Let me just start by saying... What a pleasant surprise! I have to say that when my husband found this place on yelp, I was really doubtful that we would enjoy the food. The menu screamed "typical bar food" in my opinion and there weren't that many things that sounded too appetizing to me. But all of the places we wanted to eat at in Louisville (where we were staying) were packed so we crossed a bridge over to Indiana to find a place to grab a quick bite and this place had good reviews. It is a little awkwardly located but parking was plentiful and so was the seating inside... Our server was Jessica, who also greeted us at the front. There was only one other table of people in the entire restaurant which I initially thought was a red flag, but I wanted to give this place the benefit of the doubt. Jessica was super friendly and knowledgable of the menu. She also brought us menus from the adjacent restaurant, J Gumbos, because they served food from both restaurants. We ordered a couple beers while we looked over both menus. I opted for the Kentucky bourbon barrel ale and it was AWESOME. It was my first time trying it and I loved it so much that after we left, we stopped and bought some to take back to Tn with us. Jessica told us that the food next door was really good and she could bring us a sample of anything we wanted to try. We took her up on that and asked to sample the white chili (vegetarian), bumblebee stew (also vegetarian), and the crawfish étouffée. My favorite of the 3 was the bumblebee stew. Wow, so good! We didn't order any, but I wish we had gotten some to go. Our least favorite was the white chili. The clove spice was so overwhelming for both of us. We had never tried crawfish étouffée before and we both really liked it so we ordered a kid's size portion; $4 for a decent helping, including rice and a piece of cornbread. We also ordered from the quad cafe menu. I chose the veggie burger (slaw burger style with cole slaw and american cheese) and french fries with ranch dressing for dipping, and my husband ordered the angry fish sandwich with spicy tarter and american cheese as well as french fries. Both of our entrees were really good. The veggie burger tasted like a Morningstar black bean jumbo burger (I actually think it may have been) with decent-but-not-great cole slaw and cheese. I added the onions from my husband's fish sandwich (he hates them) and I thought the burger was really tasty. Even if it was possibly a pre made, frozen patty. We both really enjoyed the fish sandwich. The piece of fish was huge and it the spicy tartar sauce was good but not that spicy at all in our opinions. The fries had ranch-type seasoning on them which was awesome and the actual ranch dressing tasted homemade, whether it was or not. Kind of "typical bar food" to an extent I suppose, but really good. I liked that they offered food from J Gumbos as well because it was kinda cool to try two good restaurants in one stop. It was a little sad to me that they weren't busy because we both really liked these places and I feel like with some advertising, they would stay busy! If we are ever in the area again, we will certainly stop by and at least grab a beer, some fries, and some of that bumblebee stew next door!

Thus far, I've only been to the J. Gumbo's inside Quad Cafe. Quad Cafe also has a full bar, but my work crowd usually avoids imbibing at lunch. If you've not been to J. Gumbo's before, you can't go wrong with the Drunken Chicken. If you can tolerate spicy, try the VooDoo Chicken. Most of the meals will come as a bowl of white rice with the entree of choice ladled across the top. If you have been to J. Gumbo's before - it's what you remember from the other locations. However! This particular location serves sweet cornbread instead of the typical J. Gumbo's garlic toast, and that makes for a great item to mix into the bowl. I like to pair the Voodoo Chicken with the Bumblebee Stew for a mix of hot and sweet.

It isn't often that a restaurant makes a complete turnaround, but when I walked into Quad Cafe tonight I was pleasantly surprised with what I found. Since the last time I visited, nearly a year ago, they have made the following obvious changes: -Massive remodel including tearing out walls to open up the area between the restaurant and the bar. The restaurant now has a local gastropub vibe instead of looking like a dated and disorganized diner. The decorations now include big black and white photos from Jeffersonville's history. -The party room that was backing up the restaurant the last time we visited is now completely gone. It has been replaced by a J Gumbos which is owned by the same owners and opens up into Quad Cafe's dining room. We were able to order from J Gumbo's menu and have the food delivered to our table at Quad Cafe. -The menu has been simplified and is congruent with the overall local gastropub feel. If you haven't visited Quad Cafe in a while go back and check them out again. I'm sorry that it took me so long to discover what an amazing restaurant they have become.

I will have to go back again because I hate giving three stars, but I wasn't too impressed. Not that the food was bad, but the service was subpar. We felt like nuisances being the only table there the night we went and to be a bar, I don't know if I could get comfortable drinking and then getting in a car where all the cops hang out. I do like that they've added the JGumbos inside and you can order off the Quad menu or the JGumbo menu. Be warned though, the menu has changed since the pics in the Yelp pics for Quad Cafe. The delicious meals I see pictured are no longer offered. I will not eat sandwichy type meals and that's what most of their menu seemed to be so I opted for the smoked wings which were good. Still though, I felt rushed and it just wasn't the experience I thought it would be reading the other reviews.

Went there on a Sunday. I watched the cubs game and enjoyed a $3 Bloody Mary. The bar tender was very nice and knowledgeable. She informed me of all Missy's Martini's and their Tuesday Specials. I asked for a suggestion on something to eat. She told me they had fresh pulled pork right out of the smoker. I had a pulled pork sandwich it was AMAZING! I would definitely recommend this place for a cheap date night. The menu was inexpensive and had a lot of options. If you are in Jeffersonville, I would stop in this hidden secret.

Decent menu. Friendly helpful staff. Reasonably priced, although fries were extra charge. Substituted ground turkey with ground beef. Spiced homemade chips were nice, and spiced mayo. Could have had more flavor, but juicy!
