This may say "Steak House" on the sign but it is really just a smaller version of a Golden Corral. You order and pay as you are walking in the door then proceed to the buffet (what the majority of people apparently order). A friend and I visited during lunch on a Sunday afternoon and were told that we had to pay the dinner price for the buffet all day on weekends. We each shelled out $10.99 for the buffet plus $1.99 for a drink. We were advised that tipping was recommended as a waitress would be refiling our drinks and busing our plates away. The buffet was large; three hot bars plus a salad bar and desert bar. However, the food tasted low quality and reminded me of my high school cafeteria. The chicken on the buffet was completely inedible as it was pink and under-cooked. The waitress didn't refill our drinks until I walked across the restaurant and asked her to do so. I'm usually a generous tipper but this time we only left 10% which was still probably more than what the waitress actually earned. Overall a big disappointment.

Every time I have been here in the past 26 years the food has been hot, fresh, & delicious. The staff has always been friendly, helpful, & attentive to my family's & my needs & requests! They have a wide variety on the food buffet & you can also order from the menu. Even my grandbabies find many food choices they enjoy! My family has dined here in large groups including lots of kids & we have always enjoyed a pleasant experience! It is our first choice when we are in town & many times when we aren't we will drive the 35 miles just because we enjoy the restaurant

The food at this place seems like standard cafeteria food. Nothing stood out as being exceptionally good. The staff itself was very lackluster and not very helpful. We dined amongst our dirty dishes from previous visits to the buffet. While one of the waitresses was cleaning the table next to us we drop the knife on the floor... She looked at it, and then continued cleaning the table. Never offered to pick it up. I heard a different customer was complaining to the manager how someone had dropped a dollop of ice cream on the floor, told the waitress only to be ignored. Another customer eventually slipped on it almost falling down. She told another waitress who also ignored her. I find it unlikely that I'll be returning. Would rather visit the Denny's or Cracker Barrel next-door.

It's actually a "mini-buffet". The food and dessert bar were good, the salad bar was decent. When my husband and I walked in, there was not a lot to choose from since many of the entrees needed to be refilled. As far as the service they need to improve. The "waitress" brings you the drinks but forgot about our table until we left. The only icky issue was that there was food on the floor that needed to be vacuumed from the carpet.

Food was lacking and in general just was not even there. They lacked basic things such as shredded cheese and rolls. The steak we got for my niece was so tough it hurt her teeth (childrens steak was its name).The waitress was amazing but the manager refused to speak with us. It's sad that ponderosa are rare now but this one is a good reason of why most are gone. Just go to golden carrol it's cheaper and better selection. Fun fact the place was so bad we turned down the free gift cards offered to us (no refunds) because this was sadly my last ponderosa visit (use to be my fav as a child)

On a LONG drive from FL to Chicago we stopped in for some dinner before hitting hotel up the road. Great value for the price. Filled up on the buffet and took dinner "to go" to finish on remainder of trip. Staff very young but very nice and helpful. Good to see kids care about their job. We put this location on list to visit on other trips through that part of Indiana.
