Teibel’s Family Restaurant Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

Even though this looks more like the 1950's-70's version of the classic NW Indiana restaurant. The classic fried chicken was pretty darn good, Even though I couldn't finish it all. The yellow perch was great too, Even though it somehow resembled a smelt, In shape. The soup was not bad either. The beets were great too, Kind of a horseradish like taste, Though still sweet. The meatless mostaccioli was a surprisingly good treat as well. This would be one of my to go places in NW Indiana.

Teibel's perch & frog legs are going to be served at the heavenly banquet! All you can eat frog legs, awesome blue cheese for the salad, and ice cream thrown in, make this place well worth the trip from Indianapolis.

What a disappointment!!! It's been years since I went here and this place has gone downhill. First off, we made reservations for my dad's 74th birthday. We get there at 7:30 and had to wait. When we finally got seated we were in a small room facing a wall. We literally sat in a corner facing the wall the entire time. We order drinks and my moms rum and coke arrived in a cracked glass and my "specialty cocktail" of a peach old fashioned came with vodka (who puts vodka in an old fashioned?!) and tasted like straight up cough medicine. Couldn't find the waitress anywhere so I had to go up to the bar myself to return the items. So, those got sent back. The menu was cut in half since the last time I was there and also they have not updated their online menu which still shows all the old items. They are pretty pricey, so I assumed our meals would be amazing. SO WRONG. My moms "southwest" chicken soup was so spicy she started choking immediately. My vegetable soup was gross and tasted like hot tomato juice. Our main courses come out and my moms pork chops are bone dry and my medium rare "filet minion" is a flat piece of shoe leather. I had to send that back as well as t was literally well done. By the time my food came out again the steak was now raw and my parents were done eating. I ate it anyways because I seriously couldn't stand to be there any longer. To top it off, they bring out a cake for my dad's birthday and it was stale!!!!!!!! Over $120 for the WORST MEAL EVER!!! Please head any where else other than this craphole!!!!

We are from Phx and my aunt wanted to visit since she hadn't been here for 30 years. It's as if time hasn't changed it. It's not that the food is bad, it's just not good. The service was really bad. But we won't tell my aunt. The food and service is just old and tired.

All the food is fantastical. My dad loves the frog legs all u can eat best. Nice corner location and in business for eons. It's a really nice place to dine before a concert at the Holiday Star Plaza. Can't beat it; wonderful! Don't forget the fried chix

Good food, small portions, a little on the expensive end, slow service. I would give then 3 1/2 stars. I had the walleye dinner. Very good!

Don't think this would ever be a place you would go to to just eat. It's normally filled with events i.e. Funeral, reunions or after church events. If you want a time capsule of the last 40 decades you will love this place. Each room has a look you can tell when is was built. They don't remolded they just add on. The food is something that one would think would be the draw of this place. The only thing that the good draws you to is to multi glasses of water. Seems that the sodium content on their food isn't important. You can't taste your food due to the high level of it. Kind of fits the places since you feel like your dinning with your grandparents. Not that their is anything wrong with that.

The gem of Northwest Indiana. Yes, the nostalgia plays a part of my love affair for this place. Yes, I did dine here with my grandparents many years ago. However, this restaurant changed with the times with the recent remodel; but still has that old school feel with the great recipes of old. This is a place I dine at twice a year and each time I count down the days until then. The lake perch is the best and worth every penny. Down to the salad, the soup, the rolls; all 5 star. I commend the current owners on the fine job they did. This is the Wrigley Field of the area. Kept the same charm of generations ago and also renovated to suit the 21st century. Side note: please do not wear jeans here. It is appreciated if you spend $20+ on an entree you dress up. Thank you.

I was told to try the fried chicken, and it was very good, hot and juicy. Outstanding for the price. The service was excellent without being over the top. My only suggestion would be that they need to update the atmosphere and uniforms it was a bit depressing but the service and food made up for it.

  • Leslie L.

