There was a 20-25 minute wait for a table and the food was only average. Our server Alaina was amazing, very friendly and attentive, she did her job trying to upsell things but it got a little annoying after a while. Overall it was just ok but I'm giving the 4 stars because of the service.

Everything was amazing. The door was opened for me by management which was completely humbling. I decided to sit at the bar in a booth today. Instantly I was approached by a server and my order was taken. My server was nothing short of amazing. She helped me to Oder my meal, giving amazing suggestion, on my order as this was only my second time here. Everything came to my table in an orderly fashion. Management checked on me towards the end of my meal. Everything was great. Thanks outback, I'll be visiting you again soon.

We have enjoyed many meals at this Outback in recent years. This weekend we went for a date night and was a little disappointed with the food & the service. The dining room was full so we sat in a bar both, which worked out well since the game was on. Our waitress took our order promptly & returned quickly with our drinks and my salad was fresh & delicious. Always love the bread, especially when it's hot. I got the Ahi Tuna and my husband had the steak & shrimp special, It seemed like our food may had sat in the window a little while. The bus boy delivered our food eventually, not sure what happened to our waitress. When he handled my plate he put his hand right on my Tuna! When handling plates of food, servers should take care to handle the plate & not the food. Short time later our waitress stopped by to check on us and I explained what happened. She took my plate & returned with fresh "untainted" tuna in about 10 minutes, much better. My husband ordered his steak medium but it was definitely a bloody medium rare. He ate around the edges & took the bloody interior home. The potato was cold as was the shrimp, Again, it may had sat in window too long. The unlimited shrimp was a great deal & the reload on crunchy was hot & delish. A few times we had to flag down other servers for odds & ends as ours seemed to be busy elsewhere. We had wanted dessert but she was quick to pull our check. We had her add it on anyways but felt this is server 101, right? The cheesecake was delightful as always with the raspberry drizzle on the side, heavenly. I would have rated higher as the food was probably prepared well, except maybe the under cooked steak. But the service was haphazard & bit disconnected. With better service this would had easily been a 4-star but it was generous giving 3-star all considered. We've had 5-star experiences at this Outback but far from it this time. We'd recommend just make sure you tell the server what you expect from the beginning, don't assume they know.

Went to Outback just this past Saturday. Arrived at 3:40pm and was told that we would have a 10 minute wait to be seated. Now, mind you, over half of the tables in the restaurant were EMPTY and we have a 10 minute wait?!?! While we were waiting, other people were pouring in behind us. Each party was told a wait time five minutes longer than the previous. We finally ended up being seated after waiting for almost a half hour. At that time, the waiting area was overflowing with people and no one was being seated. After complaining to the manager, we were told that they were not fully staffed until 4pm. Now this is a Saturday, early evening, near a mall area and during Holiday season. Anyone in their right mind would plan to have ample staffing during Holiday season no matter what time of day it is!! I'm sorry but this is just poor management! I will say that because of the excessive wait, we were given a free appetizer, which was just OK. The meals were also average...nothing to brag about. The highlight of our visit was the waiter. Ryan was extremely polite and diligent. IF I went back there again, I would definitely request him. He was awesome!

I took my son there today for lunch, I had a gift card and he's heading to Purdue in a couple of days. Our server was named Britney and she was friendly and checked on us regularly. She brought refills as needed without having to ask. It's a Chain Restaurant, so the décor is what it is. It was a little dark inside, but no big deal. After we were seated, Britney was there pretty quickly and as we were ready to order, she took our drink order as well as our food order and asked if we wanted bread with our drinks as we waited for our food. The drinks and bread came very quickly, but one of the plates we were given had a food smudge on it and the napkin my silver wear came wrapped in had a red food spot on it. I grabbed a set from another table and didn't use the plate for the bread. It took a while for our food to get there. I ordered the Prime Rib Dipper and my son ordered the Ribeye Melt. It seemed that it took way too long for just 2 sandwiches and fries. Our server did check on us and let us know that it wouldn't be too much longer before our food came. On our way out, I overheard a table of women talking to the manager about how long it had taken to get their food. One lady said she comes there about 2 times a month and never had this problem before, so maybe it was a tough day for the kitchen. I have only eaten there a few times and seriously, the food I got can be had anywhere. Nothing special, but the service was good.

Updating this review due to last visit there. The restaurant was crowded as we sat down in a booth. Our waitress was amazing though. She was prompt, kept us hydrated, checked on us, & brought everything we asked for. I had the prime rib. I ordered it medium, but it was a bit underdone for me (not a reflection of the restaurant as every chef tends to cook this steak a bit different). I apologized when I had to ask our waitress to take it back & have it done a little more. She came back with it done just right. I apologized again & she said, "Don't worry about. We want to make sure our customers are happy." What???? Rarely do you see such good & friendly service today. I more than appreciate her work. My husband got fish. I tried it....it was so good. Fresh, light, & practically melted in the mouth. I'm pretty picky when it comes to fish out anywhere, so I was pleasingly surprised to enjoy it. As always we will be back. Love Outback!!

