Solid and diverse selection of tex-mex entrees. I went several times during my time in Manhattan and was never disappointed. Only criticisms are seating - establishment is tiny and can not accommodate large groups whatsoever AND their sushi nights are a joke. Sushi is terrible and not worth the money. Definitely go during their Sangria nights. $6 for a carafe (normally $15) attracts large crowds so be prepared to wait for a while, but it is definitely worth it. I preferred the white sangria to the red just because I don't like red wine at all. The queso, nachos, crab and bean quesadilla and pizza fresca were my absolute favorite dishes. highly recommend those over everything else. If I could only go to one restaurant in Manhattan, this is it.

Seeing as I live in southern California, I know good mexican food when I see it. This place is tex-mex, but if you know that going in (and you don't expect traditional mexican) it's delicious! I came here with the bf on a Sunday for a late afternoon lunch. We sat outside on the patio where it was nice and breezy. The server was fast and attentive and kept my water glass full. We split the nachos for an appetizer and they were GOOOOOOOOOD! I highly recommend the nachos. They were so good, in fact, that I really didn't need to order an entree because I was pretty filled up after that. Not that I let that stop me, though... I ordered the Tijuana Trainwreck which is a chicken-beans-corn-tortilla-salsa concoction that comes out on a skillet. It was also really good, which made it even more of a shame that I was already full from the nachos when it arrived. The bf ordered the carne asada beef (btw, carne asada should ALWAYS be beef; chicken is pollo asado!) and that was also really good, but, again, not traditional at all. The carne asada was just really good tasting and flavorful beef, but not really a lot of spices or marinade on it (but I didn't think it needed it). And the roasted peppers and onions that came with it were very tasty. The food came out fast but still was fresh, and my margarita on the rocks was just strong enough for the afternoon after a big football game. Not the largest beer selection, but the bf found something he could down as well (Dos Equis). I really enjoyed my meal at Coco Bolos and I would come back if I find myself in Manhattan again.

Definitely a tasty place to relax with friends after work and enjoy some cocktails. The food is great, as well as the atmosphere. Be prepared to wait for a table on the weekends, but it's worth it. Outdoor seating, good service, a nice big bathroom..all bonuses!! You can see them cooking behind the glass, a good thing for making sure all is clean..well, if you're a little OCD.

I love this place. my favorite is the black and white pizza!!! So good. I always enjoy the atmosphere and like to look at the decor. If its nice the patio is the perfect place to sit and have a Sangria. Perfect location and easy to get to and watch people drive by.

Small space, but food is worth the wait. It's fun sitting at the bar! The booths are cozy. Check in for specials like Sangria night, 1/2 price specialty pizzas, etc. I recommend the Pizza Al Fresca, the Seafood Tacos and the Salsa Trio.

Having heard about this place for a long time I was expecting great things when I ate there a few years ago. The outside patio was nice, but other than that I was not impressed with the place and the food was average.

Good. I usually order the jerk chicken. Pretty spicy, but they do it right. My chicken has been overlooked a few times, but I usually just scrape off the burnt skin anyways.

Great margarita's, or so I think. I had a few. The food was fresh and the drinks were really nicely done, strong enough yet great flavors. When in the mood for Mexican in Kansas, this is the place!

A three and a half star... Found my way here through Yelp. Saw it had good reviews and figured, why not? Ordered the Stacked Enchiladas, per waitress' recommendation. The food was served fast (lunch time) and it was fresh and tasty. It's a very good portion. So for $9, you have yourself a meal that should last you all day. I can see why KSU students love the place. Close to campus and very colorful. A bit too Chili's for me but I get the whole "Mexican" theme...

Please note they only take reservations on Valentine's and New Year's. Everything else is first come first serve. Had a little wait, but the host would bring you drinks if you wanted. Smaller than expected but the food was sensational. Until now, I had not found a decent mexican place and trust, this place delivered. Guacamole dip and salsa sampler were tasty, drinks were always topped off even though it was busy....impressive. I had the Tijuana Trainwreck, corn tortillas with chicken, chili, cheese, etc....damn good! My man had the Cox burrito and it was massive. They give pretty big portions and food was served in a timely manner, Loved it!

