Shogun is terrific. I am always pleased when we go there to eat. It's a family favorite, so we often frequent this spot when we're in town visiting the in laws. The teppanyaki is good. The meat is good quality, and I like that they do a split between rice and noodles. That's a cool bonus for this place. The sushi is also really good for KC. I am a nigiri monster right now, so I usually drop solid cash on the salmon, yellowtail, tuna, etc. I also tried their toro (fatty tuna) and walu (Hawaiian white fish) the other day; both of which we're delicious. Overall, a great spot for lunch or dinner. I'd recommend calling ahead on weekends if you're bringing a big crowd.

Excellent Sushi! They have the best Saki (Salmon). Their Maguro (Tuna) and Unagi (Eel) are always very fresh. Portions are the bestI I have found on the Kansas side. You will enjoy.

Brought my son here for birthday lunch and fell in love. Bento box with beef teriyaki was fantastic. The crab Rangoon are quite small but delicious and best eggroll I've ever had. Very relaxed atmosphere the staff is superb. Can't wait to go back and try the hibachi side.

I really like this restaurant. I've been here a couple times and the staff is phenomenal. The food is tasty and really cheap for the quality. This fish isn't incredibly fresh but for the price I wouldn't expect it. However it's still good and I still enjoy it.

My husband, daughter and I had a chance to enjoy a nice dinner. Shogun was a perfect fit. The company and staff were fun and the food was very good. We had the steak and shrimp dinner, but our table mates also enjoyed the sushi. I would recommend Shogun!

Been to Shogun several times. My kids love the grilled noodles. Service has always been great. The cooks need a few more cooking jokes. The atmosphere is very peaceful. They did a great job designing and decorating.

I love this place! When I travel to the coast, I try to eat as much sushi as possible. If I'm in KC, this is top 3 sushi restaurants ill attend. The food is always good, the service is always dead on, and the food comes out nicely prepared and tasty. The owners are extremely friendly and always remember who we are. The Japanese grill is excellent to, but expensive like most. We'll do that side if its a birthday or special occasion. All and all, great place. Only downfall is, don't come in 30mins till close! They rush you and it's an awkward experience. I can understand if it was 5-10mins till close... Maybe even 15mins. But 30mins, really? If you would prefer no business at that hour, then don't be open.

I love this place! Great food! The Tempra Shrimp Roll is amazing! It's pricey, but it is good.

My mom and I came here for lunch. She ordered teriyaki steak and I had sushi. I eat quite a bit of sushi and have had way better and worse. They use too much rice in their rolls but the fish is as fresh as its going to get in the Midwest for the price. It wasn't my favorite but still edible. My mom requested her steak rare but was served well done. It's not the best quality steak, yet as I mentioned before, you get what you pay for. Our waiter was more than awkward, he seemed new but still, that is a huge pretty peeve of mine. You cannot change nor fix personality. I would choose to dine elsewhere in the future.

I was in the mood for something lighter for dinner when I saw the sign for Shogun Steak and Sushi. I was greeted right as I walked in and was attended to the whole time I was there. The restaurant is a decent size with regular table seating, sit on the floor type area, sushi bar and teppanyaki tables. The Sushi chef (?) was nice and made a mean roll - 3 of them for me (so much for a light dinner). I had the spicey tuna, tempura shrimp, and caterpillar rolls - YUM. I usually favor eel (ala the caterpillar roll) however the tempura roll just blew me away. Nice and light, crunchy tempura batter on the shrimp inside of the roll. Prices were comparable to other sushi places.

This place was pretty good. A bit overpriced for what you get though. Still a neat experience that I'd recommend everyone try at least once.

Sorry Shogun, I wanted to like you. The decor was quite nice inside. Japanese like styles with a steak side and sushi side (tables, sushi bar, and kotatsu tables + zaisu chairs + cute shoji screens). Kind of a neat clean inside. Now for the fun. We ordered two vegetable maki rolls, one smoked salmon nigiri, miso soup, and chicken yakisoba. My wife thought their veggie rolls were good and I thought their smoked salmon was decent. Not the best, but not bad either. When I started to eat the chicken yakisoba I started to wish I gave into temptation for a #7 at Taco Bell for half of the price. The noodles were okay, however, the chicken and the vegetables were a big disappointment... mainly the chicken. The chicken was very dry like it was overcooked. But my vote goes to it possibly being reheated. I ate the rest of the noodles and left the chicken. Later the waitress stopped by to see if we needed anything else. I kindly told her the noodles were fine but the chicken was very dry like it was overcooked or has been reheated. She told me the white chicken meat is always dry because it is stir fried. I didn't argue but I couldn't help to think my chicken isn't that dry when I stir fry and I am not even good at it. This is a steak house, I'd think chicken is on the menu a lot. Unfortunately, that was my experience. I would have at least felt a little better if may honest opinion was taken into consideration. Experience summery: * Nice decor * Okay maki rolls and smoked salmon nigiri * BIG tumbs down to the chicken yakisoba * Not the best service I've had especially for not being happy with the entrée

i cant say enough great things about this place. We have been going here for years to get sushi and always received fresh fish. The owners are very nice people and have always been willing to give us something extra if we wait a little too long for service or just because they want to see us back. We are there about once a week.. must try!

My husband and I love this place. The staff is friendly and the sushi is great for the price! We have never eaten on the steakhouse side, but for a great sushi joint that won't break the budget check this joint out!!

I ordered some rolls for takeout this past friday and was rather disappointed. Sakura has much better rolls in my opinion. The staff was extremely friendly and willing to make my food before they had officially opened for dinner. I'll probably give them one more chance but the food I ordered was just kind of blah. For 22 bucks I want something delicious.
