Decided last minute to meet for a quick bite with a friend at Beggars. We were seated right away and was impressed as it was Friday night. It took a little while for our waitress to finally come around and take our drink order. Once we placed that, we immediately placed our order for appetizers as well. Upon bringing our drinks back, we decided we were ready to order our dinner as well. My friend asked for an individual slice of pizza and I ordered a chicken Caesar salad and we decided we would split it. It seriously took forever to receive our food once the order was placed. Our waitress was polite but not attentive. Don't think I will be coming back anytime soon.

Our server Joe is so squad. Made some bomb recommendations. Came in for pizza, ended up having flame nachos with a pitcher of Pepsi and a sweet deep dish cookie for dessert. 10/10 would recommend Joe as your server.

Ok... So a few things. I have always liked Beggars on Ridge Rd. In Whiting, their prices are pricy, especially for that area. I came here for a late lunch with my mom and little brother. The place was empty besides the booth next to ours. The wait for our pizza was quite long. But we kept ourselves entertained by the 3 flies that we had to kill that kept thumping into the window. Beyond gross...The service was horrible. The server left us tiny plates for our pizza. The pizza was yummy. We finished our pizza, and our server was MIA. I might have to try them again, maybe the service might be better.

The pizza here is good, with very generous application of ingredients and cheese that make it a good value. The calamari, not a generous portion -- not a good value. The service is average. Nothing special, adequate. This location in Whiting is NOISY. There is thin carpet on the floor and no other fabric in the place to soak up any sound. There are TVs and music playing at the same time and you have to shout to be heard across a table. Four stars for the pizza, three stars for the service, and one star for the ambience. Stay at home and have your pizza delivered.

I have had beggars in past never from this location. The crust was way thicker then the others. The cheese did not cover the pizza. I've always had a Healthy layer of cheese not on this one.

Well, after a long absence,we thought we'd give this place another try. Sad to say,it has not improved. One of the good things is we were seated promptly at a window booth, which we enjoy for people watching. We noticed there was no condiment tray on our table and it was uncomfortably warm in there. Melissa appeared and asked for our drink order. We also ordered our food at the same time and asked for the condiment tray. She took one from another table and put it on ours. Our drinks came out fairly quickly, brought by another waitress. Then we waited about 10 to 15 minutes for our salads, again brought by another waitress. The salads were fair with large pieces of romaine, the tomatoes were hard and tasted bad,but the garlic dressing was very good. The main courses (lasagna and thin spaghetti w/garlic butter sauce) arrived in due time(again brought by another waitress)and were very tasty, but the bread that came with them was stale. Melissa came around 2 or 3 times when she could tear herself away from the other male waiter. If she cared for her customers half as much as ? she might get some bigger tips. It will be a long time before we return unless things change for the better. BTW,we tried the thin crust pizza,Italian beef, fish and chips, and only the Italian beef was worth having again.

The food is ok.I'm not a fan at all with their sauce because it taste like tomato soup with sugar. Yuck! Also the last three times that I visit...the waiters must not be very knowledgeable in food because every time I asked for the chicken noodle soup, they bring me minstroni soup.Your staff really needs to look at what their serving or stop hiring idiots... Your job isn't hard at all and considering when they forget the soup to begin with they still fuck up. Please change the size of the strawberry daiquiri I feel that I shouldnt pay for a cup when it should be served in a glass..very tacky and a rip off. Also teach your bartender to put liquor in your daiquiris I didn't taste any liquor in it at all, if that was the case I could have stood my ass home and made one myself... Indecisive to want to go back ever!

March 12th, 2015. I called in a order at 7:24 p.m. I told girl about on line coupon. She had no idea and put guy on the phone (Ernesto) and he had no idea what I was talking about. So, I had to email him the coupon to his personal email. He said, if he couldn't take it he would call me back with price adjustment. So, I'm waiting and nothing. I call back at 9:30 p.m. to see where my order is. Jackie, who answered the phone, couldn't find my order. So, Ernesto got back on the phone and said no order was ever made. WHAT? Then why did he have to confirm my coupon? Crystal got on the phone and didn't know nothing. So, instead of offering any type of solution, he wants me to place order. It now 10 o'clock at night. No I didn't want to place an order! Big disappointment!

The environment is great, the employees are wonderful, the location is great, and the pizza is great. I'm not disappointed whiting, IN location, you've made a client here compared to your other locations. I like this location plenty. I always come here with a large group, from triple dates towards family and/or friend nights.

Good pizza but pricey for the area. Service is ok considering they're very young. The big screen TVs make the wait time more bearable.

Best pizza in the area. Also the best Beggars I've had. Been to a few different Beggars and this one is the best.

Nice to see a new restaurant option in downtown Whiting. I went here on a business lunch yesterday (4/25/2013), and it was ok, nothing great. I had the Italian Beef (with giardiniera) and French Fries. The beef itself was quite tough/rubbery, and Au Jus (for dipping) was very greasy, with about a 1/2" layer of pure grease/fat floating on top. So much so, that when I dipped my sandwich in...it was just coated with grease/fat, which wasn't at all appetizing. I'm thinking that they probably just ladled the Au Jus out from the top of the container (where all the grease accumulates) instead of stirring it up first. All in all, I was rather disappointed with the sandwich. The service was great, as were the french fries. I'll probably go here again, but I won't be ordering the rubber bands...er, I mean the Italian beef. P.S. - I was on my lunch break...so no alcohol for me, but I did notice that have a few decent beers on the menu. Might pop in for an after-work drink someday., but will steer clear of the Ital Beef. For all the BP folks, you'll be delighted to know that they do indeed accept AMEX.

I left a tip below should explain my dissatisfaction. This owner has another location that is just as bad. First. Had pizza not very good and very pricey. Second time beef and i call it greese sandwich with rubber bands service is ok. But food not so much. I won't be returning.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