I was in the mood for some tex-mex food and a friend suggested Coco Bolo's. We got there around 5:45 and it was already crowded! It is a popular place and the size of the restaurant is really small. But don't let that stop you from going there...you will like it! The have a wide variety of items to choose from. We started off with chips and salsas (three different salsas) and then I ordered the Chicken Enchiladas and my friend got the Chicken Wrap. The only thing I didn't like was the rice because it was a little sticky and kinda had that gummy texture. My friend enjoyed her Chicken Wrap and the sauce that comes with it. If I come back to Manhattan for another visit I will stop by again.

The Chicken And Proscuitto Tortellini is the best thing I've had on the menu. I also love the pizzas. All the food is very flavorful and delicious. One of the best local places in Manhattan.

My favorite place in the Little Apple. A local took me here for my first time and I loved it. Years later I tried it again and I still love it. Food is good, flavorful and just enough spice. Service was great. It certainly has character and I love that you can see the chef's at work, they're a part of the restaurant and not hidden. We all loved our dishes and would recommend them, they were the Coco's Q, club sandwich w/ portobello mushroom, chicken enchiladas and black & white pizza.

This place is lively and energetic. The Tijuana Trainwreck tastes much much better than it sounds!

Food was so so, the hype about this place is just that. Two bad experiences were enough for me to write them off. 1. A male manager lounging/hovering over our plates which were ready to be served while chatting up the female wait staff who was probably wishing she could just bring us our food avoid this annoying dude. 2. A kitchen fire shut things down mid meal. Sorry the sorority and parent dinner crowd that frequent can have this place.

I came here with a large group at lunch and our server had us in and out within an hour. I ordered this thai pork with noodles. I thought the flavor of thai peanut sauce and BBQ sauce created this sweet and spicy thing. Though, it was more spicy than sweet. I wish the dish had more vegetables in it. There were about 5 sprigs of broccoli. Their chips and salsa appetizer was extremely delicious. Overall decent food.

For my taste and pallet, the Black and White pizza is the best pizza in town. Pair it with a glass of the 312 ale, and you're in heaven. The combination of cheese, beans, and peppers is out of this world. I've also become a fan of the Tijuana Trainwreck, a mash-up of cheese, meat, peppers and sauces. I don't recall all that's in it, but love it. I've been going to CB's since it opened and I've never been disappointed. And since Manhattan banned smoking in restaurants and year or two ago, it's even better. You will not be disappointed. Unless you want to try dessert. The portion sizes are big enough that you have to plan ahead, take half of your entree home, in order to have enough room.

As this restaurant is advertised as mexican it is more Caribbean food. The flavors were good but don't go in expecting dirty mexican food.

Pros: Food came out fast, there was a lot of it, and the waitress stopped by often to check in. Cons: The atmosphere made it feel like a "dive" trying to look fancy. There was absolutely no parking, I had to walk a few blocks. The Food: I had the steak. It was a good sized portion, but it was too fatty and salty for my taste. The potatoes au-gratin were on the side, they were good. Three stars, because nothing stood out to me. If the food was better, I would have given it four stars.

Seating for 100. Parking for 5. You do the math! But, I love the Bolos Fajita Quesadilla. My college freshman loved the nachos. Service was average. This place has a lot of potential.

This place still rocks in my book. I came here with a couple of newbies who have never been to this place, & they loved it! After being gone from Manhappiness for a year, this place still has the best chips & salsa anywhere. Their baja chicken & shrimp wraps with jalapeno ranch is sooo delish! I have cravings for it. Oh, how I miss you Coco Bolos! The blend of cuisines is just about right & not too spicy I might add.

My wife and I were very disappointed. While the flavors were good it was no where close to what we expect for a $50 dinner. She had the mixed grill and I have the dinner Taco plate. All of the meat we had was very over cooked. Her shrimp was burned. I requested a cranberry juice which was served in a mixed drink class and charged as if it were. The staff were friendly. My impression was that cooks just were not paying attention to what they were doing!

Coco Bolo's is a great place to sit back, relax, and get driz-unk! Not really, but that's what I did. :) Their atmosphere was poppin' and service was great. I vaguely remember having a pasta dish, my husband had something and a cheesecake... then I finished the night with some alcoholic coffee drink...hmmm.... Someone check me into AA.

