It's quick and fresh. The staff is nice and friendly. It's a place I come to once or twice a week. It's much better than McDonald's. I like watching the burgers get made when we walk in. The shakes are good especially if you come in during happy hour and ALL drinks including shakes are half off. The only think I hate here is the floor isn't the cleanest. But being open 24 hours it might be difficult to keep clean. Also the bathroom has a weird smell.

Love the hamburgers, and all the shakes too. Yummy, I really love the salted carmel one...

Went here for dinner. Followed the server to a dirty table. Stood there until it was cleaned up. Ordered the guacamole steak burger and fries. Food was not great, burger and fries were cold. The only item was good was their cookie n creme shake. Would not be back.

This place has gone down hill ever since I moved last year. I am not sure what happened! Last I was there visiting Jan of 2015, I had never had so many issues in my life at this place, I was a regular. They messed up my order through the drive through (took 30 mins) to get my food, then I had to go in to get my right order took them another 30 mins to get my food. 2nd time I was there when i visited few months ago I waited over 25 minutes to get a shake... The place was a mess and the floors had fries all over, gunk, bathrooms were gross I felt like this place hasn't been cleaned in years. I know they had a new manager and must say they messed up this place BAD....... fix your place up people. Never use to be this bad!

Was just in there Tuesday night around 6 pm. Service was horrible! Hostess sat us. 10 min later the waitress walked over, and asked us if we were seated first or if the table next to us was! Isn't that your job?! We ordered our shakes. I am not exaggerating, she came back 25 min later with our shakes! No apology! Snails move faster....if you don't want to wait 2 hours from start to finish... Go elsewhere

Tired of regular fast-food hamburgers? This is your place! I love the butterburger and shoestring fries with grilled onion. Milk shakes are always out of this world good. After all that, however, if you choose to dine-in, you will sit elbow-to-elbow with other parties (I've had folks join my table's conversation). You might have salt and pepper on your table or you might not. The noise level can be deafening. My recommendation is to hit the drive-thru and run with your fabulous food!

Went in for breakfast at 6 am and the host seated us at a table. We were the only ones in the diner and no one came to our table for about 15 minutes (not even for our drinks). The waiter was talking to the cook and another man at the counter. When the waiter finally came to our table we asked for a breakfast menu imstead of the afternoon menu. The waiter told us to wait a minute and when he returned he said the cook didn't know how to cook breakfast. With it being 6 am and wanting breakfast we got up and left, but not after wasting almost 30 minutes of our morning.

Small portion but a quick place to grab a very cheap lunch. 1/2 Monday - Friday shakes and every $8 you spend on the weekends kids eat free.

I will definately NOT return to this Steak and Shake. I only work 2 blocks from this place and it was lunch time and I needed to get back to work so I went thru the drive thru. When I told them I had two separate orders I was told they could only do one order at a time. So I waited in line for the food from the first order and then had to drive around the building to place the second order. By the time that was done half of my lunch was over! I will NOT ever go back there again. That was the worst customer service I have ever experienced! If I could I would have given them ZERO stars I would have.

One star for the milkshakes if you go through the drive-thru. Otherwise, bring a change of clothes because the grease from the fatty-fat burgers and cigarette smoke from the patrons permeates the dining area and has ruined my appetite on more than one occasion.

greasy burgers, shoestring fries, and sticky tables is not the equation for a good diner. however, their milkshakes somehow redeem them enough to get a 3 star rating from me. service varies greatly depending on which high school kid you get as your server. as you sit down with the notion that you're going to get a quick, cheap meal. you realize you're paying $3.50 for that sandwich, another $1.60 for the fries which somehow morphs into just getting the dinner platter; add a pop, and all of the sudden, you're sitting there with a $10 tab. however, if you're looking for relatively quick food at any time of the day or night and/or a good milkshake - stake 'n shake's the place!