The prices have changed from years ago. I went to a baby shower there and didn't like the beef and noodle type dish served. It was bland. Yuck! However when I do go I eat the same thing each time. I know what I like. I love the lake perch dinner! I know some people complain about price but this is LAKE perch not the crappy cheaper ocean perch! I love their rolls and could live on them. I also enjoy the yummy peppermint ice cream (or so I'm told) is from Valpo Velvet! I've bought some from the store and it is good. It's seriously about 7.00 a gallon.

This review is for Teibel's Cafe, only, the backdoor version of the restaurant. You can get the same meals they serve out front for lower prices and a more casual atmosphere. My Dad wanted to have his birthday dinner here, so I obliged, and must say that it was a far better experience than I've had in the main restaurant. My perch and his frog legs were both good, and even the cold wax beans brought a smile. So, if you're intent on dining at Teibel's, give their Cafe a try.

Disclaimer: That second star is there for the nostalgia factor only. When I was a kid, I had to trust my elders (aka my grandparents and great-grandparents) when they taught me Teibel's was a great, fine-dining restaurant. Hey, they served Kiddie Cocktails and deep-fried fish and every meal ended with peppermint ice cream, so obviously I had no choice but to agree. Alas, both I and my palate have matured since the early '70s, and the only reason I go to Teibel's now is when an elderly family member dies and the dinner is held here. The food is exactly the same as it was 30-40 years ago (and beyond): hearty, unhealthy and pretty bland but strangely comforting. Sometimes the familiarity of an iceberg lettuce salad and lackluster fried perch is exactly what I need to be reminded of [insert name of old dead relative here]. This place is a holdover from the era of '30s-'50s art deco dinner clubs and banquet halls where guests gussied themselves up to the hilt for a large meal with family and friends, and I appreciate that about it. That said, the exorbitant price you pay for the mediocre quality of the food simply isn't worth it in modern times. And don't even get me started on how pissed I was when I learned they replaced their fabulous old Googie neon sign with the ugly-as-hell red signs they share with Walgreens!

Teibel's will always be one of my favorites despite the fact that some people say its aged and outdated. While I don't disagree that this place could use some updating with its menu to bring it more in line with the times, the food remains very good and predictable with each visit. There are really only two options here: fried chicken or lake perch. Both are excellent, and I always get the AYCE fried chicken dinner. It's basically a six course meal from the soup and salad through the peppermint ice cream! If you're under 65 years of age you WILL be the youngest person in this restaurant though, not counting a few of the hostesses. While this is not a bad thing, I always say Teibel's is most definitely where the geriatric crowd hangs out and they know that menu from front to back! A NWI institution!

  • Rocky F.

Sometimes it's better to NOT revisit the past. Teibel's is like an old girlfriend who you run into and wonder what you ever saw in her in the first place. The trademark boned in butter perch is bland. The old school sides of coleslaw, and cottage cheese are straight out of a retirement home cafeteria. The mixed veggies are obviously out of a can. Two stars for the nostalgia factor only. I knew I was in trouble when I saw the sign on the door that says: "Wheelchairs available inside". Teibel's is strictly for your grandparents (or parents, depending on your age.) Do yourself a favor and go have the lake perch at the Lighthouse Restaurant in Cedar Lake. WAY better.

  • David C.

This is a restaurant from the past that has not kept up with the times. Decor has not been updated since the 50's. The food was awful. The soup was salty and obviously brought in. Their famous fried chicken was devoid of any seasoning at all, lacked any salt and flavor. The mashed potatoes where the true give away. If you are going to call yourself fine dining, and charge fine dining prices then you loose the right to serve instant potatoes.

Had an early dinner here after apple picking in Hobart. So I appreciated the super comfty chairs. Extremely friendly service. Family liked the fried chicken. I can't remember the last time I had fried food, other than an occasional French fry. I ordered the perch and was surprised at how tiny the pieces were. I remember them being bigger at Phil Schmitts- maybe because I was a kid back then. Veggies are frozen or out of a can. Beets are out of a jar. Cole slaw needs to marinate for another 2 day & needs sugar. Defin. caters to senior citizens. I can say I tried it, but don 't see myself going back. Also a bit pricey for what you get & where you are.