Good food and great outdoor seating. If you go for the Sushi on Tuesday, order two rolls. They are "light" if you know what I mean. The other dishes are rather large and a very popular place.

It doesn't get any better than this in Manhattan. For Tex-Mex, I've never found anywhere better, period.

This place does a great job of mixing multiple cultures into one menu. It's one of the most creative places i've ever eaten. yeah, and the food is freakin awesome!!! The only bad thing about this place is it's really small so you may have to wait on the weekends.

  • Cole M.

When I was in college I loved CB, but since I have left and returned every once in awhile, it is losing it's luster. Don't get me wrong, this is one of the better local restaurants in Manhattan, but it slowly becoming my last favorite in Manhattan.

  • Drew I.

Great staff, clean restaurant, high-energy place. However, avoid the shrimp dishes. The shrimp dishes were overpriced and the shrimp were shitty. They attempt to disguise the CostCo, Inc.-ness of the shrimp by doping it up with spicy "southwestern sauce". Skip it. Order the Tijuana Whorehouse. Sorry...Tijuana Trainwreck. Honest mistake. One more thing: I ordered the shrimp po-boy and the basterdz gave me a f*ckin' joke of a sandwich! A hotdog bun with four shrimp is not a po-boy. Everything else was great.

This is my favorite MHK restaurant. Start out with the Coco's Q. It's not your typical queso because it's actual cheese, not an artificial sauce. My favorite entree is the stacked enchiladas. Slow roasted pork in a chile sauce and cheese layered between corn tortillas. So Delicious. Parking is a pain here but you can always park over my Varney's or on campus somewhere and make the short walk over.

    (5)
  • Wanda L.

Love this place. The only downfall is they are ALWAYS packed. but thats a good thing in my opinion. Parking is non existant as well. Black bean crab quesadilla is the bomb diggity.

I love this place. Esp. on wednesday nights when pitchers of sangria are $5. Their mexican entrees are great and for funky atmosphere, it is about as good as it gets in Manhattan.

soooo good! Thought about eating here twice in one day. Good variety on the menu, good service, and most importantly good food

    (5)
  • Jennifer D.

So many good choices on the menu.... favorites are the enchiladas, tacos, bolos bananas and crab quesadillas. Best Sangria in town, especially on Wednesday nights ($5 Carafs). Sushi on Tuesday evenings, which is pretty good. Sunday brunch is excellent as well.

An oasis of flavor in an otherwise bland food world that seems to be much of Kansas. Coming from California, we hoped to find a place that served decent Mexican food, and this seemed to be it. After days of eating nothing but food covered in gravy, the food at Coco Bolo seemed light and flavorful. The tacos had great flavor and were even spicy, which was a welcomed treat. The fried banana dessert is a must have too.

If you were to ask me what I miss most about living in Manhattan, my answer would be Coco Bolo's, HANDS DOWN! I have dreams about the cheesy heaven that is the Coco's Q. No matter where I go or how hard I try, I cannot replicate this dip! The top is browned and bubbly but once you get past the top layer you are greeted with creamy flavorful goodness. I have yet to order a dish I didn't like. The portions are large, the food is fresh, and the prices are reasonable. My favorite is the black bean and crab quesadilla, it's great all on its own but the jalapeño ranch steps it up a notch. My fiancé has only experienced this restaurant once and still raves about the enchilada stack. This place is a must when I'm in town and I often joke to my fiancé about making the 3.5 hour trek to just eat here. However, I'm only half joking, I really would drive here just to get my fix!

Solid food. Stopped in today for lunch. The Mr. had the tiajuana train-wreck. Really liked. Had a lot of meat mixed in and a good balance of beans & all the fixings. I had the lunch special - pork tacos with pineapple salsa with navajo rice and bolo beans. Great dish. Definitely a great spot!

This is one of my favorite places to go for Mexican ! It not only has Mexican but seafood, and vegetarian options as well. Great atmosphere inside; you can watch the chefs cooking, and outside on their patio is perfect for the warm weather. I would definitely recommend going there to someone.

