One of the best fried chicken places in the area. 100 year old Victorian style mansion turned into a restaurant. The chicken has sometimes been hit or miss, size wise, but always very good old style pan / skillet fried. Sometimes the chicken pieces are very tiny like hot wing size, other times they're normal sized chicken. The mashed potatoes and gravy are great, as is the corn, green beans, and rolls. The servers wear old style uniforms and there is outside dining during nice weather. Good place to eat and a decent price as expected for this type of place and food.

Been here a few times, came here for dinner this past Friday evening with the family and always as good as the last few times we've been! I always get my favorite, the fried chicken, you can't go wrong with this choice, very very tasty! They bring a crap load of food to your table, if you leave hungry then you must've just had water?! The green beans are just okay, not my favorite though. The service is always great here, they bring you hot towels and ice cream after your meal! If you have not been here what are you waiting for?!?! I highly recommend you try this place out, just might want to bring a fat wallet cause they are a tad pricey, but well worth it!

I can't say that I've ever had a better dining experience !! Wonderful "CLASS" atmosphere, food, service & reasonable prices. It was a FATHER's day Treat, and I couldn't have wished for a better experience. Seeing the pictures on this site, you'll see that the facility, furniture, table settings, the servers, & the "family style" servings, were GREAT !!!

This is a great restaurant that's been around for 91 years! They serve pan fried chicken with all of the sides that complement the meal. This is all served family style. You can order other items off of their menu as well. The meal is finished off with a dish of ice cream and a hot towel! Mmm, mmm, mmmm!

Best steak around! Get the filet with the blue cheese sauce on the side. The steak is awesome on its own, but adding the sauce makes it phenomenal. Have eaten at many of the high dollar steak restaurants in Indy, and would take Kopper Kettle over nearly all of them (Fogo de Chao is the only one I'd be just as happy at, except that Kopper Kettle is about half the price). Food is served family style with soup, all you can eat salad and sides, along with ice cream or sherbet for desert.

They are located about 40 minutes west of Indy using Hwy 52 East This is an old grain elevator, turned into an Inn that is now a restaurant. This victorian style room has a crackling fireplace and of course the vintage copper kettle collection. This is an owner operated restaurant and they actually live upstairs so they have a zero commute to work time. This is Hoosier style home cooking and it was exactly what I craved on a cold Indy winter night. So you start your meal with a cup of creamy onion or chicken noodle soup. They will bring a basketfulll of crackers to the table. Then you have your homemade cole slaw or house salad. You really want to have their home made blue cheese dressing. Very thick and fattening. Choose your entree from steak, catfish, chicken, pork , shrimps and others. The waitress is dressed like a peasant and they bring plates of mashed potatoes, corn, beans, bread rolls and a pot of gravey. They serve these sides per table as if you were eating at home. They are shared. So since i was eating solo, I joined a local family and was adopted while I ate there. This reminds me of the dinners on the leave it to beaver show.. "Hey beav pass the mash pleasae!" Then you enjoy ice cream and a warm cloth to wipe the grin off your face. I really enjoyed being part of a Hoosier family dinner and got a big surprise on the way out..."enjoy our Kopper Kettle popcorn and tell your friends all about us"....yes a bag of popcorn to munch on the drive back to my hotel. honesty + great real food + surprises + smiles = success Kristi the owner nailed it!

Awful place. The decor is hideous and the whole place smells decrepit. The food was horrible! (I didn't eat more than 3 bites.) my friend isn't picky at all and he even said it was bad. The service was not any better then the food. This was the worst dining experience I have ever had and we done out a lot. Save yourself and go elsewhere.

We held a rehearsal dinner on the back patio and everyone left very happy. Food: Everything was served family style. There was apple butter for the crackers, a salad (served with various dressings), green beans, chicken noodle soup, potatos and gravy (the gravy was a chicken fried gravy - amazing!) and a choice of either fried chicken or filet mignon. Now, I do have to grant that the steak was incredibly over-done. Thankfully, one of the strangely clad waitresses came over asked me how I was doing and asked me again...to which she replied that since she orders rare too, that she knows how annoying it is to get a well done steak. Long story short - it was fixed in a few minutes and I enjoyed the entirety of the meal! Overall, the staff took care of us, was very accommodating when we wanted to bring in our own snacks and a the end of the meal, they gifted us with homemade kettle corn. I'm eating it now, while writing this review...so there you go!

Overpriced and underwhelming. I spent $15 for the Veggie Platter and it consisted of canned corn, canned, green beans and instant mashed potatoes. It did have rolls that were pretty good though. You'll get the same thing at the grocery store for $2. You just need to provide your own microwave. I should have known something was up when I noticed the place was so empty.

I love this place! We took our grandkids age 9 and 16 for dinner as a special Christmas outing. They were overwhelmed by the huge, decorated Christmas tree on the front patio and all of the exquisite Christmas decorations through out the house. The decorations perfectly accented the lovely, quirky, antique furnishings and sparkling chandeliers. Especially nice was the family style dining, with all sharing and passing brimming dishes of veggies and chicken. This restaurant is such a nice departure from the trendy/gourmet restaurants popping up all around downtown Indy, where we live. I only wish it was a bit closer.