  • Ken P.

Well, I'm of the age group you are all knocking. Can't change that and not really trying. For you French snobs: The raison d'etre for going there is the perch -- boned in butter. It is family style so there is porcine note. The excellent cold slaw cuts that nicely. The chicken is also family style. The rest of the menu is something I've never bothered with. The perch are perfection. Back in the olden days, sonny... There were a number of perch joints that passed as haute cuisine. French were the guys that couldn't fight. My palette may have gotten more sophisticated over the years. But, the perch is still as good as it gets. Maybe it is my generations comfort food but it has a quality that is undeniable.

Hello, FOOD SNOB HERE. Yes, this place does look a little like a funeral parlor. The place has not changed in years. Also the food has not changed and thats because it is good. For the price, it is good Perch and Fried chicken. I guess thats why they have a mostly older crowd. I firsted noticed only 2 1/2 stars, then realized its mostly younger people reviewing. After 70 years of success why change anything. Sure you can go somewhere and get perch for $7 all you can eat. But most people can tell the difference. I guess there are places for younger crowds, and places for older crowds. I hope this place remains a region favorite for many years to come.

This review is for the banquet dining. I've gone here for several banquets, and have never had a great meal -- standard bland banquet food at best. Please ladies -- stop having your bridal and wedding showers here -- you have options. Sorry, the quality is just not there anymore. I think most people go here because of what it was, not what it is.

    (1)
  • Marion R.

I'm not from the area but have lived here several years. I ate here for a banquet and was not impressed. The vegetarian option was pasta with marinara. Yay. And I had to wait 15 minutes after the rest of the table started eating to get it. Pass. Not really sure what the big deal is about lake perch either. I guess you have to have a long history in the Region to like this place.

If you want some home cooking, this is the place for you.

  • J J.

I would have given it 5 stars, but I really think that they have changed the oil that the perch is cooked in. It used to be like eating buttered popcorn. Now a days, it is still the same look and texture, and fish, but the oil is bland. even asking for butter on the side doesn't help much, if it is butter they bring you. Oil is everything. Still, there is nowhere else in IN, MI, WI, or IL with a better lake perch dinner, or anywhere else in the entire country that I have found. The chicken is very good and the sides are healthier than anything you'd get elsewhere.

  • Cassandra S.

Completely over rated and over priced. People in NWI rave about the Lake Perch served at this place. I guess it's my fault for not inquiring more into this traditional perch but it is basically fried pieces of fish that look like fish sticks---YUCK! Don't let people fool you into thinking this is "fine dining". Oh and the place looks like a funeral parlor with a clientele that is basically knocking on deaths door. WOW, I guess that's harsh but it is definitely true. Enter at your own risk!

This is a great old school place with formal dining rooms as well as a casual dining room. The pan fried perch boned in butter is out of this world. There is nothing like it. The cole slaw is unique to Teibel's and is great with the perch or chicken. The formal rooms are great for weddings or funerals. They seem to do a huge take out service as well. Get the food family style on platters. this place should remain open forever. The memories people have of it must be incredible.

Food is less than average. We ordered the lake perch and frog legs. Very disappointed. Very plain. Other than the butter, you can't taste anything. Will never go back.

If you want to go to an old fashioned Euro restaurant then go here. Tiebels is as pure today as it was when it started years ago. Imagine a place where you can eat your Grandmas Polish/German/ Austrian cooking, this place has it all. Heart and soul cooking! Everyone raves about their Fried Perch, but I am addicted to their pickles and slaw. Wow really tasty and not too salty either like most euro foods. The staff are excellent including the bar staff who are so quick and know how to mix a mean drink. Is that a good thing? Nice place to go to and chat to the older generation, this is a story telling place here for sure. Love it!

Yes this is the place for delicious lake perch. Yum!! It's a nice family restaurant but some of the prices are little high.