By far best eats and drinks in Manhattan, KS. This place just always terrific. Don't be confused by place of same name in Leawood....no remote connection...place in Leawood sucks big time food wise. K-States Coco Bolos consistently excellent in food and service for years. I guaranty you will love love love it !

Really good food. They do a creative twist on some Mexican food and they are generous with the cheese. Their special black beans and rice is delicious, with a bit of what tasted like coconut. Great guacamole MD their strawberry lemonade is so yummy. Great service and I loved sitting out in the enclosed patio.

Bottom Line Up Front: Food comes out fresh and fast. Fairly priced cocktails. Good variety of dishes to chose from. Conveniently located next to Moro St. My fiances' co-worker really talked this place up so we been meaning to check it out for some time now. Came on a Friday night at around 830pm and half of the restaurant was empty (apparently no one goes to Aggieville until 1030pm or later), guess I am just an old man now. As you come into the restaurant, you walk pass a fairly large patio area. Once inside, there are booths and high tops to the left and right with the kitchen and bar on the far side. We were seated immediately and took our time looking over the menu. The wait staff was very attentive and friendly. No issues during our dinner. I ordered the Beer Margarita and the Chicken Mole Wrap. The food came out lightning fast - less than 10 minutes. The the food was hot and fresh, which made it more impressive. Each of our wraps came with a ranch-base sauce that complimented the wrap very well. My chicken mole wrap was awesome. All the ingredients came together well and had a spicy kick to it. The beer-garita was great (they used XX) and reasonably priced. There are a lot to chose from on their menu so we will definitely be coming back to see how some of the other dishes taste. So, if your looking for a quick quality dinner around Aggieville, try this place out. For two wraps and two cocktails, the price was about $32 - not bad at all.

First and probably only yelp review. I wouldn't order from here on wildcat 2 go. Especially after 8 o'clock I guess. My meal looked like a child threw it together. Got the jerk chicken wrap...won't be trying it again.

This place is located right down the street from k-state in Aggieville and is defiantly their best kept secret ! I always love coming here for a pitcher of sangrias, some black bean salsa and Caribbean BBQ shrimp. They whole restaurant is warmed by a wood fired grill that is pretty cool to watch them cook on. The wait staff is extremely friendly and the bartender is always great company. The place feels like something that you would find on the beach and not in the suburbs of Kansas and the menu items are always original!

My favorite place in Manhattan! A fantastic blend of flavors & eclectic menu. Great bar - I recommend Long Island iced tea, my favorite. Also, the combo sampler is a mix of their homemade salsa, guacamole and out of this world original cheese tip. They have everything from tacos, salads, pizza, pasta and much more, all with unique flavors in a fun atmosphere! Also, if you like dessert coco bananas are amazing!!! Some deals if you go for drinks after 10 pm. My suggestion would be to go without kids, it's a date night kind of place. Small with fantastic food and an amazing atmosphere. Highly recommend if you are ever in Manhattan.

This was my second trip here but my first time actually eating since it was too long of a wait and the male host was rude (acted like we weren't good enough to come in and eat) Came in on a Friday and it was fairly busy and got sat in the corner at the bar. Bar staff took forever just to get a bottle of beer because he was too preoccupied with flirting to the waitresses. I ordered the stacked enchiladas. Plate was so hot it made the bottoms of the tortillas too hard to eat. Rice was under cooked and hard but the beans were good. Bartender gave me the check before I was ready to leave which was fine because I didn't want to sit in the corner anymore. I probably won't give this place a third chance especially on a weekend.

I tried their Tijuana Trainwreck, which was tasty. It came with sliced potatoes, shredded chicken and gobs of cheese, and a small pan of shredded chicken, black beans, chili, an assortment of other Tex-Mex ingredients covered in more cheese.haha. It was not an overly large entree, but left me satisfied. Coco Bolos: A Tex-Mex restaurant with absolutely no Mexicans (restaurant workers; and at the time of my visit - patrons). What is up with that? Oh wait, this is Kansas. Way to overly represent the "Tex "side, and co-opt and own Tex-Mex cuisine as fully your own (rolls eyes).

