've been the first indicator of mediocrity. We ordered a beer--don't remember which it was, but it wasn't that impressive. I ordered the chicken fried steak, and my friend ordered the steak sandwich. 4 stars for the steak sandwich--it was pretty tasty, 3 stars for the chicken fried steak (too salty!), and 2 stars for the beer. Another 2 stars for the dessert menu. It didn't taste like a home cooked meal--but like a Denny's trying too hard to be something it's not. Good, but not great.

The Little Apple Brewing Company is where the greasy burger meets the sit-down dining experience. The food was fine. Do not order the German potato salad as a side dish; it's one thing to have bacon as an ingredient, but the aroma of pig was overpowering the mash (don't worry, this side didn't go to waste; the bull dog back at the house was thrilled with the bacon to potato ratio). My husband's reuben was a little light on the thousand island dressing, but overall was good. We were mostly just happy to find a restaurant that makes a real reuben (let's be clear: corned beef with sauerkraut and thousand island on rye with a dill pickle on the side. no substitutions or it's not really a reuben). My favorite thing about the place was the paper table cloth with crayons. I drew a picture of Mickey Mouse while I was waiting for the food.

I worked here for almost 2 years, and I loved it. It was probably my favorite college job. It has a great atmosphere and we all worked hard to help each other out and give good service. Foods I Would Recommend: California Turkey Wrap, TONS of fries with spicy ranch for dipping sauce, chicken tenders with spicy ranch, CCQ, nachos with chili on top, and of course the Wildcat Wheat beer. Enjoy!

I used to really like this place, but they've gotten a little too proud of their product with their prices. With that in mind, though, the beers are usually pretty good & my food is pretty good.

  • Erica A.

This place is cool, good beer and good food for a college town. The steaks are too pricey, but everything else is priced ok. The booths that run down the middle of the restaurant are very uncomfortable, so sit at a table if you have the chance! I ordered the sirloin medium well. It was cooked medium. It was okay, but not worth the price charged. It came with green beans which were seasoned nicely. If I come again, I will get a sandwich and a beer!

This restraunt/bar is wonderful! Good for family, friends, or date night. Typical bar food but also tasty fancy type foods. The presentation was beautiful. My 4 yr old had the cheese pizza, my husband had a steak pizzetta, and I had the salmon----all very good. We tried the Porter and it was very good as well. Be sure to leave with a growler. U can fill them up on Tuesday's for $6! Oh, and try the creme brûlée!

The microbrewery/restaurant experience usually goes one of two ways: either you enjoy the beer and hate the food; or you hate the beer and enjoy the food. At Little Apple Brewing Company, they manage to do both. Since I'm new in town (and didn't bother with the flight of brews) I haven't tasted all the beers but I really enjoyed what I've had so far. Whether it's the IPA, the Wheat, or the Red you can't go wrong (so yeah, I've got a few more to try) As for the food, their steaks are accurately prepared and I have yet to meet a steak I deem inferior. They keep the salad bar pretty fresh, and specials depend on the evening. Service is efficient as it seems they shoot for high turnover, but that's not to say you feel rushed out at the end. It is a brewery and as long as the beer is flowing, good times are had.

    (5)
  • Jon W.

Great place to grab a reasonable meal and great beer. Micro-brews are cool these days just because they are cool, Little Apple's are great because it is good beer. The specials menu with local ingredients and all USDA Grade A make the food well above par in Manhattan KS or anywhere. Atmosphere is part pub part road house and enjoyable.

I can't believe I've lived here for 3 years and finally just got to this excellent restaurant. Arrived on a super busy evening, just after KSU's opening football game. Because there were only two of us, we were able to sit right down (skipped long line out the door) and sat in the bar area. Nice booth, didn't have to sit at the bar. I ordered pork chop, my wife, Aziah, had Fish & Chips. Both were sublime. The best pork chop I've ever had. Salad bar was fresh and well stocked, not a wilted leaf in sight. Nice touch: staff puts soft butter in little cups to serve with the warm fresh rolls. Not the frozen foil-wrapped things I've gotten at fancy restaurants. We went back the very next day for early dinner. Mussels appetizer, duck breast (Daily Special) and burrito for the wife. Everything was excellent again. The duck was unreal, perfectly done. Fresh herbs grown out in front of restaurant.

I don't really see why this place has been rated so high. It's probably because it's one of the very few places you would take someone on a date if you wanted some place nicer and not a chain restaurant in Manhattan. Anyways I have been here 3 times, all times I have not been enthused about what I ordered. I have gotten the country fried steak (can't really mess this dish up but it was just ok here), open face steak sandwich (again can't mess up this dish but again it was just ok and the steak was a little chewy), and the greek salad with steak (steak was overcooked and chewy). I would say if you want a steak go somewhere else, it's way overpriced here and not really great quality. But if you are looking for beer and appetizers then this is probably the place for you.