When I used to work at Mason's (a industrial chemical plant just down the street) they would bring in food from Tiebel's about once every 2 weeks. Fried chicken, fried perch, cole slaw, pickled beets, and rolls. Man, was it good too. That was a weird place to work. They never gave bonuses and were extrememly tight with raises but they would buy tons of this high quality food for everyone to eat on the dirty, chemical laden work site. But it was a family shop so what you gonna do? The only way to get up in that company was kiss ass like crazy. I used to work with the grandson of the owner and he would literally do whatever the hell he felt like. He was this 20 something douche who bring a bag of budweisers to the job and sit in the supervisers seat and make phone calls to his baby mama. Hell, everyone was getting drunk and stoned behind the building whenever there was enough down time. So yeah, I'm guilty too. But this guy wouldn't even stay at the plant for his whole 8 hours he would just come in an hour late, drive the fork truck around and then leave 3 hours early. Oh, and besides the family people it seemed like I was working mostly with ex-cons. The racial tension in my department was unnerving and so unnecessary. It seemed like some of the guys that worked there were just there because people were too afraid to fire them. I don't know how that place never exploded or got shut down or something. So, anyway, Teibel's. I've lived pretty close to the place for most of my life but have only eaten inside twice. I don't know why nobody in my family ever thinks of going there. They have really nice decorations around Christmas time. Though, I would say there's definately something very "whitey" and old timey about the place. But that's not a bad thing! That makes it unique. Don't worry, if you're a person of color, they're not going to turn you away or give you dirty looks or make you order from the "other menu". Try it.

there's only one thing i get when i go to teibels - the fried lake perch! it's classic. it's a step up from casual dining and the crowd is usually older. while some may not go for that sort of thing, i do. i've never had screaming kids next to me, nor have i had a bad cup of coffee there. the service is always good and the food has never let been anything but good. at Christmas-time, they always doll up the place to be a real festival of lights. lasting for decades, teibels continues to be a cornerstone of the community,

30 Second Restaurant Review - More like 3 1/2 stars. Went old school last night, took my Mom there for her 81st birthday. Sometimes it's comforting to go back, not to many places like this left. The family stuck with the basics - Fried Chicken, Perch, Frog Legs and Steak. I had the Walleye - thought it was better than the walleye that I had in Door County this summer. Steak was OK, stick with the Chicken, Frog Legs and Walleye. You get the whole meal for 1 price. Bread sticks with cheese spread, soup or tomato juice, salad or relishes, Teibel's rolls, and ice cream. The relishes were the cottage cheese, beets and cole slaw. Didn't ask for a B-day cake for Mom, but they brought one out when they heard it was her birthday. I like it when the owner is around, and Steve Teibel was there. Still love the Christmas decorations. Got to get back there more often since so close to home.

I can't believe some of the reviews on here....ok...I know they haven't updated this place in a while, but every time I go (whenever I'm home) the food is always incredibly delicious. I always get the turkey dinner and you have to get a relish plate (beets, cole slaw and cottage cheese). I hope this place is in business for a VERY long time...as what some other reviewers said..if it worked for 80+ years, why fix it? The crowd here is also a bit older, but who cares? If you really like good food then that shouldn't even matter. And remember to save room for the peppermint ice cream...

I went with my family last night for dinner. My mom had a $100 gift card and we'd never been there so we tried it. the selections were very few and there were 3 or 4 beef selections. Everything was WAY too pricey and tho the food was good, they skimp on it. My son had the turkey dinner that was $17, and we were saying how it was the EXACT size, style, taste, as the SAME dinner at The Steer for only $6!!! I had the steak and it was good, with a baked potato and soup. My brother had the pork chops which were very small and my mom had the beef burgundy. For that price, she didn't get much. We skipped dessert and the bill was close to $85. It's highly doubtful we won't be going back.

A NW Indiana historic location and business. This is a place only my great-grand parents would love.