Very tasty and original rendition of tex-mex with a southwest (NM maybe?) flair. Great bar, Sangria is NUMMY! One of my favorite places while living in the area - still memorable after all these years. It's small - be prepared to wait if its busier hours. All reviews below cover it...you wont be disappointed.

Technically, the five star rating is appropriate for Coco Bolos because it really is as good as it can get in Manhattan. But really, I give it four because I've definitely been better places. I also drop a star because every Tuesday, they serve some alien form of what they call "sushi". Don't expect much if you order it. Many locals might enjoy it, but that is only because there are no other sushi places in town. Coco Bolos is a great place to take guests who are visiting Manhattan to prove to them that not every restaurant is a steakhouse. The Tex-Mex-Caribbean fusion is varied enough for everyone's taste.

We just left here and were thoroughly impressed. I walked in with a group of 18 without calling ahead and they had no problems getting us seated and served quickly. The staff was super friendly and helpful and didn't seem to mind the sudden large group at all. And the food was fantastic. I had the fish and shrimp taco combo and was very satisfied. Everyone in my group echoed my thoughts as well. If we're out this way again we'll be sure to return.

This place has great food! The service could've been better as they obviously didn't have enough people on staff. My waitress was honest, and attentive. My food was piping hot and delicious. I had the breakfast burrito and finished the entire beast! The refried beans were perfect. I also ordered a $4 Bloody Mary and it was good but could've been better. I will definitely come back to coco bolos if I visit Manhattan again.

The food was delicious here. My waitress was very knowledgeable about the food and gave me several recommendations. I settled on the Trainwreck and was not disappointed. The food was delivered quickly and my glass of ice water was never empty. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was that getting to the parking lot was quite a hassle. I had to try 3 times before I found the trick to getting to the parking lot. Once you learn the trick, your experience here will be superb!

Cons: The restaurant is small, it's often crowded, and the wait is often long. The music is quite loud (which isn't a turn-off for some, but it's worth mentioning). Pros: Absolutely everything else. The food is consistently fantastic, the drinks are great, and the staff is kind, friendly, and fast. If you're looking for a swanky-ish place for a date, Coco's is a great option. I suggest the crab & black bean quesadilla or the Tijuana trainwreck w/ tortilla chips.

one of my favorite places to eat in town. i always get the tijuana trainwreck or the baja chicken and shrimp wrap. one of the times i came the rice in the wrap wasnt fully cooked and kind of crunchy so im gonna knock down a star for that. also the salsa sampler leaves something to be desired (i.e. spicyness). great for a small group of people that want to grab drinks and dinner. this place is pretty small so be prepared to wait if you're coming for dinner on weekends.

Interesting menu. I had the Tiajuna Trainwreck and I give thumbs up. Well done.... Waitress was a little matter of fact , not really welcoming, this is my job so i'll go through the motions like or I would have given it 4+ stars.

Kinda Mexican fushion? Got the trio mixed grill. Meat was okay. Potatoes were awesome. Veggies were just right. Drinks were a little slow, wasn't packed. Hawaiian margarita was okay, coulda used an extra shot. Kids liked the pizza. Carne asada next to me was gigantic! Dangit...

Very good service it was extremely good food. I had the desert chicken hot and it was the best chicken I have ever had. One of the other men I was with had tostada salad with the best portobello mushrooms he had every had it was a wonderful atmosphere for any type of person.

I have never eaten here but we did hire them to cater a wedding. They quoted a price and then ran out of food after only 3/4 of our guests had gone through the line. They never apologized and then said it was our fault because the price we were quoted was so low. I would also say the catering manager Jessica Parr is very unprofessional and has failed to make any sort of apology. I do NOT recommend at all.

Food was good. Crab dip was amazing. Ticket times were very slow for food. Rum and coke seemed watered down to me, but the Michelada was Good. Not a bad experience, but room for improvement.

I always enjoy the place, though it is always packed.. probably because it's damn good! Cons are really only in the wait time and the fact that you have to plan out your parking, but in the Aggieville area, parking is never guaranteed anyways. Everything else is a positive and it is definitely worth the time!

