It's a good typical Starbucks and parking is easy with metered spots during the summer. I like the counter facing a window. You don't see that in a lot of coffee shops.

I will always have a place in my heart for Starbucks. This is where I first discovered what I once thought was a disgusting habit.........drinking coffee! Yea yea, I know Starbucks is an evil empire that serves burnt tasting coffee, blah, blah, blah...It all depends on what you order and for all the coffee connoisseurs out there, it's not a bad alternative to the PT's, Broadway's, and Roasteries of the world. Have an open mind and appreciate the fact that Starbucks spurred a national movement in America to appreciate what goodness coffee brings to our lives; LOL just kidding. Anyhow, the staff at the Mass Street Starbucks is hands down one of, if not the best service staffs in all of Lawrence. They will practically bend over backwards to please the customers. They will make just about any concoction you come up with. Assistant Manager Jeff is the BEST. His mellow laid back demeanor can calm the most irate customer. The entire staff is unbelievable to say the least! If you're worried about the perceived awful taste of their drip coffee, you need to try the light roast/Blonde. It is excellent for what Starbucks offers. It has on average over 300mg of caffeine. One of the highest in the industry. Plus, it really doesn't taste bad. Second best blend is the Starbuck Pike Place Roast. A little nuttier with stronger flavor. No burnt flavors here. Adding a little cream and sugar also does wonders at Starbucks. One of the few places not to frown upon or charge for steamed milk in your coffee is always a plus. The latte's and other espresso drinks at Starbucks are not as bad as people make them out to be. It's like an old folk lore, once the story spread that Starbuck only serves junk, everyone seems to run with it. Some people are even embarrassed to admit they frequent Starbucks. Why? Doesn't make sense. Yes, they are big time corporate and not "Local". So what! Their smoothies are excellent. Their food is not terrible. Excellent breads, scones, and oatmeal. Always offer up free water. They have changed some of their offerings with the Starbucks gift card rewards program. Here comes the most important advise I can give.........Always pay with a Starbucks Gift Card. Purchase the Starbuck's gift card and add around $20 or so to it. Never expires. Immediately register it online before using it. This is critical in order to start taking advantage of their rewards program. You basically get one star (point) for every drink purchase you make. Every 12th star you get a free drink or food item. Any size or any food item on the menu. You also get free refills on drip coffees and ice teas. You get free steamed milk. Again, you must use the gift card to get these benefits. Where the hell else are you gonna get these perks? Did I mention free wifi and pretty good seating with awesome music. They will never run you out of the store unless you become a disruption. Of course parking sucks in that area, but what's new there? Did I mention that Starbucks is the second earliest opening in Lawrence (6am) besides Dunkin Donuts (5:30) or Java Place (24hrs) Again, I know it's kinda taboo to mention and rave about Starbucks, but it is a good option outside the local establishments. In February, Starbucks is opening their second Lawrence store at 6th Wakarusa area in front of Lawrence Free State High School. The Mass Street manager is transferring there with some of the current employees. Interesting to see how this location does.

I love Starbucks. I am pretty simple and do drip coffee or espresso. This trip was the Christmas Blend. Very nice. This is a small and narrow store, so I recommend you stick and move (i.e. get your jo to go).

The workers here are great. If you become a regular, you can bet they'll remember your name and your preferred beverage. Unlike other starbucks, they seem to put an emphasis on being friendly and providing amazing service. Someone is always going around wiping down the tables and keeping it ohsoclean, the way I like it. I always get my drink in a ceramic mug, and they seem to always remember that this is my preference! (I know.. it's the same drink...just in a mug, but it really makes it taste better when you feel all homey!) Keep up the cozy environment, Starbucks! They revamped this place a few months ago with some nice large study tables. You make me caffeinated, happy, and super productive. Love the free refills on coffee and tea with my registered starbucks card. It's not the same quality espresso as my favorite cafe (Broadway Cafe in KC oh how I love you...), but this starbucks gets 3 stars for its coffee, and an extra star for the amazing service I get every time I'm here!

Parking? Um..no. Places to sit and hang out with friends. Um. No unless you like one-way bench seating. Staff? Yes. Question is: why doesn' t Starbucks Corp recognize the potential of Lawrence and give us a centrally located, non-grocery store, location that is spacious and comfortable?

I often get the urge to respond to local patrons of service oriented establishments in Lawrence. "Buy local" they cry...corporate is bad. I admit, I agree somewhat, but when it comes to coffee (an essential for students preparing for exams, assignments, etc.) I am inclined to go against the grain. When I arrived in Lawrence a few years ago, I tried the local thing and it just has not matched up with what I anticipated. So, when it comes to iced coffee, wraps, free wifi, and a clean environment with high quality staff...I buy corporate. Starbucks on Mass. Consistently offers good quality of both product and staff. The prices are lower than most of the local places (on many items considering volume) and they offer cheap refills of the iced coffee (my drink of choice). Compared to other local places, they are cleaner...meaning they do not smell of mold, musty building, or urine from the restrooms (e.g., Java Break). In comparison to other local establishments, I rate Starbucks much higher on price, ambiance, staff friendliness, and cleanliness. I know they are "corporate" and this goes against many of the "free staters" "buy local" moniker...however, they still employ local people, have a good product, and offer great service. The staff at Starbucks are great, pleasant, and always helpful. Starbucks staff are consistently on cue and always pleasant. Point being, I would rather buy corporate, and even pay more if it meant receiving the type of service patrons of this Starbucks receive. If other coffee houses in town, and there are several, followed the model laid out by the owner and employees of the Lawrence Starbucks on Mass. Street, I think they would all have a cleaner and healthier environment, and consistently higher quality customer service.

Starbucks is the epitome of corporate coffee. When you are not in the mood of experimenting with other coffee establishments. You want simple to the point coffee without any thrills, this is the place to go. I prefer Henrys, but there are times when I want quick delicious coffee. FOOD - Coffee 8/10 AMBIANCE --- 8/10 SERVICE --- 8/10 OVERALL --- 8/10