Family style dining Midwest style. When we first sat down we had cottage cheese, beets, and German style cole slaw waiting for us... How easily I forget how spoiled California has made me. The second course was some sort of vegetable soup containing okra. Then the main course. Fried chicken, fried perch, and mashed potatoes. That's right, two fried items and a starch. Dessert was peppermint ice-cream which did bring a smile to my face. I was surrounded by family so no matter what I was served it would have been a good meal. The whole dinner reminded me of my youth and made me miss my new home in San Francisco simultaneously.

Yuck. I have had 50 years of experience here--bar mitzvahs, weddings, funerals, family parties--Tiebels v Vogels chicken wars, etc. The main difference is that this happened when we went out to eat 4-5 times a year, not 4-5 times a week like now. All of the food is SUPER greasy, overpriced and over-rated. PERIOD. I suppose those that don't get out much fall back on "old school" supper club feel, etc. but fact is the food is not very good.

Celebrating my in-laws 50th anniversary. Teibel's has been around forever and that's because they continue to do it right. Service is always top notch and food is delicious. Staff was very friendly and accommodating when I made reservations. Dining room is a little more dressy. If you're looking for a casual alternative, visit the coffee shop. It's attached to the South side of the building. Same great food and service. Jeans are fine in the coffee shop.

Grew up going here 2-3 times a year as a family tradition (we would drive there from Wi to visit family on IL/IN border). I always ordered fried chicken or fried perch, both were excellent and came with soup, salad, side item and a scoop of ice cream. We recently went back and maybe it was not a busy night (Sun), but it didn't seem as fresh and as good as it used to be. The baked potato looked and tasted a day old; our family complained the chicken was not the same - seem over cooked compared to their usual. They now have "moderate portions" of the two staples (perch or chicken), but they're still about $22 - rather steep for what you get (for $3-4 off you lose either soup or salad and dessert). I ordered a slice of cheesecake, ate most of it and then realized there was two spots of mold on the other side. YUCK. I think our family tradition of going here is over.

Teibel's is always a great place to go for events, family get togethers, weddings, large groups, etc. In my opinion it is not the best place to go on a date unless you are 50+. They have a cafe in the back and (one again just my opinion) it seems more of a senior citizen type of area to eat. They have great fried chicken, there is just something unique about it and it is so damn good. I NEVER get friend chicken anywhere, can't stand it any other place really. If I go to Teibel's that is a treat for me. Everyone else seems to always treat themselves to the perch. I have never eaten it, but people always a drooling thinking about it haha.

When we asked my grandpa where he wanted to have dinner for his 90th birthday celebration his answer was Teibel's. Teibel's is an institution in NW Indiana and growing up I remember going to Teibel's for a wide variety of special occasions like wedding showers, retirement parties, and the like. It's great for nostalgia and if you love it for what it is- great fried chicken, fried perch, fried frog legs, and fried shrimp-then you'll probably be happy. Catch the theme of fried here? I tried the Shrimp DeJonghe and wasn't very impressed so I would definitely recommend sticking to their fried options. Great service though and my grandparents love it so I'm sure I'll be back again.

Our group had lunch at Teibels on a bus trip. I didn't make the arrangements, but I can tell you that I experienced almost NONE of the positive things that people have mentioned in their positive reviews. I had to pay $19 for an extremely small portion lake perch with cheesy potatos and frozen mixed veggies. Although the food was good enough for maybe a 3 star rating from me, I was horrified by the amount of money I paid for it. After reading the reviews here and looking at the website, I have no idea why I was charged so much, but I was. If you are scheduling for a group, I would NOT recommend this place. My husband refused to eat once we sat down and if I had to do it all over again, I would have done the same.