The food was great. The service not so much. We were the first people in at open. Another table was sat behind us about 5 minutes later. It took about 15 minutes for the server to even come out from the back and even so, she greeted the second table first. She was not tentative nor was she friendly. Although the Seared Mahi and Steak and Shrimp tasted great, it does not make up for poor service.

Had not been to an Outback Restaurant in 7 years because of a bad experience. But since a new found friend gave me an Outback Gift Card I thought I would try it. We first ordered two Chicken Tortilla soups and they were full of taste and the lime sprinkled over it...just made it, near perfect! We both share an Outback Bacon Burger and Grilled Chicken Tacos. The burger was full of bacon but not cooked like I asked (Medium). The tacos on the other hand were so flavorful (chicken spiced just right!) and the Garlic Aoli just set it off! Staff of pretty attentive but really loved how they communicated to each other! Made me a person that will return!

I'm a big fan of the bread they bring you as well as a fan of the salad. Love the spicy ranch dressing! The place is clean and the steaks are done wonderfully. I like that I get a rare steak and not a medium rare.... Because some places over cook the steak. Could be they are at the window too long. Had a margarita last time I went. Asked for peach but it tasted like lime. Still tasty and I'm easy going but I know that might make others angry.

No seasoning on the burgers. Mashed potatoes are chunky but they do have great shrimp and bread.

Best steak, turf and the best blooming onion u ever ate in your life. So yummolicious! Good is just a lame word to use for not only the food but the outstanding service. The waiters/waitresses are beyond pleasant even on a bad day. Do it again and again and don't forget the blooming onion (ranch yummy). Just do it; no regrets will occur. Promise

This was my first time visiting an Outback Steakhouse. The service was very friendly and courteous. The bread took a little while to come out, but that was okay. The sirloin steak was a little tough, and cooked a little more than medium like I ordered. The broccoli looked like the whole stalk was just thrown in the steamer and wasn't cut up at all. The coconut shrimp was delicious, but hard to eat as it was in a "U" shape and you couldn't tell which end was which without biting into it or cutting it up. All in all, a decent experience.

Overpriced! My original entree was horrid, but when I complained to the server she was indifferent. The manager happened by, and immediately put in a new entree for me, taking the first one off the check. She also included dessert for my party. However, my second entree wasn't any better! Just didn't have the gumption to complain again. My granddaughter did enjoy her French fries!

We used their online reservation system and requested a seat for 2 at 8pm. We were seated by 8:10. Service was slow, we each sat with empty drinks for several minutes while our food got cold before we were able to flag down our server for a refill. Our blooming onion was good but was not cooked long enough and we didn't get enough sauce to finish eating the onion before it was cold. When our steaks were brought out the server told us that they had run out of baked potatoes. We should have sent the steaks back; paid our bill and left. My porterhouse steak was sort of odd and looked like it was microwaved. At medium rare there was not a drop of blood on my plate although I wouldn't consider the meat overcooked as it was red inside. As we were leaving another server had placed her stand and platter in the isle blocking our exit. She stood there and talked with the people at another table then notices were standing there waiting for us to move and she actually looked back at my wife and said oh sorry and then goes back to clearing the table. Pretty rude.

It Seems like Outback does me a solid every time i visit one of their locations. When I am craving a steak and I don't have a ton of cash on me, I head to the Out back and they hook me up, This location did me a solid as every other one has, decent food at a good price and it was a satisfying meal.. Our server seemed fairly new as it seemed like she was a little unsure of herself but she was very friendly and helpful. Outback - Not near the top of my list of favorite steakhouses but they do pretty darn good in a pinch!

Very good - food and service. Had a filet and prime rib. The cuts were both good and cooked as requested. Only nit is that there is more seasoning on the prime rib than there used to be - pretty strong stuff too. Service was excellent with signs the wait staff helps each other out - that's always good to see.

I dunno...I'm just not a chain-restaurant-eatin' type of girl, despite how much I frequent them. I had a "prime" steak and lobster tail w/ mash. It was good. I couldn't write home about it.... a good place to go to catch up with friends and have fun conversation.

Food was good, but the hostess was awful. She actually forgot to put our name on the list! It wasn't until people who got there after us started to be seated did we ask and they couldn't find our name on the list. She was completely incompetent and didn't even apologize or care to notice we sat there for well over an hour. Another time I went there the steak was 3/4 fat and all they did was give me a free drink.

