First and foremost I want to mention their service as it is the key to any business!! I love the service here with a smile!! They always make you feel welcome!! Their homemade candies, italian sodas, ice cream treats and lunch are all delicious!! I love all of the fun things they do to get their customers involved such as the candy can making events near Christmas and the new kids club they are starting. A quaint little candy store a corner in downtown Lafayette is a must when visiting the area.

This is one of my favorite places to frequent when my sweet tooth is craving attention. Their cookies and chocolate are fantastic, but the real life changers are the shakes! Seriously, a peanut chocolate shake from here will blow your mind. Also, the pops here are great! I stop to get a jumbo coke here at least once a week, and it is so much better than pop out of a pop machine. The root beer is delicious too! My final recommendation is to try the breakfast sandwiches. I love coming in on the weekends for them, and they are cheap! But only served until 11 a.m. Keep in mind that this place closes earlier than most food joints every day though.

Great shakes! All the flavors you could imagine, I tried a peach shake and it was good. Good prices, lots of options, they could use a vegi sandwich or wrap but good place overall.

What a cool restaurant! My girlfriend and I were walking around downtown Lafayette looking for a place to get some good food on a budget. We found this little corner shop and fell in love! We keep on coming back over and over again for the great food, low prices, and delicious candy! Also, they have superman ice cream, which is nearly impossible to find. I recommend this restaurant to anyone! Especially college students with little to no money looking for lunch. Its so hard to find places like this, and that's why we keep coming back! Love it!

Always good food and friendly service. Can't help but run into some unique individuals downtown, but that's neither here nor there. :-)

Three others & myself walked in 10 minutes before closure & the soda jerk was sweet & still let us take our time to make our purchases-2 ice creams & 2 orders of various candies. I didnt have the icecream but the waffle cones looked amazing! Wish I'd had more time to enjoy a soda or something else special! Id give more stars if there were more candy options & if the ambiance was a step more special/unique. This shop has good chocolates, not great. I prefer a smoother chocolate to this basic recipe, but still it was good. I had a tiramisu truffle which tasted nothing like tiramisu - not even close. I was very disappointed. However, the chocolate covered marshmallow was delish though. :-)

McCord Candies is one of the finest places in the city to get any type of guilty pleasure. The selection of chocolates is quite adequate and they also have a fine selection of fruit candies as well. Other than just candy, they also have a dine-in menu for lunch only. The food is tasty and the drink selections are phenomenal. My personal favorite drink there is a Green River which is quite refreshing. The atmosphere is very casual and relaxing. If you want to go somewhere for lunch and can't decide, stop at McCord Candies!

I like the way they make their sodas, but I wouldn't eat their food, or candy. It's clear the walls are never cleaned, they have thick dust on them. Every time I've been in, their lunch prep area has been very dirty. Overall, it's a great idea, just not well executed.

This place had a very nostalgic feel. I liked the way it looked inside and out. My wife and I came here because we had a sweet tooth. We ordered a cookie, it was big enough to share. It was really good. Washed it down with some root beer, which was also good. The girls that were working that day were very friendly. The next time we're in Lafayette, we will have to make another stop here for some more treats.

A small town gem. Still rolling candy canes and crafting chocolates by hand, McCord's is a step into the 1950's. The variety of the chocolates is huge, but the quality of the chocolate itself seems to be a bit sub-par. They're not bad, just more sugary than something like Fannie May. More sugarry, less chocolatey. Not my preference, but maybe yours. Certainly worth a try.

Very tasty vegetable soup... The grilled sandwiches are very good too. Their lemonade will put a smile in your face. Good price and very wide menu selection.

Oh the memories! McCord Candies and their candy canes alone make this place close to heart and one of my favorites. They have such good candy and I especially love their chocolates and their fruit candies. I am a vanilla coke fan so I always get one there because they have amazing fountain drinks. The food isn't necessarily anything special but it is classic so if you just want a sandwich or something simple it will do the trick

Good home-style food. Home made candy! good vanilla coke. Hand made candy canes. They finally started accepting credit cards too. What a relief.

Years ago, this place was THE place to get great candy and a quick lunch. You can tell that whoever own this place, is not a hands on owner. The wait staff is terrible. I was the only person in the store, and I couldn't get the two young ladies behind the counter to wait on me for the first 5 minutes plus, I was in the store. If they weren't busy talking among themselves, they were on the phone. When I finally did get one of these young ladies to talk to me, I got some attitude for interrupting her quality time looking at her phone. I asked several questions about the candy in the counter, and asked what was fresh, and or made locally. The young lady said the candy maker that the store had, left for Texas a while back, and most of the candy comes from the same place that Wal-Mart gets their candy from. If I wanted fresh, locally made candy I needed to go across the street. Then she pointed me towards another candy store, and went back to looking at her phone. This place needs a hands on owner, and a shake up of the staff. Also a cleaning crew. This place has a lair of dust that's as old as the current owners.

It's a candy shoppe and soda fountain! My soda jerk had some great suggestions on sprucing up my diet Coke. Turned out to be a super yummy chocolate-covered-cherry-diet-Coke. :o) The sundae was hard to eat because it was out of a tall Styrofoam cup, but it was "to-go", so I can't say much. Bought some candies for my rents: dark chocolate covered jellies were top notch. surgar-free turtles were "eh", even for sugar-free, but I learned those are not made in-house, so I won't fault them for it. They also have classic candies and Sixlets by the mini-jar! Awesome, to say the least. The buzz is that the candy canes during fall/winter are awesome! I'll be back to see if it is true or not.

Great little downtown treasure! I love being able to pop in on my lunch hour to grab a quick meal and take it back to my office. When time is short and my stomach is groaning, it's the only place where I can be in and out in 10 minutes. They have a good egg salad sandwich; the olive-nut sandwich is also a favorite. The best though are the fountain drinks. Large diet vanilla coke ... works for me everytime!!

I love the old-fashioned feel of this place. They have a big variety of hand-made candies. You may want to try them all, but at $8/lb. you have to limit yourself! Snappers are my personal favorite! They are giant turtle candies that taste absolutely amazing. My only complaint is that the staff is a bunch of high school girls who aren't very professional. It kind of ruins the atmosphere. Also, I wouldn't order the food there. It's greasy diner food.

After reading the reviews I had high hopes for this place, however I came away disappointed. To be fair, I have only been to McCords once and grabbed their box of chocolate varieties. These chocolates were a huge let down. I am not a chocolate expert, but the quality of the chocolate seemed very poor. However, the real problem was that the chocolate was way too sugary, even the dark chocolate pieces. The combination of the sugary chocolate and the sugary filling made it even worse. Also, the whole thing tasted very artificial. Maybe I got a bad batch and their other items are good?