I think it's horrible and cruel to poke fun at an establishment as some Yelpers below have done just because a place caterers mainly to an older crowd in their opinion. Have you Northwest Indiana people ever heard of age discrimination? I would like to remind those Yelpers that our older citizens have been where you are going, if you are so lucky to make it. I would remind you to hang onto your tacky, misplaced comments for a day when you should be so lucky to make it to a good old mature age, those crude comments you direct towards your elders today will be applied to you one day. Shame on you for your lack of respect.... As for Teibel's, it represents a time when individuality reigned supreme beckoning back to an era in American history when people took a risk, worked hard and openend their own business. Teibel's is not a chain or a cookiecutter place, such as those that have saturated Route 30 over the recent decades. It is an original, a work of art. It's an old time anchor and deserves the respect as a long surviving instituition that has weathered time and the latest generation and fads. Teibel's represents a time when dining out meant dressing up, showing some manners and being civil with each other over a good meal. It's called class, maybe we have lost it. American class and culture you will not find at McDonald's or any number of the invasive chain restaurants that line Route 30 today. I think Teibel's is a fine restaurant, I have dined here many times in the past. There is nothing wrong with Teibel's. Have a good day! .

Went to this restaurant on a Groupon. Boy did this bring back memories of when I was little and people dressed up for a special dinner. Went for an early dinner, mainly geriatric crowd, but they do have a nice bar area with booths. Comfy chairs on rollers and friendly waitstaff. I love the combo meals. I had the fried chicken & perch. Glad I didn't order appetizers, because we were served warm Teibel rolls and their own cheese spread. The meal came with soup, salad and dessert (a small scoop of ice cream - 6 flavors to choose from). You can also purchase "moderate" dinners, which allow you to forgo some of the sides. My specialty martini ($5) was delicious and they have a nice selection of beers.

  • Angelus K.

How can I be objective about Teibel's?? My grandfather used to take me there when I was five years old and we'd sit and eat fried chicken and ice cream for dessert. Teibel's has the most over-the-top, gaudy, and absolutely wonderful Christmas decorations that you've ever seen. Even today, in 2015, it is like stepping back into the 60's (or so I've been told... I wasn't around then). What can you expect from Teibel's other then amazing Christmas spirit during the holidays? Well, Teibel's is "old" American food. The aforementioned fried chicken. The best pan fried lake perch within 100 miles. Frog legs, if that's your thing. It ain't cheap, but you get the whole shebang--salad, rolls, soup, and of course, ice cream for dessert. They also have a nice selection of beers (including local beers like 3 floyds). I'll be honest, there are a lot of funerals, bridal showers, church events here. Lots of gray heads. But in it's way, this is a sophisticated place. So give it a chance, you won't regret it.

Was there today for lunch in the Coffee Shop with a friend. Let me say that our server was fantastic in most ways; only detail I can fault with her was not anticipating needs like extra napkins or beverage refills. I will say that I think she was assigned the entire room and was a bit overwhelmed. Now the food: I ordered the deluxe chicken luncheon. I was excited when I was told one of today's soups was cream of broccoli, so I ordered it. I'm sorry I did now; what was in my cup looked like it had just been poured out of a food processor. Every item from soup to chicken to potatoes and gravy to canned corn was exceedingly salty. I was able to eat the drumstick portion of my chicken, but the thigh was too dry and kind of poofed like a certain movie Christmas turkey. I was born and raised in this area and Teibel's was always held up as the gold standard among restaurants. I'm sorry to say the gold has turned to lead and I perceive a sinking ship.

We were here for a family dinner, and while I wouldn't protest if others wanted to eat here again, it would not be a place I'd go out of my way for. I had the fried chicken, which was cooked nicely; it wasn't dried out or undercooked, and the coating was crisp, but it didn't have as much seasoning as I would like. The side of mashed potatoes was the standard cafeteria-style ice cream scoop in a dish type with a basic gravy. The moderate sized meals come with a choice of soup, salad or relish trio. My advice would be to go for the relish trio; it is a blast from the past, but the beets, cole slaw and cottage cheese were decent and brought back old time salad bar memories. The regular salad looked like the standard iceberg variety, and the southwestern chicken soup came with Fritos floating on top. The cellophane wrapped breadsticks and crackers in a basket on the table were another blast from the past. Rolls came out later and were served with a scoop of orange spread which our server described as a cheese and horseradish blend, but quickly assured us it wasn't spicy. I like spicy, so this wasn't necessarily a plus for me. Scoops of ice cream for dessert seems to be part of the tradition here; the ice cream was fine, but nothing really unique. As others have noted, it looks like the bulk of the business here involves catered events. When we arrived we were walked through a maze of empty rooms before arriving in the one where we were going to be seated. The decor is from days gone by with mirrored walls, dark colors, velvet, and large oil paintings of people who I am assuming are members of the owners' family. We were a group ranging in age from 40's to 60's and we were the youngest group in the room other than what appeared to be a few grandkids with their grandparents.

