I LOVE this family restaurant! I order carry-out or to go at least once a week! I love that they take cards at my door when I have it delivered - amazing!

This place is always a go to when visiting Hays. The food is always fresh and appetizing. If you like Hot & Sour soup, try theirs. I haven't found a place in the whole country that can even come close to China Garden's. Anything on the menu is a win!

The food was great. The service was great. The place was a little dated. I will eat hear again.

Food was decent. I had Pot Stickers and General Tso's Chicken. I had to add crushed peppers to mine to spice it up more. Good serving size. Teenage daughter was the server and she was pretty good, taking care of about 8 tables herself. If you're craving Chinese food then it will do, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go here.

Excellent Chinese food, friendly staff. The General Tso's is sweet and the egg drop soup was especially good.

Me and my husband were on a trip and we were tired of junk food. So we decided to try something new. We came to this family own restaurant and it was delicious, good service, good food.

It was a bad idea to spend the night in a weird town like Hays, KS but this is what happens when you do a cross country trip. For dinner my fiancé and I stumbled upon this place after walking out of Carlos O'Kellys. When we walked in there was a family of 3 and us. I'm glad they stuck around until we were almost done because that place was creepy at night. The lady that helped us and what I think was one of the owners was not very friendly. We ordered House Special Chow Mein ($6.95) and the tofu was unfortunately silken which is not my favorite. The food looked good but when we had our first bite it lacked in flavor. It wasn't even spicy like we ordered , it was a bit sweet even with their hot sauce. I'm so thankful I was out of there okay.

Again, we stayed in Hays, passing through on our way back to St Louis, from Colorado Springs. We debated returning to Lb Brewing but decided we were not in the mood for a beer. So we headed for Al's Chickenette, only to find out that Al is not open on Monday and Tuesday. Al's chicken will have to wait for next trip. We drove by China Garden on the way to Al's so went back there for dinner. We found a nice, little, family run Chinese restaurant. We had a decent meal here. I tried a cup of Hot and Sour Soup and found it to be a good version. It had heat and balanced sour and was nicely flavored. I would enjoy a big bowl of it on a cold evening. We skipped appetizers, after eating way too much in Colorado. Ms T chose Mu Shu Pork with the pancakes (rice is an option here) and I had a supposedly spicy Mandarin Pork dish. This is not creative or really remarkable Chinese food, but I have to say, we really enjoyed our meals. First, none of it was loaded with onion, not even scallions. That boosted Ms T's enjoyment by about 1000 per cent. Our dishes benefited from a splash of soy sauce and even though I ordered the spicy dish extra spicy, it was not spicy at all. However, it was good straight ahead Chinese. Both servings were very generous, prices were reasonable. Both were loaded with meat to the point where I actually could have used more vegetables. I guess they are catering to Midwestern carnivores. We will be back through Hays, I'm sure. We like it as a stopping point. I still want to try Al's Chickenette, but China Garden and Lb Brewing are good options. I don't think China Garden merits four stars, but it was a solid three-plus place.

We were in Ellis for business and came over to Hays for dinner. We went to China Garden and had dinner, when I walked in I really liked the decor. The premises was clean and the staff was friendly and service was fast. I had the sweet and sour chicken with fried rice and egg drop soup. They were all good and tasted fresh. This is nothing to write home about but if you want some Chinese food that hasn't been under a lamp all day, in a nice and authentic feeling atmosphere then stop by China Garden. I would eat here again any time if I were in Hays.

I've only ever had it delivered so I can't comment on the wait staff or the atmosphere. The food is good. It's not the best Chinese food I've eaten, but it's definitely the best Chinese option in Hays.

If I could give this place less stars I would. The most disgusting thing I've ever eaten. I'm from Pennsylvania and we don't have phenomenal Chinese food, and I've been living in San Diego for two years, and by all means Chinese isn't their fortay either. But this by far is the most disgusting thing I've attempted to eat. I tried a vegetable delight, and even though the broccoli was crunchy everything else was questionable, and tasted like the sauce had been sitting for a while and maybe they skimmed the mold out of it. The sweet and sour chicken was more rubbery then overcooked shrimp. Save yourself don't come here. I paid for all of the food, about $20s worth and didn't even take a third bite it was so bad. The waitress didn't seem to care that we didn't enjoy our food. He exact words were" oh, you eat fast!"

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city.
