Chicken wrap was ok, would give more stars if the wraps were not so dry. Friendly staff. Chicken needs more flavor and cook it in a sauce.

Pita Pit is such a weird restaurant sometimes. It always seems to be pretty much empty when I go in. Few to no other customers, and one (maybe two) employees working at any given time. Really, though, the most I've ever seen at once was three employees. Walking in is awkward because you have to cross through the whole empty restaurant to order your food, and then you will most likely have to wait a minute or two for an employee to wander out to take your order. I really love the pitas here. After picking the filling for your pita (ex., chicken, falafel, etc.), you get your choice of a white or wheat pocket pita. You'll wait just a moment for the filling to be cooked, and meanwhile they steam your pita and you get to fill it up with a ton of veggies, cheeses, and sauces. I can't believe people compare it to Subway; there's a really nice selection of add-ons here. They have a Coca-Cola Freestyle machine, which is cool, but it always has something out when I go in. You can also get chips as a side. Price-wise, it's pretty expensive for a quick-service place, but it tastes great, so it might be worth it to you.

The place was empty on a Wednesday night as I entered, a bad sign, and I almost turned around to go to Fuzzy's for some tacos. Instead I decided to give it a go and walked to the counter. The staff was friendly and helpful, the place clean, the veggies fresh, and being Wednesday I was told that "double meat's only an extra buck" ($1 - normally $2.50), so I ordered a Philly Steak with grilled onion, peppers, and mushrooms for $6.59 ($7.59 + tax with double meat, bringing the total to $8 and change - normally $9.09 + tax). With more meat than Subway, which is not saying much, I thought the sandwich would be more filling than it was. They offer white and whole wheat pita, but being so thin the bread offers little satiation. I was still hungry. The extras (veggies, cheeses, sauces) are included and are liberally added, but the pita bread can only hold so much before bursting. In fact, the pita fell apart halfway through my sandwich as the juices attacked the bread less than 20 minutes after ordering. For $8+ I was not pleased with the value of the sandwich. They offer chips on the side to accompany sandwiches, but french fries would be more appropriate and filling. Overall, I found my experience and the value of my meal disappointing. The couple of experiences I have with Pita Pit are all positive ones. The food is good, it is prepared in a timely manner, there are plenty of customization options(perfect for a picky eater like myself), and they don't charge you like crazy for extra sauce. What more could you want?

It's Pita Pit - how could you not give it 5 stars? We were in recently after a night out in Lawrence - hadn't had a pita in too long, approximately over 2 years!! The place is super clean and the people working are incredibly friendly even in the wee hours of the morning with a not so sober group of people - I was one of the sober ones :). The night manager rocks!!!! You can really make some delicious combos and their products never look like they've been sitting out forever! I always go for the dagwood - cause I don't know about moderation :). Then I get to add all kinds of yummy stuff - like avacado, bell peppers, tatziki, sprouts....mmmmmm. And you get a great value for what you pay! I'll be back often!

Well, it's different than my usual Local Burger that I usually eat a t when in Lawrence. I he a falafel pita. Can I complain? No. It was loaded with the vegetables I chose, and falafel and ranch dressing. It was quite good. The falafel was surprisingly tasty. The employee was in the back doing something, and I almost left. Up the music was Blink 182, so I didn't leave. The employee finally waited on me. The tables were being cleaned while I was there. I got my pita pocket and ate it while listening to the background music, aptly appropriate. It was good, and I would return but there's countless other places to eat in Lawrence. Doubtful if they play Blink 182.

Two words: Food Poisoning. One of the very few cases in my life, and I eat out a lot. That was a few years ago and I still remember it.

Pita Pit is decent, fast food downtown. It is a nice spot if you are pressed for time and don't want something greasy. The workers are on par with any stoner fast-food (gumby's, jimmy john's). Usually you walk in during the afternoon and it takes a minute for an employee to emerge from the back. Pita Pit constantly runs coupons on the web and in the student paper. They also run a special on Tuesdays where you basically get free chips and drink with a pita. The food is on part with any sysco-delivered food outlet, but composed in pita form-- which is a step up from somewhere like subway. They have a nice assortment of ingredients and toppings that step out of the typical sub shop genre. Most employees are also very generous in adding toppings and sauces to the pita.

Weird set up, I never know where to order. Pita Pit - thought they might have some unique choices...nope, its subway, but on a pita. Over-priced.

The good: The food's not too bad. Wandering down to The Mad Greek will certainly get you a better gyro, but the price will be higher. Sauces and vegetable-type toppings are free. It's an open and airy place. The bad: Don't expect a filling meal. No, really. Going to Chipotle and spending the same amount of money on a burrito will leave you far more satisfied (and, although the food is quite different, it's also far more satisfying). Also, my friend managed to get free hummus on his sandwich/pita, but a different guy was making mine, and he 86'd that idea, as apparently it should have cost extra. Let's have some consistency, please? It's not terrible, but there are better late night eateries.

The food here is OK. It's nice if you want something fairly light for lunch and something you can hold in one hand, in case you're playing basketball or holding a hostage. What amazed me about my experience here was that during lunch hour, on a weekday, there was one poor bastard working there. Maybe there was another guy dropping a deuce in the back, but in the 40 minutes I was there I never saw the guy. So, this one guy had to take orders then cook the meat, then put the pitas together. There were about 7 of us in the restaurant and it took each person I'd guess about 15 minutes to get their food. None of us could be angry because it was obviously someone elses fault that this guy was working alone. So screw you, absent Pita Pit employee.

I just ordered from this place and after almost an hour long wait, I received one of the most disappointing takeout meals of my life. I'm visiting Lawrence from Charlotte, NC and I have to say that the Pita Pit in the Uptown area there is fantastic. I had extremely high hopes. I've been a fan of PP for almost 5 years now and up until tonight I have never been let down. Setting aside the wait time (It's a weekday night in the middle of Winter Break. No one is here. 50 minutes?), my pita was a half way folded, half filled mess. Several of my toppings were also missing, including the cheese which is so crucial! To make it a brief tragedy, I got about 2/3 of the way through when I noticed a beautiful curly ringlet of silky brown hair waving at me between the lettuce and lukewarm chicken. It was about 2 inches long and absolutely disgusting. I Immediately threw out the rest of the food, made some tea and that's that. Definitely will not be eating here ever again. Very bummed out.

We ventured over here after Fatsos kicked us out and I was taken back to a simpler time (this was a staple in my undergrad diet in Austin) It's cheap, satisfying and provides a nice start to the ever elusive task of preventing a hangover. Thanks Pita Pit for all you've contributed to my hedonistic lifestyle.

Decent food, but a little steep in price for what you get. The college-age staff can either be amusing/cute or annoying/surly, depends on the day. I do love that you can customize your order, and if you go on their website you can find out the calorie content of every ingredient they have and then use their little calculator to see how un/healthy your favorite pita is. The daily specials are a pretty good deal, but sometimes they just won't work for ya, for example I think on Monday they have a chicken special. A good alternative to Chipoltle/Subway etc, but nothing to seek out.