Loved stopping here while in town! Tiebel's fried chicken is out of this world, amazingly good. For the first time ever, I ordered the blueberry rum cocktail and it was simply perfect. Tiebel's makes and ideal Cosmo too! My 7yr old loves the warm buttered rolls and chicken. And the fries!!! Oh the fries are such perfection! So perfectly crunchy. I hate living out of town, I'd be here weekly if I could!

I've been going here for 30 years on and off and I have to say this was probably my last time. I've never been much of a fan of Teibel's, mostly only going for funeral lunches & retirement parties and a handful of times for dinner with my grandparents. This time was again for lunch with my grandma for her birthday. The waitress was old, crabby and rude to us right out of gate and was through the whole meal. The food was sub-par and over-priced for the small portions you receive and it also arrived lukewarm. It also has zero flavor and you better like what they serve because if you try to substitute, say vegetables for a potato you get told no, they don't have vegetables, yet when someone ordered a different dish and it came with asparagus. Anyway, I can go on and on how bad the service and lunch was, but to wrap it up, Teibel's is past its prime, if it ever had one. I know it's old and family-owned, but that doesn't make it good.

Teibel's has been around forever. Family-owned and operated and has been since 1929. They also have catering and a large banquet hall. We had some family come in from out of town and stayed near here so we decided to treat them to dinner. Huge parking lot so no problem there and we were seated right away. Very friendly service. Very efficient also. Great apps and everyone loved the dinner. I got the all u can eat frog legs done both sauteed and fried. Loved them. The kids liked it too and they had a kids menu. We sat in the dining area near the bar and the decor was a little out dated. We walked by another dining room on the way out and it looked nice and modern. Teibel's is primarily a banquet hall I think but we've been here now a couple of times for dinner and both times had a great meal. Great for groups.

Haven't been to Teibel's Resturant in I don't know how long and now I remember why. Instead of a normal essay style review I've decided to review my experience in BLURB format. Enjoy. "On a scale of one to Steven Wright Teibel's fried chicken was Bob Newhart." The reason I used comedians to describe my fried chicken experience is because it was a complete joke. "Breaded hummus would have been more supple, juicy, and succulent." "It's wasn't like the place was packed so I'm not sure why they would have absolutely NO quality control for their yardbird." "Only a saw dust stuffing with a white-sand glaze would have made this entree less appealing." "If it's up to me, I am never going back to Teibel's. Just to make sure, I'm discontinuing communication with any one nearing their 60th, 70th, or 80th birthday, college graduation, career retirement, or terminal illness. "Our Waitress did provide me with a complimentary slice of delicious strawberry cheese cake but it was nowhere near a grand enough gesture to make up for my newly acquired fried chicken P.T.S.D."

This place is the right combination of nostalgia and delicious food! Pretty much every important family event in my life has been hosted here, but we love the chicken, perch, rolls and Cole slaw enough to buy them for carry out at times. Although I'm truly a salad lover, I could eat the vinegar based slaw in place of salad any day and I love that it comes as part of the relish trio with beets and cottage cheese. The perch is absolutely the best, but love the opportunity get less commonly available options such as frog legs or liver & onions. The chicken is rightfully known around the region as the best. It's no mistake this place has been around for 85 years! Here's to hoping it will be around for 85 more!