Mixed review from me... Arrived with six other ladies, and waited more than an hour. But wait, the thing is: the host/owner? sat about three little groups before us, in three tables he could've put together. Why did we wait? Because we heard it was good, and yes it was! Food was delicious, and satisfying, but I'm all about customer service too. I'm not against waiting, but we've gone to enough restaurants to know that those tables were available and they should've gone to us. Will I go back? Um, not unless I'm meeting friends who prefer it there. Otherwise, I'm willing to try other places in Aggieville.

I am not sure why this restaurant gets such rave reviews. I will say that SOME of the food is very good (including the chips & salsa--you pay for them, they are not "free"). And, I love the patio and ambiance. However, I won't be back. Here are my issues: 1) overpriced food, including a cup of tea for $3!! Great place. Great food. Great service. Servers were very kind and knowledgeable. Tijuana train wreck was awesome. So were the appetizers. All of them. Came back a few times after the first visit. Everything is great from the tacos to the quesadillas. Drinks are fairly priced. Definitely recommended.

Coco Bolos is amazing. It is my favorite restaurant... maybe ever? Favorite items include the Tijuana Train wreck, Steak Sandwich, Red Salsa... list goes on. Their jalapeño ranch dressing is also amazing. It is a smaller restaurant but they also have an outdoor seating area that can be utilized in winter. I have had to wait occasionally to get into this place but it is well worth the wait, and it is usually quick.

From reading all these reviews and have had basically ate everywhere, this was one spot I wanted to try out. Myself and a friend went to check it out. As expected there were already huge groups of people waiting to be seated. We had a wait time of about 30-35 minutes before we got to sit down. The prices are fairly expensive for an average college student. Cheapest meal was about 9-10 dollars and everything averaged 15-20 dollars. I had one of their sandwiches and wow, the stuff was amazing. The food was a flavor explosion in my mouth. I could actually distinguish different flavors and everything was perfect. The portions were more than enough for what I paid for and filled me up well. The potatoes side was the most tasty side I've ever ate. My friend had their streak special. It was 22 dollars but it was a lot of food for 22 dollars. He let me have a taste of the steak and it was far the best steak I've ever had. I might sound like I am exaggerating, but the food was bar none some of the best that Manhattan has to offer. I would definitely recommend someone who wants real food made fresh from real chefs to check this place out. Yes it's small, and yes there is a long wait, but it's worth it.

This was one of the first places we ate after moving to Kansas. Man are we lucky we live two blocks away! This place makes amazing Tex-Mex. The food is not too greasy or processed and you don't feel like an elephant after dinner. Some of my go-to favorites are the Bolo Nachos, the black bean burrito, the crab and black bean quesadillas and their bolo rice. Their prices are reasonable for the quality of food and make sure you go on Thursday for their $5 carafes of Margaritas!

This place is not bad! I had heard a lot of bad reviews, but my experience was fine. I had the Mahi mahi pasta lunch...quite good with a nice salad that even had olives. It was expensive for a lunch though...around $20.

My impression was that cooks just were not paying attention to what they were doing!

one of my favorite places to eat in town. i always get the tijuana trainwreck or the baja chicken and shrimp wrap. one of the times i came the rice in the wrap wasnt fully cooked and kind of crunchy so im gonna knock down a star for that. also the salsa sampler leaves something to be desired (i.e. spicyness). great for a small group of people that want to grab drinks and dinner. this place is pretty small so be prepared to wait if you're coming for dinner on weekends.

I obviously was not clear when I asked if I could get veggies, so that may have been my fault, but the fact that veggies were not an option vs. bread seems a bit odd 3) Overpriced/questionable drink "specials": my husband wanted a margarita and they insisted that he get a pitcher even though he didn't want a pitcher and I don't like margaritas. He caved, and I understand why they want to sell the pitchers--mainly sugary base with maybe one shot of tequila. Not a margarita! But, a good way to make a profit 4) the fish tacos (a healthy option) were the worst tacos I have ever had--no seasoning, no flavor--just bla. I had to pay for chips & salsa just to get flavor. I have tried it three times now, and I won't be back.

Dangit...

Great margarita's, or so I think. I had a few. The food was fresh and the drinks were really nicely done, strong enough yet great flavors. When in the mood for Mexican in Kansas, this is the place!
