A decent place to go for breakfast if everywhere else is booked.

Oh, Perkins. You and your middle-of-the-night diner food. If you are or were a KU student, statistically speaking you have ended up here really really late at night (or early in the morning, depending on how you define it) and have tried desperately to read and comprehend the menu enough to order bacon an eggs from a sweet lady with Christlike patience. She probably even poured your coffee for you so you wouldn't spill it, and even likely translated your "doss itss come wisausage?" order because she just knew you needed a little extra grease to mellow out that wicked cheap beer headache you are nursing. I don't even remember what's on the menu here other than that it's the same stuff you find at all the other likeminded diners in any town, ever. I DO, however, remember the gorgeous cooler full of 5 inch tall pies right inside the door and I'm not too proud to admit that I once bought an entire peanut butter pie and defensively ate it by myself until the point of vomiting. I'm also willing to bet that I am not the first person to be able to say that exact same phrase. Good food, nice waitresses, effective coffee. Not a Michelin-star joint, but it doesn't need to be. Its...a diner.

As far as chain breakfast restaurants go, Perkins has usually been reliable for a decent filling meal at a good price. There's nothing fancy about it but sometimes a simple breakfast is what a man needs!

I went to Perkins around 10:30 pm when it was much slower than during the day. The coffee was coffee, the food was slightly above average, and the waitstaff was perfectly friendly. This location is everything you would expect from Perkins, nothing more and nothing less. The atmosphere was mostly college kids having coffee or studying, nobody was particularly loud or disruptive. It was a nice place to have cheap food and coffee and use their free Internet for a while.

You know, for what Perkins is, it's pretty good. Sure, the wait staff can sometimes be questionable but I've yet to come to a Perkins and experience a RUDE waitress/waiter -- So in that regard, I'd say they're just fine. My friend and I come here when we're craving a piece of warm homemade apple pie a la mode. Yummy! :)

Good breafast restaurant. Funny musty smell is evident (think old people) in dining area. Not overly crowded but service was good and friendly. Strawberry French toast was excellent but hash browns were over done.

Went here about 6pm on a weeknight, wasn't super busy but our waitress acted like she was overwhelmed. We got our drinks and she said she'd be right back to take our order, never came back to our table as we watched her hit several tables around us several times and still never stopping at ours. After over 30minutes we finally got up to pay for our drinks and told the lady behind the register what horrible service we got... I gave her tip to the homeless gentleman sitting outside on the bench for his next coffee! Will never go back to this place!

Brian best service on to go order, accomodating and delightful Came in for an order togo before picking up the guys from a bar. The appetizers I ordered were large and perfect for the after drinking bites. The service I got was great. Fried shrimp bites were enjoyable. I also got chicken strips, and mozarella strips. I forget which order but it came with a muffin which to me is gigantic but very flavorful, I had a cranberry raisin with a crusted top. At night the parking lot has customers coming in and out but in the middle of the morning it was still dark and sketchy (only because i'm not familiar with the area) so go with friends and always be safe!

I took my Grandparents here for a nice Friday morning breakfast. We all ordered coffee and orange juice as we waited for our food. I've been here a few times and from experience I know that the service can be a little slow. But after waiting for 40 minutes for our food, no refills on coffee, and the waitress gone, it was time to go. The sad part was that they weren't even busy, you can't come to our table and let us know what's going on with our food or refill our coffee? If we got some type of interaction or excuse I would understand (I've been a waitress) but this was ridiculous. There are other places in Lawrence I'll go from now on.

Need some place to go at 2am? Well Perkins is your place! So the food may not be all that good (the muffins are decent) but if you need a place to meet up for some late night munching, Perkins is definitely a good bet. You'd be surprise how busy this place can get in the wee hours of the morning, nevertheless, the service is still pretty good and the food is consistent. If you're into eating breakfast at odd hours of the day/night, no worries because breakfast is served all day here!

horrible experience. service was not good. it took 45 minutes to get our food. my has browns were raw. they had to make them 3 times before they were close to looking like real hash browns. and our waitress seemed confused and didn't know how to smile. I'll never eat here again.

Definitely not someplace for gourmet cuisine, but if you want hearty breakfast foods, go to Perkins. It reminds me of IHOP but without the massive focus on pancakes, or Coco's (if you're from the west coast, like me). It's all the things you're not supposed to be eating but want to because it's yummy. Lots of older folk, families with kids and groups of student. Easy-going environment.

This place is actually pretty good for dinner food. It's not horrible. The muffins are awesome and so is the pie! They make really small pancakes though.

If you don't live in the Midwest, you might not be familiar with Perkins, but they're the Village Inn of the area. You don't come here for the exotic or extraordinary, you come for the familiar and you hope for a continuity across the chain. On that Perkins usually delivers. I came here one morning before heading out of town and I ordered the blueberry pancakes. They were delicious of course. The coffee and orange juice were fine. The service was above average. In about a half hour, I was full, happy and wired for the road.