This place is AMAZING! I love the atmosphere. Overall the menu is decently priced. I read reviews on who good the steaks were and was nervous to order one as I thought they were pricey and typically my husband & I can grill a better steak than most places; however the steak was well worth the cost!!!! One of the best steaks I have ever had. I love the Wildcat Wheat Beer! This place had it all, great food and great beer!

I love this place....I stop here every time I'm back in town. The beer selection is great (there's a few misses now and then, but the good ones more than make up for it). The food is everything from bar food to great steaks to more upscale nightly specials. They have some great salads as well. I just love the relaxed atmosphere and can't imagine a trip to Manhattan without visiting LABCO.

The service that we received was rather mediocre... there were 6 of us in town to celebrate a relative's graduation, and the server didn't seem too happy to be there, but at least the food somewhat made up for this. We were all pleased with our meals. The menu has a very wide selection. For instance, as an appetizer, one could order chicken tenders, or mussels in a delicious white sauce; something for everyone here. My chipotle turkey wrap had good ingredients and a tasty sauce. I don't claim to be an expert on the area, as this was my first trip there, but this place is probably one of the better options that this area has to offer.

Every time I'm in Manhattan I go to the Little Apple Brewery. I order the Fish and Chips and LOVE IT!!! It is Yummy for my Tummy. The Fish and Chips meal is one of their specialty items on the menu. Other items include Smothered Steak and Black Bean Burrito, Portabella Ravioli with Grilled Chicken, Southern Fried Catfish, Ale-battered Shrimp Platter, and Chicken Fried Steak. They also have a Steak and Entree section if you are in the mood for some certified Angus Beef. Or if you are in the mood for a salad there are about 8 different kinds to choose from. Did I mention they also serve Burgers, Sandwiches, Pizza, Soups, and Appetizers...oh and they have a kids section on the menu too! The service was good and the waitress was very nice. Each time I have been there I always get good service and those waitresses are cute but work hard and do a great job! One more thing. They have a crap-load of beers to choose from. I don't drink so I really can't comment on the beers. Good times at the Little Apple!! Give them a try.

Looking at the past reviews, I see a pattern for which I must concur... the place is inconsistent. Bartenders are unfriendly "bros" who seem to know little about the styles of beer they are serving. BUT the beers are generally good - brewer has skills. Food is generally good - BUT - there are bad days. I am a creature of habit and often gravitate to a couple of dishes over and over. Definitely changed from time to time. Table wait staff were friendly, helpful & knowledgeable. Salad bar is good. Atmosphere is wooden-booth, white table cloth w/ beer can collection behind bar kind of place...so dress as you like. Screaming babies and tables full of iced tea (just dont get the baby thing at a brewery) are commonplace during rush hour - avoid it if that irks you, too. Worth visiting - if you like it, you'll no doubt return.

Beer is good. Okay now that we have that out of the way, LABCO's beer is really good too. I am not a fan of all of their brews, but their stout and porters have my attention, and I ordered a red the other day-havent done that in years! (They had a seasonal vanilla porter that was kickin' too) We've hit this place up three times in Adhana T's short stint in Manhattan and every time we've driven there I have been put off by the exterior. (Reminds me of a strip mall where I did some demo back in high school, the offices we were renovating had been inhabited by a bevy of chain smokers for something like 20 years and the walls were stained with nicotine. Like catfish, it still gives me the heebie jeebies, but I digress) So yeah, from the outside it doesn't look like much. From the inside it doesn't look like much either, and my expectations are always middling, and I am always pretty impressed. Memphis Ribs, burgers, crab patty sandwich and the 'wurst' have all been hits for our crew. Did I mention their beers? Yeah, we may have moved from Colorado, and been spoiled but are not Colorado micro-brew snobs, given all that though, and even if we were, LABCO could hold their own. Their brewer does create some interesting flavors, and I'd agree with Brian W. in that some of their stuff may be an acquired taste, but I can say that they have all been pretty unique and original. We've not had a bad meal here yet, and while I cant say that its the best restaurant in Manhattan until I eat at them all, its in our rotation. (Gotta hit it some day just to drink, too)

I am here at least once a week, if just for a beer. The beer is consistently great-- the brewer experiments with many different seasonal varieties- some amazing, some not-so-wonderful, but all are fun to try at least once. Food- good, but not blow-you-out-of-the-water. The chef has started doing nightly specials that generally aren't in the 'bar food' realm which has been a really great addition to a solid menu.

Scenario: Dinner on a Wednesday night on a business trip to recruit at K State. Price: Food was a little over $10 and the drinks were appropriately priced. Portions were very good, not over-done but filling. Service: All the waitresses are cute and friendly - always a plus. The "Best of the Wurst" sausage trio was awesome. Black Angus Stout is my new favorite beer! Imagine Guinness, but creamier and more of a coffee, chocolate kind of flavor. Amazing! Atmosphere: A feeding trough! Seriously though, reminds me a bit of Cracker Barrel inside (and not just because it was full of sausage devouring, beer guzzling, caucasian midwesterners). Old fashioned wood tables and wood flooring. Uniquity: Microbreweries are always unique for their atmosphere and this one adds the best beer I've ever tasted. They also sell kegs of their beer at what look to be reasonable prices.

