Visiting Monticello and when driving around we saw lots of cars in lot so we decided to have lunch. Food was excellant, service was good. The only bad thing was the cleanliness. There was good on the booth seat.

Good food, service, and prices. The burger was hand made and really good fries. Could have better breads though.

We drove through Monticello on our way home to Illinois. We were driving along route 24. I swear this is the only place on route 24 to stop and eat. But what a pleasant surprise! I thought it smelled funny when I walked in but that went away. It was Friday and they had all you can eat Walleye, cod or catfish. I had the walleye and my husband had the cod. Both were fantastic!!!! I had hash browns because they were out of baked potatoes and that was a nice change. The best part was the Andes mint chocolate brownie. Oh my gosh! That thing is out of this world!!! I still have some of it. I ration little bites each day to make it last longer. Another plus for this place is that they had no problem letting my daughter share my plate. That's the way it should be I think. She is only 7 and probably ate one or two bites.

I needed meat. Unfortunately, in a town full of cows it would be easier to buy the whole thing. Not a slab of porter house or new york on any menu! There was only one spot left in the lot, so I figured, Wrong! I do have to apologize for staring. I know one guy must have thought I was hitting on him because I couldn't take my eyes off his hair. The joint was full of bowl cuts circa 1968. I thought the Beatles got back together or something. Even the women were in on joke! Back to the restaurant that was decorated in early country garage sale. I scoured the menu and the meat offerings were razor thin and nothing looked appetizing. I went with a combo club of ham and turkey. It came with noodles soup. Just to let you know that you were getting more than one noodle I guess? They were home made and the cup was brimming with chicken. Then the sandwich came out. The coated fries were all stuck together and looked as though they had 2 coats on them. The sliced turkey looked as thought it was frozen and thawed in the microwave. It had this transparent look to it. I started to lose my appetite quickly. I did get a piece of apple pie. The flaky crust and big chunks of apples almost saved the day. The waitress was on her game, but she needed to stop her auto tan prior to her coming to work. This place is amusing, but it isn't enough. Unless they let you pack your own lunch!

Not very Good. Skip & go to Ezmeralda's. They don't care either if you have something not edible. Processed junk. Don't waste your time when you can go to Ezmeralda's where they use fresh ingredients.

Great breakfast. Service was fast and friendly, food was great, and you can't beat the price. This is our favorite spot for breakfast when visiting Monticello.

A great local diner and the only local place I can get a Monte Cristo! Friendly service and reasonable prices. When you almost have to call and make reservations for Sunday lunch because of how busy a place is it must be good.

A good alternative to chain restaurants, especially for the westside of Monticello. Casual place... A favorite for seniors and families. Right on U.S. 24 and convenient to Twin Lakes High School, Roosevelt Middle School and Meadowlawn Elementary. One disappointment: the current owners have dropped the old menu items from the early days from when locals and tourists remember the place as the Frosty Mug and later the Tree House. The original owners offered the best quality burgers, hand-breaded tenderloins, crumbly cheese steamburgers and perch baskets around. Time marches on....

This is our second, favorite diner in town for breakfast. It was our favorite for the first 6 months before we found Esmeralda's, and honestly, I'm always happy to go there, if someone else wants to. The food is good, old fashion, and large proportions. The staff is friendly and efficient. We can always get a seat right away, unlike Esmeralda's.

Thursday night is "all you can eat" fried chicken with 2 sides. Delicious food, excellent taste and terrific service. Definitely a place to come back to.

TERRIBLE SERVICE. Ordered a big lunch order for work, and a few sides were forgotten, so I called back to go pick up the missing items. When I got there, the server argued with me about what was ordered and what they gave me. I ended up walking out, instead of arguing about $5 worth of sides. Terrible way to treat a customer who just ordered $160 lunch.

This place is so slow that I had time to write my review. In addition to that potatoes with the omelet were heavily overcooked ;(. It's better than McDonald, but ...

I'll restate my "tip" here: Ugh. Stay away. Wonderful polite service but terrible food. Industrial, nursing home style, Gordon Food Service, processed crap. Awful. Low quality. I do not eat fast food, but I would have preferred McDonalds, or even the snack isle at the Walgreens down the street over this place. Perhaps their breakfast is more appealing but I doubt that. Their staff was delightful, I wish I could say the same for the food.

If I could give this place a zero, I would. I ordered the ribeye and shrimp. I'm not quite sure why they bothered to ask me how I wanted it cooked because it was so thin there was only one way possible...well done. I can't believe my meal was $16.99. Ordered masstacioli for my kids and it tasted like someone dumped a can of chef boyardee onto a plate and microwaved it. One recommendation...McDonalds is next door. Go there instead. However, the wait staff was really friendly. Its unfortunate the food is terrible.