I've been here several times and I admit as I hang my head in shame, it is usually after a night of drinking. The wait staff seems to get side tracked in the evening. The crowd is usually other drunks or high schoolers out for "coffee". I have seen all stereotypes here from Jocks to Punks, from Cheerleaders to Emo or artsy folks with some old people sprinkled in for a Midwest crazy late night sundae. I would get side tracked too. I've only been here once during the daytime and that was when the place first opened. Burgers are ok but I must say that I think the one I like is the most unhealthy sandwich ever made. The Frisco Melt is really the only thing I get if I'm getting a meal. Not too hot for their other menu items. Honestly I like their skinny fries and I like the fact that when I get them there is little to no salt! I like to salt my own stuff if I feel like it. Usually I try not to add any because processed food already has a ton in there. The SHAKES!! Yes! This is the reason to come here! (If you are too drunk DO NOT get a shake, trust me) Today I'm not drunk, I assure you. Late night Walmart run and I decided I needed a shake. Don't judge! So I went through the drive-thru. It took forever to order a shake and I think it is because it is late and the person might have been having issues. No worries. I got a side by side Chocolate and Strawberry shake and shared it with my hubby. Well.... Kind of shared? Their shakes are really tasty and they have many choices. I don't know if they are really hand scooped but they sure taste better than anything I've gotten from other places with Drive-thrus! There is one called Orange Freeze.... If you like push pops try it! It is very good and is essentially a Orange Sherbet Shake. Yummy!

I never eat inside, but oh man their 5 dollar meal deals are hard to beat. You can mix and match flavors in shakes, definitely a plus for us. Expect greasy, artery clogging goodness, at least it's good, so much better then 5 guys or Mcdonalds (opinion stated) The interior, well, it's dated and when we go the crowd seems uninviting due to sheer late night size and chaos. So never eat in.

The vast majority of my experiences with this Steak 'n' Shake have been pretty positive, with good food and really reasonable prices. I'm not a fan of shoestring fries, but that is a stylistic choice of the chain as a whole rather than this individual location. Really, the only complaint I have had is occasional issues with service. 4 out of 5 waiters are friendly and capable, but there are a few there who I try to avoid when possible. Some are just plain grumpy, one is basically entirely incompetent (and yet has been there for years). Minor reservations aside, at least this location is far superior to the ones in Tinley Park and Frankfort. If you have a hankering for burgers for cheap, you can do a lot worse than this particular Steak 'n' Shake.

i really like it in there. the inside is always clean, and i like the way they have it set up like in the early 60s. i LOVE their fries cuz you get a lot for your money and their hamburgers are really good too, any kind but Mcdonalds are good. its always been clean when i was in there, but then i havent eaten in yet.. and on the wait in the drivethru.. if a person is in a hurry then they should just go inside and stop complaining about the wait! what do you expect? they Actually take time to make their food from scratch, they dont just warm up stuff and that all takes time, and its well worth the wait to me. if you dont have time to wait in line, then please go to a really fast food place like Mcdonalds, who just warm up cold burgers, they dont actually cook them, ok?

Can't beat the price for a decent burger, fries and shake! So much fresher than McD's.

Good food and great shakes but the drive thru service is consistently one of the worst in the region. Mind numbing slow and not so much as a hello or have a good night. I know we ask a lot of the service industry workers but someone needs to remind them that without customers they won't be in business. You can get a good burger at a lot of places around the area but service and environment is what sets you apart.

