Muy bueno. The server was such a delight. Tonight was our first visit here and we loved it. There was so much selection in their menu that I couldn't decide what to get. I knew I wanted something containing seafood though so I chose the shrimp enchiladas. My daughters had a seafood chimi and a beef burrito with nacho cheese. The salsa was pretty good also. Very fresh.

Decent, cheap, fast lunch place. This was the go to spot for me and my co workers while we were working in the area. Most of the lunch combos were around $5.

Our Friday night ritual - Tacos and a top shelf Margarita at Puerto Vallarta! Best Mexican restaurant in southern Indiana in our opinion. We love this place!! Friendly and attentive service. Excellent food that's consistent in quality and flavor. Perfect margaritas. What's more to say?! This is the place if you're looking for good Mexican in Jeffersonville.

A surprising gem in a great architectural-reuse complex. We had a group of 7 and were seated immediately on a Sunday night. The majority of the tables and booths were full. We started with a pitcher of frozen margaritas, which was tasty. A little potent for some of the lightweights in the group, not so much for those with higher tolerance. :) Chips and salsa appeared immediately. "Hot" was served by default; we had to request mild. Hot seemed more like a mild-medium anywhere else, hence the air quotes. Queso dip arrived immediately upon request. It was a little boring for me, but the rest of the group adored it. I ordered a la carte, because what I wanted wasn't one of their (many) combination platters. I got the beef chimichanga, potato enchiladas, and a side of beans. Refried beans are my quality measure of a Mexican restaurant. The plate was huge, and the flavor and texture were decent - not the best I've ever had, but certainly far from the worst. The potato enchiladas were delicious. The chimichanga was not as crisp as I had hoped for, plus it was sauced with the queso dip. Darn. The beef inside, however, was delicious. Shredded beef, nicely spiced - seemed like it had spent all day cooking to perfection in a zesty bath. It was perfectly tender. Likewise, the pork burrito (not the pork or carnitas in the standard burrito - it was a special variety listed separately on the menu) had incredible meat. Again, braised to perfection with just a touch of browning. My husband raved about it for hours afterward. Service was friendly - our server was chatty and responsive. The runners who brought our food brought the wrong kind of chicken for one of the kids in our group, but quickly brought the correct dish. Prices were reasonable for what you get. I would return.

Good isn't bad, but nothing more than traditional Mexican food you can find anywhere. The service here is NOT good. They have a hard time understanding English, and if they get your order wrong, they blame you instead of themselves.

Puerto Vallarta is one of the better "authentic" Mexican restaurants around. Good salsa, well the hot is good the mild is basically just tomato sauce. Great cheese dip. Strong margaritas, too strong if you ask me. I like a little flavor besides tequila in my margaritas but I definitely feel like I got my money's worth. I usually get the Is Special which is basically their seasoned rice topped with chicken and their white cheese sauce. It's simple but yummy. I usually get a side of beans and a side of tortillas to go with it so I can wrap it all up like little tacos. Decent prices for sure and always quick service. I do recommend avoiding the guacamole. It is by far the worst I have ever eaten. It was slimy and tasteless. Similar to the crap that comes in a jar at the grocery store. Other than that I recommend The food at Puerto Vallarta.

We used to regularly eat at this restaurant but had not been in some time and decided we would go back. The menu as well as the decor had changed since our last visit but the thing that changed the most is the service. It was extremely POOR! Our server seated us, took our orders and then we never saw her again until we were done eating. She was on her phone when my daughter went to find someone to bring us the salsa, chips, and drink refills that we had been waiting for for almost 10 minutes. I asked for sour cream when my dinner was brought out by another server and had to wait until my food was almost cold to get any. We tried to flag down a couple of other servers and they simply ignored us. Finally one of the "helpers" got everything for us but that took time too since it seemed she was unable to do more then one thing at a time. The food was not as good as before but the prices were definitely higher! With all the mexican restaurants popping up all over the area, this one needs to pick up their game! We won't be going back anytime soon! I even asked that my tip be given to the "helper" since our "server" did NOTHING! There should be a rule in businesses-no personal calls on the job, no texting, and take care of the customer!

Een heel gezellig lekker Mexicaans restaurant heel mooi interieur en zeer vriendelijke bediening en dit door uitsluitend Mexicaanse mensen wat ik zeer fijn vind in een Mexicaans restaurant.

This is one of the more modestly priced Mexican restaurants in Jeffersonville. Unfortunately, the service is not what it used to be, and the food quality has slipped a little too. Not sure what happened, but I've found myself not frequenting the restaurant as much these days...

Puerto Vallarta became the site of Saturday night's dinner because my boyfriend and I were looking for an inexpensive non-chain place to have a relaxing meal. The first thing that we noticed was that the menu was huge with numerous specials as well as 30 different combination dinners to choose from. I ate nearly the entire bowl of complimentary chips and salsa while trying to work my way through the menu. I finally settled on the IS Special (strips of marinated chicken over rice topped with cheese sauce) and my boyfriend selected a selection of enchiladas (one bean, one cheese, one beef, one chicken). When the food came out, both my boyfriend and I commented on the poor presentation. It just looked boring. However, it tasted great. My IS Special had an uncurrent of spice but was rich and cheesy. However, I have to state that I found a shrimp (shellfish) in my chicken dish which causes me great concern about allergen cross contamination. If you have a severe shellfish allergy this may not be the best choice of restaurant as they don't appear to have good protocol in place for preventing cross over. I'm deducting two stars for this health hazard and for the poor presentation of the dishes.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