Went to Outback last night 1-2-2015 with 5- family members. Had a 55 minute wait. The French fries were cold and the 2- entire orders consisted of small end pieces only. The garlic mashed potatoes was cold as well. Steak portions were small. The cooks mixed up 2- of the 5 - orders with a mix match of the steaks and side dishes, so the waitress had to take the food back and have it re-plated. Spoke to the manager and he had a shitty attitude. He stated " To be honest , I do not like their French fries either." The manager ended up compensating 2- of the dinners and 2- soft drinks free of charge. Overall I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Better off going to a Lone Star or Texas Road House restaurant.

Ordered the grilled Mahi Mahi. Asked for a fat free or low fat dressing and all they could recommend was something akin to a French which was actually quite good. The Mahi Mahi was also done very well. It's a chain but I'm giving it 3 stars based on the food and the service.

Just like every other chain restaurant only worse. I had the 8 oz. sirloin steak. It was good but no different then Applebee's or TGIFridays. If its a Friday or Saturday evening don't even try going unless you like to wait an hour or longer.

This place is very reliable for good food at a very reasonable price. That is also why it is one of the most popular restaurants in Merrillville. If you don't want to wait for dinner, do arrive before 5:30pm on a Saturday. That means if you arrive at 5:33pm, you will have to wait about 30 minutes because we saw 10 - 15 people walk in right after us in that window. Whew, because we were ready to eat. We've had prime rib, ribeye, and pasta - all very good for the price. You also get a reliably good cold salad and warm pumpernickel bread. The carrot cake was a little too sweet, and we've had better at other franchises, but this is just a heads-up for the next opportunity.

Just your little higher class TGIF or chili's. Nothing was bad but nothing is "oh my god I just gotta have it amazing" service has been consistently good with the exception of overlooking my steak. I simply asked for A1 then the manager comes out and offers me a whole other steak, same as I order (a $22 steak) free of charge. Honestly I wasn't looking for a handout but the guy was insistent so I went home with 2 containers of steak. Mahi tuna is a great starter and I hate seafood. Overall I'd give it a 3.5 stars but I feel they are even a little better then that.

I went here with my family last weekend. It was an unseasonably warm day, but they could have cranked up the AC. It was very warm in the restaurant. I had a filet mignon. It was good. Nothing mind-blowing, but hello - it's Outback. Due to my low-carb diet, for my side I ordered green beans. Sounds boring, but they were really good! I was seriously surprised. I don't know what made them better than regular green beans, but they were delish! Finally, I stole some bites of dessert from my parents. There was a cheesecake with raspberry sauce that was....meh. They also had a warm chocolate brownie thingy that was so, so, good! Oh, and there was a carrot cake too - I let my parents eat all of that one.

I do love their bloomin onion, but I've had much better steaks elsewhere. It gets hella crowded here and there's usually a wait. So I don't come here a lot when I know I can get way better food elsewhere.

Oh, yeah! The filet is unbelievable. Great seasoning and cooked to order. Loved the food, atmosphere and service! Highly recommended!!!

Excellent food and service at a reasonable price. We arrived at 4pm on a Saturday and there was no wait. By the time we left at 6pm it was packed and there was a huge crowd waiting. The steaks were done to perfection and the bloomin onion and artichoke chicken flatbread were delicious. The wedge salad was great as was the baked potato soup. The manager checked on our dining experience, I think his hands on approach is what makes this place thrive. Our server was sweet and efficient.

Alive springs chicken is my favorite dish. I would have given them 4 stars but the hostess sat us right next to the smoking section when we specifically asked for non-smoking. I mean literally next to it, a wall was all that seperated us and we had my one year old son with us. So we had to request for a new table. Afterwards everything was great.

I try not to write reviews for franchises, but my experience at Outback was so great I have to yelp about it! 1. Our server was fast, friendly and knew her stuff! She had a lot of "flare" on her uniform, which means she gets rewarded a lot for her superb serving skills:) 2. My french onion soup was TO DIE FOR, thick and flavorful onion soup, soggy bread and stringy cheese. The combination of the three was amazing. By far my favorite french onion soup to date. 3. I love the blue cheese chopped salad with caramelized nuts...plus it comes with most of the entrees as a choice of 2 sides, so if someone you're with only wants one side, you can get the salad for free! It's a healthy serving and goes well with the french onion soup. Basically what I'm telling you is I had an amazing and filling dinner of soup and salad + free bread for around $5.00! 4. The two people I was with both got the Outback special, which was a steak dinner (not sure what kind of cut)...They were very happy with the quality of meat. No fat, flavorful, tender and juicy. 5. Here's the best part...for three people (2 steak dinners), the bill came out to $55.00! Granted, the only adult beverages ordered were my grandpa's two non-alcohol O'Douls, which probably kept the bill way down. The only bad part about this place is that it gets PACKED! I called ahead of time to put our name on the list and we still ended up waiting 30 mins for a table.