Well when ordering one shake is a problem// its the wrong Shake place. Busy, c!ean front counter and one badly distracted employee. I did not see the miserable errors until I was down the intensely congested highway. Too bad the the lids were not on right. With two items in a To Go cardboard crate, I had a big mess thanks to errors on the tea size AND the shake was not even a true shake? The day before, I had bought ice tea at a different St+Sh. I got a nice 20 ounces of tea /then. This was more of a 40 ounce and hard to walk half a mile in corridors with. But I needed to get moving..another tea..might be expensive timewise- given the employee. If another set of pals come in. TWO containers with lids off..and I hardly hit my brakes. I had packed the containers and crate with a book bag, the front was baked by a heavy tote and I almost put the seat belt on them. A premonition. My single shake was a hot fudge with banana. So after THE employee finished taking her friendsorderr, made it and cheated a while ~ catching up on school talk and family etc, there was no apology. i was there weel before her pals. Again this is the front counter, she is three feet from me for the most part!! ? My elder was sick, had been sedated for procedures that morning, had no food since the day before. She had missed three meals that she could not afford to. She has little appetite. And swallowing is difficult. So, I asked for a shake with hot fudge and banana, nice and semi-smart. SHE asked if I wanted side-by-side. I said no. She asked "do you want it blended?" I said "yes..(and added) - its for a 99 year old and she is barely swallowing. SHE repeated "hot fudge and banana?" Yes. "Blended, right?". Yes. I waited some more. I think she may have made this one also. I happened to notice her staring past the grill, corner of my eye. The Manager notices I am /still sitting at the counter, about 8-10 minutes now, and asks if everything is OK. I say yes.. Its too late for him to observe me being avoided, when pals and pal's family comes IN, to order..and bam..I become invisible. I did not bother to complain, I wanted unblemished food./but it was still not going to happen. Both containers eventually went flying off the seat of my car. The 40 oz joke-jug of ice tea. Some wierd looking liuid pouring outnof the shake glass?? Of course I can't reach it, I am also driving. Its pouring over the seat and into my pretty carpet. Running like water, no shake. Nothing close to the one same one I bought (elsewhere) the day before. I salvaged less than 3 inches of shake. I had no time to go back and wait endlessly again..for Ms.Manners. Ms. Professional..student. I had no time to clean my carpet..in blazing heat, the ice cream was left cooking into the carpet. That is not all//?? ~The watery shake was never even blended. I was sure she beld it under a. Lender. Did not turn it on? Too busy dreaming/ or sleeping. What was actually remaining of the "milkshake" was huge pieces of bananas. Impossible for elder to eat OR drink. Since all themice cream and watery liquid was on my carpet. I did not have utensils. Orma rug shampooer. The Hospital crew did not have utensils or rug crews So Moms got nothing to eat. I hustled a tiny cup of cream corn. Much later l purchased organic baby food. quality control people for Steak and Shake have ill-fitted personnel also. The 800-number gave me a cold, near speechless rep. She repeated my words in speedy trite shorthand with a sarcastic, bored, sing-song tone. When I did not want to use my email address, she was happy to just say thank you for calling. Bam. I did not expect /a lot, but I did not deserve that. I am a truly considerate, qualified customer- oriented person. For decades I have been in service areas that are similar to traffic controller risk level- for reckless actions + comments. I do understand stress and even exhaustion. Still I cant understand rude manners + sarcasm. Both we're delivered without my provoking. I just needed a shake. Seriously needed. A college student, friendly when I arrived never tried to help me, when SHE was free. And yes it was her job. I called because of an accumulation of problems.Only the manager seemed to present present professionalism. I understand the other poor reviews for this locale. I have been to many locations, service is not/perfect. No apologies, even when you get quality "control" This is sad. The burgers are not half what they used to be. What's left Steak and Shake, after we get attitude from employees you never saw before. Quality Control Center - so arrogantly parroting my boring experience? My elder was sick. Ai was tired too, BUT I still gave respect and consideration to others that I /do not know and I FEEL do deserve the benefit of!the doubt. Despite kindness,no attitude I got treated like the problem. Got nothing for a long ride..-/that wont be made again. Must be independently owned.

I was there with a friend, we were taken to our seats right away only we sat for 20 minutes for someone to take our order, all I wanted was some fries and a coke and even that took too long. The waitress was rude and acted like we were wasting her time. This is the 2nd time this happened here so I will never be going back! Don't waste your time here.

After a great night at the show nearby, we realized that the popcorn, nachos and candy wasn't enough to call it a night. So we finally decided to try this place out. Their trade mark are definitely their milk shakes, which you have the option to keep it Classic, Side-By-Side combination or go nuts with the flavorsome Specialty shakes featuring chocolate bar bits. As far as the burgers there isn't nothing special about them, I guess their "Thin 'n Crispy" French fries stands them out however, they are quite fulsome. In addition they offer a "4 Meals Under $4" which it's really worth it. Our order took a little while to be completed, I guess because we were a large group and it was late night but, the waiter service was great. The place is filled with Teen and Team Spirit as local jocks, cheerleaders and preps mostly dine here, making it an agreeable place to hangout. It's a great place to grab a bite even late night.

The food has gotten progressively worse. During a recent carry-out experience, as soon as I got my order, the food was already cold. The fries were stale and the milkshake tasted like metal. Very disappointed. I don't ever plan on going back. Also the restaurant appeared to be very dirty as well.

Steak N Shake in general, just, no. The only redeeming item offered there are the shakes. The chili is repulsive, and the other food items are not worth the horrible wait.

I've had bad service here on more than one occasion, but they have some really delicious sandwiches. Most of their shakes are also usually awesome. It's a very busy place though, even really late night/early morning, so you can't really hangout drinking coffee there for too long the way you can at Round the Clock or The Steer.
