Service: 4/5 The service was fine given this year s more of a lounge than a restaurant. The wait staff was nice and refilled our beverages often. Ambience: 2/5 We came for lunch and the place was dead. There were tons of signs saying you can't smoke in the establishment (tacky) and yet the place clearly had an undertone of smoky smell that must have lingered from whenever they made the transition. Food: 2/5 Hmm crackers and weird cheep cheese as a snack? What happened to just bread? The pizza was beyond awful and tasted just like the jiffy crust you buy for 75 cents. The Italian beef was actually pretty good and you got a lot of food for the price but the fries were unseasoned and bland. Close to no vegetarian options.

Not kid-friendly.. no lids for cups, no kids menu, and the drink options were coke, diet coke or sprite. The beef and noodles tasted like cafeteria style hamburger helper. Was not impressed and will not go back. Also, the pizza has a funky smell to it. We also felt unwelcome.

This place is a hidden gem of Indiana. Was looking for a good steak and was blown away by the quality of their prime rib and then was blown away by how inexpensive the check was. I wish I lived in the area because I would be a regular!

First off, our waitress Margie was amazing. She took our drink orders right off the bat. Then she brought out crackers with a cheese spread that was out of this world. The garlic bread was another treat that came with our meal. The cream of potato soup was awesome. The salad was no where a side. It was more like a cob salad. My dinner entree was very good. Hands down a great dining experience.

First impression: wow. You can never judge a book by its cover. I was a little iffy at the menu, it seemed kind of limited. But when our food came out, it changed our doubts. I ordered the steak and lobster tail. My steak looked so thin and dry, but after the first bite I was wrong. It was delicious. I regret not getting the prime rib, since it got such good ratings in the other reviews. The only thing I'm bothered by is the drinks. They came in such small glasses. Although they have a full bar, there is no drink menu. Last but not least, our server was great. She was so helpful in helping us choose our entrées. For a place that's been open for years, they're doing something right.

My family has been here several times. We almost always take up a corner of the bar and settle in for a good time. Order a drink from the friendly bar tenders, where they always greet you with a smile and your name (and if your my dad, a glass of Crown). We usually end up ordering a couple appetizers, and my absolute favorite is the italian stuffed peppers. The peppers are long green peppers, stuffed with italian sausage and topped with lots of cheese. They are so yummy and have just a hint of heat. I also enjoy their chicken fingers too. If we are really hungry, we order an entree, which is a great value because you get a salad, soup, and your meal. I have gotten the prime rib special many times before and it is very good. The fish dinners are also really good. Their bar is nicely set up and is stocked with everything, and everything is reasonably priced (Grey Goose and soda for $4.44, YES please!). They also offer a "One-a-day" drink club for around $30 - $35 dollars, which gets you 1 free drink per day. I think that is an excellent value. But onto my favorite thing at the Blue....pull tabs. We have spent numerous occasions pulling the tabs and, seemingly more often than not, pulling out a $100, $200, or even $300 winner. That sure spices up the evening :) All in all, I love coming here with my family when I am in town, and recommend it highly.

First of all, out of all fairness, my husband enjoyed his meal of walleye, and said he would give it 4/5 stars. This review, however, is simply for *my* meal experience here. I ordered the steak and mushrooms, which was an utter, utter disappointment. I felt the meal's preparation was entirely lazy. Now, when I think of mushrooms with a steak, I think of those juicy button mushrooms pan-fried in butter, garlic, and pepper. Anyway, as soon as the server brought my plate, I just KNEW by looking at the mushrooms blanketing my steak, the meal was going to suck. The mushrooms they used were those nasty gelatinous mushrooms from a CAN. Yes, they used canned mushrooms. They had no flavor, they were disgusting. I only forced myself to eat three or four. The steak was an insult. Tough, tough cut of meat. I only ate a little over a fourth of it. It also was not seasoned and was very, very bland. The french fries were about 98% like McDonald's fries, except not as thick. Weird... I told my husband when we were there, "I could have just bought a cheap cut of crappy meat and dumped a can of mushrooms over it myself. It would have been cheaper." I was so pissed and hungry. I came hungry as I trusted the other four reviews that I would be eating well. Lies. I left hungry, too. Hubby had to take me to Dairy Queen for a milkshake. I had to eat something before the "Twilight" movie! Anyhoo, if you come, don't order the steak. Gross. I would also like to add the dinners were supposed to come with ROLLS. Instead, they served us cold garlic bread...? Even grosser.

I have been here several times in the past over the years as this is my parents local cheers...literally. When you walk in they all know each other around the bar and have formed a bond here at the Blue (as the locals call it ;)) The people are all very friendly, the prices are reasonable and you are never left waiting for a drink! Last night, we sat at the bar and ordered the Bam Bam shrimp...delish. Five very plump shrimp flash fried and then doused in this creamy spicy sauce. Next up were the chicken fingers and fried mushrooms. The chicken fingers are phenomenal. The plate of mushrooms were heaping and had melted cheese sprinkled over the top. YUM. Last nights specials were the prime rib for $9.99 and the smothered steak for $11. The prime rib seemed to be a local fave. In addition to the bar, there is a large dining room that is usually quite busy on a Friday or Saturday night. OH, and lets not forget the best part about the Blue...Pull Tabs! $1 a piece with winnings up to $500 if you're lucky! On several occasions we have pulled a $100 and a $300. VERY fun! If you're in the area looking for a fun place to check out definitely stop in at the Blue. Who knows, you might just be a new addition to the Cheers club they have formed there. Be sure to ask about the "Drink of the Day" club. Its $30 for the year and you get a free drink everyday as well as a birthday dinner for $10. Oh, and ask for Kim, she is a hoot :)

Great food, great service and a great value, so I have to give the Blue Lantern 5 stars. All of the food is great, from the soup, salad to steak. You definitely won't leave hungry as the portions are quite big. I had the filet mignon which came with a side, soup and salad. My hubby had crab cakes. Everything was great. Our server was very attentive and the atmosphere was nice too. It has a neighborhood restaurant/bar feel to it and you'll feel right at home there. I definitely recommend this place!
