We stopped here for lunch after a trip to Marengo Cave. There are 6 of us & we were seated at a table. The waitress was friendly & the service was good. I think they were having some sort of drainage problem in the men's restroom because the smell as we walked in was not good & my son said the bathroom was gross. The ladies' room was clean & smelled nice. We had the following meals: 1 pancake with bacon, 2 bacon cheeseburgers with fries, 1 double cheeseburger with fries, 1 kids hamburger meal, 1 one grilled chicken salad. All the food was great. I had the bacon cheeseburger & it was one of the best I've had. We got plenty of fries with our burgers. Unfortunately, they did not have enough chocolate cake for all of us made & we did not have time to wait for them to make more. I would definitely go back if I was in the area again & would recommend it to others. Don't be put off by the decor--it is an old restaurant & looks it.
I usually love diners that are within a close proximity to a truck-stop. They always have good, down home cooking and friendly waitresses that remind you of your grandma. This was kind of an exception. I've had friends pestering me to stop at this restaurant for months now to try the "broasted chicken". I was warned not to try anything else on the menu because "in Leavenworth, you must eat the chicken". And eat the chicken, I did. I have to admit that when it said "broasted", I was expecting roasted chicken and what I received was your typical fried chicken. Like the kind you'd find at KFC, just with better breading and less flavor. Because I chose a dinner plate, I got to choose three sides. I chose the loaded baked potato, green beans and mashed potatoes and brown gravy. All three were good, albeit needing salt and pepper. I also got my choice of a roll or cornbread. My husband really didn't enjoy his spaghetti dinner. His spaghetti sauce came right out of a can and was so watery that it resembled more of a marinara sauce than spaghetti sauce. The meatballs were not "homemade" but were frozen and then thawed and you could definitely taste the difference. His meal also came with a salad that had brown lettuce and soggy tomatoes. All in all, he left dissatisfied. The service we received was great. Our waitress was friendly and was always on top of what we needed. The place was clean, smelled nice and gives you the option of a booth or a table, which was nice. I'd like to come back and give them one more chance to wow me AND try a piece of their blackberry cobbler!
Good breakfasts. Homestyle cooking. Excellent change of pace from fast food. I had eggs and corned beef hash with hashbrowns. Hubby had fish and chips with homefries instead of french fries. They close early...like 9pm. We would eat here again.

During my recent visit to Corydon, I wanted to find some places nearby to eat that I knew would be an experience. I figured that eating dinner with a view of the Horseshoe Bend of the Ohio River fit that description! So glad we went! The view was awesome! I was a bit unsure in the beginning because the first few waitstaff members, including our hostess and our waitress were rather rude. The hostess didn't seem to care that we'd never been there before and I hadn't ever really seen the Ohio River that close up and wasn't happy to seat us right next to a window because there were only two of us and we were taking up a four-person table. While I understand maximizing space, I feel like part of this restaurant's attraction is the view and they also need to anticipate for that. Also, the iced tea wasn't very good, which was a major bummer. BUT, the ham my mother ordered was mouthwatering. And my meatloaf was really tasty as well. We enjoyed our dinner and even had Strawberry Shortcake for dessert! After the dessert, I was feeling better about the shaky beginning and it just got better because the owner came to our table to check on us and he was extremely friendly, even listening to my odd request to buy some of his small landscaping rocks for rock painting! I needed 16 and he just told me to take them for free! I was impressed by the fact that he was there, visiting tables, and so friendly to talk to. I decided to chalk up the earlier rudi-itudes of the waitstaff to dinnertime stress and bad days - I would definitely go back and give the waitstaff another chance.
This restaurant offers a great view and great seating indoor as well as outside. We visited it yesterday, after a winery tour at a nearby winery. Unfortunately our food was only marginally acceptable. The service was slow. I ordered fried chicken breast and livers. The fried chicken appeared to have been left in the fry basket for two or three additional cycles prior to being discovered. The chicken livers had a bit of a slimy bread crumb type coating. The our friends meatloaf was left half eate N and he never before has not finished a meal. The hot brown sandwich was only so-so. Your best bet here is the hamburger. My wife said hers was good. The fries were good and not over salted. The fruit pie slice was the smallest piece of pie I have ever been served and at 3.99 (reasonable) was smaller than the apple pie at mcdonalds nor was it as good. So go for the view, have a burger and don't get a fruit pie for dessert- better the coconut cream. It was a decent size slice that looked tasty. Good luck.
Stopped by just before closing on a Tuesday evening and had sweet tea and a beer overlooking one of the best outside views from the wooden deck high above the Ohio River. The bartender closed up and told us to enjoy our drinks and just leave the glasses on the table when we were done.