My favorite place when I go to Indiana to visit family. We had a big family dinner here this past august In our own private dining room, it was beautiful! The service was great and friendly. I had the French onion soup it was very tasty. Next I had salad and their home made blue cheese dressing! I cannot say enough good things about this dressing I still dream about it! The shrimp cocktail is awesome their cocktail sauce has fresh horseradish in it and it's got a big kick! Love it! The fried chicken is amazing, juicy and crispy! Huge portions! We had basic veggie sides also great. Hot fudge Sundays for dessert! The rest of my family had the shrimp dinners and steak dinners. Everyone raved about everything!

We went this evening for Mother's Day. What a waste of money. For $27 a person I expected to at least have fresh homemade food. The corn and green beans were canned and the mashed potatoes were instant. Everything is served family style but they charge per person for the meat (but still serve it family style too) My daughter and I got shrimp. It was decent. They were large and tasted good but $29 for 6 is outrageous. My grandmothers got the fried chicken. One said it was good. The other said it was no better than KFC. The waitress was cold and bordered on rude. We had a group of 11 people. She only put one pitcher of water on the table for all of us. I had to get up and walk to the other end of the table to refill my own glass and they charged an automatic 20% gratuity. I realize it was pricier because it was a holiday but seriously if you are going to get charged fine dining prices you should get the quality and service to match. Save yourself and your pocket book the trouble and go to a KFC buffet. You'll get the same level of food and service for a fraction of the price.

Stopped in for a late lunch, and we were literally the only customers in the restaurant. Fortunately, Wednesday's lunch special is a 3-piece chicken dinner that comes with everything (and more) you need to know about the Kopper Kettle. The initial salads are large but otherwise average, and come with rolls dusted with dill and a cracker basket. We tried the balsamic dressing and the bleu cheese, both homemade, and both delicious. You're eating fried chicken though, so why not go ahead and get the bleu cheese? Next stop, full-on food overload. I think the regular portion had a thigh, leg and breast, while my all-white-meat plate came with what seemed like two large breasts and a wing. The platters came with large servings of green beans and mashed potatoes. We also received a tureen of thick, chunky gravy. The green beans are, of course, cooked what I like to call "Indiana style," or what everyone else considers "southern." Unlike most places, however, KK's are slightly sweet and savory, making them a little unique outside of soul food joints. The mashed potatoes were rich and smooth, suggesting more than a little butter inside. Most importantly, though, the chicken was pretty much killer. Like other places in the "chicken trail" of southeastern Indiana, the KK uses a peppery coating on their chicken. Because it was the lunch special, we didn't have to wait forever for the chicken to cook. You'd think that would mean it was pre-cooked (and over-cooked) but it tasted fresh and was cooked to perfection. Dessert seemed almost like a cruel joke at that point, but it was included in the special, so we soldiered on. Today's selection was an old school wedge of chocolate layer cake, coated in a frosting reminiscent of the boiled icings or sheet cakes of long ago. Despite the dreadful feeling of fullness, we both killed the cake and felt like Adam Richman on Man vs. Food, vanquishing another challenge. The damage for all this? $10 each. Plus drink. Seriously. And we had a friendly, efficient, and knowlegeable server. Forget the long drive from Indy. Forget that the place looks like the country farmhouse where Liberace grew up. Do the Wednesday lunch special, or go for dinner, where it's served family style and you can punish yourself with all the beans and mashed potatoes you desire. Bottom line: get here, now.

The Kopper Kettle has been a fixture in Morristown forever. I had eaten there some 15 years ago but this is one town that you can't get to by accident. You have to come to Morristown on purpose and that purpose could well be to eat at the Kopper Kettle. A group of eight of us had reservations for lunch a week ago. No problem getting in on time. The restaurant is in an older house which has had many additions over the years but still maintains an old time atmosphere. Except for the tables for the restaurant you might think that you were in a museum or an old southern plantation. I ordered the lunch special for that day, chicken and noodles with stuffing, mashed potatoes and green beans. The meals come with a large salad bowl and different dressings and home baked rolls. The meal also comes with the dessert of the day which this day was a cake-like brownie. The chicken and noodles are very good, the only ones I have had that are better are my aunt's and she makes everything from scratch. The stuffing was moist and tasty and the green beans has that wonderful cooked in bacon taste. I must say that the overall food, atmosphere and value are great. The lunch specials are around $10 - $13.00 Others in the party had fried chicken and shrimp dinners. They all agreed that their meals were very good. It will not be another 15 years before I go out of my way to get to the Kopper Kettle. There is a very nice little courtyard outside the entrance.

Hello comfort food and quirky charm! Kopper Kettle has a fantastic setting in an old Rococo home. An eclectic mix of tables makes the dining rooms both comfortable and casual. The decor is charming and unique. The menu is small but there are options for every taste and appetite. The pan-fried chicken steals the show with the fresh salad dressings close behind. The service is excellent. Each course hits the table at just the right time. Save room for dessert if you can resist cleaning your plate. We plan to return when the weather is warm to eat on the patio.

Good fried chicken, pricey, though. Decorated with my grandma's house, including the leggy waitresses in short skirts. Grandma's weird like that.