I've dined many times at LABCO, and mostly from the chef's special menu which is usually very good to excellent. In fact, I've written a very positive review before but this is a warning: the steak kabob, at $20.99 the steak tips should have been trimmed better. My plate had six large chunks of Angus beef cooked medium rare. So far so good. The first piece was divine. The next had quite a bit of connective tissue in it. Out of six there were two good pieces and the rest were not good, one was like rubber and some of that stuff from the other pieces - if you had it in your mouth it felt like the longer you chewed the bigger it became. ugh. never again. oh yeah, the baked potato was not quite done. so even that was not enjoyable. A bad experience at a place where I've come to expect much better. You may wonder why I did not complain while I was there...because I ate two pieces, was full and took the rest home only to find out how poor that $21 worth of Angus really was.

I don't know what I was thinking I guess I missed a good PHO' so much that I saw it on the special menu and got a $13 bowl of chicken noodle soup that I basically had to fight the flies the whole time to try and eat. It was bad. I know I am in a new town and shouldn't expect much but Damn. Did I also mention that I ordered fries prior and my soup showed up first? I was like WTF. Did I mention the damn flies? And I am sorry to say the beer here is mediocre. I am yet to find a good one. Their wheat is okay, their Pale is Sweet and not good and I dare waste my time on the other beers. I guess it's what my dad always said, don't order steak at a seafood place and expect the best. Okay I am done bitching and I will come back. Don't rate this place on the specials come in for the usual stuff and you won't be sorry.

This is the best place to take your out-of-town guest for a taste of Kansas beef and beer. The steaks and burgers are delicious because they have the authenticity of a home-cooked meal...but definitely not something I could make at home. Kids are very welcome here; each table is fitted with a paper table cloth and includes a glass full of crayons so that children are kept busy decorating the table cloth.

This is a nice neighborhood restaurant with steaks and burgers for the carnivores and Greek and Mediterranean salads for vegetarian types (most if not all salads can be made veg). There are also nightly specials that have been very good--mussels, smoked salmon, kebabs are a few examples. That said the other night I ordered the chicken tortilla soup and was disappointed that it was more like a spicy tomato soup than chicken tortilla. I was not a fan.

Food is too pricey for mediocre food. Burger was not that flavorful and other places offer better for less.

Awesome steak, though pricy for sure, and great service. Got the "ridiculously huge bratwurst" and it was a little hard to eat, but good. We will definitely be back. :)

Great food! Never disappointed with this place! Staff is friendly and helpful... you can even color on the tables! (kid-friendly!) It's a great place for groups as well. We've been there a few times and our food makes it out very quickly, no matter how many people we have! They have a nice banquet room (which we'll be using for our rehearsal dinner), it holds up to 52 people and if you're renting the room privately it's a $900 minimum... Hope this helps & I would definately recommend this place!!

Seriously, try the truffle fries with the aoli. Awesome, could have eaten two orders!!! I don't do beer but my husband likes the Flight of Tasters. My favorite meal there is the Mediterranean Steak salad with the hummus and pita bread on the side. My only wish? I wish they wouldn't always use all the fancy salad greens, a little bit of regular head lettuce torn up would NOT be a bad thing. :-)

Avarege food. Good beer. Waiters would try to get you out of the door as soon as possible. Probably within an hour. Every time we went after the meal they brought you the check without even asking if you want dessert or another beer.

The food and atmosphere is relaxing at the Little Apple Brewing Co. The food is good (I have only had the sandwiches...) and the beer is really good. I enjoy the relaxed BrewPub environment and I have always had good, pleasant service there.

I had a friend who worked here for years and I had heard about this place for years. Even with special treatment from my friend when I visited once and regular treatment when I visited without it though I was not impressed by the food or the environment.

Food is decent. If you like un-carbonated beer this is the place for you! Beer tastes like they use liquid malt (partial mash) and they fail to adequately carbonate for the most part. Worth a trip but keep your expectations low.

I ordered my burger medium-rare and it came out medium-well, would've sent it back if I was the kind of guy who sends back dishes. This aside, it was a good burger, with well-seasoned, quality beef. Prairie Pale Ale tasted bad to me: stale-tasting and too sweet, gave it away to a friend who didn't mind that. Their stouts made up for it. The better of the two I had was the XX Black Angus, which was very smooth with some bitterness. I forget the name of the other, a seasonal which was a more easy-drinking Guinness type. Friendly enough place.

when i used to be in the army stationed at fort riley, kansas, i used to venture to manhattan every weekend, for that's the closest town that offers big city amenities in a small town package. whenever my friends and i wanted to treat ourselves to a nice dinner, we went here for the good steaks, great beer and nice atmosphere. the service here was always good for being how busy they are and ever since i moved back to seattle, the price for the entrees are very reasonable compared to the same kind of restaurants here in seattle. if you're a student at k-state, a soldier at fort riley, a resident of the manhattan area, this is the place to go to take your friends and family for dinner, just about everything there is tasty and delicious.
